“Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.”

-The Weird Sisters, Macbeth

In college, I was an English and Comparative literature major and of all the classes I dreaded taking was anything with Shakespeare. It is not that I found him difficult to read, I just didn’t (still don’t) think he is so great. I get his place in history, but I am not a fan–except!! for his Macbeth. I absolutely adore that play.

Could be for any reason: the witches, the story, Lady Macbeth (alone is amazing) or even the titular Macbeth. Whatever it is, I love it. So when I decided to take on selling my hand dyed yarns, I couldn’t think of a better name than the Wyrd Sisters!

I could go into this long and drawn out thing about the old english Wyrd vs the modern Weird, but honestly, if you found this site, you can find Wiki! Which leads me into something else about me, I am mean, or so my nieces tell me. So if at times it appears that I am being mean, I probably am. Don’t take it personally, it’s not you–it’s someone else (definitely not me, I’m always right! Something the BF is still learning!).

A little bit more about me: I like to be random and a bit chaotic when comes to my non-academic work. I don’t have a necessary order to what I am writing, I am just trying to give you an idea of what you are getting into with me. To begin, again, I am currently an admin in a finance department filled with numbers and graphs and math and stuff I just look at like it is a child’s drawing: pretty colors but afraid to ask what it is…

I guess I should actually talk about the purpose of this blog and my shop (linked, yes it etsy). I see this blog being an advertising tool, but also as an informative source. I only started knitting and crocheting about two years ago, but I was so overwhelmed by yarn and the amazingness that is stashing, that I just horded as much as I could without even thinking about fiber quality, project quantities or color planning. I just bought whatever I could with whatever money I could spare.

I want to post about the yarn I dye or buy and on what I have learned about the different yarns I have come in contact with. Also, every once in awhile, you might find a post or two, or a lot more!!!, about stuff going on in my life; posts could include, but not limited to, reading, writing, movies, life, mean moments and random randomness that pops into my mind. Always comment on anything, mean or not–I take no offense, I have medication for that!

As for my shop, I see myself dyeing yarns inspired by things currently in my life, where I draw colors from shows, music, LIFE in general. I use acid dyes and some natural dyes (fruits and vegetables) for my yarns, so no need to worry about heavy metals. I do dip, single color, hand paint and am working on a good self striping recipe. For right now, I will only offer sock yarn on a base of 75/25 Superwash Merino/Nylon in 100g and 50 g skeins, plus a couple 20g mini skeins. These are super small batch yarns, currently only two in each colorway. I don’t know if I will repeat colorways. As you can tell from this post, chaos is my mind, so I don’t write measurements down. According to the BF: I just do things. That is how I have always been and I don’t see a reason to change! Take a chance on me and stop by the shop. Leave comments about how much you love what I make and never question or give advice cause I am always right! [format sarcastic font]

I hope you have enjoyed another intro. Stop by for another update about my first line of yarn. It will be a special treat for fans of Steven Universe!
