World Squash Day 2012 is set for Saturday October 20th. 

The theme this year is to support the World Squash Federation bid to get squash included in the 2020 Olympic Games. 

We need to stage eye-catching events around the world on this one special day to raise the profile of the sport ahead of the IOC vote in early 2013.

Events took place all over the world as clubs opened their doors to offer free activities to females of all ages.

The most outstanding project took place in Johannesburg, where more than 600 children from the Soweto townships were given a free lunch and treated to a day of squash and

Squash is all set to attract a new generation of female players thanks to a worldwide day of action and innovation backed by the World Squash Federation.

The world’s leading squash stars are lending their
support to World Squash Day.

A worldwide programme of events will take place on
November 5 to promote increased female participation in this high-energy sport
which is battling for Olympic status.

 The theme for this year’s World Squash Day on November 6 is to encourage clubs and associations all over the globe to increase playing numbers.

Between the commemorative t-shirts, banners, cameras and festive ambiance, the abundance of enthusiasm and passion for squash was quite apparent as Mexican squash players joined in celebration of World Squash Day at several of Mexico City’s important squash clubs. Such was the case at the Squash Inn club where owner Jose Luis Mendez organized the day’s events.

The students from Surf City Squash, an urban youth program in San Diego, celebrated World Squash Day in a unique and unusual fashion.  

Rather than playing or watching the sport, the students spread the word about the sport and the effort to become an Olympic Sport by promoting the sport at San Diego’s most renowned venue—the beach.

All over India, clubs / associations have been organising activities. Here in Chennai at the ICL squash academy we had a gala event this morning.
