This book was very different than the books I normally read. I have read very few non fiction books, so I wasn't sure what to expect from this one. But right from the beginning, I found this book to be very insightful and helpful in our day to day life.

I needed some motivation in my life, and this was a perfect book for me. I loved the simplicity of this book, it's not one of those books which just talks and talks about positivity, because real life is not always flowers and happiness. And we have to accept that fact. This book talks about little things that you can add to your daily goals, and actually feel like you have achieved something.

We always come to a point in our life where we feel lost, or don't know what to do, and such self help books always contribute in some way. If you take at least one advice and it makes your life better, it's a book worth reading. This book talks about almost everything phase of our life, and how to react to the problems that we face. There were many things that really stayed with me, and I definitely needed some positive vibes and motivation in my life, so this book was a perfect read.

And if you have some time on your hands, this book isn't very long and will definitely help you overcome little hurdles in your life. If you need a little push, go and read this book!

Book review: Eating Wasps by Anita Nair

This was my first book by Anita Nair, and I'm amazed by her writing. I loved a good suspense novel, and Eating Wasps was one brilliant story with topics that'll leave a mark on your heart and will stay with you forever.

Many stories of women interconnect, and forms one meaningful read. Though these ladies don't know each other, there's something which links their life, their fierceness, and the way they handled everything, I just didn't want this book to get over. There's acid attack survivor, a writer, and many other women who had flaws in their character, but the author didn't hide it, in fact those flaws made the characters even more real.

I finished the book in one sitting, as pages just flew by reading this heartwarming book. I was hooked as soon as I started the book, then few hours later, I had finished it and was contemplating a lot things in my life and the things that happens with the characters in this book.

What I loved about this book was that it focused on women, strong, women, who has faced many problems, but never gave up on life.

Ghost and writers are more alike than you think. We can be what you want us to be. We can hear your thoughts even if you don't tell us. We can read the silences and shape your stories as if they happen to us, and I was both: a ghost and a writer.

Those lines spoke to me. There are so many more quotes and lines that I have highlighted because I'm sure I'm gonna reread it someday. The reference here of Ghost is not out of blue, it holds a meaning, which you'll find out when you read it.
This was a beautiful yet heartbreaking story. I’m definitely a fan of Anita Nair after this book, and am definitely going to read more by her! If you love suspense, and books which focuses on strong women, do check out this book!

Review: All You Perfects by Colleen Hoover

I can easily sum up all of Colleen Hoover's books in few words - Emotional, heartbreaking, and raw.

Her stories has evolved so much over the time. I still remember reading her first novel, Hopeless, and falling in love with her writing and the characters. Her stories have always managed to touch my heart, even if I didn't relate to some parts of it. I used to love her romance novels, which made me believe that even though sometimes thing don't work out the way you want to, it all gets better eventually. Her stories are so emotional, but also gives you hope. And even now, her recent stories have been equally great. I will say that I cannot relate to the issues these characters are going through, but it still breaks my heart to read it.

I'll try to not give away the gist of this novel, because it's better if you experience it yourself. All Your Perfects is written alternatively in past and present chapters, which I feel was much needed because of how heavy some scenes got. This story is mainly about a couple dealing with infertility (probably the first book I've read on this topic), and because of that, both of them goes through phases of depression, desperately trying to make their marriage work.

Along with their struggle with infertility, this story also shows how mean the society can be, and how once the woman reaches a certain age, they start asking about kids. I really liked Colleen Hoover's take on this, because her stories are never sugar coated, and yet you'll be able to find something inspiring in it. Like every other CoHo story, even this one had me close to tears. And because the story is written in both past and present, one moment I'll be reading how happy they are together in past, and next chapter, I'm almost crying because of how badly they both were suffering.

All the time, I kept wondering what will happen to them, because even when the story came close to the ending, I had now idea how it was going to end. But this book was everything I thought it would be! It's a prefect CoHo novel. It will tear your heart out, but it also reaffirms your faith in love. Here's one of my favorite quote from the book, which perfectly explains my thoughts -

“What's the secret to a perfect marriage?' The old man leaned forward and looked at me very seriously. 'Our marriage hasn't been perfect. No marriage is perfect. There were times when she gave up on us. There were even more times when I gave up on us. The secret to our longevity is that we never gave up at the same time.”

“Be a little kinder than you have to.”

I'm just gonna be honest. I loved this book, and at the same time I was really annoyed by it. First 50% was just meh. Like, I was so bored I literally felt like DNFing it. But I kept on reading because everyone seemed to love it.

Plus points for the ending. Because I usually don't cry while reading books, but this one had me sobbing! But I can't ignore the fact that I was bored for most of the part.

There's no way to describe the story, because I'll probably spoil the ending. I believe that this book is a hit or miss. If you loved it from the beginning, you'd probably end up giving it five stars.

First off, the purple prose. The author could've gone light on that. The writing irritated me so much!! Second of all, the entire plot revolving around Cady and Gat, and Cady wondering if Gat will come back or not was way too cliched. After a point it gets boring.

I won't lie, i loved the last 30 or so pages, but by then, I had already started guessing the ending. It did prove me wrong, and I did cry, but when I think about it now, it was just those last few pages that were powerful.

This book is way too hyped, and I can see why. If I didn't think about the entire plot, I would've probably ended up giving it 5 stars because of all the emotional mess I was in after reading the ending.

I would still recommend it, because majority of people has loved this book. I expected too much from this one, maybe that's why it didn't live up to the hype. But still, a really good story.

Okay, so let me start off by saying that this is one of those rare books that you stumble upon, and end up loving it! I don't read many books in this genre, but I had seen this book around and decided to give it a try.

This book is about the journey of five men, who are stuck at a point from where they don't know how to get ahead, and are constantly thinking of ways to make their life more meaningful.

What I really love about this book is how it gives you hope and encourages you to do things out of your comfort zone, and keeping it real.

I was hooked onto the story right from the beginning. It's all about the perspective, and your lookout on life and relationships. We all have different inspirations, and we all use different methods to face our problems, but in the end, it's all about living a happy, meaningful life.

The story is written in a manner which will make you think about your life and what you're doing with it. It's not a self help book, but you sure will learn a lot from the journey of these men.

The book is written in a very simple manner, in fact too simple. Because the story is very powerful, and it would've turned out even better if the writing wasn't so monotonous. That's the only point I thought needed to be worked on, because other than that, I absolutely love the message this book is trying to convey.

It was such a great experience, reading this book. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a simple, meaningful read, because I assure you, the story like this will stay with you for a very long time.

My review

I've been wanting to read this book for a long time, and finally I decided to pick it up and finished it in one sitting!! This book is very fast paced and a nice quick read.

The story revolves around two characters, Karan and Milli. Both has lead very different lives, Karan being a rich business man and Milli, who works at airport. But one day, call it fate, they somehow meet, and their love story takes off!

It's a very simple yet heart melting love story of two people, who despite being opposite of each other, falls in love and overcome many challenges. Karan has his own secrets, so it becomes more difficult for him to connect to another person, but no one can do anything when there's love. It's a pretty good story, and very well executed.

The author has written a decent story with characters who has had troubled past. There isn't any wow factor to it, but still I was hooked the entire time I was reading it, so plus points for that!

Surprisingly, the writing was very impressive. I don't usually have high expectations from contemporary novels, there are some books like these which actually turn out to be a fun read.

It was a one time read for me, so I'd recommend if you want to read a light romantic novel!

Top 5 places to visit in Udaipur

Hey guys!

So I'm back again, with a different kind of blog post. This time, I decided to share my experience of visiting Udaipur. I thought, since this is my personal blog, and I love travelling, why not include that too? That way, I'll be able to keep track of my travelling adventures!

So it was a quick decision to visit Rajasthan, India. We've been wanting to take a vacation for almost entire summer, so it was about time. And finally we decided on Udaipur, which is also called City of Lakes.

So here I am going to share top 5 places that you must visit on your trip to Udaipur.

1. City Palace.

Now, City Palace is something you just can't miss! Right from its historic architecture, to the view out looking entire city, this Palace is simply beautiful. The intricate carvings on its walls, the history of Raja and Rani (King and Queen), the equipment they used in their life, it's all really intriguing.

I love learning about historic moments, so this was a perfect place for me.

The entry fee is 330 Rs. for an adult, but if you're a student like me, just show them your id and you'll get the entry for only 120 Rs.!

2. Lake Pichola

Udaipur itself is called City of Lakes, so the trip is incomplete without visiting one of the famous lakes, Lake Pichola. It's situated in the center of the city, and if you decided to go boating in it, which I highly recommend, you'll able to see Lake Palace from up close. Lake palace is one of the best places to stay (and pricey) in Udaipur, many shoots of movies has taken place in this palace, so you can only imagine.

3. Saheliyon Ki Bari

This garden have been famous since ages, literally. And even now, it looks same as before. It has its own history, plus really pretty flowers and scenery.

4. Monsoon Palace.

We didn't plan on going here, but our friend told us about this place, and it seemed pretty cool in pictures, so we made an impromptu trip on the last day of our stay. Unfortunately, when we went, renovation was in progress, so we couldn't see much of this Palace, but the view from there was breathtaking!! Even this has appeared in many movies!

5. Hathipole Market.

This is Udaipur's local market, and you'll find all the traditional clothes, jewelry, showcases here. If you're in mood for shopping and want to get souvenirs, do visit this place.

Bookstagram for beginners: Posts, followers, review copies, and much more!

Hey everyone! So I’ve been thinking of writing a blog post related to bookstagram for a while, and I finally decided to go with it. I, by no means, am an expert on bookstagramming, but I’ve been running my account for two years now so I do know a thing or two.

I asked my lovely friends on instagram to send me some questions they’d like me to answer, so I’m gonna answer 7 questions in this post. It’s mainly for readers who have just started their bookstagram account, so I thought it’d be helpful if I answered few commonly asked questions here!

1. Which apps/software do I use for editing pictures.

Okay, as many of my photos are based on themes, I have to make a lot of changes in original picture. So majority of my editing of pictures is done on photoshop, as you can easily change backgrounds, blend photos, make the background blurry, etc. about the last feature, I know many apps let you blur the background, but it also reduces the quality of your image, so I think PS is best for that.

After editing, I use VSCO for adding filters and enhancing the photos. It has a feature where you can copy and paste your coloring settings, which is really helpful if you have a theme.

2. How to take clear pictures.

Pictures will turn out great when they are taken in natural light. At first I didn’t know that, but ever since I have started taking pictures during noon, the quality of my pictures have improved a lot because of that.

3. Here are some basic tips for people who are thinking of starting a bookstagram, or have just started it.

To be honest, bookstagram community is the best and welcomes you right away. If you want to start bookstagram, just take pictures and start posting! No one is perfect, my first photo was of a yellow and blue books stacked on my bookshelf. Doesn’t make sense, but at that time I thought it was creative haha. So just start posting pictures, use some good tags, take time in knowing people, and you are good to go!

4 4. How to reach more people/accounts.

There are many ways for this. My reason for joining bookstagram was to meet more people who loves reading as much as me, so I always try to interact with as many people as I can. It’s not practical to talk to everyone you follow, because there are a lot of them! What you can do is keep in touch by comment on posts time to time. Because we have to put in effort if we want engagement on our account.

Also, hashtags are the best way for finding new accounts! There are hundreds of hashtags which you can go through, and find many creative accounts. This will result in increase in your engagement and eventually, your post will start to appear on more people’s feed. Because this is the best way to beat the algorithm. The only thing is, don’t let this get to you, because then it feels like a chore and you lose interest in it. So talk to only 5 people, but do it because you genuinely like their accounts!

5. 5 How early can bookstagrammers ask for review copies.

This has been asked a lot. I used to get many review copies, but for some time, I’ve stopped accepting those because I wanted to focus on the books I’ve been waiting to read!

The only thing you need to have is consistency. If you are uploading at least one review in a week, and are posting pictures regularly, it’s really helpful when you request for review copies.

To be honest, you just have to ask publishers for it. And if they have room for new reviewers, they’ll add you to their list. Having a blog is a huge plus, so do mention that when you send a request. I remember I got review copy when my instagram account only had like 1200 followers, but I did update my blog regularly then.

So make sure that your bookstagram and other social media are updated regularly before requesting review copies.

6.How much influence a hashtag has on the post.

Okay, now this is kinda important. We all know there’s a limit of 30 hashtags for every post, if you go above that, your caption gets blank and you have to type everything again. it has happened with me and I hated it haha.

As I said, hastags are best way to find new accounts, and vice versa. So what you need to do is post hashtags which are related to the post and bookstgram. Make sure you’re not using any banned hashtag, because if there’s even one, your post will not appear under any of the hashtags.

Don’t always use same tags, this will make instagram think that it’s a spam account and less people will see your posts.

7. The difference between business profile and normal profile.

I have been using business profile for a while as I am a freelancer. There are many benefits of business profile. You can know at which time your followers are most active, which is the most important thing to keep in mind when posting a picture. Business provides detailed insights on the profile visits, total reach, and much more. My favorite thing about this is that I can post when I know my followers are active. Because most of the time, we make mistake of posting it on wrong time, which results in less likes.

If you don’t have business profile, you just need to experiment and see which time works best for you! Also, business profile is very helpful if you’re starting an online business.

Review: Where She Went by Gayle Forman

I read If I Stay years ago, and I still remember everything from it. The love, the heartbreak, losing family. The first book was filled with raw emotions like grief and loss, but also there was hope. Back then, If I stay was one of the most emotional books I had read, but now, after reading the sequel to it, I would definitely say that this one was more intense and engaging than the first one. Although the first book is about death, Where She Went is about healing, living with the demons of past and trying to overcome the grief that those deaths had brought.

Where She Went starts off 3 years after the accident takes place. And at this point, Adam and Mia are living separate lives, which makes you wonder what actually happened to them that they are not together anymore. This book is by Adam's perspective, which I really liked because it gave me a chance to know him, to see how much he was affected by what happened with Mia and her family.

We can see how miserable Adam is, how much he wants to be with Mia, but doesn't know what went wrong three years ago that it broke them apart. I'll be honest, I liked Adam's Pov more than Mia's. Adam and Mia both needed closure to move on with their lives, and when they meet after all these years, it's Adam's only chance to ask Mia what happened after that accident.

Mia takes Adam to this tour of New York, where they visit places like Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge. And I'm the kind of person who loves reading about new places, so that fact that I actually visited New York last year made those scenes even more interesting!! It was like when they were talking around the streets, I could picture the places, which made the reading experience even more fun.

What I loved about this book, and what made it really special to me is how raw and real the story is. It was like I was there with Adam, experiencing that heart break. And the story with which I can connect to on such high level always has a very special place in my heart.

Review: Turtles All the Way Down by John Green.

“I would never slay the dragon, because the dragon was also me.”

I am going to be honest and say that the way Aza's OCD and anxiety is potrayed is completely on point and genuine. I can actually see her struggling through it, how even after fighting it so much, anxiety takes over her mind and makes her question her every move. That was something I could relate on some level, and I really appreciate that John Green has wrote about it in a very realistic way. You can actually see how hard Aza is trying to fight it, but then comes a point when even she cannot control her thoughts no matter how much she tries. It was all just too real and heartbreaking to see how something so small, just a couple of thoughts then becomes something more than what a human mind can control.

This book would've been a brilliant read had it only focused on the main character and her life. There was so much to explore, about her thoughts and how it affected the people around her. But while you are reading and connecting with Aza, this plot of missing person keeps popping up after every few pages. And don't take me wrong, I love mysterious plots, and Paper Towns is a great example of it. But here it just seemed unnecessary and forced.

I mean, one moment you're reading about a very serious issue, and then suddenly we have bunch of teenagers talking about god knows what! I mean, even I used to wonder about many things as a teenager,. Sometimes you just start talking about something and it ends up becoming this deep and meaningful conversation. Now just take those conversations and add them to every text and dialogue. And that's how most of Aza and David's conversations go. Like, can't just they have some normal conversations once in a while?!!

Watching Aza's character grow was so beautiful, but then typical john green twists shows up. Like our characters acting way ahead of their age. Also in this case, a very unnecessary plot of how Davis' father goes missing. And the thing is that the main plot about this whole mystery isn't even being developed that much, and even at the end it's just plain.

I can go on and on about the flaws of this book, but I won't. And after having said all that, I would still recommend this book to my friends mainly because I LOVE, LOVE how John Green has dealt with the situation of a main character having anxiety. And that's the only reason I'm giving this book three starts.

Plus, being a John Green book, you can always expect a lot of beautiful quotes. To be honest, I wanted to highlight 50% of my copy with because John Green is brilliant! And here are some of my favorite quotes -

“Anybody can look at you. It's quite rare to find someone who sees the same world you see.”

“You're both the fire and the water that extinguishes it. You're the narrator, the protagonist, and the sidekick. You're the storyteller and the story told. You are somebody's something, but you are also your you.”

Review: This Savage Song by Victoria Scwab

I finished this book a few minutes ago and I'm......speechless. I've been a fan of Victoria Schwab's stories ever since I read A Darker Shade of Magic few years ago. And I'll admit that I was hesitant starting this book because her Shades of Magic series had set up pretty high expectations, and even though I really enjoyed this book, ADSOM series will always remain my favorite. <3

I love reading fantasy, and the reason she's one of my favorite authors is how different her stories are. There are tons of books on monsters and villians, but her stories always stand out from others.
Schwab has a way with words that makes her stories so compelling and unique, the world filled with villains and monsters and yet you can't help but connect with the characters. The characters are so well written in this book, the way the reason behind the existence of monsters is depicted, it was all too brilliant. There's no doubt that whatever she writes, I'm going to read it.

This entire book was one crazy journey with badass characters who fought monsters, had an evil purpose but on the inside were just two people who were trying to stay alive and not let their evil side destroy the world. It was so much fun following August and Kate's lives, how their characters developed, and my opinion about them in the beginning was so wrong. And after first half of the book, I just flew through the pages because so much was happening at once, a lot of things were at risk, and all I wanted was to see how August and Kate would deal with it.

And I must admit that I wasn't too impressed with the ending, hence four stars. I just felt like it was not that epic, considering all the action there was in the book. The ending was just too....simple? Anyways, I still loved reading it. I'm still really looking forward to read Our Dark Duet, because I just have to know how this story ends. And since I already have the second book, I'm highly considering picking it up straight away.

If you're a fan of fantasy or love Victoria Schwab's work, then I would definitely recommend this book. It's a really good book with strong plot and amazing characters!!!

Review: A List of Cages by Robin Roe

“It's strange how many ways there are to miss someone. You miss the things they did and who they were, but you also miss who you were to them. The way everything you said and did was beautiful or entertaining or important. How much you mattered.”

This book was so difficult to read at times, that I just don't how to write review of such a heart-breaking book. I'd also like to mention that this book deals with child abuse (physical and mental) and Stockholm Syndrome. I just felt like I needed to mention it so if anyone decides to read it, they know what they're getting into.

Now coming to the book, it's a story about two boys, Adam who is in his senior year and has ADHD, and Julian, who has dyslexia and has just started his high school. Adam has know Julian from his childhood when he was his foster brother, but then Julian's uncle came and took him away. So when he sees Julian again after few years, he doesn't know much about him, but there's something about him that has changed.

What I loved in this book was how Adam was always there for Julian. As much sad as it was reading through Julian's life, and how his uncle treated him, Adam always gave me hope. He was such a bright child, and would always cheer up everyone around him. Although he was struggling with his own past and troubles, he always made sure that Julian was okay. He was practically like Julian's older brother. And I don't even want to think what would've happened to Julian if Adam wasn't there to motivate and push him on every step in his life.

While this book is overall intense and deals with very serious topics, it's also funny during some parts. Adam has very cheerful personality, which I think was really necessary in this otherwise emotional story.

I went into this book knowing nothing about it, I hadn't even read the blurb so I didn't know what to expect. But I certainly didn't expect to read a gut wrenching story which left me all teary at the end. The first part was a bit confusing and also slow paced, but it picked up very quickly after a while and then I just couldn't stop reading it. The story got very intense, especially when Julian's uncle (who makes me sick !) finds out that Julian has been hanging out with Adam. He had made Julian so isolated that he wouldn't even let him talk to anyone. And it's more horrible than it sounds, there were some parts which I just wanted to skip because of how intense and horrible it got with Julian.

Having said all that, I think it's a very beautiful story about friendship. Friendship was the only thing Julian had, and I was so happy that he had Adam, Emerald, and even Charlie as his friend. I could see, how their friendship helped Julian throughout the story, made him attempt to take part in school activities he never would have tried to if not for them. I just love how this story portrays friendship between characters. Not to mention Adam's mother, who was always supportive but also knew when to take charge of the situation and help her child.

While I loved this book, I also had few issues with it. I really wish this book had showed more about the side characters. Especially Charlie, who in the beginning came off as a very arrogant kid, but actually turned out be a very caring and kind. And I would have loved to know more about him as a person rather than just seeing him in some scenes. The other issue I had was that the ending felt too rushed. After reading the book, I wasn't surprised with the ending, and I think it was perfect too, but still I would've preferred it a bit long and detailed than just finishing it in one small scene.

Other than that, I really loved this book and would definitely recommend it. If you're not triggered by the topics I mentioned in the beginning, you should definitely check it out!

Review: A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

A Monster Calls is a deeply moving and emotional story of a boy named Conor, whose mother is ill and there's nothing he can do about it. But that's not what's in this book, no. While Conor's still trying to cope with his mother's illness and bullying in his school, there's a monster outside of his house who might or might not be an imagination. You don't know if the monster is actually a monster, or it's just a dream Conor is having. But that doesn't scare him, because has had far more horrifying nightmare which he can never forget.

It's mainly about Conor, and how his moher's illness affects him and how afraid he is because he knows what's coming next, but he's too afraid to acknowledge. The part that surprised me most is how well the monster and his tales relates to Conor's life. You might think why there is a monster in a story of a boy and his mom, but the way Patrick Ness has written this story, with words which will touch your heart, it all makes sense in the end. To be honest, I had no idea what this book was about, but once I started reading it, I just couldn't put it down. And three hours later, I had finished the book, trying to process everything that happened, and trying to calm down my heart for an emotional rollercoaster that this book was.

This was such a beautiful book. And while reading the book, I couldn't help but think about the monsters people face in their life. Those monsters might not be visible, but they are there, and it doesn't always have to be a bad thing. Because just like in this book, every bad thing, even the monsters have a purpose. Here the monster traded three tales for Conor's one truth, and while it didn't seem that important in the beginning, it all made sense at the end.

This book might be sad, but it also shows the courage it takes to let go. Letting go the only thing that matters in your life, and how important it is. Conor's story definitely touched my heart, the pain he felt for his mother, his constant denial and hoping that his mother would get well, but also afraid of saying the truth, because sometimes becomes more real if you say it, all that was so raw and painful to read. But I am so glad that I picked up this book. I learned so much from it, and I'm sure it's going to stay with me for a very long time.

If you're having second thoughts about it, and think it's over hyped, please just pick up this book and read it! I'm sure you won't regret. It's a small book of 230 pages, but you'll be an emotional mess after finishing it. It's such a beautiful book and need to be read by everyone!

Review: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

I can totally see why this story has become so huge, and now turned into a show. While scrolling through everyone's review, I saw that most of them had given it high ratings. I might not totally agree with the story, which is apparent from my three star rating, but I still think it's a very important book. The only issue I had was that the story didn't truly justify the suicide.

This is a very intense book, discussing many serious issues, but most importantly: suicide. The story starts off after Hannah commits suicide, and leaves cassette tapes with thirteen reasons why she ended her life. And while I think the message this book gives is very important and should be read by everyone, how even a small act you do could leave a major impact on other's life, I still feel confused, and can't fully agree with some of Hannah's reasons. One might think how such a small action drove her towards ending her life, but it added to the pain and struggles she was going through at that time.

I've had this book for about two years, but most of the time I avoided it since the topic seemed too heave to me. But when I got to know that it was turned into a show, the book came to my attention again and I finally picked it up. I already knew that the book dealt with suicide, but it also touches the issues like bullying and rape.

While I couldn't wrap my mind around the suicide, I did understand what every tape was trying to say. It shows how cruel a person could be, how far they would go just to hurt someone without thinking of the outcome. Hannah's story started same way, one small action, one thing that was supposed to be joke, started it all. As we progress through the story, there are characters which are mentioned in Hannah's story, and the things they did literally had me angry at how low a person can go. We often read about rape, and the bullying that happens to girls, and guys, and how horrifying it is. This book has many scenes which are just too terrifying to read.

I have read some books which deals with topics like suicide, but most of them have been written in a way that gives you hope, but I don't think I can say same for this story. We all know that the main character is already dead, and the tapes are all flashbacks, but the thing that makes this story stand out is the way it portrays the emotion of Hannah, her relationship with all the students and people around her and how they affect her life.

I just think that the suicide of Hannah, which was the main plot, wasn't discussed properly. I mean, she knew how badly the bullying affected her life, how all those people who intentionally (or some unintentionally) hurt her, so I just didn't get the blaming that she did in her tapes. I know it was a big deal for her, but if you tell someone that a person died because you took few notes from their bag, and you're responsible for it, you don't know what kind of impact it'll have on that person. I'm not defending any of the characters, because some of them actually need to be punished, and even this realization through tapes isn't enough. But I'm just saying that blaming someone for suicide is a very big thing, so it just got me a bit confused when I thought about it.

But most of all, it reminds you that if you know someone who's feeling down, or seems even a bit off, you have to reach out to them, not matter what.

Review: A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

A Darker Shade of Magic introduced me to the different kinds of londons and some badass characters.

A Gathering of Shadow had Essen Tasch, a competition of magical elements. Which had a lot of actions, and introduced many new characters, one of them being Alucard, a handsome pirate whom I'll love forever!

A Conjuring of Light ? Feels. Feels everywhere. Yeah, that's the only thing I am capable of thinking. So many things happen in this 600 pages book that it's almost impossible to wrap it up in a review. But I'll say this: Conjuring of Light has one of the best villains I've ever read. The story gives off dark vibes from the beginning of the book, as it starts exactly where AGOS left, and now Osarun, the villain, has become more powerful and almost impossible to destroy.

“I have never known what to make of you. Not since the day we met. And it terrifies me. You terrify me. And the idea of you walking away again, vanishing from my life, that terrifies me most of all.”

First off, can I just say that I love Kell? He has changed so much since the first book! Seeing him getting all flirty was the best part of this book! We knew that he loved her in his own way, but that is nothing compared to the scenes of them in this book!! They both are such strong personalities individually, yet when they are together, it just melts your heart seeing how much love there is between them!

Lila was still the bold and badass thief, but now she also had magic. There was a small scene of her with Holland, where I finally believed that Lila has changed, that she wasn't that careless girl anymore. But I'll always remember Lila as a girl who feared nothing, who lived like she owned the world.

While Rhy was only shown as Kell's brother in first two books, in ACOL, his character goes through huge development, showing that he was a true prince. I've always loved Rhy for his charm and sense of humor, but in this book, that Rhy was completely gone. Instead, there was a grown up Rhy, who didn't need anyone, who didn't hesitate when the danger came and stood in front of it to save his people. I really admired him, and the things he did in this book, without anyone at his side. He truly is a great character! Rhy and Alucard are LOVE <3 and="" badly="" blockquote="" giddy="" happines="" i="" literally="" made="" me="" scenes="" ship="" so="" their="" them="" with="">'Picking out a gift?' asked the captain.
'No.'
'Good, then take this'. He dropped a ring into Kell's hand.
Kell frowned. 'I'm flattered, but I think you're asking the wrong brother.”
I also loved the funny banters between Alucard and Kell. They never liked eathother, but it was so funny to see them try to adjust to each other's presence because of Rhy. And their conversations had the funniest dialogues!

Now comes the most important character of this book. Holland. My poor Holland. His chapters literally broke my heart. And to clear it out, I hated him in first two books, but in this one? My heart ached for him, and for the torture he went through in his life. I've never seen such destroyed soul in my life, and the way everyone acted around him made me only sadder. I mean, he's already been through so much, and here he is, still taking all the pain!! And I know that this was meant to happen, that Holland did have a brutal past, but it still didn't make anything less painful. The ending was probably the most intense part of the book, and I actually had to put the book aside because it was just too sad!

Now that the happy things are over (well, the last paragraph wasn't really happy), let me tell you one thing: Be prepared for deathly action scenes. Yup, the level of ~~death~~ danger (my heart!!) has gotten very high in this book, and a lot of dark magic is used in it. Many lives are taken, many things destroyed, but everything happens for a reason.

A Conjuring of Light was the perfect conclusion to the Shades of Magic series. This book is full of actions, funny banters, some romance, and lots of magic. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO EVERYONE. Yeah, I had to write it in caps so that everyone got the message :P But seriously guys, read this series if you haven't already!!!

“The more you start to love someone, the more you ache when they’re gone, and maybe it’s that middle ground that hurts the most, when you can see them and still not feel like you’re near enough.”

Wow. This was such an emotional and moving story, and nothing like I had thought it would be. This was definitely not a cute love story, at least not entirely focused on romance, which was the first impression I got when I read the blurb. But this book was so much better! Emmy and Oliver just became one of my top favorite contemporary reads!!

I had no idea about the book, especially when the title gives no hint and even the blurb doesn't clear anything. The characters in this story deals with some very heave and emotional situations, but despite that, the author managed to keep the scenes light with cute and funny moments between the main characters. We are being told that Oliver, Emmy's childhood best friend was kidnapped by his father and then never came back. But then Oliver returns one day and everything changes after that.

Emmy, who never forgot Oliver and always kept waiting for him to come back, comes to a realization that a lot of things has changed over these years, and with that, even Oliver has changed. She has to adjust a lot with the new changes in her life, with having to deal with Oliver and her parents, who always worry about her, ever since Oliver disappeared.

While Emmy and Oliver are getting to know each other again, the troubles with Emmy's parents keeps on getting more and more serious. Her parents were so paranoid, it was even annoying sometimes that they wouldn't let her do something just because they thought it wasn't safe for her. And while doing that, they didn't know that they were pushing her away with all the restrictions instead of understanding her. I felt really bad for Emmy in many parts, but at some point I could also see why her parents were like that. Seeing a child getting kidnapped is not a thing you forget easily, especially not when it's someone close to you, and Oliver's disappearance changed many people's lives.

It was a really emotional story, with the characters dealing with their past, accepting the new change in their lives (in this case, it was Oliver), and also living with a guilt that he was the reason why all that happened when actually it wasn't really his fault. Oliver's situation was the worst, and it was so sad to see him struggle to fit in this new life, when he was still trying to figure out what was right and what was wrong. My heart ached for Oliver whenever he would get emotional over his father, knowing that his father had kidnapped him, but still couldn't erase all those years he's been living with him. There was always a conflict between his heart and mind, but I was really glad that Emmy was with him the entire time.

There's not a lot of romance, to be honest. It's more about friendships, old love, family, and accepting changes. You might not be able to see any huge plot in this story, but the emotions? They're real, the raw emotions between the main characters will touch your heart. This entire story was so beautiful, even though it did made me teary in a lot of scenes, but this book was so worth it.

Even the characters in this book are very relatable. With Emmy, Oliver, and their best friends, it was one amazing group of characters. I also adored their friendship with each other, how they would stick with each other in all the situations, and even though their friendships had few ups and downs, they always talked it through and tried to solve the issues. And even their fights were adorable!!

It was such a great read, with a lot of emotional moments, but more of funny and cute scenes which I really enjoyed. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who's looking for a nice contemporary romance.

Since it was my birthday month, I received quite a few books in February!! Seven books from this picture were gifted to me on my birthday ( the ones except When The Moon Was Ours and A Conjuring of Light) I got When The Moon Was Ours in a valentine book exchange I did with my group. And I received my preorder of A Conjuring of Light only yesterday (28th feb). I just finished my reread of the series, so I am really excited to star ACOL!

Short review: Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

This was such a beautiful collection of poems. I don't usually read poems, in fact this is probably the first poetry book I own. I've read very few poems, but I kept stumbling upon this book over and over so I finally decided to read it. And I am so glad that I did!

The poems are so well written, and the best thing about it is that everyone can relate to it. The poems are broken into four parts - hurt, love, pain, and healing, shows every phase of life through these strong, and beautifully written poems.

The poems are written in a very simple way, but the message it gives, the impact it has is very strong. I couldn't relate to some parts, like the hurt, where the subject was too dark and heavy, but still there were some poems which really touched my heart. But rest of the three parts were beautiful, some parts which I could completely relate to, and the last part which was very inspirational and uplifting.

Review: History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera

After reading Adam Silvera's debut novel More Happy Than Not, I thought I was prepared for this. But apparently, I was wrong. Nothing could've prepared me for all the feelings I went through while reading this book. Right from the beginning, it is shown that the main character Griffin is grieving the death of his boyfriend, and the story how everything happened unfolds with each new chapter, alternating between present and past.

“People are complicated puzzles, always trying to piece together a complete picture, but sometimes we get it wrong and sometimes we’re left unfinished. Sometimes that’s for the best. Some pieces can’t be forced into a puzzle, or at least they shouldn’t be, because they won’t make sense.”

I had no idea how this book would turn out when I started it, especially when I knew so little about what happened between the characters, but one thing was clear - I was going to be an emotional mess after finishing this book. And that's exactly what happened. Adam Silvera has a way of writing which connects to you, every word speaks to your heart, and also tears you apart without you even knowing it. Both of his books are so emotional, and has one thing in common - pain of losing someone. I still remember crying over MHTN last year when I read it, and this book had the exact same effect on me. Adam Silvera's writing is simply beautiful, and more than that, the stories he writes are so worth reading because it deals with characters whom you can connect to, their stories which will leave you emotionally exhausted, but still you can't stop reading it.

This story is of Griffin, who is grieving the death of his first love, Theo. This book is completely character driven, and deals with the complex relationships between four guys, whose lives are somehow connect because of one person - Theo. Theo plays very important role in this story, as he was Griffin's first love and best friend, but then has a new boyfriend in California, Jackson, and is also a best friend of Wade. Theo, Wade, and Griffin are shown to be very close friends, and I really adored their friendship. In between all this, Griffin also deals with his ocd. As the story progresses, we can see how much his ocd is affecting his life, and the people around him. But everything changes at one point, and their relationship with each other take a completely different turn. And the reason behind that is revealed in parts throughout the book.

There are also side characters which contributes a lot to this story, like Griffin's parents, whom I loved because they were always so supportive of him and it showed how much they cared for him. Which reminds me of the hilarious scenes between Wade, Theo, Griffin, and his parents. Although this book is very heavy, there are enough funny scenes, nerdy references, and witty comments to balance it out.

History Is All You Left Me is a story of pain, grief, loss, love, and friendship. It shows how painful it is to let go of the person whom you love the most, to tell them you're happy when you're not, so that they can move on in their life. This book might be very emotional, but it's worth reading. If you think that this book is too heavy, it's not. It has its funny moments. And I highly recommend reading this book, it's a beautiful story and you'll be glad that you read the book once you reach at the end of the book.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I loved more/less than I expected

Hey guys! So this week's theme for Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Brooke and The Bookish is ten books I loved less/more than I expected. This is the first time I'm doing this meme, and I decided instead of writing about the books I liked, or didn't like, I thought I would do both. So I'll be sharing 5 books that exceeded my expectations, and the 5 books which were underwhelming.

Books that exceeded my expectations:

1. On The Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

I found On The Jellicoe road randomly while scrolling through Goodreads. I hadn't heard much about this book, and even now I don't see many people reading it, but it's one of those book that'll stay with you for a very long time. This story is about love, friendship, grief, guilt, forgiveness, all woven together and forming a beautiful story. It takes some time to get into, but once you do, you just can't stop reading it. It's a very powerful book and would definitely recommend it to everyone!

2. Made You Up by Francesca Zappia

This is a book I was very hesitant about reading. I don't know why I just couldn't make myself read it, maybe because it seemed like a heavy book. But when I did read it, I was surprised by how everything was handled in this book. It is a story of a girl who's suffering from Schizophrenia and her journey of facing all the hurdles that came her way, It's not only an emotional story, but the author has done a brilliant job keeping the atmosphere of the book light and funny while also giving a very strong message. I love this book for its uniqueness, crazy plot twists (trust me, they are), and beautiful characters.

3. Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

Oh, my god, where do I even start with this book?!! This was recommended to me by one of my friends, and while I have always been interested in dark matter theory, I didn't really expected to like this book. But it totally proved me wrong and became of my favorite books of 2016!! It's thrilling, scary, funny, and also sad sometimes, but it's a book worth reading!

4. Cracked by Eliza Crewe

This one was definitely a fun read! I hadn't even heard about this book until I saw one of my friend's review on it on Goodreads, And it immediately got me intrigued. I've read so many paranormal romances in past that it's become very difficult to find something different in that genre, but if you are looking for a hilarious story, with some crazy characters - this book is for you.

5. The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner

This book was a complete emotional rollercoaster. This is the book where I could connect with all the characters as it has multiple povs, and on top of that, it's a really beautiful story about friendship, family and love. If you haven't read this book, I highly recommend it!

Books that were underwhelming:

6. I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson

I might be in a minority, but I didn't like this book as much as everyone. Before reading it, I had read nothing but great reviews on it, so automatically I had very high expectations from it. But unfortunately, I didn't really enjoy it and ended up giving it two stars. Definitely not for me, but many people have loved it, so I guess it was just me.

7. Bone Gap by Laura Ruby

I've read very few books on magical realism, so I guess I just need to find the book that works for me. But about this book, it was very complex and layered, and while I got the whole point of the book, I just couldn't connect to it.

8. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Okay, first of all, let me make this clear: I didn't hate this book. I really enjoyed this book. This book was like going on an actual circus, but with more fascinating magic tricks and a great plot. Everything is fascinating about this book - it's plot, the cicrus itself, the magic tricks, and the characters. So why didn't I love this book as much as everyone else? Well, I just expected something more. I just felt that this book was more focused on the writing (which I ablsolutely loved) than the actual plot. So it gets all the stars for the imagination and writing, but I couldn't bring myself to rate it high than 3 stars for the plot.

9. November 9 by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover is one of my favorite authors when it comes to romance. I've read all her books, and have loved most of them. Unfortunately, this was one of the books I just didn't enjoy. Her books are always very heavy on emotions, but this book felt very dull when I compare it to her other works like Confess, Maybe Someday, and It Ends With Us. I couldn't relate to the characters, and not even how unbelievable the entire insta-love was in this book. So this is only one of the two books I didn't like by her. But that doesn't change anything since I'll forever keep reading her books!<3

10. Every Day by David Levithan

This was another unpopular opinion. The concept was interesting, but the execution not as good. It's a nice story overall, but I expected a lot more.

I just finished rereading this book, and oh, my god! It was as amazing as the first time around! I rarely reread books, but this one kept calling me back, and with the release of Conjuring of Light, I couldn't miss a chance to visit this magical world and my favorite characters once again! And I am so glad that I did!

I had so much fun rereading this book! And do I even need to write about the Londons and world building? I mean, it's freaking awesome! Reading about another world is always cool, but add different kinds of cities in that, with some magic, mystery, and evil twins in it, and you've got yourself a perfect fantasy book!

This book has everything you look for in a fantasy novel. There's Lila, a badass and fearless thief who although lacks magic (not really), makes up for it with her strong and ruthless personality. I mean, if she has the courage to face the evil twins, there's nothing she can't do.

Then we have our hero, Kell, who is practically made up of magic. He's an Antari , who can travel between worlds, and also has a habit of smuggling things between worlds. Talk about the perfect hero!

Not to forget our prince Rhys. He's my adorable cinnamon roll!<3 There are many more characters who will either make you want to tear the book apart, or just wish that they were real so that you can kill them in person. Either way, this book has some great villains!

Anyways, here ends my review, which was more like fangirling. I also have no idea why I gave it 4 stars last year, but that's changing now!! This book deserves all the stars of the galaxy! If you haven't read this book, what are you doing with your life? I'm kidding. Not really. Just read this precious book!! Onto the second book now!!!

Life: This week has been a busy yet boring kind of week. I finally stopped procrastinating and finished some of my work. I had gotten really distracted last week, and hadn't been able to concentrate on any work, so I am really glad that I finally managed to do it. I've also been attending my college lectures this week, so that also kept my day busy. I also finally started to get back into reviewing ( I haven't been doing it for last few months), so I also managed to catch up on some reviews this week too!

Blog: I realized that I haven't been a lot active on my blog in past few months, but I finally starting giving it more importance and am trying to keep it updated as often as possible. I am finding it really fun to write all these post, and I have no idea why I didn't do it sooner! I'm still getting a hang of it, yes, even after so many months I have still not entirely figured it out. But I am trying and would love to keep blogging from now on. I have discovered many new blogs, and since my blog is in initial stage, I don't expect a lot of people, but I am glad that some of you actually read my posts and leave comments. It really means a lot!

Books: My 2017 started off very slow in terms of books. And also, I haven't been able to find any good books lately :/ I also haven't read a lot of books this year (blame it on my freelancing work!) And my recent read was really bad :(

Buuut, I am now finally reading two books which I am absolutely loving!! I am currently rereading A Darker Shade of Magic, and am also going to reread second book of the series to prepare myself for the release of A Conjuring of Light! And I can actually count that for my 2017 reading challenge! Finally we have a rereading option! About time, Goodreads!

Another book I'm reading is Illuminae, which is going really good. So you can expect two reviews from me this coming week!

Me: I am tired of reading all those heavy books, let's find some funny and light romance.

Me: Searches fluffy romance on Gr. Annoyed to find out I've read most of the books. Comes across Beautiful ~~what??~~ Bastard and decides to read it.

Alright, I guess you all know what happened after this from my rating. Yes, I did read this book. And yes, I hated it. Hate is too strong a word, but nothing else can describe my annoyance for this book.

I expected this book to be a funny romance, but what I got? A disappointment. You know, you go into a book, expecting the characters to meet, get attracted to each other, and also maybe flirt? But what's in this book? Sex. And it starts from page 17. And until then, there's only rambling of how Mr Ryan is a jerk. And there isn't even any sort of chemistry between them! It was such a boring read, with jokes which weren't even funny.

I don't know why I keep picking up such books. Maybe in the hopes that I'll find some nice quick reads. I do like a nice chick-lit, and I loved books like Playing For Keeps , Tangled , etc. But this book is nothing like those.
