The Authentic series is the highest-end product produced by Martin. It is different from GE MARQUIS and so on. It is produced by CUSTOM SHOP. It is divided into Martin D28 Authentic 1931 and 1941.

Why do Martin D28 have these two versions, because it is a product of two very representative eras, 1931 is the first year of Martin D28 guitar, it can be said that it is the first year of D-type guitar, so it should be launched to commemorate. Compared with the 1931 style, the style of 1941 has changed a lot, which is more in line with contemporary people’s requirements for guitar, so it is more representative and applicable. For example, in 1931, Martin also refers to the 12-fret connecting body, the neck is also very wide, the head is different from the present, and the model of 1941 is almost the same as the present.

Then let’s introduce this Martin D28 Authentic 1941. Due to the new model and the extremely precious AUTHENTIC series, there are a lot of orders and the output is very small, which led me to book this guitar last year and wait until this year to get the guitar. I have forgotten this matter. Suddenly got it, I was overjoyed

This guitar is engraved according to a Martin D28 produced in 1941. The engraving of the AU series is different from that of GE/MARQUIS, and the degree of engraving can be said to be close to 100%. Of course, in addition to the Brazilian rosewood, only the Martin D45 AUTHENTIC used Brazilian rosewood. Replica such as GE/MARQUIS is to reproduce most of the essence of the time. But in general, this is a modern guitar, because many structural things are different from the current year, according to the current production method of the Martin Guitar Factory.

Let’s look at the configuration first. The top uses Adirondack spruce, Adirondack spruce’s sound beam, Madagascar Rosewood on the back side, Fossil ivory on the upper and lower nuts, and the high-grade mahogany is now available for the neck. Nowadays, most of Martin’s necks are no longer mahogany. Waverly’s open chords have a fingerboard width of 1-11/16′′, which is the same as the current HD28, but the grip is light V-shaped. This kind of neck now seems to be no other model to use, it is very comfortable to use. At the same time, the diamond cut behind the head is also an old-fashioned shape, longer. The veneer of the head is Madagascar rosewood. At that time, the guitar head was not as square as it is now, and the corners of the head were slightly rounded. Overall, the configuration is very high, and it is all handmade and quality guaranteed.

This D-28 AUTHENTIC 1941 is quite special, such as its volume structure, neither the pre-war FORWARD SHIFTED forward structure nor the STANDARD position, but the REAR SHIFTED rear shifted bracing. The difference between them is the center point of the X-shaped bracing, the distance from the sound control, the forward structure, the standard and the backward structure, respectively, the distance control 1′′, 1 1/2′′, 1 7/8 “. These differences will reflect the difference in the tone. At the same time, these three different structures are not just simple distances, but their cutting methods, angles of the sound beams, etc. are all different. The bracing of the D28 1941 is deeper, and the angle of the bracing of the TONE BARS on the panel is more parallel to the longitudinal section of the body. These are the balance of the bass and the overall tone of Martin after the X-shaped keel is moved back. This REAR SHIFTED bracing back-shifting structure was used on Martin’s D-type guitar from 1938 to 1944.

In terms of structure, the entire guitar is made of HOT HIDE GLUE, which is leather glue and animal glue. This structure was used by Martin from the very beginning to relocate the new plant in 1964, and then began to use PVA, a chemical glue. However, the bonding position of the panel has been using HIDE GLUE until 1975. Due to the complexity and time-consuming process required to use HIDE GLUE, it must be operated by a very experienced luthier, now only found in the AUTHENTIC series, and some high-end CUSTOM SHOP products.

HIDE GLUE is time-consuming and laborious, but it is worthwhile. This technology makes the structure of the whole guitar a natural combination, which makes the guitar more vibrating. As the new guitar gradually opens, the joints gradually adapt to the overall tension and different vibration frequencies, which will make the guitar sound more harmonious, reducing sound dead spots and bad vibration points. Why AUTHENTIC is so expensive is because it uses a lot of such excellent technical structure. If we want to customize a guitar in Martin’s CUSTOM SHOP, the cost of using HIDE GLUE is about 1500~2000 US dollars, and the delivery time will increase accordingly.

With such a high level of materials and craftsmanship Martin guitar, the sound performance is clearly not disappointing. The overall highlight of the sound of the Martin D’28 AUTHENTIC 1941 is the rich color, the infinitely rich overtones, which are very nice and endless. Unlike the surge of FORWARD SHIFTED, it is relatively balanced. It is neither like the Martin HD-28V nor the Martin D-28 MARQUIS. It is more interesting and connotative.

Fender, Gibson, Martin and other big-name guitar manufacturers have launched signature guitars for Eric Clapton, and the Eric Clapton Crossroads guitars launched in March this year can be said to be very historic. Because this is the first time that the three companies have jointly launched the Eric Clapton signature guitar at the same time. Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Collection brings together five different guitars, and their inspiration comes from the most important guitars in Clapton’s career.

The Fender Custom Shop accurately engraved the 1956 Fender Stratocaster guitar called “Brownie”. Gibson launched the cherry red 1957 Gibson Les Paul, named “Lucy”, which also belongs to George Harrison. Martin has introduced three new guitars: the Martin 00028EC “Crossroad” Madagascar rosewood version and two Martim 000-45EC “Crossroad” guitars. The back and side panels of these two guitars are available in Madagascar rosewood or Brazilian rosewood.

These five guitars are all limited production. Among them, “Brownie” Stratocaster and “Lucy” Les Paul are limited to 100 globally. The Martin 000-28EC is limited to 150 pieces, while the Madagascar rosewood side and back panel of the Martin 000-45EC guitar will be launched with 55 pieces, and the Brazilian rosewood side and back panel of the Martin 00045EC guitar will be launched.

Eric Clapton is the most influential and popular user of Fener Stratocaster, Gibson Les Paul and Martin 000 string flattop acoustic guitars. This is one of the reasons why the world’s three largest guitar companies have joined forces to support him. Respecting the career and contributions of Eric Clapton, these special guitars are meticulous in detail and craftsmanship, representing the best of Fender, Gibson and Martin in the near future.I believe that even if you don’t use Eric Clapton’s Custom Shop guitar, these guitars will satisfy any guitarist.

Gibson Custom Harrison-Clapton “Lucy”Les Paul

Price: $14,999

Few guitars have a pure “rock star lineage” like the 1957 Les Paul, and they are still so fascinating after being repainted at the factory. The other name for this guitar is “Lucy”. The guitar belonged to The Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian before the Eri Clapton, then Rick Derringer, and finally in 1968, Clapton purchased the guitar at the Dan Armstrong store in Manhattan. In August 1968, Clapton gave the guitar to George Harrison, which means that Eric Clapton only owned the guitar in a short time. This guitar was used by Harrison as the main guitar for recording “White Album” and “Let It Be” and was used frequently during his personal solo career.

And this Harrison-Clapton “Lucy” Les Paul guitar, Gibson painstakingly reproduces every detail of the original “Lucy” guitar based on existing conditions. The guitar has a slim neck profile, and Gibson also re-enacted it after the body was polished in the 1960s. In terms of pickups, the retro-style PAF pickup provides the guitar with warmth and harmony, while the bridge’s dual-coil pickup provides impressive impact and aggressiveness. Gibson uses lighter mahogany to match the weight of the original guitar as much as possible.

The guitar comes with an autographed certificate by Eric Clapton, a recent interview with Eric Clapton about his various Les Paul guitars and the original “Lucy” guitar, a re-recorded 180g vinyl version of The Beatles. White Album and a replica of the hard case. Like the “Brownie” Strat guitar, this “Lucy” Les Paul is not only of special value to guitarists, it is a unique, iconic retro-style Les Paul guitar and comes in comparison to the original retro guitar. Said that this guitar has a lower price.

Martin 000-28EC “Crossroads”

Price: $5,999

In the mid to late 70s, Eric Clapton’s favorite acoustic guitar for performances or recordings was the 1974 Martin 000-28 guitar, which you can see in many of the photos and video clips of the time, including the BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test. In the documentary “Eric Clapton and His Rolling Hotel”. Clapton also used this guitar to create many great pieces, such as “Wonderful Tonight.”

Although Martin’s first Eric Clapton signature guitar is 000-42. But the second Martin Eric Clapton signature guitar 000-28EC, introduced in 1996, became one of Martin’s best-selling guitars and is still in production today. In addition to limited production, the Martin 000-28EC “Crossroads” guitar has several significant differences from the popular 000-28EC. The “Crossroads” guitar includes several exclusive configurations, including Madagascar rosewood back and side panels (instead of Indian rosewood). Style 42 snowflake grade mark (not diamond and square) and the crossroad symbol of the head made of mother-of-pearl. Like other Eric Clapton signature Martin guitars, the Martin 000-28EC “Crossroads” is also inlaid with Clapton’s signature between the fingerboard 19 and 20 items. The guitar also includes an internal tag and a certificate signed by Clapton and Chris Martin IV to prove authenticity.

In appearance, the Martin 000-28EC “Crossroads” is much lower-key than the 000-45EC “Crossroads”, and the uncovered head and herringbone edging replace the gorgeous abalone. But in terms of feel and tone, it is absolutely comparable to Madagascar Rosewood’s 000-45EC “Crossroads”. In general, the more expensive the guitar will have a slight acoustic edge, thanks to the retro-style leather structure, but this 000-28EC “Crossroads” is better than the same price of steel string plane guitar, which is also Due to the limited amount of money, this guitar has been enhanced. In terms of timbre, this guitar has a very balanced, warm, mellow tone and provides a very memorable clarity when played. In this series of guitars, the 000-28EC “Crossroads” is the most “moderate” and has a very reasonable price. But this guitar can definitely impress the performer with its own ability, and it can also be used as a collection.

Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton “Brownie” Tribute Stratocaster

Price: $14,999

As we all know, the 1956 two-color gradient Stratocaster guitar, named “Brownie”, was Clapton’s first Strat guitar, which was purchased at the Sound City Musical Instrument store in London on May 7, 1967. When Clapton made his debut with Delaney and Bonnie, the guitar became Clapton’s main guitar in the early 70’s, and from then on, Stratocaster became Clapton’s favorite solid electric guitar. Clapton also used “Brownie” to record several songs from the album “Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs” by Derek and the Dominos, including the album’s song of the same name.

In addition, the guitar appeared on the cover of Clapton’s first solo album, and the guitar that slammed Clapton was “Brownie.” In June 1999, Clapton auctioned “Brownie” at the auction, and the final price was close to $500,000.

The Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton “Brownie” Tribute Stratocaster accurately restored the original guitar, including wear, materials, feel and sound, as well as the original guitar. The Experience Music Project, the buyer of “Brownie”, generously loaned the original guitar to Fender, and under the leadership of the famous guitar master Todd Krause, every tiny detail of the guitar Perform measurements and analysis.

Surprisingly, this “Brownie” Tribute Stratocaster is no different from the standard 1956 Strat guitar. The soft “V” neck profile, vintage silk, and the lacquer finish on the back of the piano make it feel like a Strat guitar belonging to a great guitarist. The weight of the body is also very light and comfortable. It feels like a piece of eucalyptus that is more than fifty years old. Connect it to the Champ speaker, adjust the pickup switch to the neck pickup and the middle position, and it will sound exactly the same as Clapton’s iconic sound in the “Layla”. The pickups provide sweet sound, warm mid-range and crisp, impacty tones, but without the high frequency of sharp overtones.

Because it perfectly reproduces the guitar that Clapton himself uses, the “Brownie” Tribute Strat is slightly different in size from the original guitar. For example, the Synchro Vibrato system is enclosed, equipped with a hard bridge, and equipped with a more modern five-speed pickup switch instead of the third-generation pickup switch of the 50s. The guitar also comes with a box with “Derek and the Dominos”, a certificate signed by Eric Clapton, Fender Custom Shop introduces the booklet for the guitar construction process, and the 40th anniversary of the luxury suite “Layla and Other” Assorted Love Songs. In addition to being cheaper than the original 1956 Strat, the “Brownie” Tribute Stratocaster is the most attractive alternative today and is highly collectible.

Martin 000-45EC “Crossroads”

The “love” of Clapton and Martin 000 series guitars began in the 70s. At the time, Clapton bought a large number of Martin guitars during his tour of the United States. And one of them, Clapton’s 1968 000-28 Martin was converted to Style 45 by Mike Longworth in the 1960s. In 1970, Clapton purchased the guitar at GTR (the predecessor of Gruhn Guitar) in Nashville. Later, Clapton used the guitar in the 1974 “461 Ocean Boulevard” album and the “Nothing but the Blues” tour from 1994 to 1995.

Martin 000-45EC “Crossroads” guitar did not re-enact Clapton’s own guitar, but added a few unique features to this new guitar. Notable features include the signature of Clapton between 19 and 20 and the Crossroad logo on the bridge. Each guitar is equipped with a sound hole label and an autographed certificate by Eric Clapton and C.F. Martin & Co. CEO Chris Martin IV.

The Martin 000-45EC “Crossroads” guitar is available in two versions: Madagascar rosewood and Brazilian rosewood. If the player pursues pure retro sounds, he should choose the Brazilian rosewood version, which provides gorgeous high-pitched sounds, beautiful overtones and rich resonance. The back and side panels made of Brazilian rosewood are designed for those guitarists who have the ability to recognize. Compared to the Rosewood version of Madagascar, the difference in tone between the two is very subtle. The Madagascar rosewood version offers a very warm midrange and a more prominent tone, making it ideal for playing chords with paddles. These two different models of guitar provide excellent performance, the distance between the string pillow and the strings is also very suitable for the finger guitar player, and the positive and sensitive dynamics can meet the requirements of any style guitarist.

The Martin 00-45EC “Crossroads” guitar is made in a 1934-’42 format, including a 14-piece neck and snowflake fingerboard inlay, a solid head with a CF Martin logo, and a raised bridge piano made of ebony.

Martin also uses retro-style leather to make the guitar, and many classic Martin fans believe that the guitar used in this way is better than the guitar sound in modern production. Each Martin 000-45EC “Crossroads” guitar is equipped with a custom case and guitar strap, and Martin will also provide CITES files for customers who purchase Brazilian rosewood. (The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) to facilitate overseas transportation or carrying.

Brazilian rosewood version, priced at $49,999; Madagascar rosewood version, priced at $12,999.

THE one and only Martin D-35!!!!!

Over it’s long history, CF Martin company has, without question, introduced the world to some of the best acoustic instruments ever built and played – one of those instruments is THE Martin D-35 guitar. I’ve owned and played at least 15 different Martin models over the last 50 years and IMO from it’s signature white bound neck and 3 piece back nothing else (except for the discontinued 1 Series D3R) on the Martin roster sounds like a Martin D-35. It has a full, deep, vibrant lower end; a beautifully balanced mid range; and a top end that is distinctly Martin. The Martin D35 has only been around for over a half century (introduced in ’65 so Doc Watson was obviously playing a different Martin model when another reviewer saw and heard him back in ’59) but it’s always been a unique instrument with a lot history built in over a relatively short period of time. And with a few modern updates incorporated by Martin in recent years it’s still a guitar well worth checking out. Even if you don’t like it for some reason, at least you can say you picked up and played a Martin D-35! Haven’t bought a guitar from online acoustic guitar builder, but when I do it’s going to be another Martin D35.

Since 1833, Martin has maintained a good reputation. Continuous innovation, the introduction of technology, including the flagship store Dreadnought, Orchestra Model guitar X-bracing structure, 14-fret plug-in design, has become an industry standard. As a well-known instrument manufacturer, Martin still insists on making guitar by hand. Martin was founded in the United States by the German Christian Frederick Martin. Now run by the sixth generation of the family, the guitar produced by the world is praised by musicians around the world. Martin Guitar indirectly promotes the development of the music industry, and is active in the classical, rural, blues, folk, rock and other major arena.

Martin has been producing acoustic guitars since 1833. The remarkable feature of the Martin guitar is that the sound decays slowly, the sound is strong, and the power is strong. With the purchase of the Martin D-35, you not only got the 51-year history of this model, but also got the sound of the Martin Guitar King. There is also a quality guarantee that will last a long time with you. The Martin D35 is Martin’s long-established, full-solid wood model. Since its launch in 1965, it has been a global hit, with a strong production among all Martin models.

The top is sitka spruce top, three-piece East Indian rosewood back, East Indian rosewood sides. Whether in the era of the launch or now, it is very recognizable. Martin D-35’s materials are similar to Martin’s other classic full-solid guitar Martin D28. The price is similar, and the sound quality is difficult to distinguish. The sound style, appearance, and feel are slightly different. The Martin D35’s sound is more relaxed, dynamic, and easier to play with a variety of popular, bluegrass, country music accompaniment solo also has a very strong expressive. It is a good choice for middle and senior players.

Sitka spruce top wood

The sound quality of the guitar top is crisp and loud. The reaction is rapid, and it does not require a lot of force to both sound well and be dynamic.

Even when playing at a loud volume, the tone is clear and grainy.

Note: When choosing a guitar, it is recommended that the more horizontal stripes on the top, the better the top.

Sides and back wood

East Indian rosewood : The three-piece back enhances the resistance to deformation. Compared with ordinary rosewood, East India Rosewood has regular wood grain and dark red color, the bass is steady and powerful, the treble is bright and clear, and the sound is clear and not turbid. Bright and thorough sound ; Resistance to deformation.

There is no uniform standard for guitar bucket design by different manufacturers or work shops. So the size of the standard page is the nearsighted value. There are a few deviations for reference only. The value of a guitar is reflected in factors such as material configuration and process, not in size. A high-end 36-inch guitar may be more expensive than a low-end 41-inch guitar. Different guitar body type are available to meet different needs. So please choose the most suitable model according to your needs.

Regarding the color difference, all product images are taken according to the real thing. However, there are some differences in color contrast and brightness due to display devices. The pictures you see are inevitably different from the real ones.

Most people’s law

As long as it is impossible to explicitly list / data to try to define, are the concept of the law of large numbers. Popularly speaking, “Most people think so.” Because the feelings are too vague, it is like someone who thinks that the Shining Orchestra is very noisy music. But some people think that Elvis is very noisy. So the law of the law of large numbers means that most people think that the flash is called noisy, so the music of Elvis is not classified as “heavy metal.”

However, the disadvantage of the law of large numbers is that it cannot satisfy everyone’s cognition. So there will be a bunch of jazz musicians who think that kenny G is not called jazz at all. Charlie Parker is the kingly argument.

Time

Time will change the definition because culture is dynamic. In the 1960s, the “Rolling Stone Orchestra” felt bad all over the world and was rebellious. But when you ask young people, they will feel bored and vulgar. Like One Ok Rock, it is called the tide, it is called rock music.

Professional definition

Music is a deep knowledge. It certainly has academic and academic specialties.People in the music circle hate outsiders’ comments on music, because they only use a bunch of gorgeous words to stack, make general comments, and the knowledge of music structure is almost zero.

For example, blues music, many people describe it as “melancholy.” But what is melancholy? Is heavy metal not depressed? Reggae is not depressed? Jay Chou is not depressed? If you want to analyze it accurately, perhaps because it uses a lot of semitones in its scale, it produces the melancholy that you think. For the public, these do not necessarily understand. But if you want to go to the profession, learning more professional academics is quite helpful for understanding the style.

Feeling definition

But on the other hand, it is definitely a bad thing to learn too much to understand music. Music is art and it is the expression of humanity. A lot of feelings are “intention” and not “shape”, and not all feelings can be analyzed. For example, you can’t say that there is Power chord (rock chords unique to electric guitars). There are countless rock music without Power chord. There are many ways to present rock, which may be an attitude, an idea, a performance technique, a dress, a volume, a tone, a shout of shouting, a straight arrangement… And since the explosion of music has developed, there is no such thing as a pure genre. It is constantly merging, translating, evolving, integrating, translating, and evolving… Often when an orchestra describes its own musical style, it can’t say what it is.

The above four points are to know that to understand a style of music is not enough, because there is no standard answer. The times have been evolving, and everyone’s preferences and concepts are always changing. Coupled with different entry points, it is difficult to have a common set of standards. As long as we master the general direction of the big principles, we should be more inclusive and diverse in the definition of the label style. Next I will share some of the ways in which I study music. But that is just my personal habit. Does not represent any authoritative answer, you can adjust and think according to your own preferences.

Master the most uncontroversial principles/learning Everything changes, all musical changes can be traced back to the most primitive law. Since it is a law, it is a definition of large numbers, the most uncontroversial principle (the more clearly the better). Only mastering the principle will not be confused by a bunch of “adjectives” when checking the information. When you listen to various deformations, you can catch the veins of structural mutations.

The music structure has 4 large blocks, [melody, chord, rhythm, tone].

To analyze any kind of genre, you need to cut in from these 4 big blocks, like:

Melody: Blues – scales, soul – voice use, Chinese style – pentatonic.

Rhythm: Reggae 2, 4 remake, Jazz Swing, Samba 100 or more speed, 16 points of musical scores, 8 points of rock and roll.

Chords: Punk three chords, Jazz 251 marching, FUNK7, 9 chords, black metal increase and decrease chords.

Tone: Metal electric guitar with high distortion and broken sound, Jazz gentle Bass/drum, FUNK grainy Bass/drum, Japanese folk songs and shamisen, Indian folk song sitar, classical music symphony orchestra, unplugged original music player configuration.

Many principles can be found in the book. But more is to listen to your own ears. A large number of listening and hard analysis, using the principle of large numbers, even if you are not a class, you will soon be able to grasp the color of any style.

Listening from ancient times to the present Every music changes over time, and that’s the most interesting part of music. I am used to finding out the “original ancestor” (also a concept of mastering the origin), such as Rem’s Bob Marley, Punk’s The Clash, and rock’s Chuck Berry. Then listen to modernity along the timeline, you will find that this kind of thing has been changing, and it is constantly blending new tastes. The definition of genre in each age is also very different. There are too many hybrids of modern music, and there are fewer and fewer lines. Not as clear as the previous barriers, specific nouns have become one of the “elements”. The wider the timeline of listening, the more you can grasp the evolution of the times.

Master the differences

The reason why the study of style is most often lost is because there are too many differences. On one side is the jazz field, and hundreds of keywords are sprinkled, then the rock family is launched, and the labyrinth of the devil is dizzy. This is why I emphasize the need to master the basic principles. Because of the return of the law, the veins are buried in the creative packaging. For example, Bob Marley’s “no woman no cry” is undoubtedly a classic reggae paradigm. Let’s take a look at Zhang Huimei’s “Betelle of Jamaica” infused with Dubstep. Do you say this is a new style?

Yes!! But have you discovered that the core principle is pushed back 30 years? Reggae emphasizes 2 and 4 shots. Therefore, the rhythm accent and the melody of the melody are still following the principle. The melody is also a tight sense of the lazy swing of the middle plate.

Music has always been a continuous entanglement system. It is always a whole piece, not a small piece. Every artist is influenced by what he or she hears while creating. So who affects who, who is like who… It is normal, Dubstep may think that it is a very new and embarrassing thing. However, if you delve into it, in fact, it has a deep relationship with the reggae, and the two together are not “real innovation.”

Remember!! Nothing in music is a true innovation, it is constantly merging and evolved. Just listen to the work of Dubstep Pope Skrillex, First Of The Year, you will know, no reggae?? The thunder exploded. The ultimate metal comes from heavy metals, heavy metals come from heavy rock, heavy rock and illegitimate funk. As a result, they are all called the Rock N Roll (early rock). But without the blues, there is no Rock N Roll… Who changed the early blues? Constantly digging deep into the problem, I have been asking “why why why why…” Constantly moving forward, “exquisite and exquisite, exquisite and exquisite research…”, finally your head will clearly understand what happened in the whole family.

Listen to the same kind of music interpreted by different artists. Even if you have locked in a very clear target to listen to the music, try to find different people’s interpretations, the same in the same, different in the same.Every singer/music player’s performance in the details is still a lot worse. Sometimes some genres are made more personal, some are more popular, others are more interesting, depending on the details. For example, the rock/heavy metal of the 80s sounds similar on the surface. But the character of each guitarist’s arrangement is much worse, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Guns N’ Roses, Ozzy Osbourne. These are all categorized in the 80s, but you have to learn to distinguish the subtle differences between them.

If the above three points are about macro analysis, then the fourth point is to learn microscopic listening.

The devil and the angel are always hidden in the details, and the texture and taste are learned from distinguishing these molecules.

Understand their story

As mentioned earlier, if you only care about the music itself, you can’t see the whole picture. Music comes from art, art comes from culture, and culture comes from life. What kind of feelings are generated by the concert, such as the black slave’s “work song”, compared to the ruler’s rigorous classical music system, it is so unrestrained and free? Doesn’t that reflect the feeling that they want to break free from colonial bondage? So there are blues, jazz, soul music. The biggest feature of these music is “free improvisation.”

The state of the guitar strings directly affects the guitar’s tone, so do you know how often the strings should be replaced?

Guitar strings are not rust-proof and have a rust-proof coating. Therefore, the strings that are less resistant to rust are recommended to be replaced once a month or so, and the strings with rust-proof layers can be used for about three months. Replace it once. Some people always don’t change the strings if they don’t break, or they only change the one that is broken. This is not very good. The strings are consumables. Long-term use, the tension of the strings will be worse, and the sweat and oil stains on the hands will cause the acoustic quality of the strings to deteriorate, so it should be replaced regularly. In order to maintain sound consistency, it is best to replace the entire set of strings.

On the string packaging, 010, 011, 012… What do these numbers mean? This is the thickness of the strings, that is, the diameter of a string, the strings of different thicknesses, the feel and the tone are not the same.

Are the guitar strings all metal? of course not. Folk guitars and electric guitars are mostly metal strings, while classical guitars are mostly nylon strings and sheep strings. Nylon strings are synthetic materials, which are made by using the internal mucosa of the intestines of sheep to form very fine fibers, which are then chemically treated, washed, glued, etc. The sausage string is the best, but the price is also very high.

How to choose the thickness of the strings? The acoustic guitar is generally 010, 011, 012, 013. The strings of 010 and 011 are soft, easy to press, and the tension is relatively small. But the shock and bass are not as obvious as the thick strings of high tension. Also very suitable for novice use, folk songs generally use 011. The strings of electric guitars are generally 009, so it is very convenient to play some solo, show the skills of playing the guitar, play for a long time, the fingers will not be too hard. But the style of heavy metal and rock, may use 010. In the fingering guitar, some people choose 012, and special requirements will choose 013.

What material is the acoustic guitar string made of? The acoustic guitar strings are generally high carbon steel cores with brass and phosphor bronze wound on the surface. The brass-based strings are warm and the phosphor bronze-based strings are bright.

What internal factors affect the life of the strings? There are many reasons that affect the life of the strings, such as external corrosion and long-term use. There are also internal factors, such as coated strings that have a long service life and vice versa. However, some people think that the coated strings are not as good as the uncoated ones.

Which brand of strings is good? This is a bad question. Choosing the strings requires consideration of the guitar itself, as well as the individual’s own situation, as well as the playing place, playing style, etc. So the best way is to try more and find the strings that suit you. The right one is the best, not just looking at the brand. However, the strings of well-known brands will make you less detours in the process of trying.

Introduce PDF Download PDF To help you get a better decision, here are some advantages of Martin D35: Martin D-35 Modified 3-piece back It has heavier bass tone It is both great for strumming or fingerstyle. Martin D35 is a very classic dreadnought guitar from Martin. The Martin D35 occupies alofty perch in the pantheon of Martin dreadnoughts. Indeed, many discerning guitaristsconsider it the ultimate acoustic guitar. With a top of select Sitka spruce and its iconic East Indian rosewood three-piece back, this legendary Martin tonewood combination deliversthe robust bass response and powerful projection that makes it perfect for both stage andstudio. Its Plek ‘d, bound ebony fretboard feels amazing, and responds beautifully to flat picking or fingerstyle playing. Tastefully embellished with elegant appointments, this Martin D-35 incorporates off-the charts tone, playability, and looks into onestandard-setting axe. Martin D35 guitar is famously recognized because of its 3-piece back. The Martin D35 quickly caught on with music artists after it was created after the iconicMartin D-28. Martin company opted for this 3 piece back masterpiece because of a shortagein rosewood supply. Thankfully, guitar enthusiasts loved every bit of it despite having adifferent sound and tone as its older brother, the Martin D28 guitar. Adapting to innovation and modern times, the D35 is perfect for players who wantversatility written all over a dreadnought guitar. Martin D35 features an improved andredesigned bracing. It still has a bracing with the thickness of 1/4″ from the 60s, but isnow placed one inch from the soundhole. This innovation creates a very even bass, withjust the right balance of the mid and high-end frequencies. Martin D35 features a solid Sitka spruce top with an East Indian rosewood body. It has anamazing sound and feel. An ebony bridge and fingerboard is also present. It features adistinctive White Boltaron binding running along 3 sides of the fretboard, which ismatched with a white Boltaron side inlay on the body of the instrument. Overall, the D35has a nice look that would really capture your attention. A great playability also can be expected and received from a Martin D35 guitar, because itfeatures a modified low oval neck, and wider string spacing, which allows the player tomove the neck up and down with complete ease. With those features, you’ll get a warm basswith a quick response on the low and high end. It has the perfect balance across the fretboard, while also giving you a lively acoustic feel. Due to the modified 3piece back, the Martin D35 has a balanced tone with a heavier bass. The D35 has the warmth and resonance you’re looking for in a dreadnought. Its highs arepowerful and sustaining, while having a clear low end. Giving a tonality that works greatwith strumming or finger picking, the Martin D35 has a full and pure sound. Its lightertop bracing gives a fatter tone, which makes a perfect companion if you’re about toperform solo. Users love it for this versatility. To sum up, Martin D35 is definitely a classic guitar in terms of having an amazing soundeffect. It produces warmer and heavier bass. This is a perfect choice for guitarists wholike performing sole.
To help you get a better decision, here are some advantages of Martin D35:

Martin D-35

It has heavier bass tone

It is both great for strumming or fingerstyle.

Many people believe that expensive guitars are not affected by fluctuations in relative humidity. In fact, high-end guitars are more sensitive to humidity than ordinary guitars. A high-grade guitar uses thinner wood and paint, which is more susceptible to weather changes than a plywood guitar.

Summer maintenance

Although the wood we use for your guitar is 3 to 5 years old, it may take up to a year to stabilize after bonding each part, edging, etc. Excessive moisture intrusion will cause the guitar to swell and your instrument will be damaged unless it is specially maintained. When the guitar is being produced, the humidity is strictly controlled between 38% and 45%. The temperature is relatively around 20 degrees Celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit). When the relative humidity exceeds 60%, the guitar will begin to expand.

Here are a few symptoms of swelling that you should be aware of:

Most often, the top will begin to bulge (or swell) and the surface of the top will begin to distort. This is especially noticeable on the cut-off guitar model. The backsheet will also bulge (expand) and distort in such cases. The depression from the front and back head portions of the back panel can be proved. The higher the relative humidity, the more pronounced the degree of distortion.

Another visible change due to excessive humidity is that all bonded areas (such as top, where the back and sides wood are bonded) will become more and more apparent. This has a particularly pronounced effect on the surrounding of the inlay.

Pearls are not affected by humidity, but the pearl-inlaid wood is soft in texture and tends to swell under relatively high humidity intrusion. When the wood expands, you can find a gap around the inlay where there is moisture entering the wood.

Another visible change due to excessive humidity is that all bonded areas (such as panels, where the back and sides wood are bonded) will become more and more apparent.

The increase in the pitch is one of the main problems in observing the exposure of the guitar to high humidity. The more moisture, the more obvious the increase in the chord distance. This problem is particularly acute in wet weather such as Florida or Japan.

There are many reasons for changing the chord distance.

The high humidity makes the guitar’s panel “sick up” and lifts the bridge and strings up. The back wood is also inflated and the neck is also raised upwards. This causes the upper nut to the lower saddle to be relatively recessed. This problem will further deteriorate under the expansion of the ebony fingerboard and cause loosening of the silk. The fret wire is very strong after installation and acts to prevent the neck from arching. When they loosen due to the expansion of the fingerboard, the neck will also lift upwards, increasing the chord to a much greater degree.

Keep in mind that paint does not prevent moisture from entering, although it can slow down by three to four days. The longer the exposure is in a high humidity environment, the lacquer will begin to deform. The paint on the top will be slightly wrinkled. There will be many small holes in the back and sides wood. As the rosewood swells, the small holes in the wood expand, which causes the paint (which is unaffected by moisture) to sink into the holes. The paint on the neck of the mahogany neck will also sink into the hole for this reason, as will the back and sides wood.

Finally, one of the more annoying things is the high humidity environment. The sound quality of the guitar is reduced by the deformation of the instrument itself, and the life of the strings is also significantly reduced.

Fortunately, all problems can be solved with a humidity of 40% to 50% and a relative temperature of 24°C (75°F).

Exposure to high humidity for a longer period of time can have a more serious effect on the guitar, including the loosening of the sound beam and the wrinkles of the paint. This change will be permanent and it is also a common problem with guitars. Although these problems can be handled by experienced personnel, they may leave a lifelong trace on the guitar. Please note that such damage is not covered by the warranty.

Most high humidity environmental problems can be avoided with some simple precautions. Here are our recommendations: Do not place the guitar in a dark, damp basement under high humidity conditions. Don’t put the guitar in the box.

Because in this type of environment, moisture will collect in the small space of the box. It’s a good idea to put the guitar outside and put it on the guitar stand. Because this keeps the air around the guitar flowing. If you can, when the weather is warm, it’s best to put the guitar on the second or third floor of your home.

Another factor may adversely affect your guitar, which is high in summer. When the weather is warm, don’t put your guitar in the trunk or tail of the car.

At these locations, the temperature can exceed 66°C(150°F), such a high temperature will cause great damage to your guitar, high temperature will make the adhesive part of the glue loose. In such a case, the fingerboard is loose, which makes the chord pitch very high. Please note that this problem will not be resolved because the temperature returns to normal. Such damage repair work will not be covered by the warranty.

The spruce top contains some small resin capsules. Not all resin capsules can be seen under normal conditions, especially for dense spruce, which is more common than spruce in China. When the temperature around it rises suddenly, these resins begin to swell and prepare to overflow. The result is that the entire panel paint will be stained. Although it looks terrible, it is not difficult to repair. An experienced technician can polish and polish the panel with a fine sand. This type of damage is not covered by the warranty, as this is a consequence of exposing the instrument to high temperatures at will.

Another notable problem is that if the guitar is exposed to bright sunlight for a while, the panel will gradually turn yellow. Imagine sunbathing. Yellowing is not a problem with the guitar itself. But if there is an object blocking the sun, such as the guitar’s strap covering the surface of the guitar, it will leave a light-colored impression like a strap, which is also a damage to the appearance of the guitar. One of the nursing tips you should pay attention to in the summer is to keep this in mind when you put down the guitar.

I do not recommend the use of any oil, silicone or wax products on the fingerboard.

If you play the guitar often, the grease on your finger is enough to keep the fingerboard from cracking. To extend the life of your guitar strings, simply wipe your strings with a soft cloth after the performance. When changing strings, you can use the No. 000 steel wool to wipe the fingerboard in summer or winter (make sure you have protected the panel from damage) to remove grease, smudges and dust. Steel wool can also be used to polish the silk and fingerboard, which makes the playing feel smooth and comfortable.

Winter maintenance

let’s continue. Your guitar is in real danger in the winter. The danger to guitar in winter is the extremely low relative humidity. For example, the humidity is lower than 40% and the relative temperature is 24 ° C (75 ° F). Exposure to a temperature below 40% humidity will definitely damage your guitar.

The damage caused by drying is more serious than the damage caused by excessive humidity, and it usually needs to be repaired by a professional technician immediately.

The surest way to determine relative humidity is to use your hand’s hand dryer. However, the operation can be a bit complicated. Hygrometers (available in many hardware stores) can only give you a rough estimate of humidity. Although often not very accurate, it is still better than not knowing the humidity changes around the guitar. Look at your hygrometer and find out where it is particularly dry.

One symptom of a guitar in the case of excessive drying is the change in the shape of the top and sides and back wood. When the guitar is done, the top and back wood will bow slightly. If the wood becomes very dry, it will shrink. The top and back wood will flatten and even sag. Paint will also deform due to low humidity (although this type of deformation is actually caused by shrinkage of the wood under the paint).

The material that is filled in the small hole in the wood will also be squeezed out due to the shrinkage of the wood, and some blocky things appear on the paint.

Fortunately, this problem can be solved by yourself when the humidity returns to normal, and you can see that the raised areas are flattened again.

If your guitar has inlays, you will find gaps around it. Such gaps are also often found on edging, fine inlays and sound hole rims. When the wood shrinks, it is slightly separated from the inlay material that is not affected by moisture. The gaps in the paint water will not disappear unless the humidity returns to normal. Fortunately, this problem does not affect the life and performance of the guitar.

When the guitar’s fingerboard shrinks due to dryness, the metal wire will protrude from the edge of the fingerboard, hooking up the clothes and even cutting your fingers. If this happens, you must have a problem with humidity. Although the repairman can remove the protruding part with a file. You should still humidify your guitar before more problems occur.

You can also observe that the centerline of the backing plate cracks due to shrinkage, causing the paint to separate slightly. Although this is not so serious, it will leave a permanent crack in your guitar.

The most serious consequence of excessive drying is the cracking of the panel, which occurs when the relative humidity is below 30%. In order to repair the crack, and the resulting paint damage, the repairman will have to humidify the wood to swell and bond the cracks to repair the paint on the top. This will consume a lot of time and money, which is also not covered by the warranty. Common problems in winter are the strings that are caused by too low a pitch. Also because of the dryness. This problem becomes more serious as the humidity decreases, and the product will appear on the upper and lower parts of the fingerboard. 14th fret and 12th fret of the steel string guitar will sink. The problem with fret buzzing reminds you that you need to humidify the guitar.

The contraction of the fingerboard causes the fingerboard to crack in the portion of the top. Such problems usually only occur in extreme problems. Extremely cold weather can also harm your guitar. When the temperature drops below freezing, extreme cold can jeopardize the painting of your guitar (small cracks on the surface of the varnish). This problem often occurs when your guitar is placed 15 to 20 minutes outside of the freezing point. (such as walking home with a guitar), then immediately enter a warm room, open the box and take out the guitar. Conversely, moving a guitar from a warm house to an extremely cold environment can also cause problems.

The solution is to prevent this from happening. Before going out, put the guitar in a cool place for about an hour, at a temperature of 7.2 ° C to 10 ° C (45 ° F to 50 ° F). The same applies to bringing the guitar indoors. Let the guitar warm up in the box for at least an hour. If possible, try not to bring the guitar out of the door at extremely cold temperatures. If even though you did your best. The paint of the guitar is still cracking, please cheer up. Although the crack is permanent, it does not matter to the life and performance of the guitar, but only affects the appearance.

Resolving the cracking of the varnish requires a lot of painting work and is not covered by the warranty, which may have a huge impact on the tone. My advice is that you need to get used to the look. Another problem encountered in the winter is that the bridge brought by low humidity is pulled up, which is more common in steel-string guitars. The shrinkage of the top is the main reason, and the texture of the bridge cannot be synchronized with the texture of the top, so the bridge and the top are separated and lifted. This is easier to repair, much better than cracking. (If the bridge and the panel are separated, cracking will occur under increasing tension)

The contraction of the top and the back wood produces the same pulling force, and the lifting of the bridge causes the bracing to separate, resulting in internal resonance and structural damage to the guitar. (This situation is more likely to happen on the backplane because the glue is not like a spruce top, it does not stick to the back of the rosewood.) Repairing this type of problem requires a relatively large expense and no warranty obligation. To avoid these winter problems only need some common sense.

It is worth remembering that you should never hang your guitar on the wall in winter. The heat generated by the stove rises, the temperature of the floor is around 18 °C, 1.5 meters from the wall is about 22 °C, and 2.5 meters is 27 °C! At that extreme temperature, the relative humidity will be very low. For the safety of your guitar, the humidity of your home should be controlled at around 45% in winter and the relative temperature is 22 °C. If it is low, the problem will arise. Put the guitar in the box and if possible, use a humidifier to maintain moisture in a cool place. In places where extreme cold and low humidity are present, these humidifiers should be inspected daily. The humidifier contains a small amount of water and may be used up in the first 8 hours or so.

Pay great attention: Do not use the humidifier too much, otherwise you have to face the problem of solving high humidity.

The operation of the guitarist’s right hand involves three joints, elbow joints, wrist joints, and finger joints.

Many online teaching articles and books often discuss… Is it better to drive the arm (elbow joint) when picking? Or is the finger drive ( knuckle) correct? In fact, this is not certain. Any single-joint-driven right-handed operation has its advantages and disadvantages, and it can be practiced very quickly. In other words, when the right hand is actually running, in fact, all three joints will be used, but the difference in proportion distribution.

Many fast-playing guitarists are used to drive the elbow joint, that is, the forearm is fixed, and the wrists and fingers are also (fixed) to maintain a fixed angle.

The biggest benefit of this is that Pick can maintain the same angle as much as possible. It also does not change the Pick position/radian because of the resistance to the string, which maintains a fairly consistent tone. The most difficult thing for beginners to learn when they first start learning guitar is to keep the Pick stable and give a consistent tone/volume, and the elbow forearm drive can greatly improve the problem. Therefore, many teachers will tell the students when they teach “speed” that “the elbows should try not to move.”

The second point, because the pickup has a small elastic space, the sound will be relatively fierce, the speed will be picked up, the particles will be clear, the integrity will be high, and there will be no big or small (sound) problems, so you see At the end of this stage, the guitarist will become the tough guy “Drazy Man” type XD, which is most represented by Zakk wylde.

Zakk Wylde Solo on an acoustic guitar

Look carefully when he is running at high speed, the front arm is the main drive.

But what’s interesting is that the “speed” thing, shouldn’t it be as small as possible?

Is it not the least efficient to use the entire forearm to drive Picking? So another musician advocates moving the drive forward to the wrist and knuckles.

As the movement is reduced, the feeling of “efficiency” can be felt more when idling.
Sometimes you will feel that your fingers are not moving at all. In fact, they are using a very delicate joint in the control of the pick. The speed bomber Yngwie Malmsteen belongs to this faction.

Yngwie Malmsteen-《Far Beyond The Sun》

You will find that his forearm is barely moving at high speed, and it will be shaken because it is worn by the wrist, not driven by the forearm.

Most guitarists will be in parallel, changing the driving position depending on the situation, in order to achieve a realm of flexibility, such as Steve vai, Joe satriani, John Petrucci, Slash and so on.

Seeing this, you can understand what I meant before. It doesn’t have to be how to work to be the right Picking. Both extreme right-hand models can be mastered.

But their respective advantages are also shortcomings. The voice of a person who is accustomed to using a finger will be less stable (especially for beginners, it is important to learn to control the tone first), and the tone is just too weak.

On the other hand, if you do not practice wrist and finger control, the sound will be stiffer, and it will not be appropriate to interpret many melodic solo, brush and chords, or softer lines…

Remember, the elbow drive (forearm) improves sound stability (beginners can practice in this direction first), and the wrist and knuckles are the key to controlling delicate sounds.

What is discussed above is the mono solo, what about the chords? In fact, the concept is the same, although the former arm can be used to obtain a more stable and rigid chord sound, but the delicateness, graininess, light and heavy sound… will be sacrificed because of “too fierce”, especially the place where the most buckles appear is more lyrical. paragraph. If it’s hard to go straight down, the sound is definitely not suitable (rock’s Power chord is another matter).

You don’t want to see people playing the guitar button as if the whole arm is moving, it must be judged that the elbow joint is driven. Many times the main drive is the wrist, the arm is just taken away, and the subtle tone adjustment is by finger. Therefore, when playing chords (single tone is also the same), the three joints work at the same time, just to see what tone you want, adjust the drive ratio at any time.
