Buc-ee’s has become one of the most iconic road trip stops in the South. What starts as a quick stop for gas or a bathroom break somehow turns into walking out with bags full of snacks, drinks and souvenirs you never planned to buy. Between the massive snack selection, famous jerky wall and endless rows of unique treats, Buc-ee’s has turned the average gas station stop into an experience of its own.

If you are planning a road trip through Florida or anywhere in the South, here are 10 must-try Buc-ee’s favorites worth adding to your snack haul.

The Brisket Sandwich is one of Buc-ee’s most famous food items and for good reason. Fresh brisket is chopped right in front of customers throughout the day, and when employees announce “Brisket on the board!” you know a fresh batch is ready. Smoky, flavorful and filling, it has become a staple for first-time visitors and regular travelers alike.

Another road trip favorite is the candied nuts. Warm pecans, almonds and cashews coated in sweet candy glaze make the perfect snack for the drive. They are easy to share, smell amazing and are best enjoyed warm from the heater.

Buc-ee’s is also known for its massive jerky counter featuring dozens of flavors to sample. The Cherry Maple Beef Jerky stands out as one of the most unique options. It combines sweet maple flavor with savory beef for a snack that feels a little different from traditional jerky flavors.

For travelers with a sweet tooth, the banana pudding is surprisingly good. Creamy, rich and nostalgic, it feels more like a homemade dessert than something you would expect to find at a gas station.

Coffee may seem basic, but Buc-ee’s coffee bar has become a fan favorite thanks to the endless customization options. With flavored creamers, milk alternatives, syrups and sweeteners, travelers can make their coffee exactly how they like it at home before getting back on the road.

Beyond snacks, Buc-ee’s also offers a huge selection of cups and tumblers that make great souvenirs while keeping drinks cold during long drives.

The Mini Cinnamon Churro Cookies are another must-try item. Crunchy, sweet and coated with cinnamon sugar, they are easy to snack on while driving and quickly become addictive.

One of the more unexpected favorites is the Cotton Candy Mints. While the flavor sounds unusual, they are surprisingly refreshing and fun to try during a long road trip.

No Buc-ee’s visit would be complete without stopping by the fudge counter. Freshly made and available in a variety of flavors, the fudge has become another classic Buc-ee’s treat.

Finally, there are the famous Beaver Nuggets. Sweet, crunchy and impossible to stop eating, they are arguably Buc-ee’s most iconic snack and the item many travelers continue craving long after the trip ends.

Whether you are traveling across the country or simply making a quick stop along the highway, Buc-ee’s has become more than just a gas station. It is a road trip tradition that travelers look forward to mile after mile.

The post The Top 10 Things to Buy at Buc-ee’s on Your Next Road Trip first appeared on Blog Journal for World Golf Village | WGV - Northeast Florida.

Honey varieties are named after their primary nectar source. The different plants surrounding beehives each produce a unique flavor, resulting in distinct honey varieties that seasoned beekeepers can often distinguish, though they may still seem noticeably different to the average person’s taste buds. The nectar source that honey comes from can affect its flavor profile, mineral levels and color.

There is a diverse selection of nectar sources that can be found in Northeast Florida. For instance, orange blossom is a lighter honey with a milder taste and hints of citrus, whereas black mangrove honey has a darker amber color and a richer, smooth flavor profile with notes of caramel and butterscotch. Black mangrove honey is limited to coastal areas. Wildflower honey is known for its floral and fruity notes and offers the most benefits for allergy relief since it comes from multiple nectar sources. Red maple honey can sometimes be described as having hints of mint. Palmetto honey, found in Crescent Beach and Palatka, has a slightly woody aroma with hints of dark plum.

Benefits of Local Honey

Local honey in particular offers extensive benefits. Research suggests that consuming honey sourced from your area can help improve allergy symptoms. The trace amounts of local pollen in the honey can gently introduce allergens to your system and support your body’s natural defense. Beyond that, honey is packed with antioxidants that help fight free radicals, support digestion and gut health, and can even promote wound and burn healing when applied topically.

Choosing local honey doesn’t just benefit your health; it also supports small businesses and protects a vital part of our ecosystem. There are many local sources of honey in St. Johns County. Bees play a crucial role in pollinating over one-third of the food that we eat. While sometimes seen as a nuisance, bees are essential to sustaining our environment and food supply.

Where to Find Local Honey in Northeast Florida

If you’re looking to explore local honey in Northeast Florida, there are several spots worth visiting.

Diane’s Bees – Crescent Beach

Diane’s Bees, just off A1A, near Matanzas Inlet, is a charming local spot for honey lovers. The coastal drive alone is worth a visit. Diane keeps the bees herself and makes the honey onsite, giving visitors a more personal experience. You can even spot some of the hives next to the stand.

Her selection includes unique flavors, such as datil pepper, a pepper native to St. Augustine, elderberry, key lime and a popular favorite: the immune-boosting blend with ginger and turmeric. In addition to honey, Diane carries lip and body balms and bee pollen, a nutrient-packed topping for yogurt bowls or salads.

Bee Hill Farm – Elkton

Bee Hill Farm is another local favorite, available at their farm in Elkton, as well as the St. Augustine Amphitheatre’s Saturday market and online. Their farm, located just a 15-minute drive from the historic district of St. Augustine, offers a pristine escape that immerses visitors in the natural beauty and charm of Elkton, with an old Florida feel. With over 100 hives scattered around St. Johns County, Bee Hill Farm offers a wide array of honey with seasonal flavors from different nectar sources, including red maple, orange blossom, and black mangrove. They also create decadent, farm-grown floral arrangements that make the perfect gift.

Stubbees Honey + Apothecary – Downtown, St. Augustine

Stubbees Honey + Apothecary, founded by brothers Justin and Austin Stubblefield, has become a popular honey destination in downtown St. Augustine. It offers an impressive range of products, including whipped honey, raw honey, infused honey and even bourbon honey, as well as accessories and lifestyle items.

The Honey Truck – Jacksonville Area

Master Beekeeper Danielle Brooks is the star behind The Honey Truck, named a “Best of the South Brand” by Southern Living magazine. Their honey is kept raw, never heat-treated and proudly comes from bees ethically raised in Florida. The Honey Truck has hyperlocal hives in Lincolnville, Anastasia Island, The Shores, State Road 16 and Elkton. They offer varieties like lavender- and vanilla-infused honey and always stay centered on their mission to support the stewardship of native bee populations and educate others about bees.
Bee Friends Farm is a family-run honey business that focuses on sustainable harvesting methods. Their brick-and-mortar store opened in 2021 in Murray Hill, Jacksonville, an artsy, laid-back neighborhood filled with entrepreneurial spirit and shops. In their store, they have honey produced from over 600 hives in the surrounding areas. One of their most popular varieties is the hyper-local wildflower honey, as it aids with allergy symptoms. During the spring and fall season they offer educational tours of their farm and beekeeping experiences, allowing visitors to see the bees up close.

Located in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, THE PLAYERS is hosted on the renowned and iconic golf course, TPC Sawgrass. It’s been one of golf’s most exciting events since 1974 – and it’s right in your backyard. While the full schedule for 2026 has yet to be released, practice rounds for the professionals are on Tuesday, March 10th and Wednesday, March 11th. The first round of competition kicks off on Thursday, March 12th, the second round on Friday and the third on Saturday. The final round of competition is on Championship Sunday, marking the end of the tournament, where the winner will take home $4.5 million of the $25 million purse prize. The pros playing in this year’s THE PLAYERS are some of golf’s biggest names, including Keegan Bradley and Brooks Koepka. Scottie Scheffler, 2025 PGA TOUR Player of the Year, current World No. 1, and two-time PLAYERS champion, will be back again this year to compete for the title.

And if you’re in the military, THE PLAYERS offers complimentary and discounted ticket options for service members, veterans and their families.

To help celebrate local service members, THE PLAYERS will also be hosting Military Appreciation Day on Tuesday, March 10th. The Military Appreciation Day Ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. on the Island Green at the 17th Hole. Immediately following will be an epic concert, with three-time GRAMMY award winner Ludacris taking the stage!
Buying, selling or renting a home is an exciting and important life event – and it’s also one of life’s most stressful. It can even be more stressful than a breakup, planning a wedding, getting fired or becoming a parent. At Davidson Realty, we have over 30 years of experience serving Northeast Florida, and we know how important it is to work with a trusted, skilled professional. With our expertise, we’ll take care of it all — guaranteeing your experience is seamless and rewarding. Here are our Top 5 Reasons to Hire a Real Estate Agent, to make one of life’s most overwhelming processes an enjoyable one.

Gain a trusted advocate: Hiring an agent means gaining a trusted adviser, one that is there to ensure that you’re getting the best deal – not overpaying or under selling. They are there as a guide to meet your needs and objectives, negotiate terms and represent your transaction for your best interest.

Have local knowledge and expertise: Real estate agents pride themselves on knowing the cities they sell and buy in best. They are masters in evaluating the prices and values of homes, finding comparables, having insights to trends and neighborhood statistics – and are well versed in legal forms, disclosures and financial documentation – making a complicated process much more simple.

Connect with the best and most reputable professionals: There is so much more to finding a home to purchase or selling the home you have. With home inspections, repairs needed and bank lending, there is usually a whole team required to finalize a transaction. Agents know local amenities, utilities, zoning requirements and housing rules and regulations – and they also have their own trusted, ethical professionals that they love to work with, including inspectors, pest control, skilled tradesmen and lenders. Hiring an agent means you get insight and access to their trusted team.

Access exclusive properties: Finding a home on Zillow, Redfin or Opendoor doesn’t always mean you’re seeing the most active listing or seeing the most recent information. Agents have access to properties that you often can’t find, whether they’re exclusive listings, for sale by owner, off market, prelisted or expired. Agents also have insight into the histories of properties, and have connections to homes that never make it online. And with their years of experience, they have a portfolio of connections, of people who may be interested in buying or selling.

Make a relationship for life: Hiring a real estate agent means hiring a friend for life. Even after the deal is done, agents are there for you for future questions and concerns – like homesteading, taxes and repairs. They are there to help your family and friends with their purchases and sales, knowing that you can refer your favorite people to someone you trust most.

Pets are a part of the family, showing us unconditional love and joy. And when you want to go out, you want to be able to bring the whole family to grab a bite, or a cold one. These establishments welcome your furry friend to dine in or enjoy the sunshine outdoors.

On an acre of professionally developed park grounds, BrewHound Dog Park + Bar is a place built for dogs and their owners, with delicious cold and hot beverages on tap in a relaxing, beautiful environment. Located in Neptune Beach, and open every day but Monday, BrewHound features Bold Bean coffee and local craft beers and wines. Brewhound’s “Ruffarees” keep watch over pups and keep play safe and friendly.

The Riverside Arts Market (RAM) is a local artists, artisans, farmers and makers market hosted under the canopy of the Fuller Warren Bridge – open every Saturday, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This weekly community market is produced by Riverside Avondale Preservation as a means to advocate for small businesses and farmers of Jacksonville. Grab a bite to eat and the freshest of local produce; attend Morning Yoga at 9 a.m.; and enjoy the fresh air with your dogs (cats are welcome too!).

Founded in 2007, Bold Bean is a locals’ favorite, with locations in Riverside and Jax Beach. Known for making beautiful, clean coffees sourced from around the world, their roasting methods highlight the coffee origins’ characteristics and enhance its natural sweetness and vibrancy. They also have breakfast sandwiches, pastries, bagels and more treats – and a dog-friendly outdoor patio. Flamingo Coffee is located in Murray Hill in Jacksonville and has a new location in St. Augustine on Anastasia Boulevard. Serving up delicious coffees and teas, Flamingo is an all-day coffee bar that serves beer, wine and sake, and is pet-friendly.

For the beer-loving crew, head to Wicked Barley Brewing Company with your pup for delicious craft beer with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The brewery includes over 2,000 square feet of restaurant, tap room, covered patio and pet-friendly waterfront beer garden – you can even access it by kayak or boat! Located on the banks of Goodby’s Creek, this beautiful waterfront brewery serves house-brewed beers, ciders and meads, with a menu of appetizers, burgers, salads, sandwiches and a kid’s menu. For a cold one in St. Augustine, head to Bog Brewery on West King Street, where all beer is brewed on site in their historic taproom. Bog is dog-friendly with a large outdoor seating area and a delicious taco truck on-site.

If you and your pets like music and a lively scene, head to St. Augustine’s downtown Plaza de la Constitución for Nights of Lights, which will soon light up the city in a magical glow. Running from November 15, 2025, through January 11, 2026, the city will be lit with millions of twinkling lights. After the holiday season, from May through September, Concerts in the Plaza will take place every Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bring a chair or a blanket and listen to the best local and regional musicians. Pack a picnic basket, or walk over to a nearby restaurant before or after the show. The pet-friendly St. Johns County Ocean Pier Park in St. Augustine Beach is another great spot for pets who love music, holding Music By the Sea concerts every Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. These concerts also run from May through September.

The post Bring Your Furry Family To Your Next Outing At These Pet-Friendly Restaurants and Parks first appeared on Blog Journal for World Golf Village | WGV - Northeast Florida.

The beaches in Northeast Florida are stunning, offering 42 miles of pristine sandy coastline — and each beach has something different to offer. Depending on where you go, you can find soft white sand, coquina shell-sand, wild dunes, giant coquina rocks and shark’s teeth. St. Johns County has countless beach access points, with some offering vehicular access (beach driving), on-sand beach parking, off-beach parking and walkovers and footpaths (to find all beach access points, go here). Here are our top beaches in St. Johns County:

Mickler’s Landing: County Rd 203, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082

Mickler’s Landing, pronounced “mike-lers,” is located on the south end of Ponte Vedra Beach, just north of North Beach Guana River Preserve. Just two blocks east of A1A, it’s the first public beach in Ponte Vedra. Mickler’s pink, coquina-sand offers the perfect landscape to find shark’s teeth, and is a great place to surf, swim and walk. There is lots of off-beach parking, bathrooms and showers and it is handicap accessible, including a wooden walkway through 20-foot high natural sand dunes. Lifeguards are staffed seasonally, from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Vilano Beach: multiple access points, Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway, Vilano Beach, FL 32084

Vilano Beach is a locals beach, just north of downtown St. Augustine. It’s quiet and casual, and is known for its coquina sand and steep drop off. Heavier surf makes it great for catching waves and skimboarding, and it’s located just on the north side of the Matanzas Inlet. There are multiple access points to Vilano Beach, from footpaths to official off-beach parking areas and drive-on ramps. Vilano Beach Ramp is located at 2725 Anahma Drive, and is for 4WD vehicles only, with a ramped pedestrian access point that is shared with vehicular traffic. Driving on the beach is limited seasonally and depends on weather and sand conditions. Additional access points to Vilano include Surfside Walkover, just north of Vilano’s town center, Mussallem Beachfront Park and Nease House Park. All include restrooms and showers, and walkovers.

A Street: A Street, St. Augustine, FL 32080

A Street is another locals beach, located on Anastasia Island. The beach has soft, white sand and a long, flat expanse, perfect for walking or riding your bike. It’s great for surfing too. You can walk north to the pier, or walk up A Street to find the small town of St. Augustine Beach, super cute and super laid back. The beach town offers neighborhood bars and restaurants, surf shops and other boutiques just a short walk from the beach. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and cars are allowed to drive and park on the beach starting at A Street, and can drive one way only, heading south. 4WD is required to enter the beach and for on-beach parking.

Matanzas Inlet: 8655 A1A South, St. Augustine, Florida 32080

Matanzas Inlet is a special place, located just 15 minutes south of St. Augustine. The inlet is where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Matanzas River, and it’s known for pristine waters and a secluded atmosphere. It’s common to see dolphins and other wildlife (like sharks!), and is great for surfing, swimming, fishing, kayaking and paddleboarding. When the tides are low, you can even explore beautiful sandbars and tide pools. Access is limited, with small parking lots, and there are no public restrooms. Fort Matanzas National Monument, a fortified coquina watchtower, is also just across the river. Built in 1742, Fort Matanzas defended the city of St. Augustine from British attack, and has stood in the Inlet for more than 250 years. You can ferry over to see reenactments and demonstrations and explore nature trails through the maritime forest.

Washington Oaks Gardens State Park: 6400 N Ocean Shore Blvd. Palm Coast, FL 32137

While technically in Palm Coast, Washington Oaks is only 5 miles south of Matanzas Inlet (just a 7 minute drive). Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is a stunning formal garden surrounded by an ancient live oak hammock, filled with azaleas, camellias, roses and birds of paradise. This beachfront park has a unique shoreline of giant coquina rock formations along the Atlantic beach, perfect for beachcombing, tidal pool exploring and photography. Often referred to as “The Rocks,” it’s one of Northeast Florida’s best-kept secrets. Visitors can picnic and explore from either the Atlantic side or the seawall along the Matanzas River, on the park’s westside. Spend the day at the beach, along the river, or hiking, birding, fishing or strolling through the gardens.

Lastly, to help preserve the beauty and health of our beaches, here are some things to keep in mind:

Dogs are welcome on all beaches, but are required to be on a leash at all times, both in the water and on the beach.

Open fires, like bonfires, are not permitted.

All waste, including pet waste, must be properly disposed of.

These items are not permitted at any time: alcoholic beverages, glass, balloons, fireworks, flashlights and drones.

Use only designated beach access points, including footpaths and walkovers. Natural dunes and vegetation are extremely important to the stability of our shoreline and should not be trampled.

Do not harass, touch or disturb wildlife, including keeping all lights minimized at night to protect nesting and hatching sea turtles.

St. Johns County is welcoming its first authentic Indian grocery store, and, lucky for us, it’s located at the stunningly new The Forum at Greenbriar Shopping Center. The Forum is centrally located near the intersection of St. Johns Parkway and Old County Road 210, just a short distance from I-95 and an array of residential communities. Desi Pantry is planning a grand opening for late summer/early fall.

Desi Pantry owner Jay Madhavaram moved to Northeast Florida in 2019 from Southern India and was able to find Indian pantry staples in Jacksonville; however, when he relocated to St. Augustine in 2022, he still had to travel to buy the groceries he needed. “I was having to drive over an hour each way to find the products I needed,” shares Madhavaram. “Once I started connecting with other members of the community, I found that they shared the same frustrations. People are busy, and the last thing you want to do is spend two hours in the car when there are friends, kids, work and a thousand other things to do in a day. With Desi Pantry, people have an easily accessible place to grab quality products, produce, and meat while saving time.”

Desi Pantry is a family-owned and operated specialty grocery store that offers authentic Indian staples, including lentils, curries and other premium packaged goods. It spans 4,036 square feet across four units on the ground floor of The Forum at Greenbriar. Products are sourced from high-quality vendors and feature cuisines from all across India. Fresh produce is obtained from local vendors. The store also sells Halal meat, with an on-site butcher expertly preparing fresh cuts sourced from Florida producers.

Many cultures and religions have specific dietary guidelines. Halal is an Arabic word meaning ‘permissible,’ and it denotes food suitable for those practicing Islam. Halal meat must come from an allowed cut (for example, meat from the hindquarters is forbidden) of an allowed animal (pork and reptile meat are not considered Halal) and must be butchered in a very specific way by a certified Halal butcher. A key principle of Halal meat is that the animal must have been raised healthily, free from suffering and butchered humanely. Desi Pantry will not carry beef.

Madhavaram is also planning to open a full-service café once Desi Pantry is established. Located right next door, Chicha’s Café will occupy 2,257 square feet and serve authentic Indian dishes. The shopping plaza also features restaurants, a coffee shop, healthcare services, yoga and more.

Stay tuned for news about Desi Pantry and Chicha’s Café on Instagram @desipantry_fl

The post Desi Pantry first appeared on Blog Journal for World Golf Village | WGV - Northeast Florida.
