Easter girl! and AJ, Lia and Gretchen (and Ms Kendal is there too) enjoying a beautiful beautiful Easter Sunday!

Ms Lia likes to rule the roost at Nana and Papas house, that's for sure! Would we as grandparents have it any other way????

Shawn, Lyla and Karla during our March visit to Naples, which was an awesome time spent with them! Below is Ms Lyla ready to go bike riding! This little girl LOVES the outdoors and would spend all of her time out there.

Granddaughters Lyla and Lia are enjoying the smell of peonies that MY MOTHER planted when she was still with us many years ago at her home on Berry Rd! We took the girls to visit and the girls headed straight for Mom's yard, and crawled up on this bench!

The BOAT.....Mike and I bought a pontoon this year, and finally got rid of the speed boat, which was almost useless on a "NO WAKE" lake! The pontoon is perfect for the girls to enjoy and that they did!

Shame on me to have left my blog just floating out there in open space! So much has happened and I haven't shared much, shame on me!

My life has been BLESSED tremendously over the last 20 months with the beautiful granddaughters Lyla and Lia being a part of our lives, and this Friday Ms Kendal Jane will join our family.

I'm not sure why I've neglected this website...I can come up with many excuses, but that's exactly what they are EXCUSES, so why bother trying to explain. I can't even say that I've been so busy working because that isn't the reason either...I left my job in sales in March, and haven't done much of anything since then. I've done a few websites, sold some ad specialties, but for the most part played on this damn computer, and watched soap operas, minus the bonbons!

Life must change! I am making a committment to myself that this will happen! I will make a much more concentrated effort at job searching, and contracts jobs. I will work harder to put myself in a greater physical shape, as well as mental.

And to make this post a happier post, UP ABOVE are a few of my favorite pictures of my beautiful granddaughters from this summer together....

Here I go agian! 5 months, almost 6 months of no posting!! It's all FACEBOOKS fault you know! Well, Im off to Florida in 4 days! Friday morning at 6 AM, my flight leaves the cold city of South Bend to head to the warm Naples Florida for 4 glorious days of spoiling my oldest granddaughter as she turns 1YEAR OLD!! I'm looking forward to seeing you Lyla bean!! AND you too Shawnster and Karla!!

Santa POPPOP arrives in LaPorte agian! That's my hubby!! He is sooooo awesome to donate his time to the wonderful little ones in LaPorte! But this year he had an extra special reason to enjoy his Santa time, and that would be a special little girl out there in the crowd named Lia!! HIS GRANDDAUGHTER!!

Shawnster, this post is for you sweetheart! You are probably my only follower on my blog site, and I just want you to know that you and Karla have gifted Dad and I more than you will every know by bringing Ms Lyla here to Indiana to spend a week with us! You have put all your faith and trust in us this week to take care of your precious daughter who stole a piece of our hearts!! She is beautiful and we are so very Blessed! Here are some of my favorite pics of Ms Lyla this week and also of Lyla and Lia who got to meet for the very first time!!! Just where did 2009 go??? As I look back throughout the year, and ponder what 2009 brought to us and took away from us, I am exhausted thinking of all the changes that have taken place. God Rest Dad's soul! It's been over 6 months now that he has been gone, and is still missed tremendously! But in his place God sent two beautiful baby girls to us...our granddaughters~

We had a pretty quiet New Years Day, as the weather was brewing up a snow storm, and we are now sitting here on Saturday with over a foot of snow! It's actually beautiful from the inside...haha...haven't ventured out at all!! Mike went out to snowblow the drive and walkways, but I stayed in the warmth!!

We tested out the new Butterball Indoor Turkey Fryer yesterday, and OH MY GOODNESS...We had the BEST turkey ever!!!!!!! And it only took 45 minutes for this turkey to turn out GREAT!! Of course I went ahead and fixed the dressing, potatoes, gravy, corn casserole, etc....for just two of us, so there are lots and lots of leftovers for the week!

And we are starting our goal of getting on the Wii every day!! Wish us lots of luck!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and I'm just wondering if people with say Twentyten or Two Thousand Ten??? I kind of like Twenty-ten myself!!

Christmas 2009 couildn't get any better! We have two beautiful granddaughters to celebrate with this year! Aren't they precious!! We sure missed Ms Lyla (the angel on the right) this Christmas, but Santa was so good to me that he gave me an airplane ticket to visit her in January!! YEAH!! I can't wait to be able to spend a few days with her.

We were lucky to spend part of Christmas Day with Ms Lia and AJ and Gretchen at the Seitz's annual Christmas dinner today. They'll be at our house on Sunday for our own Christmas celebration!!It's amazing how much she changes in just 10 days!! And of course we had to have a family picture taken today...I can't wait for the day when we can have a picture with Shawn, Karla and Lyla also...hopefully this summer!!

It sure is hard having your family far away on holidays! I sure have missed my Dad this Christmas! He loved Christmas almost as much as my Mom did! And he was always sure to have a holdiay family celebration on Christmas Eve! Unfortunately the families have taken different directions this Christmas season, and we were not able to have the "Davidson" get together, but am planning one for after the first of the year, when everyone will be back around. I am hoping and praying that this will work, and that all my family will gather in the spirit of Mom and Dad! It never hurts to hope and pray!

On another cute note, here is my great nephew Jimmy, almost a year old, today at the Christmas festivities! He makes the greatest little Santa's helper, dont' you think???

Baby Updates!!

December 1st is only 5 days away, and that is the due date for Lyla Ann, the daughter of my oldest son Shawn and daughter in law Karla! The doctor has told them for 2 weeks now that she'll be arrivng any day, she's in place, so that has kept us all on pins and needles waiting for word that she's ready! Mike and I are planning on leaving and heading south the minute we know Karla is in labor, or that labor will be induced!

December 11th is the due date for Lia Catherine, daughter of son AJ and daughter in law Gretchen! Ms Lia has decided to turn breech on her mama and dad, and will undergo some massaging on Tuesday to try to turn her back the way she belongs! If that doesn't work out, then plans will be made for her entry to our world via C-section, possibly as soon as next Friday!

So, we'll see how our luck runs, and wonder what the chances are that I become a Grammy twice on the same day, and miss both of them!!!!!

Thanksgiving 2009

It's so hard to believe that it's Thanksgiving Day already, and it's been over a month since I've made a post to my blog!! We had a wonderful day with almost all the family here! Shawn and Karla had to stay in Naples close to the hospital since Ms. Lyla is due any day!! We sure did miss them!! AJ and Gretchen were able to be here though, and we made sure that Ms Lia was fed to her hearts content!!

My brother Gene and little Sister April and MaryLou (Chuck's MOM) were here, and Nichole and Baby Chance made it later (forgot to grab a picture while they were here...shame on me!! Ashley and Rorie made

it for dinner, but hurried out so that they could make it to Kim's in time for dinner there!! I'm just amazed at how grown up Rorie is becoming, such a little lady!! AND I love her glasses...they are PURPLE!!

The entire Seitz family was here including the newest addition Baby Jimmy...his first Turkey Day!!! We enjoyed plaiying some cards, which was something we did all the time at holidays when my parents were alive, and I think that AJ went home the winner tonight!! Here's a pic of AJ and I...hard to believe that this is my baby, who's getting ready to have a baby!! Notice the apron that I wore all day today?? It was my Moms and I'm lucky to have been gifted it by my Dad, and I wear it every holiday, so that she is always near and helping me prepare meals like she did for all thos wonderful years!!

I'm so thankful today for all of the wonderful things that God has blessed us with! Family, Friends, Jobs, a beautiful home and our health!!

Lia's Baby Shower

This past Sunday was Gretchen and Lia's baby shower, hosted by her dear friend Kelly and her mom Becky. It was such a nice event, and the presents were glorious as any baby shower should be. Mommy Gretchen glowed, and Lia was quite pleased with all her presents if some of the uncomfortableness Gretchen kept experiencing with her ribs were any indication!!

Rest In Peace My Friends..

It's been a sad week for friends of mine, and I hope you will keep each of them and their families in your prayers....

The week started out with my friend Donna calling to tell me her Busia (Grandmother), who she was very close to, passed away at the age of 95! What a wonderful life this woman has left, and what great gifts Donna has taken from her!

The Tuesday night a call came fom my friend Tina, who lost her Dad, who had just been taken to the University of Chicago Hospital for testing, and found to have some lung diseases. He went very peacefully also, and my heart goes out to Tina also, knowing how hard it is to lose a Dad!!

Heaven is filled with wonderful new angels this week, and we all must find ways to find peace with that!!

Clay Balls

A man was exploring caves by the Seashore. In one of the caves he found a canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone had rolled clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake. They didn't look like much, but they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could.
He thought little about it, until he dropped one of the clay balls and it cracked open on a rock .
Inside was a beautiful, precious stone!
Excited, the man started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained a similar treasure. He found thousands of dollars worth of jewels in the 20 or so clay balls he had left.
Then it struck him. He had been on the beach a long time. He had thrown maybe 50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into the ocean waves. Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he could have taken home tens of thousands, but he had just thrown it away!
It's like that with people. We look at someone, maybe even ourselves, and we see the external clay vessel. It doesn't look like much from the outside. It isn't always beautiful or sparkling, so we discount it...We see that person as less important than someone more beautiful or stylish or well known or wealthy. But we have not taken the time to find the treasure hidden inside that person.
There is a treasure in each and every one of us. If we take the time to get to know that person, and if we ask God to show us that person the way He sees them, then the clay begins to peel away and the brilliant gem begins to shine forth.
May we not come to the end of our lives and find out that we have thrown away a fortune in friendships because the gems were hidden in bits of clay. May we see the people in our world as God sees them.
I am so blessed by the gems of friendship I have with you. Thank you for looking beyond my clay vessel.
