America discovers Battle at Beaver Creek

Although popular in Russia, the UK, Germany and Japan, Battle at Beaver Creek broke out into America in October, getting thousands of views on Amazon Prime.

We haven't yet figured out how we jumped from a few views a month to thousands, but in November it jumped to tens of thousands.

America is waking up and tuning in to Battle at Beaver Creek.

Thank you Zombie Media Database for reviewing the film.
I hadn't really thought of pursuing the zombie angle of Battle at Beaver Creek.
My characters do suffer at the hands of mind control.
I guess I always thought of zombies as needing to be the undead.
You have turned me around on this. :)

ZMDB also summed up the film very nicely:
"In the near future, resources are running out. Only the rich have access to oil anymore. Satellites are used to turn regular people into mind-controlled zombies. They are usually made to fight. Battle at Beaver Creek will be released on December 21 2014 at 5 sites: Indiereign, Distrify, VHX.tv, Reelhouse and Amazon, as well as right here.
There viewers will be able to stream or download the film for a small fee.
Cast and Crew will have their Dvd's by then.

This might be the final post on this blog:
BABC is done (well, almost, we have a few more seconds of green screen footage to shoot)
I will be spending the winter editing and doing visual effects.
The film has to be done by April in order to be ready for submission to film festivals.
It will then release in the fall of 2014.
Thanks to everybody who worked on the film.
I look forward to showing it to you and everyone else.

BABC is WRAPPED (Almost...)

99% of BABC has been shot.
I have about 90 more seconds of on location shooting to do.
Then I have about 8 minutes of green screen work to do.
Hopefully these things will be completed by the end of November.

The final cut looks like it's going to be around 80-85 minutes.
It's taking shape very well. I think you'll all be proud of the work you've done.

Fall 2013 Update

We have two more exterior scenes to shoot for Battle at Beaver Creek, these will be done in the next few weeks.
Over the course of the winter, there is a whole bunch of green screen and cgi work that needs doing.
There will also be some ADR done with the principal cast.

I'm hoping to be able to show the film to cast and crew in the spring of 2014.
And I'm hoping to release the film at a major film festival later in 2014.

The trailer should be up well before either of those things happen.

Thanks to everyone involved with the film, which we began way back in 2011.
There are over 100 people involved in the making of Battle at Beaver Creek.
I can't wait to show you all!

Summer 2013 update

BABC is back in the saddle again.
We've already shot a bunch of green screen and this sunday we'll shoot an important expository scene with Matt Brown, Lana O'Brien and Hannah Brown.

After that, we must shoot only two more days with Matt, Sheldon, one with Corky and one with a bunch of soldiers milling about, with a reporter providing news story coverage.

I know what you're thinking....
"But what about the rest of the movie?"
"I thought we we're gonna get to run around in the woods and kill each other."

Well, you're right, that was the plan.
And we may get to some of that.
But the fact of the matter is I will be lucky to get three days this summer where all the people I need are in the right place at the right time.

Last summer, don't forget, was only actually three or four days of filming, that took months and months of planning.
I have more than a few new grey hairs and I'm approximately $8000 in the hole.
(I'm not complaining, these are just the facts.)
I'm not willing to go any greyer or spend another dollar on something that will not be completed at best, (so a short version of the film, maybe 45 minutes,) and be completely unreleasable at worst, (either nonsensical or just plain bad.)
(Not that it's bad now, but things that don't make sense, well, they don't make sense.)

I think I can put together a film that will make sense, be informative, entertaining and something we can all be proud of, but it's not going to be the film that I envisioned, simply because I've bitten off more than I can chew.

I apologize to anyone involved if they feel disappointed. I'm simply not allowing to be disappointed.
I still think we've got some good stuff, had some fun and learned a lot.
I'm definitely going to continue making films after BABC is done, but they will be simpler, cheaper and use fewer people.

For now, please stay on alert. There are ten days filming, minimum to wrap this baby up. Beyond the three days that I absolutely must have, these remaining days will be gravy. As in, if we can get to them we will.
This will mean that some of the key characters in the film: the Old Man, the Zetas, all of the Beaver Creek women and children, will likely be cut.
But only likely. Perhaps circumstances will change that will allow for more of the film to be produced.
We will get as much gravy as we can, but I'm not pushing production into a third year.
I've got too many other stories to tell.

It has been a while since I last posted, but now that Garf Garf has been released, I'm ready to get back into the planning stages of the second half of filming Battle at Beaver Creek.

My goal is to have everything planned out so that we can start and finish shooting within a two week period in the dead of summer.

Seeking new locations

Hi Gang!

We are currently seeking two locations for BABC: to shoot in Jan/Feb.

1.) We need a simple rural home, prefereably a trailer or mobile home. It needs to be alone on a bit of property. It would be great if it was on a farm of some sort. It would also be great if it looked like kids lived there, maybe a swingset in the yard or something.
This location will need to be used one day as an interior, sometime in Jan/Feb. Then one more day in the summer when we shoot a little girl playing in the yard. (Shoot with a camera!)

2.) We need "a meeting place." It could be a church, cafe, bar, small hall, anything really. As long as it has a communal feel and can comfortably hold 20 or 30 people. We should only need it for one day. Interiors only. Jan/Feb.
