About Independence Day on the Rock

Independence Day on the Rock is a one-day celebration of our nation's independence. This community event will be held at Traxler Park in Janesville, Wisconsin on Monday, July 4, 2011.

Activities will include a garden tractor pull, Taste of Janesville (food vendors), inflatable jump houses for the kids, idol contest, "anything that floats" race, beer tent, band, and water ski show. The festivities will conclude with a fireworks display over the Rock River.

The event is being coordinated and hosted by the Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Show Team. The Rock Aqua Jays have been a mainstay in Janesville for 50 years with a solid reputation for producing successful events including the National Water Ski Show Tournament, Mercury Marine Open Tournament, and Fright Factory haunted house. The Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Club, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that performs twice-weekly free water ski shows from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The team uses its shows as a platform for educating its members and the general public about safe boating and water-skiing techniques.

In his debut appearance, Captain United (aka professional wrestler IRISH Andy Anderson) will face-off with eight other nationally known opponents on the evening of April 16 at the Elkhorn Area High School Gymnasium in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

All proceeds will go to benefit United Way's efforts in Walworth County. This is a clean, fun, family event for adults and children of all ages.

20 FREE Alternatives to Photoshop and other Graphic Editor Software

I had a client that was interested in creating some coupons and fliers for their gazlo.com site. They did not want to have to spend tons of money on a professional graphic editor software so they ask if I had any suggestions. I found a list of great resources that could be used as alternatives to photoshop and other expensive software. Many of these sites are Web-based which means you do not even have to download anything! Check them out and comment if you know of any other great FREE sites to add!

1) Gimp.com - (open source) GIMP is a versatile graphics manipulation package. For those used to doing things in Photoshop, but who are interested in checking out this free software, look into Gimpshop. It’s a modification of Gimp that is similar to Photoshop’s user interface.

2) Getpaint.net - Paint.NET is free image and photo editing software for computers that run Windows. It features an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools . An active and growing online community provides friendly help, tutorials, and plugins.

3) Seashore - Seashore is an open source image editor for Mac OS X’s Cocoa framework. It is based around the GIMP’s technology and uses the same native file format. However, Seashore only aims for basic image editing purposes, and never meant to replace professionals image editing tools.

4) Picnik - Picnik is the most popular web-based photo editor because it’s now integrated with Flickr. Picnik makes your photos fabulous with easy to use yet powerful editing tools. Tweak to your heart’s content, then get creative with oodles of effects, fonts, shapes, and frames. It's fast, easy, and fun.

5) Splashup.com - (open source) a free full-featured, free range, image editor online. Create new images, edit existing images and manipulate layers with filters.

6) Phoenix - Part of the Aviary suite of creative apps, Phoenix also offers layers and compositing. Aviary.com: Edit images, create mind-blowing effects, design logos, find colors, collaborate, and more. (Adobe Illustrator Alternative)

7) Photoshop Express - Photoshop Express Comes with free 2GB of space. Unlike the real Photoshop, this web version has no ability to layer or composite images.

8) Artweaver - Artweaver is a simple graphic tool that offers all artistic effects which you need for your work. It has all the necessary features of a image editing tool, supports various common file formats and languages.

9) PhotoPlus SE - PhotoPlus is an award winning digital photo editing software. PhotoPlus itself is not free, but you can download PhotoPlus SE, which is a freeware. With PhotoPlus SE, you can perform features such as warps and transformations, filters, adjustments and perfectly optimized images.

10) Snipshot - Snipshot Nice, simple, and clear interface, with no ads at all. Edit pictures online.

11) Sumopaint.com - Online Image Editor

12) flauntR - flautR offers a cornucopia of image tools, boasting thousands of photo effects. If you want to make your photo look like a cheezy painting, this is the place.

13) Pic Resize - The easiest FREE online picture editor is now called DrPic! They have processed over five million pictures!

14) FotoFlexer - is the most powerful online photo editor in existence. It can remove blemishes, change skin/hair color, morph photos and more! 100% free.

15) Photoscape - Photoscape is the fun and easy photo editing software that enables you to fix and enhance photos. Some of the key features are batch editor, animated gif, splitter, color picker and raw converter. Besides using it as image editing tool, Photoscape can be used as a powerful image viewer too.

16) Inkscape - Inkscape is an Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X. Is uses the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format

17) Krita - Krita is open source bitmap editing and drawing application for KOffice. It includes a lot of filters for either serious use or just to play around with.

18) Pixen - Pixen is an innovative graphics editor for Apple Mac. It is a simple yet powerful application and comes with tons of features. Some of the examples are layers, able to create animations, powerful palette, beautiful interface, support different file types and so on.

19) CinePiant -CinePaint is a deep paint image retouching tool that supports higher color fidelity than ordinary painting tools. One of the advantage that it has over GIMP is that it is able to support 32-bits image (GIMP only supports 8-bits image). Cinepaint is mainly used by developers in the flim industry for motion picture frame-by-frame retouching. The current version runs on Linux, BSD, Mac OSX. Stable version for Windows is not available at the moment.

20) PaintStar - PaintStar is a versatile digital image processing application which suitable for tasks such as etouching of photographs, composing and authoring images and image morphing. Some of the tools included in this application are transformation tools, gradient fill tools and selection tool.

I'm always trying to do things to help the environment, I recycle, and use "green" bags at the grocery store, my husband installed new light bulbs (which I hate), and our home is "energy star" rated. The Rock Aqua Jays have been a mainstay in Janesville for 49 years with a solid reputation for producing successful events including the National Water Ski Show Tournament, Mercury Marine Open Tournament, and Fright Factory haunted house. The Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Club, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that performs twice-weekly free water ski shows from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The team uses its shows as a platform for educating its members and the general public about safe boating and water-skiing techniques.
