EuroSkills Lisboa 2010

In 2010, Lisbon proudly welcomes the 2nd edition of the EuroSkills and hosts hundred of competitors, experts and judges, representing 31 countries and 50 vocational skills.

The EuroSkills Lisboa 2010 is an opportunity to raise the image, quality and attractiveness of VET systems in Europe. An opportunity to bring together different stakeholders in the VET field: leaders and policy makers, experts, trainers and teachers, schools and enterprises. An opportunity to demonstrate, test, compare and update work and training methodologies, to strengthen partnerships and enhance common patterns within Europe.

Yves Zimmer from Luxembourg is a very friendly Competitor in the Industrial Control skill at WorldSkills Calgary 2009.He chose industrial control because it combined his passions of mechanics (which he learnt from his father) and electronics (which he learnt at school) and gave him a new challenge.He has met a number of new friends at WorldSkills Calgary 2009 and has taken with him a number of lessons learned, particularly by working with people from other countries.Yves takes a few minutes out of his busy schedule to explain the industrial control set up for the competition.Guy Mander is an Expert from Luxembourg in the same category. He explains the time constraints the Competitors will face during the competition.

Martin Ernst explains that the reason he loves offset printing is because he loves working with and watching the different colours. It always presents new challenges because a good offset printer must always watch the machines and be able to problem solve with them. WorldSkills Calgary 2009 has been a great experience for him because of the different languages and cultures.

Armin Profanter describes his challenge for the restaurant service competition today at WorldSkills Calgary 2009. Today the challenge is on bar service where Armin must prepare cocktails and appetizers for the guests.He trained for five months at his home in South Tyrol, Italy, in preparation for the 40th WorldSkills Competition in Calgary.Restaurant service is more complex than many people think, and Armin explains some of the things that are involved in his skill.
