Since yesterday was Father’s Day, I had to give a shout out to my hubby since it was his first! Lucky for Sweet P (and me!), she has an amazing Dad! He works hard so I can stay home and raise her, and that is something that I will be eternally grateful for. He’s a diaper changin’, bottle feedin’, baby wearin’, biggest, cuddliest toy in the house kind of Dad! We had an awesome weekend hanging out as a family. No weddings or photo sessions, just us!

We went to the zoo!

Dad took P for a swim in her baby pool! (Yes, he somehow managed to fit in there too!)

I made them stop in a random spot off the road to take a picture with some flowers! Ha  :)

And got Dad a new pair of running shoes (see clever poem written by us!), a new pic for his office, and we attempted to make some DAD sugar cookies!

I used these alphabet cookie cutters and, as per usual in the kitchen, had a little trouble making them as perfect as I wanted them to be, but they were cute and still tasted delicious!

I know how important the role of a dad is in a little girl’s life and I know that Reagan will far exceed the expectations of being a great dad. Reagan and I are both lucky to have amazing dads as well that now get to be fun grandpas!! Thank you to my dad, my father-in-law, and my hubby! You guys rock!

I’ve had this song stuck in my head for weeks, especially since it has been played at every wedding this spring! I love this line in the song. And I can’t get enough of this little munchkin. I am so happy to have photos to freeze our little moments together so I can go back and stare at them and get all sappy  :)

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

It was a sad story, but I just loved the way it was written. It was very easy for me to connect to the characters. How in the world could I connect to teenagers with cancer you say? Sarcasm and humor! John Green does an incredible job of developing the characters and the story will suck you in – sarcasm, humor, sadness and all. I couldn’t put the book down. I bought the Kindle version when we went on vacation a couple weeks ago thinking I may be able to read like 2 pages (A vacation with a 6 month old does not lend a lot of “free” time. Oh how I miss flying on airplanes alone!). Well, I read the whole book in less than two days! Oddly enough, the day after I finished this youtube video went viral -

Another sad story, yet awesome kid.

Thankful for family. Thankful to be healthy. Thankful for others who inspire on a daily basis. Still hate cancer.

Yesterday, in the early afternoon, I could tell we were getting antsy. We needed to get out. It was 90 degrees here, but with big fluffy white clouds covering the sun for the most part. Since P is only 6 months old, we never stay at the zoo for more than 30-40 minutes right now anyways, so I thought, “Let’s give it a try!”. We stayed in the shade, watched the fish in the indoor aquarium (which she loves), and then dipped our feet in the Riverbend, which is a small little river kids can get in. No one was at the Riverbend, so it was just me and P, which was awesome. As we were headed out I thought, well we have a few minutes, I should swing by the hippos! We saw the hippos and P was scoping out all of the fish swimming in there. She has just started sitting up so I thought it would be cute to snap a picture of her sitting looking at all the fish. I pulled out my iPhone…held it up…and noticed there was a HUGE HIPPO suddenly staring P down!!

HA! I couldn’t believe it! I snapped two quick photos! Look at him eyeing her!

We heart the zoo. We have already gotten our money’s worth by getting the zoo membership! I love that we can go for 30 minutes, get outside and do something,  and then jet on home for naps  :)

*What usually happens is that I have written down a milestone, like for this month “Can use my hands really well now”, and for whatever reason, I just can’t seem to get a good picture of it. So I wait, and then I forget, and then it seems like it’s too late to take that picture! So I finally get the rest of them ready and move on!  :)

Ah, such is life!

I was looking for headbands on Etsy one day and saw these really cute leaf garland headbands. Unfortunately, they were really pricey! So I thought, hmm, I can totally make that! I’ve been wanting to order some nice felt so I took the plunge and ordered some from The Felt Pod on Etsy.

Loooove the colors!

I sat down one night while we were watching tv and started trying to cut a leaf shape. Once I found a good shape I used it as a template to cut out leaves in every color.

Then I started playing around with different color combos! I, of course, got addicted and made a bunch…

Then I just used some thread and hand stitched the leaves together.

I picked up some 1/4 inch elastic at Joann’s and cut a piece of it to fit around Sweet P’s head. Then I just used a tiny bit of hot glue to secure it on both ends of the felt.

And I love it!

We are already in the “put everything in your mouth” phase…

Celebrating my first real Mother’s Day was awesomesauce. I mean, look at this!

Ah! I love her  :)

Sweet P and her dad are really stinking good gift givers. Apparently they took a trip to Hobby Lobby for this one…

Heart. Melting. Someone please scoop it up off the ground and put it back inside my body. I mean, what an amazing DAD! They sneakily did this while I was shooting a wedding. Art for the {future} gallery wall – check.

And if that wasn’t enough they got me flowers and a gift card for a massage! Cha-ching!

{PS – I was very proud of myself for arranging these flowers so nicely. I’m usually not very good at it!}

There is only one problem…

P looks like such a big girl in this photo!! My baby is growing up! Waaaah!

Did I ever mention here that I dropped my iPhone in the toilet? Yep. On Superbowl Sunday. Smooth movie, Sada. Then I waited what seemed like an ETERNITY until I was available for an upgrade and I’m finally back with a new phone! So now I’m catching up on posting some of my favorite Instagram pics!! And yes, this a creepy mom post filled with only pics of Sweet P. Now that I have some resemblance of a life again, I don’t ALWAYS post pics of P, but it happens a lot, let’s be honest! Included here are my faves from the first couple months with P. I’m way too anal about photos and have to have a layout for my Instagram pics so I actually used this one from the super cute blog, Simple As That. It was $2.50 and a good refresher on how to use clipping masks, but so worth it! I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep the #hashtags in there, but I went with it! This is me getting CRAZY and stepping out of my clean and simple design comfort zone, ha. WOAH. Oh, and the teal background is from Pugly Pixel.

PS – Since this is already a super MOM-ish post, I had the best early mother’s day present this morning. P woke up way too early this morning (that wasn’t the present) which resulted in us trying to let her cry and fall back asleep…which she didn’t. She slept from 7:45pm – 5:45am though, so that probably makes me a horrible mother for trying to get her to sleep in a bit more! Anyways, besides the point, when we finally got her up and fed her she was still SO tired and she fell back asleep laying on my chest sucking her thumb. I DIE! She never does that anymore since we just put her in her crib and let her fall asleep on her own. So I sat there and SOAKED UP ALL OF THOSE SWEET BABY CUDDLES! It was delightful. And then she slept until 9am. Which was doubly delightful. Thanks P Lil! That’s all I need for Mother’s day!

It automatically pulled all of my feeds from Google Reader, so that was nice. And it gave me a chance to go through and really slim down my blog list. It was out of control. Ain’t got much time for blog reading these days! I actually like the layout of Feedly better than Google Reader. There are different layout options which is also nice. Oh, and Feedly also has an app for the iPhone so I downloaded that baby on there when I got my new phone.

So am I missing out on some other awesome way to read blogs? Let me know how you look at your faves!
