She was flooded with modeling assignments the minute she set her foot on Indian soil, especially with her innocent expressive face, hour-glass figure, and drop-dead gorgeous looks.

Professionally she started off as a model with photographer Atul Kasbekar, and upon being accepted, she received offers from LG, Cola, Fevicol, Lakme, & Veet. It was the Lakme commercial that got her noticed. She retained Matrix as her Manager to accept work on her behalf and at the price she deserved.

Moving to different culture and country was not much of a culture shock for her, as she states that no matter where you come from, the bottom line is that everyone wants to be loved, respected, and cared for.

Despite of her positive attitude, she had been stereotyped as "Indian" by extreme right-wingers in Britain who made it clear that she did not quite fit-in with their "Blonde" Caucasian culture; while on the other hand in India itself she had been ranked as an 'outsider' very much like Sonia Gandhi.

Unlike other artistes from foreign lands, Katrina did not experience any difficulties in getting a visa nor of getting it extended in India.

Although linguistically challenged, Katrina puts on a bold face and states that other Bollywood artistes like Sridevi, who did not know Hindi, did get offers from Bollywood film-makers, and she is no different. She has taken Hindi and dancing lessons to fit in with the Bollywood culture. She likes to display a picture of her learning Kathak dancing where she used to dance 7 hours a day non-stop.

Adorned with soft gorgeous looks, she is not easily intimidated, but admits that she is very emotional, sensitive, and concerned about her privacy, Almost an incurable romantic, she prefers to wear comfortable non-revealing clothes when at home, hates to do her hair, and above all dislikes make-up. Admitting to being lonely in the beginning, but now has several friends who she can hang out with.

It's not my style to either wear minimum clothes, to strip or to even be comfortable with a sex-symbol label. I just want to do good work instead of sporting such meaningless tags. My Hindi was bad about three years ago. I wanted to achieve a certain status in modeling. Through that I got confidence to get into movies. Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005) came at the right time. I had done kathak training which apart from teaching you about dancing also teaches you about emotions. After that experience, I feel this year will be a much better year for me.

I think I have been very lucky so far. I have done a lot of ads and also some films down south. People have liked me. I guess I have found a balance.

Egypt is among the most beautiful countries I have visited - the pyramids, the temples and the landscape are absolutely exotic. I even enjoyed the barbecue dinner on a boat on the Nile. We shot in a number of places and I've come back with fond memories of my trip.
I unwind myself by taking off the costume and make-up as soon as the shoot is over! And get a spa treatment. It is extremely relaxing. Unfortunately, the kind of lifestyle and schedule we have, we hardly get time. Not only actors, but I have seen a lot of directors and journalists with skin problems and believe me, all that can be cured by a spa treatment.
Salman Khan did not help me get movie offers. What rubbish! Will any producer take a risk of millions of rupees at the instance of any person? Everyone knows that the film industry is highly competitive, and one gets a job on one's talent only and not on any recommendation.
My relationship with Salman Khan is too personal to talk about. I take my work like any other regular job and what I do in my personal life is no one's business. I'd rather let my work do all the talking.
Every one has her own love life. Every one has a dream to get a perfect life partner. But this is not so easy in real life. In fact, one doesn't love, it happens. As far as I am concerned, I love a boy who is linked with the film industry. However, I shall not name him. You never know what may happen in future.

Actor Katrina Kaif's fans down South may feel disheartened to know that the Chikni Chameli of Bollywood has rubbished reports of her signing a film with south superstars Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth. Buzz was that Katrina had signed two films down south and charged a fee of Rs 5 crore each. But Katrina, 27, denies these reports. "No one has contacted me or my manager for any of these films," said Katrina, who is currently shooting in Cuba for Yash Raj Films' Ek Tha Tiger opposite Salman Khan. Buzz was that Katrina had been contacted to play the lead opposite Rajinikanth in Kochadaiyaan, helmed by Rajini's daughter Soundarya. "Katrina was quite upbeat about the project as the script fascinated her a lot," Soundarya had said a while back. But latest reports suggest that Deepika Padukone has been finalised for the film. "Guys. Deepika Padukone confirmed to play appa's pair in Kochadaiyaan," Soundarya tweeted recently.Haasan, too, hinted at Kat playing the lead opposite him in Ulaganayagan, touted to be one of the most expensive films of Kollywood. "Katrina's been approached by the producer as the role suits her perfectly," he said.

In the past, Kat has done many movies down south including Malliswari (2004), Allari Pidugu (2005) and Balram vs Taradas (2006).

She has recently joined the Rs 100 crore club with the reported box-office success of Don 2 and Agneepath. So, not surprisingly, Priyanka Chopra is in demand in Bollywood. Trade sources inform that the actor has apparently been offered over Rs 5 crore to star opposite Saif Ali Khan in the related stories Race 2 producer lashes out at Deepika Gauri Khan ignores Priyanka Chopra, again Priyanka is hurt, upset with SRK rumours Priyanka Chopra crosses 2 mn mark on Twitter Abbas-Mustan sequel, Race 2. “She has been offered several films in the last week. As far as Race 2 is concerned, the makers are keen to sign her for a couple of reasons — one, she has entered the big league with two back-to-back hits and secondly, they need to finalise Deepika Padukone’s replacement quickly,” says a trade insider.On being contacted, Priyanka says, “I have never discussed my remuneration (in the media), and don’t intend to do so now.”

The makers apparently contacted Priyanka after Deepika informed producer Ramesh Taurani that the Race 2 schedule would clash with the dates she has kept aside for Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, who is set for his third outing at the prestigious BAFTA ceremony, says he is extremely delighted to be part of the gala event. “I am extremely thrilled and delighted to be presenting at the BAFTA this year. It’s an absolute honour to be associated with the BAFTAs and to be returning to the award ceremony for a third time. It is definitely going to be a memorable night among tremendous talent and I am truly looking forward to it,” the 52-year-old said in a statement. He is the only Indian actor who has been chosen to present the trophies at the BAFTA
(British Academy of Film and Television Arts). The last time he did so was in 2010, when he gave away the award for the best costume design along with actor Claire Danes. Anil's first stint at the function was in 2009 for the multiple award-winning Danny Boyle film Slumdog Millionaire. Bipasha Basu has become a ‘sleepless’ beauty. Ever since the actor started shooting for Vikram Bhatt’s Raaz 3 with Emraan Hashmi, she hasn’t had any time for rest, due to a continuous shooting schedule for the 3D film. Until a few days ago, she was down with a viral fever and conjunctivitis, so she couldn’t fulfill her professional commitments (including media interviews) for almost a week. As a result, all the film shoots — including Raaz 3 — were on hold.

“All her projects had to be shifted. And once she started work a few days later, she had to push hard to clear all the backlog by working continuously for a couple of days,” says an insider close to Bipasha.

The actor confirms her chaotic schedule, saying, “Raaz 3, besides being a fantastic 3D horror film, is also an emotionally-taxing drama. In fact, for a couple of days, I hardly slept at all because of the workload. But I am enjoying the experience because it’s a new thrill to work on 3D.”

Interestingly, thanks to her choc-a-bloc shooting schedule, Bipasha couldn’t even go and receive NDTV’s ‘Fittest Bollywood Celebrity’ award personally. The actor had to be content with a video call from the sets of Raaz 3 at Panvel.

“I just didn’t have the time to make it,” she rues, adding, “But, it’s a great achievement especially since I have been awarded for my passion, fitness, rather than professional reasons. It’s fantastic if they believe that I am championing the cause of health and fitness among my fraternity.” The actor’s next release, Jodi Breakers, will hit theatres soon, and she’s confident the year is shaping up well: “2012 looks great. I am confident that people will appreciate my part in it (Jodi Breakers).”

This disgustingly behaved Kingfisher staff called Vinay podwal just tore my sister's boarding pass and misbehaved with her. How can this happen? How dare this Vinay Podwal misbehave with a passenger and tear her boarding pass? It could be any one of u think about it (sic)."

Reacting to Takia's tweet, Siddharth raised doubts over the actor's claim: "Been getting tweets about Ayesha Takia & KFA. Not too sure who she is, an actor of some sorts?? But it seems something has upset her. Don't know why Ayesha Takia is tweeting so much when she wasn't even present. There are always two sides to a story. Pipe down love."

Ayesha shot back saying: "Well any indian citizen can stand up for their rites if treated badly,and I don't have to be anyone u know sidharth mallya!!!!!!!!!!!! (sic)."

Another tweet read: "My sis is a normal indian girl traveling economy so ofcourse u won't giv a shit,I know the whole story coz it happend 2 my sister therefore (sic)."

Airlines spokesperson denied the claims: "We categorically deny that any of our staff misbehaved with this valued guest. We also deny that any of our staff tore her boarding card/ticket as alleged. The boarding card had in fact not even been handed over to the guest as she was waitlisted. The guest was treated with full courtesy extended to our all guests at Kingfisher Airlines."

Bollywood legend Bachchan to undergo surgeryMUMBAI — Veteran Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan will undergo surgery later this week after suffering a bout of "abdominal pain", the actor revealed on his blog on Thursday.

Bachchan, 69, called the surgery "not too complicated" but did not disclose its precise nature. The operation is set for Saturday morning.

"The next few weeks shall be full of nothing else but the hospital and medical bulletins," Bachchan wrote on the blog.

"The Big B", as he is known, is treated like royalty in movie-mad India and is the father of Bollywood star Abhishek, who is married to former Miss World Aishwarya Rai

Bachchan, who continues to act in several films every year, spent weeks in hospital in 2005, including one in intensive care, after bowel surgery.

Bachchan nearly died following an accident on the set of the 1982 film "Coolie" where he ruptured his spleen during a fight scene and was critically ill for months.

Fans held vigils outside his hospital and made offerings at temples as they prayed for his recovery.

Bachchan was the first Indian actor to feature at London's Madame Tussauds waxwork museum and was voted "actor of the millennium" in a BBC online poll in 1999.
