Did you finish making your burlap wreath? And now you’re wondering how to decorate it? There are a few strategies that can help.

Go Big

One of the best strategies is to go for on big decorative focal point. An oversized flower, bow, letter, or even a plush toy can add color and personality to your wreath. The trick here is to make sure the decorative element you choose is as wide, or almost as wide, as the part of the wreath where you want to attach it.

Create a 3D Effect

You can also create a sort of scene within your wreath. I especially like to do this with natural elements such as flowers, birds, and even a bird’s nest. The trick is to make sure the decorations you use can be placed into the folds of burlap without sinking into the ribbon too deeply.

Keep it on the Surface

Sometimes simple cutout designs can be fun. (Especially if you have a Cricut to design and print them.) You can attach these flat decorative elements to the ribbon with glue, or if you’re using fabric, with a few stitches using matching thread.

No matter what, give yourself permission to get creative and try a few things. Often inspiration comes through experimentation!

Here’s what you need to create your own:

12″ wire wreath frame

3 rolls of 15′ long 6″ wide burlap ribbon (without wire)

A decorative focal piece such as the large flower I used or a monogram letter

For the 12″ frame I chose I pulled through loops of burlap until they measured 4″ from the frame wire to the fold. As usual, I pulled loops through all three of the spaces on the wreath frame at a density of three sets of loops per section.

Artificial Christmas Wreaths Making Directions

1. Give the pinecones a snowy look by painting their tips with white craft paint. Sprinkle on Epsom salt because the crystallized salt will look glittery in the light. Set aside to let them dry.
2. Cut the Nordmann Fir into 6-inch pieces. Tie up three pieces together, select a point on the wreath form, and secure the Nordmann branches with floral wire. Place the foliage in the same direction. Continue attaching them to the wreath until you complete the ring. Use floral wire wherever needed to keep the foliage in place. It will be the base of your artificial Christmas wreaths.
3. Next, add some variegated holly sprigs by spreading them evenly across the wreath. The little foliage will add so much visual interest!
4. Make a cluster of 2-3 pinecones and attach it to the wreath by wrapping floral wire around the pinecones and the wreath form. Spread them out evenly around the wreath. Then, tuck berry stems next to each of the pinecone clusters.
5. Make a bow with the red silk ribbon and attach it to the top of the wreath with hot glue. However, you can attach it to the bottom part too if you like it that way.

Grapevine Christmas Wreath Directions:

1. Wrap the wreath with the faux evergreen garland, but leave 1/4th part of it empty. Use floral wire wherever needed to keep it attached to the wreath form.
2. Start layering the leaf fronds on the evergreen garland. Tuck them into the wreath form and use hot glue gun to keep them in place. Fill the entire wreath with the leaf branches except for the space that you left empty. The sparkly leaf branches will break up the texture of the green garland.
3. Use floral wire or glue to attach the grapevine balls of varying sizes to the wreath in a sporadic manner. Don’t use more than 3 or 4 balls. Otherwise, it will look messy.
4. Finally, attach the pinecones and tuck in the red berry sprigs. Use wire or glue as needed to keep them in place.
5. Tie a ribbon around the empty space of the wreath and hang it on the front door. Use a suction cup wreath hanger if you want to hang it on a glass door or mirror.

The rustic grapevine wreath is casual enough to display on your front door, fireplace, or even on bedroom doors throughout your holiday home.

Christmas Burlap Wreath Making Directions

1. Select a section of the wire wreath to start weaving the burlap ribbon. Fold the burlap in half along the width and pass the beginning end through the wire frame. Pass it over the outer ring and under the next, and then over the next ring and under the inner ring to finish. Use floral wire to attach the loose end to the wreath in the back.
2. Create a bubble effect by pulling out the working end of the burlap right next to the first row, but this time weave in the opposite direction.
3. Continue doing this until you cover the entire wreath. Secure the last end of the burlap with floral wire.
4. Fluff out some of the folded bubbles or you can leave the wreath as it is.
5. Attach the faux greenery branches and the beautiful red peonies over them to the wreath with glue or floral wire. Finish the look by gluing some colorful small foam balls.

• 8-10 Red Pipe Cleaners
• 1 large Orange Mesh Ribbon Roll
• Burlap ribbon (optional)
• 10 decorative hanging ornaments
• Plaid Wired Ribbon for bows or Burlap Wired Ribbon
• 12″ Metal wreath frame

Mesh Ribbon Wreath Directions:

1. Lay the metal wreath frame on a flat surface. Start wrapping the pipe cleaners around it.
2. Place the pipe cleaners at a space of 2 inches apart. Twist them cleaners around the wire starting from the frame’s center. Tighten to ensure that they do not fall off.
3. Pinch together one ribbon end and attach to the frame using one pipe cleaner.
4. Place the pinched end in between the pipe cleaners and twist around to hold it in place. A large wide mesh ribbon will work well.
5. Arrange the mesh in a manner that partially conceals the pipe cleaner. The end of the pinched ribbon should rest on the wreath frame while the rest of the ribbon pops out over the knot of the pipe cleaner, and over the other end, covering the mesh end and the pipe cleaner.
6. Take the ribbon (5-6 inches) and pinch the length. Attach the pinched portion to the next pipe cleaner’s center. Twist the pipe cleaner to hold the ribbon in place. You will see a bubble of ribbon form. Fluff the bubble until it is even.
7. Repeat the same steps as above making several mesh bubbles. Continue pinching off 5-6 inches of the ribbon. Attach each length onto the frame of the wreath. Be sure that you are using equal length of ribbon in every segment. This will ensure that your wreath does not come out looking sloppy and uneven.
8. Once you have covered the entire wreath frame, cut off any remaining ribbon. Connect the end that you have cut to the beginning of the pipe cleaner.
9. Curl the mesh ribbon end to retain its shape. This will also prevents any unsightly edges from being exposed.
10. Add the ornaments to finish the wreath.

There you have it: a simple and beautiful fall mesh ribbon wreath. All that is left is for you to show it off on your front door, fireplace or walls. Don’t let your home look dull when you can spruce it up.

1. Wrap the wired sisal vine loosely around the wreath to give it a more natural and rustic look.
2. Apply hot glue to the back of the pinecones and attach them to one-fourth part of the wreath.
3. Now, arrange the artificial flowers the way you want in between the pinecones and secure with either floral wire or hot glue. Remember to trim the stems of the flowers to one inch as it makes them easier to arrange.
4. Make two double-loop bows with the linen burlap ribbon and tie them with floral wire. Attach the bows to both the ends of the decorations with hot glue. Burlap ribbon will complete the look by adding a bit of elegance and more rustic vibe to the wreath.
5. Hang the wreath on the front door or somewhere else you find suitable.

Creative autumn wreaths can live on and around your home before the winter strikes! Fall wreaths decorated with autumn harvest, especially pumpkins, look great on your front door or inside the house whether your taste is plain and rustic or minimal and modern.

Pumpkin Decorations Wreath Materials:

A 12-inch foam wreath form

Sheet moss

Dried putka pods

Dried small pumpkins and dried gourds

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Burlap ribbon

Wreath Making Directions:

1. Cover the entire foam wreath with sheet moss. Apply hot glue to keep the moss stuck to the base.
2. Insert florist picks into the bottom of the dried gourds and pumpkins and apply hot glue at the joint to secure. Wait until the glue cools down.
3. Stick the pumpkins and gourds into the wreath in an alternative order or any sequence you like. Apply hot glue at the connection so that they are tightly secured at the joint. Cover the entire front side of the wreath with gourds and pumpkins. No need to cover the backside unless you’re going to hang it in front of a mirror.
4. Now, fill in with putka pods and more moss and secure them with glue. These dried seed pods look exactly like tiny pumpkins but don’t deteriorate like real pumpkins, which make them quite fitting to be an autumn wreath prop.
5. Create a loop with a long piece of burlap ribbon so that it remains at the eye level even after hanging at the top edge of the door. Adjust the length of the loop if you’re going to hang it from somewhere else.
