One of the many over due posts I have!

Anyhoo, I got a special package from Unilab when I was still in the Philippines a few months back. I wanted to try this product ever since Mindy blogged about it.

So very happy to receive these!!

I tried the purple tub first. This one has Licorice and Mulberry Leaf Extract.

It has this whipped cream look and feel except it has lulur beads for exfoliating and removing dead skin.

I paired it with Bengkoang Soap (Singkamas, who knew?!!) With Betel extract. I'm not sure what Betel is, but it really smells nice!

Lulur beads. According to instructions, you have to apply it on dry skin especially your problem areas (armpits, elbows, knees and inside of your thighs). I did what I was told and then some. I really really scrubbed it in. (Not too hard though...) Then washed it off with Bengkoang Soap.

I could feel the difference already! I didn't have to apply lotion or anything after bath.

(and because this post is so late, I've also tried the other variant!!)
Bengkoang Soap with Olive Oil and Lulur with Seaweed Extract and Vitamin E.

It's equally wonderful!

Too bad these products are not sold in Dubai...I'll have to hoard when I go for vacation! My stash is running low.

PS. - This really helped me clear out my dark nape and underarms due to pregnancy. It really works!

NYX - Soft Matte Lip Cream

I can't believe I haven't published this! This post has been sitting in my draft folder for weeks now.

I finally got my hands on NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. I've been lemming for these since they came out last year (?). Unfortunately, they never came out in Dubai.

I bought San Paulo and Stockholm.

San Paulo / Stockholm

If it were up to me, I would have bought all colors available! I love the way it just glides on my lips. It's really smooth and creamy then it dries matte. Stockholm is the one I use everyday. San Paulo for special occasions (evening gimik).

Sorry for being MIA for a long time. Just to keep you posted, I already gave birth to a healthy baby girl hence my world is upside down. Days are turned into nights. I'm sure you know what I mean.

And because I'm too busy with my baby, I have no beauty products to review, post, or drool upon. I am so out of the loop nowadays. However, I have this wonderful product that works really well for me and baby.

MoskiShield - Mosquito repellent patch.

I got it from National Bookstore (which I thought was weird... ... ). One box contains 24 patches that comes in different cute characters.

I love the piggy character. LOL!

MoskiShield contains citronella oil and lemon eucalyptus oil. It is DEET Free and FDA approved. It is suitable for adults and children (1 year and above, says the box). One patch should last up to 24 hours.

How to use:

Peel the self adhesive patch from the paper backing.
Attach the adhesive side to your clothes or a location close to your body (edge of a table or bed)

Since I have a newborn, I placed the adhesive on my baby's pillow. A new adhesive will have a strong scent hence I advise that you don't put it on your baby's clothes. If you must, then I suggest as far as possible from the nose...like at the hem of the trousers or blanket.

If I'm not mistaken, I got this pack for PHP 100 (or 150... I can't remember!) Based on my experience, the patch did last for 24 hours. Maybe because we don't go out of the room that much so the scent was confined inside the room.

For me, this is really a must have, especially now that it's rainy season.

Nail Spa Lounge by Ellabell

Of course this is an overdue post.

Last Saturday, I went to SM Megamall to meet up with friends. Digital Traincase participated in the Phil-Cosmetics Expo and we decided that it was the perfect time to meet up. I've always wanted to see Sol in action. =D ... But that deserves a separate entry.

Before going home, my cousin and I decided to have a little pampering done. We didn't need to wander very far. There were lots of nail spas near the mega trade hall. We decided to try Nail Spa Lounge by Ellabell.

I'm going to blame my pregnancy hormones for not taking more pictures. LOL.

We got the Prima Donna Foot Spa Pedicure for PHP 680. (I have no idea how much the rates are nowadays since I just arrived from the land of sand and camels). This "treatment" lasts for 60 minutes.

I also got the Duchess Basic Manicure (30 minutes) for PHP 180.

I really liked the look and feel of the place. At first I thought I'd be uncomfortable being so pregnant and huge. But I was surprised that I was able to relax.

I was so relaxed that I have no recollection of what happened beyond this point. I was sleeping! LOL

I'm sure I was massaged thoroughly. There was also some hot stone and wrapping and more massage. I just couldn't remember it all because I was in dream land already.

I love that they have really nice brands of nail polish (OPI, Orly, Misa...) I chose Misa nail polish for both my hands and feet. Don't ask me the shade because I have no recollection...again, pregnancy hormones. =D

All in all, it was a pleasurable experience. Highly recommended. And if ever I have a chance to go there again, I will. Hopefully before my delivery.

Nail Care Tips

I miss blogging. I miss swatching. I miss buying new exciting colors and brands.
I have been drooling over Pam's swatches, Sol's stocks...I'm going crazeeee!!

And to keep myself busy... (as if I don't have enough stuff on my hands right now...with the baby preps and all), I have been scouring the net and magazines for nail care tips. Here are some of the tips I found:

To harden soft nails, soak them in warm olive oil for about 20 minutes on alternate days.
Do not remove cuticles from your nails. Get a good quality cuticle oil and gently push back your cuticle with an orange wood stick --- * Most of the nail bloggers I know do not cut their cuticles and their nails are gorgeous! *
File your nails when you are already wearing nail polish. This will prevent splitting or breaking of nails.
If you have brittle nails, it is advisable to wear nail polish or at least a colorless base coat.
Give your nails a break from time to time. Skip nail polish for a few days to avoid stains.

I didn't bother with the eyeshadows since I'm not supposed to be putting stuff on my face. LOL! And I didn't really see the palette that I liked:

Cobone Deal : 3 Course Meal at Wok In Restaurant

I was able to get a very good deal from Cobone last month. It's a 3 course meal for AED 50 instead of AED 125. Nice right?

I immediately bought two vouchers for "A" and I. We used it last week and we were happy that we did! The food, service and ambiance ... perfect!

We were able to enjoy the whole experience because the place was almost empty except for us and probably two other groups. It could be because we were early and its a weekday.

Here's the look of the restaurant. Dimly lit and very cozy.

I ordered apple juice, of course.

For appetizers, we ordered california maki and shrimp dumplings. Which was funny because I told "A" to order spring rolls. LOL!

For main course, I ordered Nasi Goreng with Satay Chicken. The moment it landed on the table, I just had to dig in, so it didn't had a chance to have a proper photo opp. =D

"A" got the sweet and sour fish with stir fried noodles.

For the third course, we got something like banana fritters with coconut ice cream and some glazed peach with something something cream. Obviously, it was gone before we realized that we have not taken a picture of it. LOL!

And of course we got some fortune cookies. Mine is on top. I love that it says I'll be travelling. Oh wait, it doesn't really say I'd be travelling. hmmm...

I'm not convinced with what "A" got. HAH!

Obviously, this post is not about nail polish or make up.

These are just some of the stuff that I crave for.

TAHO!

Tahô is a Philippine snack food made of fresh soft/silken tofu, arnibal (brown sugar and vanilla syrup), and pearl sago (similar to pearl tapioca). This staple comfort food is a signature sweet and can be found all over the country. -- source: wikipedia.

When I was still in the Philippines, I would eagerly wait for the "taho vendor" to pass by our house and I'd immediately whip out my HUGE mug. That's how it is every morning. yummmy.

Luckily there's a taho kiosk in one of the supermarkets near my place here. I don't go there everyday but I always buy a large cup whenever we do our grocery shopping there.

Palabok. Home-made. This is the short cut version (aka Mama Sitas instant mix). Yummy yummy.

I'm not really in to bags.
I don't look at brands.
I use anything that looks decent and can do the job.

But of course there are times that you just have to give in. "A" was in France a couple of days ago and he offered to check out the LC store near his hotel.

It's sale season so I didn't pass up the opportunity. I got my very first LC Le Pliage. YEY!!

There wasn't much option since its on sale. I wanted to get the red medium long handle but its no longer available.

Anyhoo... me so happy!!

It's Getting Hot in Here!!

It's officially summer!

Nights are shorter. Days are longer. Summer is supposed to be fun. But not here, not for me. It's just too hot! Some days would go as hot as 45 degrees. So what do we do? We stay indoors, that's what.

And if we get bored, we hit the malls or go to the beach when its not scorching hot. But of course, proper clothing should be considered. It's a good thing that we can get away with shorts and tank tops or short dresses just like these from Marc by Marc Jacobs.

My Take: All Glam should be taken down. Not only they steal other people's photos, they also earn from them! THIEVES!! That's totally not fair. They took the photos, did some enhancements and added their own watermark. I actually have no words!

I'm sure a lot of you could understand where I'm coming from. Although I have not experienced having my photos stolen I know how it feels to do the hard work.

As far as I know, Pam's photos were removed from All Glam's site. And everything should be OK, right? But nooo!! They just had to post this:

This just shows that the owner (s??) of this site only cares about the $$$ and the traffic that the site generates. I would definitely NOT support this kind of blogging. What are your thoughts on this?

Crackles are so in right now! Most crackle top coats are cremes and now more finishes are coming out. For Summer 2011, China Glaze is releasing the Metals. Scrangie describes them as foil crackles.

I wonder if these will be released in the UAE.

I still have a handful of untried nail polishes and its just sitting there, gathering dust. Since the start of the year, I got no urge to paint my nails. Hormones, I guess.

Sally Hansen Extreme Wear. I've been wanting Mellow Yellow for the longest time. So when I saw this at a mall, I immediately bought them without thinking. I have actually swatched these but I can't seem to make it work on me. *sad*

Drugstore Find: Vaseline's Cocoa Butter Range

Surprise!!!

Whew! After almost two months of ... nothing, I finally had the urge to blog! It's what they call writer's block but I'm not a writer so, bloggers block? Anyhoo... let's get it on. What inspired me to blog is my fear of stretch marks. ugh!

My growing belly has started to show (ugly) dark lines and it really scared the heck out of me. I have been moisturizing religiously and although I know that creams and lotions don't really work when it comes to stretch marks, I still needed to do something about it. At least I know I tried to prevent it, you know...must be the hormones. =D

I've been using Vaseline's Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning Body Lotion ever since it came out in the market. I just love the way it smells! And it's very light too! non greasy and absorbs easily.

Then I found Vaseline's Cocoa Body Butter. It's so rich and moisturizing! Perfect for those really dry areas like elbows and knees. But it's also non greasy so I use it all over my body. Perfection!!

And then there's Vaseline Cocoa Butter Petroleum Jelly. It's my all around jelly! 'Nuff said.

The only item that I couldn't get my hands on is this:

Vaseline's Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil. According to reviews, this baby really moisturizes your body and it lasts the whole day. You only need a little since its oil and it's perfect to apply right after you got out of the bath. Just spread over damp skin and you're good to go.

Unfortunately, I can't find the body oil anywhere in Dubai. I would really really love to have the whole range and use them all together for total cocoa butter experience! I'm telling you, its really addicting.

* note - our skin reacts differently so what works for me might not work for you. And although Vaseline is a trusted brand, I've read in some forums that there are a few that reacted badly to these products (rashes?)

I have also tried Palmer's cocoa butter something and I broke out. So be careful when trying products.

Amber Lights Laguna - Stash!

I got my favorite, Country Meadow. I just love love love this scent. So fresh!

I also ordered Coffee Extreme. It smells like ... well, coffee.

The little one is a freebie. It's ALL's latest scent. Scotch Pine. I'm so bad at describing scents but I'm telling you, it really is refreshing.

Blogversary!

One year ago today, I decided to blog about nail polish.

I started this blog because I saw photos of OPI Suede collection and just fell in love with them. After almost a year, I have two of the suede nail polishes that I love. Thanks to Sol (Digital Traincase) for making my first year do a 360.

It's only fitting that I wear YDKJ - Suede on this special day.

And thank you for following my very amateur blog. As you may have noticed during the past year, I don't update as much. It's because I'm keeping this blog as a hobby. I do not want to be pressured into anything because that could get tiring in the long run.

I am just happy that you have stayed with me. Thank you so much!!
