We've just launched a new website -- WarcraftList.com

Our goal with Warcraft List is to provide a place for World of Warcraft players to find each other and fulfill each other’s needs. The site is a virtual-world version of the classifieds sections of real-world newspapers and real-world sites such as craigslist.org. Sometimes reposting your latest Epic BOE drop on the auction house until it sells isn’t the best idea — all those auction house deposits add up. Although the official Warcraft forums provide a great place to ~~troll~~ meet other players, posts looking for specific items tend to get lost in all the noise. WarcraftList will provide a structured way to help you find what you need and let you tell everyone else about what you have to offer.

We have also started a blog on warcraftlist. Should we add a trading card game section to the site? Should it be categorized by physical region to make trading cards and meeting other players easier?

Molten Core Raid Deck

The Molten Core raid deck is now available! With the deck your raid can battle all the Molten Core bosses, from Lucifron straight on through Ragnaros. The raid setup is a bit complicated. It involves runes, a minion deck, and multiple bosses. However many of the interesting and fun abilities that we saw raiding MC online are present in the raid deck. For example, Gehennas alternates between shadow bolts and AOE fire attacks.

Some of the treasure pack loot looks incredible, such as the Hand of Rag and Benediction. Having raided MC online with a priest, getting the Eye of Divinity from Domo and eventually Benediction was one of my proudest WoW moments. The staff not only had great stats, but was also a status symbol among raiding priests. The card game Bene certainly doesn't disappoint. Once it's in play it provides a nearly unlimited supply of cards for your hand. Another great Molten Core treasure card is the Hand of Rag. For each attack the Hand of Rag will deal 14 damage. Yes, that's right -- a whopping 14 damage. Even late in the game, this weapon will spell game over for your opponent.

Onyxia Treasure Cards for UDE Points

Do you have a bunch of UDE points lying around collecting dust? I know I do. Starting February 21st you'll be able to spend those points to get Onyxia treasure cards! Upper Deck announced yesterday that the UDE points store will begin selling packs of 10 Onyxia treasure cards. This will be a great way to pick up some of the great tier 2 helms and other cards that were previously quite expensive. Shipping for the cards will even be free. There's no word yet on how many points each ten-pack of treasure cards will cost.

This is a great thing, and I'm very happy that UDE is making the Onyxia treasure cards more accessible. Now this is something that I really want to spend my UDE points on! Thanks Upper Deck!

Dark Portal Expansion Photos and Release Date

The Dark Portal will be the first expansion for the card game. Although UDE has announced that the expansion will be available in April of this year, some stores are reporting that it will be available as early as February or March 1st. However this is probably from some promotional materials sent to stores a while ago, before even the Onyxia raid deck was available.

Expansion Release Dates Announced

Dan just announced the release dates for the next two WoW TCG expansions:

Through the Dark Portal - April 2007 - This full expansion will include cards that correspond with the WoW online game expansion, The Burning Crusade. As we announced earlier, the expansion will include Blood Elves, new equipment, and most of all -- new mounts!
Molten Core Raid Deck - May 2007 - This raid deck will allow you to battle against all ten Molten Core bosses. It sounds like the deck will be much more comprehensive than the current Onyxia deck.

Dan also hints that even more expansions will be released in 2007. What do you think will be released? BWL?

Tournament League Structure

Here's a quick run-down on how the WoW tournament league is structured:

The Road to Regionals (January 6-7) - This is the first stage of the league. Admission will be inexpensive or free. Winners will receive extra extended artwork cards and also free admission to the next level, the Regional Tournament. Most local stores participating in the league will hold Road to Regionals tournaments.
Regional Qualifiers (January 13) - The entry fee will be approximately $20 USD, or free for those that won a Road to Regionals tournament. The top four winners of each regional tournament will be invited to the next level, their National Championship. Other prizes will also be handed out, including booster packs, playmats, and extended artwork cards. More details on the Regional tournament are available here.
National Championships - Presumably the only way to enter the National Championships is to win a Regional Qualifier tournament. The prizes have not yet been announced. The winners will be invited to the next level, the World Championship.
World Championship - This is it -- the final tournament! The winner of the World Championship will walk away with $100,000 USD in cold, hard cash. Talk about a huge prize!

In general the tournaments will be Swiss-style with best two-out-of-three rounds. As is usual, they will use constructed decks, with at least 60 cards in the main deck and exactly 10 cards in the side deck. Cards from both Heroes of Azeroth and the Onyxia treasure pack will be allowed.

Regionals are January 13

Elendril Direct Damage Deck

Want a deck that can do massive direct damage on the seventh turn? How about enough damage to kill your opponent's hero? Well then I have a deck for you.

Ryan at UDE recently posted an article discussing the uses of [[Rapid Fire]]. He had some great ideas and I decided to build a deck around it. I've been able to win most of my recent games using this deck. [[Elendril]]'s flip ability along with [[Rapid Fire]] and [[Galway Steamwhistle]] make up the core combo of the deck. Here's the card list:

Core Combo
The core combo of the deck is flipping [[Elendril]] and attacking the opposing hero with multiple strikes of his bow. In the past three games I've played with this deck I've launched 16, 20, and 15 damage attacks. How can you get an attack that large? When [[Elendril]] flips, he adds +3 ATK to his bow, giving it an ATK of 5. Other cards, such as [[Eye of Rend]] and [[Deathdealer Breastplate]] can increase the damage to 6 or 7 per strike. For each [[Galway Steamwhistle]] or use of [[Rapid Fire]], you get an extra strike beyond the first one. The [[Edgemaster's Handguards]] makes your bow's strike cost cheaper, so you can potentially strike more. With just three strikes, you'll be dealing at least 15 damage in one attack to your opponent!

Pumping up the Attack
Certain cards can make this combo even more effective. Some cards, such as the [[Eye of Rend]], [[Deathdealer Breastplate]], and [[Elendril]]'s flip ability, have a multiplicative bonus to the combo. Because they add damage to each weapon strike, dealing three strikes gives you three times the benefit. However certain other cards, such as [[Aspect of the Hawk]], only apply their bonus once per attack, even if you strike multiple times. Luckily [[Aspect of the Hawk]] will also pump up your [[Multi-Shot]].

Getting the Bow
As you might have noticed, this deck relies on drawing one important card -- [[Ancient Bone Bow]]. Luckily there are several cards to help ensure that you always have access to your trusty bow. Drawing [[Herod's Shoulder]] is almost as good as drawing the bow. [[Big Game Hunter]] will help you draw either the bow or a [[Herod's Shoulder]] so that you can later draw the bow. When your opponent destroys your precious bow, it's nice to have a [[Sunken Treasure]] ready to quickly get it back.

Automatic Links to Cards

We recently added a fun new feature to the site -- automatic creation of links to WoW cards. To create a link to a card all you have to do is surround the name of the card with [[
and ]]. The JavaScript we created will then replace the card name with a link to the card. You can even put your mouse over the link for a quick glimpse at what the card looks like. For example, here are a few of my favorite cards:

Blood Elves in Expansion

Just like the computer game, the card game will also have a Burning Crusade expansion. The card game expansion will include a new race -- the Blood Elves. No word yet if it will also include the Draenei. The card game expansion will also include new mounts. Similar to the video game, some of the mounts may even be flying.

Onyxia Deck Available for Pre-order

Turn in to an Ogre! Get a Turtle Mount!

Upper Deck just released the in-game loot rewards for the card game. There are two types of in-game rewards that you can get. The first type, loot cards, are Legendary cards that contain a scratch-off code. The legendary cards are very rare; there might be only one Legendary in several hundred booster packs. The second type of in-game loot comes from collecting Upper Deck points. Each Warcraft Upper Deck product that you buy will give you a few points. If you collect enough points, you can trade them in for an in-game reward.

Legendary card rewards:

In-game Tabard - a special red tabard will be available from the Landro Longshot card. (You can buy the card here.)
Hippogryph Pet - a unique pet will be available from the Thunderhead Hippogryph card. (You can buy the card here.)
Turtle Mount - a unique mount will be available from the Saltwater Snapjaw card. This mount will only move at a normal running speed and will be usable by characters of all levels. I'm a bit disappointed that it won't make you move faster in the water -- or anywhere for that matter. (You can buy the card here.)

Upper Deck point rewards:

In-game Tabard - a unique tabard.
Fireworks Trinket - a reusable trinket that creates a unique fireworks display.
Ogre Suit Trinket - a reusable trinket that will make your character look like an Ogre! I think this will be one of the most sought-after in-game rewards. It's points based, so every dedicated player will probably have a good shot at obtaining it.
