Well it seems that freedom of information is good for something – the Maiami Herald and New York Times made a freedom of information request to get the list of those who are deemed to be too dangerous to release or move while not being able to try them in a civilian or military court.

Another sign that Barak Obama does intend to follow through with his renewed intent to close the Guantanamo bay detention camp is that Clifford Sloan is to reopen the Office of Guantanamo Closure which was shut in January.

Counterfactuals are usually a bit of pointless fun; ‘what would have happened if the Germans had succeeded at the battle of the bulge?’ or ‘What if the romans had invented steam engines?’ However things get a bit more serious when counterfactuals are used to justify policies.

The chair of the Senate intelligence committee Dianne Feinstein has said that she is thinking about drafting legislation to limit the access to secret and classified data that contractors have. This is clearly in response to the contractor for Booz Allen Hamilton Edward Snowden leaking information about PRISM – someone leaked so it is clear that none of that lot can be trusted right?
