Is manufacturing set to return ?

Interesting reading this morning, Sir Phillip Green is considering opening a factory in the UK.Pondering

At Blue Autumn we have already returned part of our uniform manufacturing, as costs abroad rise, costs in fabric have continued to rise, transport prices are rising, the attractiveness of making abroad is fast disappearing. We can now turn around bespoke orders quicker, reduce down our stocks and remain profitable.

Years ago, labour was difficult to find, this was another problem, not so now.

Blue Autumn has been producing uniforms since 1996, uniforms for nurses, uniforms nursing homes, uniforms chefs, uniforms for other medical professions and many other types of businesses requiring workwear.

It has been a while since my last blog, and I guess I have loads to blog about in the coming weeks.

We are constantly seeing changes within the market place, with the falling sales in some businesses and those businesses thinking they have an opportunity to achieve sales within uniform business to nursing homes etc They will need to think again !

At Blue Autumn I have personally 25 years of experience in textiles, we know how to run our uniform business. We produce our own uniform styles which are proven. We also produce locally, which allows us to turn around orders quickly and without delays. We can produce whatever colour you want, you can choose from our wide range of nursing and chefs uniforms styles, you can choose your own colour combination.

For all those larger and extra, extra small sizes, required for uniforms we can also produce these quickly.

Northern Ireland is also about to roll out a national uniform which it is envisaged that implementation would occur on a phased basis throughout 2010/11 and 2011/12, following a 6-month manufacturing lead time for delivery of the uniforms.

We received this letter today from a new customer.

' Having been checking out various companies on-line for nursing tunics, it seems by far, your company ( Blue Autumn ) have the most affordable prices. I will be referring my colleagues to you as these tunics cost at least 30 euros upwards down south'

As a company we keep our overheads low to be able to supply quality products as keen as possible.

Nurses Uniforms, wearing their healthcare uniform outside work

Again we see and hear of examples of nursing still wearing their uniforms outside work. Read this article about nurses uniforms posing superbug risk

Is there a reason why we still see nurses, care assistances and others wearing their healthcare uniforms outside the workplace ? Is it the employers fault for not providing enough uniforms or implementing a correct uniform policy ?

This applies not only to hospitals but to care homes, these superbugs can also be found there, as residents are admitted from hospitals, sometimes with this bug.

Nursing homes should seriously review their uniform policy and where needs be, they should increase their healthcare uniform quota. Too many are too tight when it comes to providing a sufficient number of uniforms sets to their staff. Even if they are not prepared to pay for these uniforms, they should insist on the correct number of sets of healthcare uniforms required by nursing staff to do their jobs in a correct manner.

When will they realise that a uniform is not an item which can be cut back on. Come on get it sorted and help elimate these superbugs. Provide your staff with enough uniforms PLEASE !!!
