Water scarcity is the result of numerous interconnected factors, but not all hope is lost for the U.S. West’s water future.

Water scarcity, water resources management, groundwater recharge and desalination continue to drive conversations as the U.S. Drought Monitor continues to indicate severe or worse drought in the U.S. West.

Trideep Barua, ABB global infrastructure segment leader – electrification, explains how water scarcity in one area of the globe is actually water scarcity for the whole globe. He highlights how interconnected not only water but other utilities and industries are with water scarcity, and how to be a part of the solution, regardless of your market segment.

The Lead & Copper Rule Revision has a clear and direct impact on water utilities, but what about the impact on homeowners and commercial building owners?

The Lead & Copper Rule Revision went into effect in December of 2021 and has required utilities to not only inventory their lead service lines but also create a plan to replace the lead pipe infrastructure in their communities. A growing challenge: addressing lead pipe in private homes and commercial buildings.

Les Merrill is a founding partner of Retego Labs and shares his thoughts on how the LCRR will impact residential homeowners and commercial building owners. He also highlights some important resources for the general public and ways that utilities and local water treatment dealerships can coordinate and partner to address lead in their communities. He also notes the dangers of stagnant water in office buildings vacated during the coronavirus pandemic.

A conversation on harmful algae blooms and the methods used to destroy them.

Harmful algae blooms (HAB) are a growing concern in hot spots across the U.S. Often linked with agricultural runoff and nutrient pollution, these algae blooms create toxic environments in water ways that negatively impact humans and animals.

Lawrence Field is the CEO and Founder of WaterIQ Technologies, a company that has developed ultrasonic tech to address algae blooms in water. He explains what HABs are, traditional means of addressing them, alternative technologies and how he expects this issue will evolve over time.
