Briony James Joins the Cast of Wormwood: A Serialized Mystery!

In the second of our casting announcements, we’re pleased to present Briony James, who will be joining our talented troupe of actors as the mysterious Miss Ginter, who plays a vital role in several of the Wormwood portraits.

Briony James is a Theater Arts/English graduate from Ithaca College, with over 30 years of acting experience. She has been heard in several classic cult horror movies, and works both in front and behind the camera in many capacities.
She has appeared on stage and film with her husband (and fellow Wormwood cast member), Rob Grindlinger, and voiced many characters in the worldwide TV series, Secrets of the Sands. Her favorite hobbies include writing and gardening.

We’re very excited to announce the first of several new cast members joining our team in Season Three.

Today we’re going to spotlight Samantha Turk. Samantha, who has been a part of previous Habit Forming Films productions, is an incredibly talented actor, and it’s our pleasure to have her join the Wormwood family.

Samantha will take on the role of Henrietta “Henry” Howe, who was first introduce to us via Paul Montgomery’s short story, “Left,” as part of our “Five Fingers of Glory” anthology series. While the story was read by series favorite Sonia Perozzi, we knew that we’d someone just as strong in the role of Henry for her…ahem… future appearances.

Samantha will also lend her voice to other roles, some of which we’ll announce soon.

For now, he’s a quick introduction to Samantha!

Samantha Turk

Samantha’s passion for acting has always been with her, since first performing on stage at the age of five. Samantha has studied acting, singing, and dance in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles.

After receiving her BFA from Syracuse University, Samantha studied and performed in New York City. She made the move to Los Angeles to further pursue her career in acting in film and television.

When not acting, or studying the craft, Samantha enjoys music, other forms of art, and sports, especially baseball…she remains a die-hard Red Sox fan!

Wormwood Creators meet Guillermo Del Toro

Something a little fun while we’re in our off-season… Wormwood creators Jeremy Rogers and David Accampo sat in line at Meltdown Comics on Sunset Blvd. to meet film director Guillermo (Pan’s Labyrinth) Del Toro at his midnight book release signing. His book, The Strain, is co-written with Chuck Hogan. The first part of a trilogy, The Strain is a sort of police procedural vampire novel. We look forwarding to reading this prose effort from one of our favorite directors. Del Toro was extremely genuine and friendly, taking the time to chat with us about horror novels and films. We, for our part, gave him a couple of audio CDs containing Wormwood episodes.

Not Dead Yet

Hey there, Folks!

A lot of you are asking, so we just wanted to post here and assure you that we’re still around and Season 3 is still on its way. We have been slow getting Season 3 on track; we’re making a few changes, and as a result, Season 3 will be broken up into three volumes. We’ll have more information about those soon. Rest assured, more content is on its way.

Notes and News:

Malware – We’re aware that there appears to be some kind of Malware infecting the site. You may see pop-up that ask you to download a PDF file from another source. Please cancel these. These are NOT files from us. We are working on this issue, and we hope to resolve it very soon. We have an odd dilemma, in which we have the forum and files located on one server and the blog on another (with a different host), and because of that we’re not exactly sure where the Malware is coming from. However, we are working hard on the issue, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Facebook – We’ve set up a Fan Page on Facebook. So if you’re into Social Media, please join our page and become a fan!

We have realized we never formally upated you on our status. Most of you have probably figured out the that temporary file problem we had last week has been resolved. I’m sure many of you have already listened to episode 22. Let us know what you thought!

We do, however, want to note that there still remains a problem with the iTunes feed for Season One. Episodes 10-12, as many of you have noted. do not work when downloaded through iTunes. However, we have RE-POSTED those episodes later in the iTunes feed. Look between Episodes 19 and 20 and you’ll find them. These episodes are also available on this very site — it’s really only iTunes who has never refreshed the feed since we moved the files in 2007.

Coming up soon is our Season Two finale! We hope you enjoy!

Nicole Rayburn moved to Los Angeles, CA in ‘99 with only two suit cases and a at in her arms. Coming from a military house hold she was never stationary long. Just after high school she moved to Miami on her own where she began doing print work. With her background in dance and cheerleading and years of performing, she easily moved into being featured in many music videos for such artists as Sugar Ray, Pink, Ricky Martin, and many others. Being on set seemed a natural place, which led to her desire to act. Never having any formal training, Rayburn still thought the odds were good.

Since coming to LA, Nicole Rayburn has had starring and supporting roles in several feature films, studied four years at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and even produced her first short film to circulate festivals next season. Now adding voice-over to her credits, she has lent her voice to tutorials and ads, as well as storytelling. Nicole Rayburn proves to be a dedicated artist with a strong drive to create stimulating entertainment for all.

On Wormwood, Nicole plays the part of Harmony Barrister, a name that should be familiar to sharp-eared listeners. She also plays Nurse Wendy in Season Two, Episode Five.

Robert W. Allen grew up in the small town of Murphy, Texas, searching the margins of society for fossilized dinosaur bones and evidence of vampirism. The bright, but distracted young man underachieved as a student, but showed promise for experimental filmmaking and competitive martial arts.

These days, the shy young man has morphed into a bold, west-coast slashie, marrying sweetheart Tiffany, and courting Hollywood. Robert gained SAG eligibility by portraying a gassed CTU guard on season 4 of “24,” and by stage-fighting in a music video by metal act, “The Sword.” Though experienced in play-by-play broadcasting for collegiate basketball, Wormwood is his first foray into audio drama.

On Wormwood, Rob plays Special Agent Voitek of the SNSA, who first appears in Season Two, Episode Six. He also voices a new mob goon named Tony.

Ben Boodman hails from Connecticut and has been in LA for 9 years. He performs sketch and improv comedy. Ever since he can remember he has always loved doing “voices,” however mainly to himself. So he is glad to have been given the opportunity to perform them in Wormwood.

On Wormwood, Ben voices the mysterious voodoo practitioner, Mister Carrefour, as well as ghost hunter Chip Drexal and a couple other assorted voices.

Wormwood Season Two Announcement

Hey everyone:

We’ve been getting a lot of emails asking us about Season Two! First, we want to thank you all for listening! We had a great time putting together Season One, and we love hearing from all of you! Second, we are working hard on Season Two right now. The first 8 scripts have been written, and they’re currently undergoing revisions. The actors are all excited and waiting to continue their roles. We’re really excited about this new material, as it expands the Wormwood landscape in some fantastic new directions!

Now, our original goal was to launch Season Two in April. Unfortunately, we’ve moving a little slower than anticipated, so we’re now looking at launching Wormwood Season Two in May 2008. We’re sorry for the delay, but we are also planning ot bring you some additional behind-the-scenes material in the next few weeks to bridge the gap between now and our official Season Two launch.

Technical Difficulties for Episodes 10-12

Dear Listeners,

It has recently come to our attention that episodes 10-12 are not properly downloading in iTunes. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Here is the issue: we temporarily switched servers during the time episodes 10-12 were uploaded. We then switched servers back and updated our RSS feed. The feed is updated and current, but apparently iTunes does not (as far as we can tell) refresh their feed for older shows.

We’re not sure how to resolve this issue at this time, but we are looking into it.

In the meantime, you can listen on our site or any of the podcatchers listed in the far right column. If you wish to bring it into your iTunes, you can right-click and download the episode, and then manually import it into your iTunes.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, and we’re looking to resolve the issue shortly.
