its been a while, work and life preclude me from adding anything of value BUT i found these !!! never before seen.....

One of the last armoured engagements on the Eastern Front was around Hungary, this first post has Jagdpanther, Tiger 1 and 2.

Post battle- all the german tanks were catalogued by the Ruskies..hence the numbers on them.

Sheesh its hard to keep tally of them all the time, those damn machine guns take up a lot of room!

Australian Abrams

In 2006 Australia bought 60 refurbished Abrams

They were unloaded in Melbourne and then were to be rail freighted up to Darwin (North of Australia and about 5000km distance, its where most active defence bases are now)....

Unfortunately the weight of the tanks on the rail increased the loads to where they were over the bridge weight limits for rail up to Darwin. NO RAIL FOR YOU!

So rail was out and they were trucked up instead

Just how close was the war coming to the West coast of continental USA?

these are captured Japanese Midget submarines that were being assembled on the Aluetian Islands...these islands are a chain that stretches across the North of the Pacific and you can almost island hop between Alaska and Russia.....

mortar pit- US ground forces counter battery firing against Japanese.

remenants of the final battle- these are all Japanese solders mown down after a BANZAI charge!!!

During World War II, small parts of the Aleutian islands were occupied by Japanese forces, when Attu and Kiska were invaded in order to divert American forces away from the main Japanese attack at Midway Atoll. The U.S. Navy, having broken the Japanese naval codes, knew that this was just a diversion, and it did not expend large amounts of effort in defending the islands. More than 90 Americans were taken to Japan as prisoners of war. Most of the civilian population (over 800) of the Aleutians and Pribilovians were interned by the United States in camps in the Alaska Panhandle. During the Aleutian Islands Campaign, American and Canadian forces invaded Japanese-held Attu and defeated the Japanese, and subsequently regained control of all the islands. The islands were also a stopping point for hundreds of aircraft sent from California to Russia as part of the war effort.^{[dubious – discuss]}
Monday, June 3, 2002 was celebrated as Dutch Harbor Remembrance Day. The governor of Alaska ordered state flags lowered to half-staff to honor the 78 soldiers who died during the two-day Japanese air attack in 1942. The Aleutian World War II National Historic Area Visitors Center opened in June 2002.

thanks for the comments guys- yes i concurr on the point that they are also quite dear to buy. here in Australia they are $29 each. The packaging is bulky as they are bought pre made yet unpainted... so there would be plenty of cost in transport ex China!!

with a sick son at home i dont get any model time now....so its a joy to have a few bits of time here and there. but i woul dgive it all away for health and happy times for Josh.....

now nearly finished. great resin models and lovely detail. they need a base and will be finiched when i get time

i havent seen this before- as the firer finishes pulling the landyard to fire the gun he is hit with a snipers bullett.
whilst its the injury or death of a human..which is not trivial nor warranted in any form...its an amazing image

some time back i went into the artillery round storage business- my blog had some pictures on it...

now i have extended that into rifle and firearm storage...these pictures show how well i control things....
