Tangle Teezer [Review]

I bought the Tangle Teezer a few weeks ago from Sally Beauty Supply Store. I actually did not know much about this product at all. I just wanted a brush to tame my tangles in my hair. So I bought it just like that! It was around $13.50 Cdn. It's when I came home and I started searching it up that I found out it's quite popular and it's originally from the UK.

I have fine, thin, wavy/curly hair which has the tendency of getting tangled very easily. I was looking for a magic comb that would take these nasty tangles away without bringing tears to my eyes or having any breakage.

Yes, it is PAIN FREE!

I know it's not recommended to brush wet hair but I think it's not a bad idea to use it in the shower after applying conditioner. It really depends how much your hair sheds. If this brush is too harsh, you can use a wide tooth comb instead.

This product comes in different colours I think. I chose the hot pink one of course! It is a little bulky and I would prefer some sort of handle to grip it better.

Pro:

-Saves time when detangling hair.
-Painless process!
-Light weight tool.
-Can be used on dry or wet hair. Do not continue further use on wet hair if there is breakage.
-Reasonably priced.

Con:
-Should have a handle to better grip the brush since it is wide shaped.

This is a great hair tool and recommend this to everyone who has tangly hair. This would be great for kids who have tangly hair. I would definitely buy my little cousin this for sure. I still see her mom trying to comb her hair and the poor child is just yelling out in pain. Her hair is fine and quite curly almost like Side Show Bob. No Joke! LOL Wish I had a picture of her right now....

Speaking of crazy hair....

Here's an old (bad quality) picture of hair roller experiment gone wrong from 1-2 years ago. I secretly call it Krusty the Clown/Afro Hairstyle. LOL I always laugh at this picture whenever I see it. I used these cheap small hair rollers that really tangled up my hair so badly. It was a DRAG to remove each and every roller. O-M-G! I still rememeber my pregnant Aunt back then just laughing her A$$ off once she saw my hair condition! Good times though! I look mad sleepy as it was 2 AM at night. If only I had this Tangle Teezer to help me with all the crazy knots I had back then.

They are suppose to make the skin lighter.

Why would you want to be lighter fair skinned?

Because....

"Being fair skinned" is considered "Beautiful"

This concept is believed in South Asian culture and in other cultures as well. The darker skintones are actually looked down upon. These beliefs have always existed and are still existing today.

Sadly, these products are sold at our local Indian Grocery Stores and worldwide.

These products are still being bought by many women who are trying to achieve "lighter skin" in order to be "beautiful".

Some of these products actually contain bleach and obviously, it is harmful for the skin.

It's not really surprising when you see women layering on foundations that are so many shades lighter than their actual skintone...just so they can be considered "beautiful". It just looks hilarious looking after. Oh you Ghost ladies!

So you may start thinking.....hey what are bronzers for? Haha! This side of the Western world digs the "tan" look.

Seriously, people should snap out of this type of mentality and appreciate the skintone they have. I don't think I have ever complained about my skintone and I have always learned to appreciate it too.

Just remember we are all beautiful people!

Hair Products Haul & Tips [Brown - South Asian - Style]

I have not been taking care of my hair at all. I've decided that I must start making an effort in all this before it's TOO LATE! My hair type is fine and thin which currently has dry ends. Also, I do lose hair everyday and so I need products that will stimulate the roots and have good hair growth and maintain moisture and shine. So I decided to try out the natural conditioning products that are sold at Indian Grocery Stores. Popular conditioning oils are coconut, amla, almond, olive and castor. I am also considering using Biotin Vitamins for hair and nail growth.

The Haul!

I have read somewhere that the most strongest and healthiest hair in the world is probably "South Asian Indian hair". No, not everyone is blessed with healthy hair obviously. We get hair in different textures whether thick or thin, straight, curly, wavy or afro style....at the end of the day we all want it to be healthy and strong.

So have you guys watched the documentary film "Good Hair" by Chris Rock?

I loved it! It was informational with much comedy! =)

This video actually shows you the whole process behind weaves, wigs and hair extensions.

All of these are made from Indian human hair.

Warning: You may get grossed out by it.

Anyways, when I was younger....

I had much fuller hair with alot of volume. My mom would always put coconut hair oil and massage my scalp right before I took a shower. (Yes, typical brown mom!) I remember it smelled strong back then, but now some products are mixed with other oils and are not as strong smelling. Although, it really depends on how pure the product is. Sometimes, I remembering sleeping with the oil on and my mom made sure I had a towel on my pillow. It's been many years since I stopped using these natural conditioning oils and I'm thinking maybe I should definitely try these oils again. If it worked back then....why wouldn't it work now? Right?

Main problem is...you don't want to be a "greasy head" all the time! Hahaha....

Suggestions:

*For best results, warm up the oil a bit and massage it into your scalp. Leave it on overnight and make sure you have a "towel" on your pillow or use a shower cap and then wash it off with shampoo the next morning.

*To have intense conditioning, wrap a steam towel over your head after applying the oil to your scalp.

*After shampooing, you can apply a drop of oil to all over your head.

*How often should you do this? Maybe 2-3 times a week. I know it's tough....but I think I'll start off with doing it once a week for now.

So what did I get?

The Dabur Vatika brand is quite popular in the South Asian markets. I got a few products from their line. All of the following products were made in India.

Dabur Vatika Enriched Coconut Oil (150ml): This contains pure coconut oil, henna, amla, lemon, neem, rosemary oil, kapur kachri and soya extracts. The smell of this isn't as strong as the other products I've used but it's like coconut with a zesty tang. There are different sizes. I bought the smallest one and it was around $2-3 Cdn. The packaging of this involves piercing a hole into the center and squeezing the bottle so the product can come out. These oils can get solid inside the bottle and so you need to warm them up before using. You can place it in hot warm water beforehand or you can remove the entire plastic top and just squeeze the product out.

Dabur Vatika Naturals Hot Oil Treatment (1kg): This was around $7-8 Cdn. This tub is just huge! I took a picture of it along with a nailpolish just for size comparisons. I am sure this will last be for months. The smell of this is not too strong at all. This is a conditioning treatment that includes natural ingredients like egg, honey, castor and marrow.

Egg - Repairs and strengths hair from the roots.

Honey - Coats and conditions hair.

Castor - Propogates hair growth.

Marrow - Penetrates hair shaft to revitalize hair.

It can be used after shampooing and then applying it like a conditioner all over. Leaving it in for 10-15minutes and rinsing it off. You can also wear it for hours under a shower cap and wash it off later. You can heat up the product as well. It really depends on the time you have.

Marico Parachute Coconut Oil (200ml): There are different sizes for these bottles but I got the smallest one and this was $2.00 Cdn. This is 100% coconut oil. You may have to warm this bottle up for sure to use as well. The smell of this is VERY STRONG and this is obviously because of the natural ingredient of 100% coconut oil. Big warning about the smell of this one. It really depends on you and how much you can handle. You maybe better off with the previous products above.

Dabur Vatika Black Shine Shampoo (200ml): This was around $3.00 Cdn. My hair is currently black and I wanted to try out a shampoo which uses natural ingredients and also gives shine to black hair. I know I have used this product in the past when I visited Bangladesh. This shampoo contains black olives, amla and henna. The other main reason was that I just found it so cool that the shampoo itself was really BLACK!

Also, I am looking into hair mask and conditioning treatment recipes that involve olive oil, honey, lime and avocado.

MAC Haul [Mac Shop & Vera Collection]

I bought a few things from the new Mac collections recently as I had missed out in the past Iris collection. I had called the Mac store earlier this week to put few of the new products on hold. Most of the products in the collection are very much dupable and were repromotes. As I do have a weakness for lipsticks, I got a few lippies for myself and a nail polish. These lipsticks were sold out at the Mac stores but some of the Counters still do have them. I just checked the Mac Website right now and all of the lippies I bought are sold out. Glad I called the shop earlier. :)

Mac Watch Me Simmer Lipstick

Watch Me Simmer: A gorgeous bright coral with a hint of pink lipstick in amplified creamy formula.When applied on my lips it seems more coral "neon". It applies very rich and smoothly.

Watch Me Simmer, Red Full-Stop, Coral Polyp, Vegas Volt

Watch Me Simmer is very much alike with Mac Red Full-Stop (Lustre) Lipstick which was limited edition released in the past. Coral Polyp lipstick released with the Mac Dame Edna collection is also quite similar to Watch Me Simmer but it's darker and more red. Vegas Volt lipstick is from the permanent line and it's a true coral with more orange tones.

It's actually quite bright on me than what you see in the pictures. The pictures make it seem it's quite toned down but it's not. It's bold!

Mac Quick Sizzle Lipstick

Quick Sizzle: Another gorgeous very pigmented, bright matte pink lipstick to add to my collection. A magenta pink lipliner would go very well with this colour. Did I mention that it's MATTE? Yes, I just had to get this one. I adore the matte formula of this lipstick. Unlike, the other Mac matte lipsticks I have worn...it does not tug at my lips at all or feel overdrying. I'm guessing Mac is improving on their matte formulas. Well Done MAC!

It is very similar to Mac's Girl About Town (permanent) lipstick. I had swatched both on my hands at the store and it was the SAME! I also saw on other blogs that it is similar to Mac Hollywood Nights LE lipstick as well and so the main difference is the formula which is matte. I actually have none of those lipsticks but I do have many bold pink lipsticks. Well, I can never get enough of pink lipsticks of course. :D

Quick Sizzle, Gladiola, MUFE # 9

Mac Gladiola LE lipstick is one of my favourite bright pink lipsticks of all time. Seriously, I have back-ups of this very lipstick. I love it that much and yes, it is a matte as well. Quick Sizzle now joins the hot pink matte lipstick club. When comparing Gladiola and Quick Sizzle, you can obviously see the difference with Gladiola having more purple tones. MUFE # 9 is another hot pink lipstick that I have. It has a more pearly finish.

Mac So Vain Kissable Lipcolour

So Vain: A gorgeous warm peachy pink lipcolour! The formula is really in between a gloss and a lipstick. It applies very well but does have streaks that may accentuate the lip lines. Regardless, I still love the colour very much. I find that it can be tough to find a pigmented colour like this.

Malibu Peach, Play Day, Naylene D5

Mac Malibu Peach LE nail polish is a much darker coral pink colour. It's also quite gorgeous! Naylene D5 is a more neon peachy pink and I absolutely love it as well. I bought it from those asian nail salons. I'm also a big fan of creme formula nailpolishes.

I'm also thinking of posting a V-Day Inspired Look...so let's see how that goes.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick - # 34 La Raffinee [Review]

So this is my second Chanel purchase…..

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick - # 34 La Raffinee

My very first was the Chanel Lip Laque in Dragon (FOTD) and I heard that line will be or is already discontinued. Dragon is surely a beauty!

As I am a big fan of matte lipsticks and I just had to get this one!

When it comes to matte lipsticks…no matter what brand you wear, you MUST moisturize those lips regularly or else it can get overdrying.

The packaging is pretty impressive, classy and sophisticated. Of course, it is Chanel! It has a “click” mechanism where you click at the top and the lipstick pops out. Now that is interesting! I love the lil bulkiness of it as well.

I chose # 34 La Raffinee. This colour is a gorgeous dark rosy shade and it applies so rich and pigmented. I’ve never had this type of matte formula lipstick before. This is the most wearable colour from the colour range and . You can wear it on any occasion. It lasted at least 6-7 hours on me while through eating lunch. As for the texture, it’s not overdrying at all but it’s always good to moisturize the lips regularly. I noticed that there was no need for a lipliner for this colour at all. No bleeding involved either.

When applying this lipstick, it just glides on smooth like butter. It does not tug on the lips like Mac Ruby Woo lipstick. Now, that’s super drying but it’s such a gorgeous bold red colour…I don’t think I can ever pass that up. I would buy that again in a heartbeart!

Pro:

-Applies very smooth and has the “velvet” feeling.

-Long lasting power (6-7 hours).

-This matte formula does not tug at the lips at all.

-Packing is very sophisticated looking.

Con:

-Very expensive of course.

-Limited colour selection.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Overall Thoughts:

Yes, Chanel is a very expensive brand which is why you don’t really see me buying their products. I try to make this a “special buy” only when it comes to a certain brand like Chanel and so I try to “splurge” for the right products if that makes any sense. Due, to the pricetag on this I doubt I will be buying anymore colours. I wanted one lipstick from this line as the texture seems quite unique and I chose a colour that will be good for any occasion. Overall, I am satisfied by my one Chanel choice. It also looks so chic carrying it around and pulling it out of my purse. If I ever finish this lipstick, I would definitely purchase it again.

KORRES Products!

KORRES products has always been a favourite of mines. I'm a big fan of their body butter lotions the most. I recently finished the body butter lotion that smelled very exotic like yummy guavas. The smell and feel is just heavenly. I've always purchased them at Sephora but now they are sold at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada as well. Awesome!!!

I was recently sent some products to test out. I also gave my mom these products to try out.

KORRES Basil Lemon Body Butter

7.95oz/ 235ml

I have had body butters before that seemed very greasy, over-powering scent and took very long to settle into my skin. This one did neither. In fact, it was not greasy at all! It soaked into my skin very well as it was very moisturizing. I love how it has the exotic scent of Basil Zesty Lemon that stayed on for a long time. It is enriched with shea butter which makes it super hydrating. It also contains natural ingredients like sunflower, almond and avocado oils that help nourish and improve the smoothness of the skin especially for parts like the elbows, knees and heels.

So this would be perfect for the dry winter season that we are having in Toronto right now.

Quercetin & Oak Antiageing & Antiwrinkle Night Cream

1.35oz/ 40ml

As I am 24 years old right now, I don't see why it might be too early to start using Anti-Wrinkle / Anti-Aging products. I mean I should try to use products which "try" to prevent them right? Yes, it's all about the PREVENTION! We always are fighting for more youthful skin!

This is a night cream that is meant for all skin types. As it's so moisturizing, a little can go a long way. Normally, I have combination skin but this nasty winter has made it quite dry. The texture is very cream like and quite moisturizing that is perfect to be worn at nights so it can stay strong for the cold season the next day. It creates a good canvas for my make-up/foundation to apply on.

As for the natural ingredients, it contains quercetin and oak which is clinically proven to be the alternative to retinol. As people have sensitive skin, they do not want to put on chemicals like retinol at all and therefore, seek for natural ingredients. KORRES gives the solution with their natural ingredients. This product also improves the elasticity and firmness of the skin that results in a radiant glow.

Quercetin & Oak Antiageing & Antiwrinkle Eye Cream

0.51oz/ 15ml

Many eye creams that I've purchased in the past as resulted in burning sensations around the eye. I find this eye cream to be quite soothing. This eye cream contains the natural ingredients Quercetin and oak that plays the alternative to Retinol. It prevents signs of aging lines, dark circles and puffiness around the eye area. The formula is very light and not thick at all and perfect for sensitive areas like the eye areas. I really like the pump system but you just need a very tiny amount as a little can go a long way. As for my under eye circles, I do not think this cream can do anything as it's more genetics. Instead, it makes my eyes look more hydrated and well rested the next day.

Wild Rose Face and Eye Serum

1.01 oz/ 30ml

I love serums especially when wearing under make-up. It can be used as a primer for our make-up applications. Yes! A great canvas to paint on!

This product brightens up the face while smoothing out lines and evening out the skintone. The natural ingredients here contain wild rose which is a natural source of Vitamin C that helps boosts the radiance of our skin and make it bright and fresh looking. The rose scent of this is not over powering at all. It's quite light. I have also applied it right before my moisturizer in the morning. It is very hydrating and really brightens up my dull skin at times.

IMATS - Toronto - 2011

I had an awesome time at the IMATS this year.

It was held November 12 & 13. I only went on the Saturday. I saw many familiar faces.

My first stop was Make Up For Ever! Last year, it was 40% off but I think the discount prices were a tad higher this time. I knew I had to go here first since it was quite busy and as I had made my choices I had to wait at least 30 minutes in the line-up to get my MUFE goodies.

My next stop was OCC. I did not buy anything this year as I'm pretty happy with the OCC goodies I already have.

The Very Provocative Calvin Klein's Forbidden Euphoria (Review & Facebook Contest)

One Saturday morning, I was surprised by a lovely bouquet of flowers which came special delivery from "POPPIES-PLANTS OF JOY" which is located on 1094 Queen Street West, Toronto. I mean it wasn't my birthday or any other special occasion and so I was thrilled out by such a great surprise! However, one would've thought the "significant other" had sent it right? LOL

SO PRETTY!

Within this surprise.....Was another surprise! Yes, it gets even BETTER!!!

I received the New Calvin Klein Forbidden Euphoria Fragrance

from Coty Canada.

I believe the name of this fragrance says it all....

As I sprayed this the first time, it reminded me of a softer version of the Original Calvin Klein Euphoria Blossom which I already have. The notes start off as being very sensual and sweet, fruity and floral oriental. Specifically starts off with the scent of sweet raspberry, peaches and flower tiger orchids and ends with a soft musky wood scent. I do not find the floral/fruity side to be overpowering at all. I am pretty impressed with this new version and it has an edge to it. It can definitely be worn during the day and night. This is perfect for the younger generation of chic independent women.

Yes! This very sensual fragrance works great with my own body chemistry! I had sprayed this in the morning just before going to work. It lasted at least 5 hours on me. =D I even got compliments!!!

The bottle shape is so sexy looking as well! I love the darkened colour.

I am currently working full time and also going to school part-time so that's a juggle right there!

I have coloured my hair black just two weeks ago. I've been wanting a change for a while now and after a very long time I finally did it! It's actually a "demi permanent dye" that I bought from Sallys. It will fade eventually.

USA Lipstick & Cleopatra Liquid Liner [Vasanti Cosmetics Review]

I have been in hibernating mode for sometime now and it's about time I come out of my cave. I did miss the twitter/blog world very much!

I was sent a few Vasanti Cosmetics to review by the wonderful Farah. Today, I will be reviewing two products.
I also received an awesome concealer but that will be for another post.

This is a Canadian Brand and can be purchased in selected Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall/Pharmaplus.

USA

Soft Finish Matte Lipstick

USA: This lipstick comes in sophisticated silver packaging. It has a matte formula while still being very hydrating and creamy. It also has great long lasting power throughout the day. It stayed pretty well throughout my lunch meal. =D

There are only three colours in the Soft Finish Matte Lipstick Line. I hope there will be more colours in this line as I absolutely love the formula. USA is a muted blue base red lipstick. The blue tones are not as strong as Mac Ruby Woo or Russian Red Lipstick. It can be worn in almost any occasion. It's really up to you and how much you dig red lippies!

-Scent of this lipstick is pretty impressive!

Cleopatra Liquid Eyeliner

(Black)

Cleopatra Liquid Liner: It's an intense black liquid liner that comes in sophisticated silver packaging. The handle is easy to use and apply liners unlike other brands. I love that it's super black! The brush is quite flexible so it's easy for precise application. It does state that it is smudge-proof however it is not waterproof. I do not know how it will hold during the summer time. It might have tendency to smudge then. It did stay well on me all day long as I had winged out the liner. I think this would be around $16 USD.

Pro:
-Intense pigmented black liquid liner
-Dries to a matte finish
-Long lasting and smudge proof depending on the weather/temperature
-Flexible brush tip for easy application to make thin lines
-I have used it for almost a month now and so far there is no clogging/thickening in the product.

Con:
-I would want this to be waterproof as I would prefer wearing this during the summer time as well.

NOTD: OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark

This is my first actual NOTD. I'm wearing OPI Lincoln Park After Dark (Suede). It came out a while ago (Fall 2009) but I'm sure some beauty salon/supply stores still carry this collection. The finish is called suede which is matte and shimmer. This is a gorgeous collection and I wish to own every colour. As we all know that matte fiinishes tend to chip quite fast but these chipped a little later than the usual time.Check out the entire collection and swatches here.

Below is just an extra NOTD from a few days ago. It's Orly Petit Four. You can get this from Sallys. I love the formula of these. It's a pretty mauvey lilac shade with grey undertones. It's darker than OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender. I am a sucker for these kinds of shades.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics: Lip Tar [Review]

Ever since I heard about Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics from Youtube and the Beauty Blog World....I have been quite anxious to try them out. I finally got to purchase a lip tar from IMATS called Pageant which was a really pretty fuchsia pink colour. I was really impressed by this lip product so much that I wanted to explore more colours. Eventually and luckily, I was sent some OCC products to review. I was thrilled once I received the package.

Lip Tars are $12.50 USD

There are about 33 lip tar colours to choose from.

The colour selection is CRAZY! They have every single colour from blacks to blues to oranges and reds. Check it out for yourself HERE!

Lip Tars come in a small tube of 8ml and since these are SUPER pigmented

that a LITTLE goes a LONG WAY!

These are the ones I have right now...

Swatches:

Tarred, Feathered, Grandma, Harlot, Katricia, Pageant

These lip tars have a plastic slant tip applicator and the product comes out of the hole at the tip. As a lot of product comes out and since the product is so pigmented...I would suggest applying these with a lip brush and definitely use a mirror. It can be hard to prevent feathering if you just apply it as is. It's best to start off by applying a little product and then building up the colour. According to their website ....these are 100% Vegan, free of parabens and other harsh preservative. Also, it contains Hemp Oil, Peppermint Oil and Vitamin E.

These lip tars apply like a lipgloss while the results look like as if you're wearing a lipstick (satin finish). It also gives a peppermint tingly feeling to your lips. You can also apply a clear gloss on top.

However, if you don't like the smell or feeling of peppermint...you may not like lip tars as they have a strong scent.

You guys are probably wondering what's with the black and white lip tars? Well, the awesome thing about these babies are that you can produce different colours by simply mixing these together. Darken it with some Tarred (Black) or lighten the result with Feathered (White). HOW COOL IS THAT? Since these are intensely pigmented...a little goes a long way. You won't be wasting product. You can easily mix pinks with reds or purples with pinks. I had so much fun mixing these lip tars and trying out different colours. This even makes me want to stop buying anymore lip products since I get to customize my own. lol Although, I still want to try out the other colours that they have. For example, Hoochie, Vapid, Petty Beige, Cha Cha, Demure, Divine and Strumpet. I also loved the staying power of these lippies. They lasted at least 4 hours.

Now let's get to the real deal...

Pro:
-Heavily pigmented with long lasting power
-Formula applies like a gloss and results in a satin finish

-Excellent colour choices (from primary colours to light, neutral, nudes, bright, and dark)
-Easily mix colours to create pretty new ones

Con:
-I'm not too sure about this but I think you can only purchase these online or just at the IMATS and so shipping would cost more for international shoppers. There are suppliers in certain parts of the world now. Click here!
-Some may not like the peppermint scent or tingly feeling during/after the application.

-Too much product tends to come out and becomes messy
-Some may not like using a lip brush and see it a "hassle"
-Not too sure which batch I got but Tarred (Black)'s pigment started to separate from the solution as I tried mixing it to another colour.
-Takes longer to take off because of the intense pigmentation

Overall Rating:4/5

Overall Thoughts: Although these are more expensive than drugstore prices, they're worth it! I have no problem with the peppermint scent or the tingly feeling. I actually enjoy it. The colour payoff is outstanding and I am in love with the intensity of their pigmentation. I wish I had tried these lip tars earlier. I've honestly been missing out. I love the fun part of mixing and creating gorgeous new colours. The only thing that does bother me is that too much product comes out of the tube once opened and ends up getting messy.

Mac Peacocky Collection (Haul & Thoughts)

It's been sometime since I bought Mac products. I've tried my best to resist some of these Limited Edition collections but I caved in this time. This collection just came out. It consists of 15 Mega Metal eyeshadows and 12 Kissable Lipcolour lipglosses.

Noir Plum, Paparazz-she, Odalisque

I was really impressed by the texture of these eyeshadows and these eyeshadows are much bigger with more quantity. Even though quantity isn't a big factor here...I doubt I'll ever finish an eyeshadow that quick. Therefore, the quality of these eyeshadows is what interested me the most. It's a creamy but powdery formula that just slide on like butter, applies smoothly and blends magically. In fact, I would say these are similar to Starflash eyeshadows but WAY better. The finish of these eyeshadows are all metallic and you can enhance it by applying it wet. Some of the colours are more metallic than others. Also, you won't be leaving any wet spots on the actual shadow either.

Regular Eyeshadow Vs. Mega Metal Eyeshadow

These colours are super intense!

Paparazz-she - This colour appears to be a metallic burnt orange shade. I'm a big fan of orangey shades so I couldn't resist this one. According to reviews, it's supposedly the most metallic colour amongst the Mega Metal Eyeshadows.

Paparazz-she(LE), Firespot (LE), Off the Page (LE), Brash (LE), Mediteranee Nars

This shade seems to be similar to LE products. I would suggest grabbing this pretty shade as I don't see anything similar to this colour from the permanent collection. I would think this shade would be the most unique.

I forgot to include Mega Rich Pigment which was LE. I would think it is similar to Paparazz-she it but Mega Rich has more brown tones.

Noir Plum - This is a gorgeous vibrant violet colour. It's probably my favourite from the three shades I got. To be honest, I don't have anything too similar to this colour in my Mac eyeshadow collection. I still have to explore and compare it to the other brands. I just love how it applies so richly. I also think it might be lighter than Grape pigment.

Odalisque - This is another gorgeous teal blue shade that I just could not resist. Even though, I have so many similar shades from the same family. I wanted this more for the smooth formula. I obviously could not get an exact duplicate from my collection but I got similar shades to compare with. Most of my comparison swatches are of limited edition products.

Kissable LipColour Lipgloss

These Kissable Lipcolour lipglosses come in 12 colours and the formula is creamy like a lipstick yet having the same shine you get from a lipgloss. It comes in a long thin tube that are exactly like the Dare to Wear lipglosses. These are not sticky like the normal Mac lipglosses. Some of the colours are more opaque than others. It also seems to last long and seems to have the same staying power as the normal Mac lipglosses. This collection even includes a blue colour called Peacocky. I'm not sure if this is the first opaque blue lipgloss Mac ever produced. Although, I still remember the blue dazzleglass and the blue cremesheen lipstick.

I've been trying to resist lipglosses generally since I seriously need to finish up what I have. However, I ended up by getting one gloss only.

Flaunting It

This is a gorgeous plumy pink shade. It seems pretty opaque with micro shimmer. It's nothing like what I have in my collection. I can wear this everyday for all occasions. According to reviews online, it might be similar to Illamasqua's Move lipgloss but this is more on the plummy side.

I still have to check out the Mickey Contracter collection.I'm thinking of getting the double ended concealer in Coral Corrector/Yellow Corrector. I don't see myself getting any eyeshadows from that collection as I'm pretty happy with what I got from the Peacocky collection. I already have Lust lipgloss which is permanent and being repromoted in this collection. It's a gorgeous pinky brown shade and a staple for sure. The lipsticks seem pretty but are quite dupable. I might end up trying to b2m for one at least.

Marc Jacobs Bang Fragrance Review & Surprise GiveAway [Closed]

BANG!

The talented fashion designer released Bang by Marc Jacobs this year along with very attractive, sexualized perfume ads and magazine spreads where he poses half-naked on silver aluminum foil. The word "Bang" is quite self explanatory as the ads can explain it all. After seeing him in this way...I agree that he can definitely be a hot male model too. (*rawr*) Apparently, no other model would've done it better.

I was sent the 50ml Marc Jacobs Bang eau de toilette spray for myself to review and experience. The fragrance scent itself has been categorized as "Wood Spicy" and has very strong opening black pepper notes to it. It's very very spicy! At first, it can be very overpowering, however, it does tone down as it becomes a woody spicy with cedar scent at the base. Unfortunately, I don't think this is long lasting as I could not smell it much after two hours.

To be honest, I would NOT recommend it to people who are sensitive to the peppercorn scent.

I also asked my friend Bobby to sample this fragrance out for me.

Sorry Bobby...that's the only decent pic I had of yours.... =p

I actually agree with Bobby's thoughts. I guess we can somewhat conclude that it may not be targeted to the younger generation as it's more spicy which is liked by the older generation. Then again....everyone is different and have their own preferences.

The packaging seems to be in a gorgeous avantgarde bottle and I'm very much impressed by it. I think I prefer the bottle more than the fragrance itself. It felt very unique in my hands. It seems like a heavy weight metallic iron object...maybe something that IRON MAN would use as part of his gadgets? lol

WHY NOT HUH?

Now back to BANG!

I think Marc Jacobs did a great job with the "manly" packaging of the fragrance bottle but the scent itself....you will either like it or you won't. It really depends on your preference and your liking of spicy pepper scents. The price range starts from $60+ Cdn.

There is no need to apply them wet since the shades are that intense. However, these can still be used wet or dry. . As I applied them on my eyes...they seemed to be very opaque and I'm glad to see that they can be worn alone or without a base. You don't even need a base for these....YEH! YOU GOT THAT RIGHT! So Intense Baby!

In the past, I had bad experiences with loose eyeshadows from other online brands. I had some fade and crease so badly on my eyes even with a good base on. What a HORROR!

Beckah: Light Lavender Purple (Almost Pastel)

I liked the colours and texture of these. I would prefer it to have a swifter top because it did get messy when I opened it the jar. As you can see from the above picture, the shadow has gotten all over the place and around the surface of the jar. As I applied these on.....they had the same intensity of the Face Front Cosmetics Pigments.

Face Front Fresh Ink Eyeshadow in Metal Revolver $7.99 USD

Metal Revolver: It appears to be a steel grey brownish shade infused with silver reflects. It's nice that it's in eyeshadow form and not loose. I don't even have a colour like this. It's quite intense. I can't wait to try out smokey eyes with this colour. I'm sure it will look HOT!

Design Sticks: Tattooed Nude Lipstick $ 8.95 USD

This lipstick is a nude colour which is perfect for smokey eyes. It's texture reminds me of Mac's lustre finishes.

I had to layer it a few times to get it to cover my pigmented lips. It would look much better with a lipliner since I do have pigmented lips. The lasting power is the same as Mac's lustre finishes....so it isn't so bad.

Hail Cougar Boots! [ A Review ]

What do I keep in mind when purchasing winter/rain boots?

My main focus has always been getting into comfortable, strong gripped soled, warm and waterproof boots. Especially when it comes to our very chilly, winter weather of Canada. Can the boots take the slushy icy puddles we have on the streets? How about the - 30 degrees cold weather for the winter boots? You gotta be careful as to what you pick. In the past, I have bought boots where they ended up leaking in water and sinking into my socks. It was not a pleasant experience at all! I had to walk in my water leaked in boots to class. =( I've also been in really cold temperatures just waiting for the bus while having my feet get so cold and numb that at one point...I could not feel them anymore. No Joke !

Recently, I was sent Cougar Boots from Matchsticks to try out their Ravishing Black Winter Boots and Regal Black Rain Boots.

Cougar Regal Black Rain Boots.

When I wore these boots, they come slightly just below my knees. It has a circle ring on both sides of each boot and has the green and white Cougar Logo at the back. They felt quite comfortable when worn. These black rubber boots come in polar fleece linings while also being waterproof and having perforated insoles....which simply means that you won't get the stinky sweat smell since these boots are anti-sweat proof while eliminating odour. It is aligned with fabric to always have warm, dry feet. These are guaranteed to be leaked proof for at least six months which is awesome for the price as it goes for around $75.00 Cdn.

I've worn this out on a wet day last week and I purposely had walked through the wet parking lots just to test them out and I even stomped around in the wet puddles. LOL I also felt protected in the chilly fall weather during that time. It claims that it can go to Rated 0°C to -24°C / 32°F to -11°F. Also, the rubber soles seemed to be non-slip and had strong grip on the wet surfaces of the parking lot. I would say these are quite durable and tractable.

When I first received these rain boots, they did have have the strong rubber scent but if you leave them out for a while....it goes away. It's not really a negative thing, I think it's just very typical for all rubber boots to have this sort of scent.

Even though winter has yet to come....I wore these "cozy cuties" last week during the super chilly days. The days when my ears were hurtin' from the cold while my feet remained very warm and cozy. They felt super comfortable and cozy on my feet as the insulation of these boots are set for cold temperatures. I wanted to wear them all day long since they kept my toes so warm. These are PVC free which is safer for all of us environmentally without the use of toxic plastics. How Cool!

As for blog experimenting...

I decided to pour water and capture if they truly are waterproof.

This experiment was successful. As you can see the water is not leaking/sinking into the boots instead it is actually sitting on the surface.

I will be definitely be rocking these for the winter season. I shall be recommending Canadian Based Cougar Winter Boots to everyone as they will be keeping our toes warm and cozy for the nasty cold weathers. The IMATS HAUL!

I will be keeping this bag forever and ever....lol

I've been wanting to start a make-up kit in a while now. I figured that the IMATS was the best place to start with some basic essentials so I got the Graftobian HD Foundation Palette in Warm and Neutral. Each palette contains 24 shades. These palettes were also suggested by MakeupbyRenRen and GossMakeupArtist on Youtube. I already own many product/brushes as well that would work well for my kit. I'm super excited to use these palettes!

The lineup for this booth was CRAZY! We had to wait so long just to pay for the brushes. It was super busy. I don't know why they didn't have more than one check-out spots.

The NYX booth was like heaven! They had everything there and it was the largest booth that was right in the middle of the hall room. Many NYX products tempted me but I resisted. I only got a few lip/eye liner pencils.

I love matte formula lipsticks so much! I guess especially because I do have pigmented lips and the matte formulas are heavily concentrated which results in great colour payoff and staying power. If you're a person who thinks that Mac's Satin formulas are too drying then I would not recommend MUFE matte formula lipsticks as they are more dry. They don't apply smoothly so you need patience since it is a matte finish. It's really up to what a person likes and is comfortable with.

IMATS Toronto Part One

On Saturday November 6, 2010....I attended the IMATS (International Make-Up Artists Trade Show) which was held at the Toronto Congress Centre. I was SUPER EXCITED to go and it ended up to be an amazing experience. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend any demos/seminars/classes as I was mostly busy looking around and shopping. I also did not get to stay for the entire day as I had to leave early. I don't think I have done that much damage though but I'll be posting my haul in the next post. I did get to see many familiar YT faces and have met some wonderful bloggers.

Here are pictures of some of my sightings at the IMATS....I wish I had stayed longer and could've gone the second day as well. I had such a blast!!!
