This Post is only for those who Managed to Get JIO Sim using Non-JIO Phones Like Redmi Note 3, One Plus 2, Moto G3 Users.

If you are not able to get the Jio Sim

The SIMs will only work on the Device from which you Generated the Bar Code. So the First thing is Don’t Buy or Purchase Bar Codes or Generate Fake Bar Codes by changing IMEI from Anyone. It won’t Work.
Use your own Device to Generate Bar Code and then Try your Luck on Reliance Digital Stores. Don’t Worry. It’s Legal as you got the Bar Code from your Device only.

Here’s the Process to Activate it Correctly.

Install all JIO Apps beforehand using WIFI or Mobile Data. Specially JioJoin App.
After you Grab SIM, wait for the SMS: “Your Phone is Ready for Tele-Verification.” Normally it will Come by at best 48 hours. Sometimes it took 2 hrs only. Always put SIM in Slot 1. Turn Internet On in Slot 1.
Open JioJoin App. Accept Permissions. It will Automatically Verify your SIM. (Make Sure JIO Mobile Data is On)
Now Call 1977 using JioJoin App with Mobile Data On. This is VoLTE Calling. Calling with Internet Data. Your Default Dialer Won’t work.
Tele-verify your Sim. You will Get Internet Settings via SMS and Some Subscription Plan SMS within 5 Minutes.

All Done. Test your Internet by Downloading and Calling. (Yes, all Calls you do will be VoLTE Calls, and it needs Internet). You don’t need Internet to Receive Calls however.

Now Open MyJio App. Click Skip. It will Log you via Mobile No. Now you can see you got 2 GB Data and 100 Minute Call. Don’t Worry you will Get Unlimited after you Consume them.

Sim will NOT WORK on Non 4G Devices. You must Need 4G Device which may or may not Support Volte. If it Supports, then Better, you will Get Better Calling Experience. Even if it doesn’t support Volte, Don’t Worry, JioJoin will work Normally.

Hi guys
As you, all Mac users, have already noticed, installing the Android SDK tools on OS X is a little tricky. In this thread I've described an easy method of adding that support in OS X.

Prerequisites: open System Preferences, go to Security & Privacy and make sure the field Allow apps downloaded from is set to Anywhere. If not, the click on the lock in the bottom left corner, enter your user account password or just press Ok if you don't have such and change the radio button to Anywhere.

Ok, let's start:
1. Download the attached file and extract it somewhere on your Mac.
2. Double-click on the package file, you'll see something like this:

Click on Continue.
3. In the next window just select Install:

Sometimes you may be asked about the install location (usually when you have more than one volume), in such case just select the volume where OS X is installed.
4. In the next window enter your account password or just press Install software, if you don't have such:

5. The installation will begin and when it's ready, you'll see the confirmation window:

You have now installed the adb and fastboot binaries on your Mac! To check if everything is fine, go toLaunchpad, then Other, open Terminal and issue any of the two commands (adb or fastboot). If you see something like this (for fastboot):

then you're good to go.

How to Flash ROM on Mi 4.

In this tutorial, I will guide you how to flash these ROMs. Mi 4 has 2 kinds of ROMs, Recovery ROM (Stable ROM and Developer ROM) & Fastboot ROM (Stable ROM and Developer ROM as well)

Before flashing any ROM follow these 2 points :

1- Make sure your battery percentage is above 50% at least
2- Take a Back up. : Settings-->Additional Settings--> Backup & reset -->Local Bakcup-->Backup

Backup file will be created in : Internal Storage-->MIUI -> Backup-->All Back up
Copy this back up file on your PC or on OTG support
After flashing Copy the back up file from PC or OTG support respectively to: Internal Storage-->MIUI -> Backup-->All Back up
Then go to Settings-->Additional Settings--> Backup & reset -->Local Bakcup--> You will find the backup file -->Tap on it to restore

How To Flash Stable and Developer ROM.
Stable ROM.

You can download Stable ROM pack from Xiaomi Mi 4 Stable Rom Download tab. or Latest MIUI V6 6.3.9 India Specific Stable ROM.
Place that ROM Zip file into " Root" folder of Internal storage.( Just paste into Internal storage, don't paste it in any folder. For more Info check the Screenshot below)
Go to Updater App(you will find it in Homescreen-->tools folder-->Update,Blue color logo with Up arow ) -->Tap on the 3 dots in a circle (You will find it at above right corner of the screen)--> Select update package-->Navigate to ROM zip file and Tap on that file.

Developer ROM.

You can download Developer ROM from Xiaomi Mi 4 Developer Rom Download tab.
Place that ROM Zip file into " Root" folder of Internal storage.( Just paste into Internal storage, dnt paste it in any folder. For more Info check the Screenshot below)
Enter into Recovery Mode: Switch Off your device-->Press Volume up + Power Button simulataneously -->Select "English" (Use Volume up & Down button to Navigate and Power Button to enter) --> Wipe & Reset -->Wipe All Data
Wipe all Data is must before flashing Developer ROM to remove Google Apps and framework, If you fail to do that then all the Google Apps will give you Force close.
Check the above screenshots. Process is same as Stable ROM .
If you want to install Google apps : Go to Mi Market-->search for "Google" and install the apps. Apps will also ask you to install Google framework, allow it.

How to Flash Fastboot ROM.

Download the Fastboot ROM Latest Mi 4 Fastboot ROM -Download Here
Download and Install Mi Flash Tool on your PC

Download fastboot drivers and install them in your PC

minimal_adb_fastboot_v1.1.3_setup.zip .
After installing drivers restart your PC.
Take a Back up ( Check the above steps which I mentioned at the start)
Make sure your battery is above 50% atleast
Switch off your device and enter into Fastboot Mode by pressing Volume down+Power button simultaneously.
Connect Your device to PC by USB cord.

Follow the steps

Open the Mi Flash Tools when it is connected with your device with USB Cord.
Click on the arrow near the "Browse" button in Mi Flash Tools--> Select the "Browse" option and navigate to the FastBoot ROM folder which you want to Flash and Press "OK".

After Giving the correct path/ Browsing the Fastboot ROm folder.
Click in the Arrow of "Browse" button and select "Advanced" this time.
In "Advanced" option--> Navigate to the .bat file which you want to flash. Check the below Screenshot to see how each.bat file works.

After selecting .bat file. Click on refresh.
Your device will appear in Mi Flash Tool window if it is connected.

After you see your device appears in Mi Flash Tool. Press Flash Button to start flashing the ROM on your device

After clicking the "Flash" option. It will take around 2-3 minutes to flash your device.
When the operation is completed. You will see Progress Bar in green color.

After the complete operation your device will be booted automatically.
Now you can enjoy your device without any Software problem. Cheers!

After China, Can Xiaomi Be The Top 1 In Indian Smart Phone Market ??

Xiaomi executed a major coup in August 2013 when it hired Hugo Barra, one of Google's top Android executives, to be its global vice-president. He made it clear that Xiaomi's primary targets were not the affluent countries of the West, but "places like India, Russia, Indonesia, Latin America, Thailand … where the equation of quality and affordability works, because it's in those markets you can replicate what the company has done in China." "This [India] is a very large country with a very young population that's quite tech savvy," said Barra in January at the Delhi launch of a new model, the Mi 4. To this population, the "mobile phone is the gateway to the world," he said. "It's an incredible opportunity."
Today, according to Manu Jain, Xiaomi's India head, Xiaomi sells between 50,000 and 100,000 phones in India every week. The company initially shipped its stock to India on numerous flights, but now relies on its own chartered aircraft.
Despite its successes in India, Xiaomi has a long way to go to catch up with market leaders, including Samsung and Micromax: market research by a Hong Kong firm, Counterpoint, found that for the third quarter of 2014, Samsung commanded a market share of 25 per cent, and Micromax, 20 per cent, while Xiaomi, "with just two months of sales," had won a market share of 1.5 per cent. Jain says Xiaomi isn't focusing on taking on the current market giants. "We don't look at market shares or compete with any other brand," he says. Barra, too, insisted the company wasn't focusing on garnering market share. "It's about building an engaged user base," he said.
As the market for smartphones grew in India, the higher-end smartphone brands primarily relied on chips from the American manufacturer, Qualcomm, while Indian companies were quick to collaborate with Chinese companies who were making significantly cheaper smartphones. Most Chinese manufacturers also allowed importers to mix and match components, and thus create a range of models to appeal to a variety of consumers-particularly useful in a heterogeneous market like India.

The China Advantage

Xiaomi has positioned itself to appeal to users of high-end phones while offering them significantly lower prices than the competition. The company's pricing has always been at odds with standard industry strategy. "Typically, all consumer-electronics products have the maximum margins when they are launched," Rajat Agrawal, the editor of the technology news portal BGR India, says."Companies usually take advantage of it being the latest and greatest product the world has ever seen, and pile on their margins as well as marketing and other overheads while pricing a new product." Xiaomi follows the reverse strategy, offering new products with very low margins, and focusing on increasing revenues as the product stays in the market.
But while Xiaomi is benefitting from aggressive pricing and smart marketing in India, it is also facing conflicts over intellectual property. This is part of a larger trend of legal battles between technology companies around the world, involving major players such as Apple and Nokia. Rushabh Doshi, an analyst at the research firm Canalys, says that "due to their recent arrival into the mobile market, and also due to minimal investment into R&D, new entrants could fall victim to IP infringement of older companies like Nokia or Ericsson."
Agrawal believes that negotiating the patent regime will present a challenge to Xiaomi, "especially when it attempts to grow outside of China." But its rapid global success could also give it an advantage in this regard. "With its current valuation of about $45 billion, and a looming IPO in the next couple of years, which could theoretically value the company at $100 billion, Xiaomi could also look at buying patents to protect itself," he says. The legal dust-up should serve as a note of caution to smartphone companies trying to take advantage of the growing Indian market, according to Doshi. "It should give all smartphone companies in India, whether local or international, a wake-up call to ramp up their own patent portfolios, which can be used as bargaining chips in such injunctions."
Barra says that Xiaomi wanted "to build an Indian business and an Indian company. Manufacturing is in that spectrum and something we'd like to do." While he didn't commit to a timeline, he expects the process to start within a couple of years. Xiaomi joins a string of companies that have indicated an interest in producing smartphones in India. Some have already taken steps in this direction. Micromax, which was already making tablets in a facility in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, announced in April last year that it had also started making smartphones there.

Make in India Dream

Some of these plans dovetail neatly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Make in India" campaign, through which the government aims to attract investment in manufacturing centres in India. It appeared plausible that, in the natural course of events, we would soon see smartphones entirely manufactured in India, helped along by friendly government policies. But some industry leaders have also expressed uncertainty over setting up manufacturing here. Barra says, "It's not just about finding a factory in India. It's about having an ecosystem in place so we can source locally." Sudhir Hasija, the chairman of Karbonn, echoed this concern. "The most unfortunate part is that the supply chain is not in India," he says. "There are minimum 127 to 147 components in a phone. If one screw is missing, my entire production line is stopped." He adds that the immediate disadvantages of setting up a plant in India could be considerable. "My costs will go up, balance sheet dynamics will go up," he says.
Most smartphone facilities currently in operation in India are assembly centres, where workers put together components that have been fabricated outside the country. The capacity of Indian plants to manufacture smartphone components from raw material remains limited. If India is to transform into a global investment destination, like China, it will need to develop an ability in primary manufacturing, where industrial materials are created from raw materials.
As with companies in most other sectors, smartphone brands, too, are watching to see what incentives the government will propose under the Make in India initiative. Favourable policies may lead many who have currently expressed interest in setting up facilities in India, such as Karbonn and Xiaomi, to do so. But the prospect of a smartphone that is entirely, or even significantly, manufactured in India, remains a distant one. In the immediate future, we may see an increase in the number of smartphones sold in the Indian market that are also assembled in India, but most will continue to be "Made in China."

How to Unlock the Mi Bootloader

Unlocking Bootloader Procedure:
1. Download zip file (recovery file) of China developer ROM for your device, put it into phone storage (If you're using Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm version or Mi 5, you can unlock on MIUI Global Stable ROM,click here to download). Go to Updater app, press the three dot on upper right corner, and select 'Choose update package'. Choose the zip file you just put in phone storage. The update will wipe all user data, please make backup beforehand.
2. Log into the Mi account which has acquired unlocking permission on your device
3. Turn off your device, press the Power button and Volume - button at the same time to enter bootloader mode
4. Log into the unlocking tool on PC with the same Mi account. Connect the device with the PC using USB cable
5. Press 'Unlock'. The unlocking process will complete in about 10 seconds

After unlocking bootloader, users will be able to flash fastboot ROMs and custom ROMs. The unlocked device will be marked in the official service end. Users could lock bootloader again by flashing official MIUI ROMs. (This will need to use fastboot oem lock. Please note to flash offcial MIUI ROMs, otherwise your system won't be able to start)

Notes:
1. After getting unlocking permission for a Mi account, users can unlock the verified device immediately. One Mi account could only unlock one device within 30 days
2. Users could require for unlocking permission in this site: http://en.miui.com/unlock/
3. If a prompt says that the current account is not logged into a connected device. Please log in with this account on the device that needs to be unlocked
4. If your device is encrypted, unlocking bootloader will wipe all user data. Please perform a backup beforehand5. If your application has been rejected, please try to apply again later. And please input the real reason that you want to unlock your device in Chinese or English. Don't copy and paste others' unlocking reasons.

Why did Xiaomi Mi lock the boot loader for Mi devices?

Mi is an international brand now, but it's only in few countries currently, and is still in the stage of expanding its international market. So it's difficult for users from countries where Mi is not officially sold to buy Mi phones. Many users have taken the risk of buying from a unofficial reseller. But they sometimes get fake Mi phones, or Mi phones with unofficial ROM loaded with bloatware. You guys must have seen some users asking in the forum whether their Mi phones are genuine, or that they have weird ROM version installed on their new phones. This is really bad for user experience, and it might even cause property loss if some malware are installed. This situation also exists in China market.

Another problem Mi users have often encountered is that, after their Mi phones are lost or stolen, the person who got the device could easily flash a new ROM into it, and makes it almost impossible for our users to get their phones back. In the recent MIUI developer version update, we've add a feature that needs users to enter their Mi account info to use the phone after doing a full wipe. But if an ill-intentioned person knows how to use fastboot method to flash ROMs, this will not stop him/her from gaining control of the phone.

Based on the above two reasons, we've decided to lock the bootloader. We've also made changes to Mi Cloud's 'Find Device' function, and adjusted system update's verifying logic.By these combined methods, user data can be better protected, and user experience can also be improved.

What will change after locking bootloader?

Locking bootloader will not affect normal OTA updates
ROOT will be disabled if user has enabled it before. Enabling ROOT will need to unlock bootloader
Recovery mode is changed. Updating via Recovery will need to use Mi PC Suite
Devices with locked bootloader can not update using Miflash. Users need to unlock bootloader if they want to flash Fastboot ROMs.

Isn't locking bootloader against Mi's 'geek' spirit?
Locking bootloader is aimed to provide better user experience, which we've been trying to do the whole time. In the meantime, we've provided a unlocking tool for senior users who know their ways around flashing and tweaking their devices. (Unlocking Tutorial)

The unlocking process is really simple. After unlocking, the device can do all the things as before we locked bootloader.

The unlocking procedure will need Internet access to get the unlocking password. Also, the Mi Account logged in on the Mi phone and the unlocking tool needs to be the same. Otherwise the unlocking request will be denied. This will ensure that ill-intentioned people will not get access to your personal data.

How to Enable Usb Debugging ?

Well its easy , go to settings on your phone .Then click on About Phone > Now Tap 7 Times on MIUI version .

This will Enable Developer Options On your Phone . Now Go back to Main settings Menu .

Click on Additional Settings > Developer Settings > Enable Usb Debugging .

How to Setup Adb on Pc ?

Well for windows pc , simply install adb drivers or install Miflash Tool , it will install all necessary Drivers.

How to Disable Driver signature enforecement ?

On windows Xp its not required. But on Windows 7 and above while the PC starts Booting PRESS F8 this will Show a Menu while booting windows, Select Disable Driver signature enforement and press ENTER. Windows Would boot with it Disabled. If you are having trouble there are other ways as well Google it.

Connect Your Phone to Pc .

Allow the Usb Debugging POP-Up Notification on your phone .

Extract and open the AnF.zip download earlier.

Click and open cmd.exe

Now check if the phone is connected via adb or not

Type:

adb devices

Copy the Code

Press Enter if your Device is connected Successfully , you will see your devices's Serial no like below

Else check if you have allowed usb debugging permission on phone or not.
To troubleshoot disable-enable usb debugging from developer options in settings

If its succesfully connected then Type:

adb reboot edl

Copy the Code

Its " E D L" in Lowecase

The Phone would reboot after the Command to a Black screen.

And, a driver would start to install " qshusb qloader 9008"

After Driver succesfully installs...

Open Mi flash

click browse then locate the extracted fastboot rom . Then click Advanced.

Browse too flashall.bat in Fastboot rom folder at First option , Third option to prog_emmc_firehose_8976_ddr.mbn , then last two options browse to rawprogram0.xml and patch0.xml

Now , that Mi flash is Configured

Extract the Downloaded Unlocked bootloader.zip file and then paste and replace the file into the Images folder of your Fastboot rom .

Press refresh On Mi flash it would show you phone connected via some Com Port # no

Press Flash .

It would take some time to flash about 170-250 seconds or more

After the Miflash fastboot is completed suceesfully .

if phone reboots or not You need to hard boot it to Fastboot.

( if Miflash shows a error on clicking Flash , please restart Miflash and try again )

By pressing Volume Down + Power for about 30 + seconds

Phone would Switch to Fastboot Mode .

Now again open the cmd.exe from AnF.zip folder

and Type:

fastboot oem device-info

Copy the Code

It will show you the current Bootloader Status .

Now again Type:

fastboot oem unlock-go

Copy the Code

This will Unlock your bootloader .

Type in the previous command again to check if the status of Bootloader had changed or not.

To restore the default Bootloader copy paste the emmc_appsboot.mbn from Fastboot Rom to the AnF zip folder

"fastboot reboot" command to reboot phone.

NOTE : DONT FLASH MIUI RECOVERY ZIP ROM VIA TWRP after unlocking bootloader. IT HAS STOCK BOOTLOADER IT WILL RELOCK BOOTLOADER AND THEN BOOTLOOP . While Xiaomi has been quick to release the Redmi 3 Pro after the successful debut of its sibling the Redmi 3, it is no doubt the same unit withsome added features and specs to spice up their latest Redmi 5” smartphone offering. While things are not so bright for the Chinese brand back in 2015, they needed to catch up with domestic rival Huawei in terms of market share,hence the drastic improvements of the Redmi Series from plastic to brushed aluminum metal case.

The Redmi 3 Pro got released after 3 months since the release of the Redmi 3, the improvements are the following: Fingerprint sensor, additional 1GB of RAM and additional 16GB of Storage. At first rumors said Xiaomi will downgrade the battery to 3000 Mah in order to give way to the fingerprint sensor at the back, luckily they did not pursue that move otherwise the long lasting battery life of the Redmi 3 that we know won’t exist in this unit anymore.

Affordable luxury

Xiaomi first shot at an all-metal smartphone in the form of the Redmi Note 3 has been a success not only in China but already branched out and warmly embraced by Mi fans in India. The Redmi 3 Pro carried over the metal body of the Redmi 3 series, it has since been elegant and slim and it’s the current trending designs even for other smartphone manufacturers in China.

The Redmi 3 Pro sports curved edges design and gently sloping sides to make it easy to grip on the hands. The Redmi 3 Pro no longer has the criss-cross pattern on the back which many commented that it’s girlish in design.

The top of the phone shows the 3.5mm audio jack as well as the IR blaster and the noise-cancellation mic. While at the bottom we can find the Micro USB port, we were a bit disappointed with this one as we thought that they will sport the all new USB C port in this improved unit. The loudspeaker is still located at the back of the phone which prevents sounds from being clear when its lying flat on the table.

The phone is pretty easy to carry, being the 5 inches smartphone that it is, this is the perfect size for one handed use. The HD display is pretty good and it is equipped with the sunlight display technology.

This model has the latest MIUI 7.2 installed but still running on Android Lollipop 5.1.1, bootloader is locked therefore you have to checkout en.miui.com/unlock to flash your favorite custom rom should you require in the future.

Snapdragon 616, handles daily task well

The Redmi 3 Pro still sports the same SoC as its sibling,Snapdragon 616 is almost the same beast as the Snapdragon 615 only improvements in the LTE category and the antennas performance. This processor performs wellfor daily task like calls, text, messengers, social apps and online games. Its performance for multitasking is also good considering it has 8-cores ready tohelp you push those tasks to the finish line.

As for the thermal performance, the Snapdragon 616 is pretty normal running at 33.5C for standby, 35.5C for normal usage and 37C for fullload.

As for the AnTuTu benchmark scores, the Redmi 3 Pro gathered 32,770 Points which is just a few markers away from Redmi 3’s score of 31992, considering its just memory and storage upgrade.

Audio and Video:

We have tested the audio for the loudspeaker, it is pretty decent for a small phone of its size. We also tested watching 720p video via youtube and its pretty clear and crisp. Good job on that Redmi 3 Pro.

Badass Camera for a Budget Series

Xiaomi carried over the Samsung ISOCELL sensor 13-Megapixel camera under this budget device, the result is pretty awesome as we were able to grab pretty good snaps for indoor and outdoor, low light and well lit objects. The front camera is also pretty good for video calls as it sports a 5MP camera above the display panel.

A Battery that Keeps Going

One of the main focus that we have notice from this unit, othert han its pocket friendly price, is its battery. Rumors once said that they are going to cut down the battery from 4100Mah to 3000Mah in order to give way to the Fingerprint sensor, but luckily they were able to squish in the both together, and the winner? we the consumers. We were able to let PC Mark do the battery stress test for us and after the long endurance test, it yielded awhooping 13 hour 54 minutes for its battery. Pretty impressive huh?

With the recent launch of Mi5 and the success of the Redmi Note 3 Pro series, Xiaomi need a little below 1000 RMB phone that is competitive in the market, and hence this review unit is the savior. In China, Mi Band can be used to verify the user’s identity as Mi Band can only be paired with one device. This service was introduced on last year and it supports Alipay and Mi Wallet. You can enable this function after you bind your Mi Band with the apps. Do note that you need to keep a distance of 15m between Mi band and your smartphone. HOW TO RESTORE IMEI NUMBER IN XIAOMI SMARTPHONE

you may be wondering how to retrieve that IMEI number of your phone once you finish flashing and it says "Invalid IMEI", and your box is gone. The IMEI is normally located at the back of the box or inside the phone when you remove the battery. Too bad Redmi Note 3 is now a Unibody meaning you cannot take off the battery like Redmi Note 2.

Now here is how to do it:

Take of the sim tray

Use a sharp object to open the corner of the screen (something that looks like a guitar pick)

slide it across all the edges of the screen

slowly take of the back case

check the IMEI code located above the battery

Place the cover back, make sure the ribbon is not twisted or else your fingerprint scanner wont work properly

Boot on your phone and follow this guide

1) Open Dialer and type in *#*#3646633#*#*

2) You will see EngineerMode. Select: "Connectivity" -> "CDS Information" -> "Radio Information" -> "Phone1"

3) In top field, type in AT +EGMR=1,7,"IMEI"

NOTE: after АТ must be a space, otherwise command syntax will not work

4) Press "SEND AT COMMAND"
5) Go back
6) Go to "Phone2"
7) In top field, type in AT +EGMR=1,10,"IMEI"

8) Quit EnginnerMode and reboot the phone

Check your IMEI by typing *#06# in Phone

Congratulations, you have restored your IMEI without needing to locate your box anymore.

Xiaomi Mi 5 : Review and experience with Comparision Mi Note

We Are very sure everyone that every one excited with the launch of the new flagship Mi5, and very eager to get 1 set. The online sales on mi.com/mi5 was also INSANELY fast, sold out within 5 minutes shortly it opened for sale at 10:00am (+8GMT Beijing). There was much disappointment for many Mi fans, whom didnt managed to get hold of 1 set. Well, if you haven't managed to order one, don't sulk over it. (Always believe something good is going to happen!)

Well, let us bring you on the journey to admire this INSANELY FAST& UNSHAKABLE Mi 5. ( review and experience will be made reference to the Mi Note,).

[First Look]

From the bottom view first, the front fingerprint scanner , which is also the 'Home' button. It comes with Type C USB port, and the 4 holes at both sides are the speakers

From the top, we have the standard 3.5mm line out/speaker jack port, and the IR Blaster in the center

There is no photo of the back, the Mi 5 32GB has the same 3D glass material as the Mi Note. Just a teaser, the elegant white Mi 5 with the Silver/White Mi Headphones.

[Comparison with Mi Note]

I believe everyone had seem numerous 'solo' photo of the Mi 5 only, but you might be wondering how does it compare to other Mi device? Well, the followings photos will be a comparison of the Mi 5 with the Mi Note.

Both Mi 5 (left) and Mi Note (Right) placed side-by-side. The differences in sizes is quite obvious.

Now, both placed on top of each other, to compare the thickness, it is pretty much the same thickness.

While still placed top-to-top, and reference from the top, the differences is quite obvious. Holding the Mi 5 in my hands, just feel 'small'. Maybe I'm too used to the Mi Note size!

Now to the side view, notice the size bezel is extremely thin, the touchscreen is almost at the edge of the Mi 5. Outlook and feel of the side Volumer rocker and Power buttons almost look and feel similar.

On on the other side, not much differences to scream about, the SIM card tray slot.

Last but not least, from the top view, taking reference from the bottom of both Mi 5 & Mi Note.

After comparing with the Mi Note, you might be wondering how does it compare with the other flagship Mi devices. So now, let us compare them side-by-side with Mi 4 too!

After the initial hands-on and comparison the outlook with the Mi Note & Mi 4, the Mi 5 is definitely for those who wants to fit a smart device into their hands comfortably, and also to operate with 1 hand only. For the gentleman, it will fit into your front pocket of your jeans neatly and comfortably. While for the ladies, it's slenderness, slimness and 'featherly -light' weight, it will fit in nicely into your small purse, handbags, and of course, in your hands.!

Well, what really impressed me, are as follows;

4-axis OIS: I hold both Mi 5 & Mi Note, in both left & right hand, put into Video recording mode. I did couple of shakes left and rights on both hands, the Mi 5 really surpasses in this aspect, while on the Mi Note , the video recording also shakes are you shake your hands. And to highlight, the Mi 5, which uses PDAF, auto focus and 'lock' on to the subject much accurately and faster, than compare to the Mi Note!

Full functional NFC: This is the first ever NFC-enabled Mi device, and it offer ful NFC functionalities (e.g. READ/WRITE mode). I done a NFC, "Android Beam", to another NFC- device, it work like a charm and in a breeze. There is no need to do additional settings to pair &/or sync! It is really amazing!

Front finger print scan: Although this is not the first Mi device to have this capabilities, BUT, it is wonderfully integrated together with the front 'HOME' button. For those whom dont know about the new Mi 5, the 'HOME' button WILL just feel it is only a 'HOME' button!

The launch of Mi 5 was definitely one of the most exciting news for all of us. I believe many are having Mi Note Pro and will be looking for an upgrade, as Mi Note Pro was announced almost 1 year before. Mi Note Pro was definitely a flagship of Mi in the last year and this year, the flagship title has been taken from Mi Note Pro and has been crowned to the Mi5. Lets take a quick look of both the phones specifications.

What is GSM , CDMA, GPRS, LTE,HSPA in Mobile Network ?

In This lesson we learn All about Mobile Networks.

Primarily there are 2 Types of Networks:-

GSM (Global System For Mobile)
CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access)

Within GSM we have multiple frequency bands which are named as following:-

GPRS
EDGE
UMTS
HSPA
LTE

The Band Frequency List is as follows:-

GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - Europe
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100 - USA
LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 38(2600), 40(2300) - Europe

There are variations based on different locations and countries.

I'll be focusing more on how the network connection takes place.

When you buy a phone you are given a SIM (Subsriber Identity Module). As the name suggests, this is the device that identifies you on the server side of the service provider.
Now the SIM has a number which is masked behind the 10 Digit Number that you are given as your phone number, thus creating an alias of the SIM number making it easier to identify.

Once you insert the SIM into your device, the SIM generates a message and sends it over to the server at the Service provider.
This message contains information like
1. The SIM number.
2. The IMEI of your device. ( for a multi-sim phone the IMEI will be of the slot you put the SIM into)
3. The Location.
4. The Phone Model Number.
5. Service Active or Not. (In case you are a new customer some Operators want you to call a specific number to get the service activated, so the service active will go as NO.)

in an encrypted format.
Once this message is recieved at the server, it is decrypted and recorded for security reasons.

Now Lets look at the Formation of the whole GSM network.

As you can see there are sections named as Cells, which are Hexagonal in shape.
There is a specific reason for the Hexagonal Shape. The hexagon shape allows for the maximum coverage of the surface of the earth
The following diagram shows the cell site division with a circle in which you can see some space deadspace between the 3 circles.
Whereas in the Hexagonal Structure there are no dead spaces

You might ask a question as to why the circles cannot overlap. The reason for that is, if the circles overlap, it means that the tower located at the center of each cellsite will have an overlapping
range with the cellsite besides it, which can cause signal jumping from one tower to other on a frequent basis leading to call drops.

Now lets have a look at what exactly happens when you place a call:-

First and foremost the phone checks if you are connected to a network... If you aren't it sends out a message saying Mobile Network Unavailable.

Now once your handset finds network, it exchanges some information with the BTS and Registers your Sim to the Network.
Now when you press the call button, a chain on information flow is eastablished as follows

Your device ------> BTS -----> BSC -------> MSC ------> Destination BSC -------> Desitnation BTS --------> The person You called.

Your phone will send out information about where you are and the person you're trying to reach to the BTS (Base transreceiver station). Each cell will have a BTS and your phone will connect to the closest one simply because it has the best signal strength.

Next, the BTS will connect to the BSC (Base Station Controller) which is essentially a hub that has numerous BTSs connected to it and from there on, the BSC connects to the Mobile Switching center (MSC).

Now, the MSC is where the magic happens. The MSC has a bunch of registries/databases called the HLR, VLR, AUC and these are used to look up the details of the person you're trying to reach. Depending on where you are (home location ie. where your number is registered/ visitor location ie a different city) and also where the other person is, the MSC directs your call to the appropriate BSC. This is also where there is an authentication to make sure that everything is in order (ie. you haven't stolen a phone or its not a number flagged by the police) and also the billing for each call.

And then, following a similar link setup, the call finally reaches the person you're calling. Oh, and all this, takes less than a millisecond!! How crazy is that?!

Now that we know how you can call someone, lets talk about those times when you simply lost the connection in the middle of an important discussion. Imagine you're in a car going home and you're calling you mom to ask what's for dinner. What happens in this case?
Its logical that you cannot stay connected to one BTS as you keep getting closer to home. So lets take a look at what happens when you cross from one cell to another.

There is a process called handoff which, like the name suggests essentially hands off you're connection to a different cell. As you get closer to the edge of a cell, you're phone's signal strength reduces and this is an indication for a handoff to be triggered. There can be two ways in which handoff is performed

Hard Handoff: In this case, the phone's connection is broken completely from one cell and its BTS before it gets a connected to a new cell. This happens so quickly that it isn't usually noticed by the end user but still, it isn't the best way to do a handoff. Its sometimes called the break before make type of handoff.

Soft Handoff: Here, the phone's connected to a new cell before its connection the the first BTS is broken. Of course, this is a more costly model of handoff, however it ensures that there is no break during handoff. Its also called the make before break type of handoff.

Now, handoffs aren't just performed when you switch cells. They can also happens sometimes when the channel you're using needs to be changed. This can happen within a cell and in such cases, you're relative speed or movement from one cell to another has nothing to do with the triggering of a handoff.

Yet another reason is when there are a large number of people in a particular cell and its past its capacity and in such cases, it hands over the call to an adjoining cell provided that the adjoining cell has enough signal strength to complete the call.

Now lets come to the Second part CDMA
Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is the second type of technology used by telecom providers.
CDMA phones can be without a SIM card or with a SIM Card
The phones without SIM are provider specific and have a pre-programmed identifier that is compatible with only one specific Service provider
In a SIM based CDMA phone the Service provider provides a SIM (Similar to that of a GSM SIM) and it needs to be put in the phone to activate service.
The first CDMA phones introduced in India were by Reliance and were Powered by Qualcomm2000 processors.

CDMA requires a bit more processing power as compared to traditional GSM technology. It's a "code division" system. Every call's data is encoded with a unique key, then the calls are all transmitted at once. The receivers each have the unique key to "divide" the combined signal into its individual calls.Code division turned out to be a more powerful and flexible technology, so "3G GSM" is actually a CDMA technology, called WCDMA (wideband CDMA) or UMTS (Universal Mobile Telephone System). WCDMA requires wider channels than older CDMA systems, as the name implies, but it has more data capacity.

Mobile Station(MS):

TheMS is the mobile subscriber equipment, which can originate and receive callsand communicate with the BTS.

TheBTS transmits and receives radio signals, realizing communication between theradio system and the mobile station.

TheBSC implements the following functions:

Packet DataService Node (PDSN):

ThePDSN implements the switching of packet data services of mobile subscribers.One PDSN can be connected to multiple PCFs. It provides the interface betweenthe radio network and the packet data network.

Home Agent (HA):

Theagent locates at the place where the Mobile Node opens its account; receive theregistration information from MN, Similar as HLR in mobile network. Broadcastthe accessible information of MN. Setup the tunnel between FA&HA. Transferthe data from other computer to the MN via the tunnel.

MobileSwitching Center (MSC):

TheMSC implements the service switching between the calling and calledsubscribers. One MSC is connected with multiple BSCs. The MSC can also beconnected to the PSTN, ISDN or other MSCs. It provides the interface betweenthe radio network and PSTN.

VisitorLocation Register (VLR):

Itis a dynamic database, stores the temporary information (all data necessary toset up call connections) of the roaming subscribers in the local MSC area.

VLRis used to store the subscriber information of all the MSs in its local area,which can be used to establish the incoming/outgoing call connections, tosupport basic services, supplementary services and mobility management.

Home LocationRegister (HLR):

Itis a database for mobile subscriber management, the HLR (Home LocationRegister) is responsible for storing subscription information (telecom servicesubscription information and subscriber status), MS location information, MDN,IMSI (MIN), etc. The AC (Authentication Center) is physicallycombined with the HLR. It is a functional entity of the HLR, speciallydedicated to the security management of the CDMA system. It stores theauthentication information. It also prevents unauthorized subscribers fromaccessing the system and prevents the radio interface data from being stolen.

Have you ever wondered how your phone can tell your exact location on earth ? its possible due to a technology called GPS and it is our subject today. I hope this gives you a brief information about how our location can be calculated by the GPS technology.

GPS or Global Positioning System is huge network of satellites that orbit earth and they beam down signals to anyone on earth with a GPS reciever. These signals carry a time code and geographical data point that allows the user to pinpoint their exact position, speed and time anywhere on the planet.

History

GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day and relies on between 24 and 32 satellites that sit in a "constellation" orbiting the planet at medium earth orbit. This is a distance of least 20,000 km above the earth's surface, but no higher than the orbit used by TV, communications and internet satellites, and weather satellites, the so-called geostationary orbit, which is at an altitude of approximately 35,000 km.

How does it work ?

The GPS system is based on concept of time. The satellites carry a very stable Caesium Atomic Clock (i hope you remeber caesium is taken as the standard of time so 1 second is defined as 9192631770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium 133 atom). So the atomic clocks are most accurate and all satellites are synced to each other and are regurlarly maintained here from ground.

These GPS satellites are constantly transmitting their current time and position. and when you turn on the GPS reciever on your phone it starts recieving them. And then the reciever monitors multiple sattelites and solves some equations to determine the distance of your phone and the satellite, remember that it takes some time for the signal to reach the reciever and that time lag (it just compares the time the signal was sent from the satellite and the time it was recieved by the reciever) multiplied by speed of light gives you the distance! as Cs 133 clocks are very accurate in sensing time differences. Now imagine a circular perimeter around you. This perimeter is the probability of finding you in that area. the radius might be 100km or a few hundred metres. So now your position is not that accurate. Now your phone is connected to another sattelite and it also gives info about you location. and then another satellite is connected. Now the intersection of these circle of a probability function will provide the exact location of you with approx. 3-10 metre radius. The more satellites are there the more accurate your position is. At least minimum 4 satellites are required to give your approx location (three satellites for the x-y-z coordinates and one for clock deviation from satellite).

What is its use ?

For navigation purposes. Google maps can give you the map as well as direction and GPS tells you your location and both these are a perfect combination for real time navigation. And there are many other uses which you can read here or here.

Why does it take time to lock on GPS ?

The GPS signals are sent at a speed of 50 bytes per second. But that said there are technologies that promises to boost geo-location like the DARPA and Galileo .
And GPS consumes a lot of battery also, as the signals need to be refreshed constantly if you are travelling.

What is the difference between AGPS and GPS ?

In case of an A-GPS device it uses the existing servers for e.g. of the mobile network tower and bases to get the information from the satellites. Since these servers are continually sending and receiving information there is no delay in knowing the exact orbit and time location of the satellites. In other words the time to first fix is a lot faster than a normal GPS. Also these servers have good computation power so they can analyze the fragmentary signals received from the GPS receiver and those received directly from the satellite and thus correct the error. It will then inform the receiver its exact location.

Near field communication (NFC) is the set of protocols that enables smartphones and other devices to establish radio communication with each other by touching the devices together or bringing them into proximity to a distance of typically 10 cm (3.9 in) or less.

Guess what ? Xiaomi has NFC tags manufactured. Which are basically stickers that you can program to do something when your phone reads the NFC . Read along to find more about NFC.

NFC tags contain data and are typically read-only, but may be rewriteable. They can be custom-encoded by their manufacturers or use the specifications provided by the NFC Forum, an industry association charged with promoting the technology and setting key standards. The tags can securely store personal data such as debit and credit card information, loyalty program data, PINs and networking contacts, among other information. The NFC Forum defines four types of tags that provide different communication speeds and capabilities in terms of configurability, memory, security, data retention and write endurance. Tags currently offer between 96 and 4,096 bytes of memory.

At its core, all NFC is doing is identifying us, and our bank account, to a computer. The technology is simple. It's a short-range, low power wireless link evolved from radio-frequency identification (RFID) tech that can transfer small amounts of data between two devices held a few centimeters from each other.

Unlike Bluetooth, no pairing code is needed, and because it's very low power, no battery in the device being read. By tapping your phone on a contactless payment terminal in a shop, train station or coffee shop is able to identify your account (and even your personal preferences, shopping habits and even your most frequently travelled route home) and takes payment through an app on your phone.

Android Pay

As with proximity card technology, near-field communication uses magnetic induction between two loop antennas located within each other's near field, effectively forming an air-core transformer. It operates within the globally available and unlicensed radio frequency ISM band of 13.56 MHz. Most of the RF energy is concentrated in the allowed ±7 kHz bandwidth range, but the full spectral envelope may be as wide as 1.8 MHz when using ASK modulation.

There are two modes:

Passive communication mode: The initiator device provides a carrier field and the target device answers by modulating the existing field. In this mode, the target device may draw its operating power from the initiator-provided electromagnetic field, thus making the target device a transponder.
Active communication mode: Both initiator and target device communicate by alternately generating their own fields. A device deactivates its RF field while it is waiting for data. In this mode, both devices typically have power supplies.

NFC devices are able to receive and transmit data at the same time. Thus, they can check for potential collisions if the received signal frequency does not match with the transmitted signal's frequency.

A standard Ultralight nfc tag can store a URL of around 41 characters, whereas the newer NTAG203 nfc tag can store a URL of around 132 characters.

1. On your Redmi/Mi,firstly pair up with a wi-fi for internet acess on your device.

2. Go to Settings.

3. Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot.

4. Tethering & portable hotspot > Bluetooth tethering.

5. Bluetooth tethering > Turn on.

6. Then, go to Paired bluetooth device and pair with another device to share the internet on that device. After pairing click on the ">" button of that device.

7. On the paired device, you’ll need to enable Internet access via Bluetooth.

Next, you should see the below prompt on your Redmi. Tap Allow.

AC Adapters

An AC adapter is a type of external power supply. AC adapters are used with electrical devices that require power but do not contain internal components to derive the required voltage and power from mains power. The internal circuitry of an external power supply is very similar to the design that would be used for a built-in or internal supply.

Most AC/DC Adapters are linear power supplies,containing a transformer to convert the mains electricity voltage to a lower voltage, a rectifier to convert it to pulsating DC, and a filter to smooth the pulsating waveform to DC, with residual ripple variations small enough to leave the powered device unaffected.

A linear circuit must be designed for a specific, narrow range of input voltages (e.g., 220–240VAC) and must use a transformer appropriate for the frequency (usually 50 or 60 Hz), but a switched-mode supply can work efficiently over a very wide range of voltages and frequencies; a single 100–240VAC unit will handle almost any mains supply in the world.

Advantages

External AC adapters are widely used to power small or portable electronic devices. The advantages include:

Safety — Much of this style of equipment uses only voltages low enough not to be a safety hazard internally, although the power supply must out of necessity use dangerous mains voltage.
Heat reduction — Heat reduces reliability and longevity of electronic components, and can cause sensitive circuits to become inaccurate or malfunction. A separate power supply removes a source of heat from the apparatus.

Configuration versatility — Externally powered electronic products can be used with different power sources as needed (e.g. 120VAC, 240VAC, 12VDC, or external battery pack), for convenient use in the field, or when traveling.

Problems

While useful for many purposes, some external AC adapters have attracted criticism. Problems with this type of power supply include, but are not limited to:

Size — Power supplies which plug into the mains directly without using a plug on a cable (true wall warts) are bulkier than bare plugs; sometimes they are too large to plug into power sockets with restricted space, or into adjacent sockets on power strips (due to the fact that they can block other plugs also).
Inefficiency — Some idling power is wasted as the power supply is left running when the equipment power switch is off or the equipment is disconnected from the power supply. In recent years it has become common for equipment with internal supplies to share this problem due to the use of a "soft" power switch.
Compatibility problems — There is no standardization of connectors; the same connector is often used for different voltages, and for both DC supplies and AC-to-AC transformers. Incompatible voltage or polarity may be present on physically interchangeable connectors. This easily leads to using the wrong power supply, which can destroy equipment.

USB Adapters

The USB connector (and voltage) has emerged as a standard in low-power AC adapters for many portable devices. In addition to serial digital data exchange, the USB standard also provides 5V DC power, up to 500 mA (900 mA over USB 3.0). Plug-in adapters equipped with USB receptacles are widely available to convert 120 V AC or 240 V AC power or 12 V DC automotive power to 5 V DC USB power (see photo at right).

Qualcomm Quick Charge

Quick Charge allows for high levels of current to flow to the battery, in an attempt to maximise its charging efficiency. The latest Quick Charge products also tend to charge their batteries at higher voltages, allowing for a higher rate of power transfer through commonly found cables.
However, both the phone and the charger must be compatible with the same charging voltages and currents. Your phone may support charging at 9V/2A, but if you only have a 1A charger then the process will take longer. Likewise, plugging a 2A charger into a phone that can only accept 0.7A won’t make it charge any faster.

Quick Charge 3.0

Qualcomm's latest line of SoCs have a new charging feature, dubbed Quick Charge 3.0. The new standard, which will ship on the Snapdragon 820, 620, 618, 617, and 430 next year, promises to take a phone battery from 0 to 80 percent in about 35 minutes. Qualcomm says the new charging standard will "improve fast charging up to 27 percent or reduce power dissipation by up to 45 percent when compared to Quick Charge 2.0." provided vendors use Qualcomm's "advanced parallel charging configurations."

The new standard uses an algorithm called "Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage (INOV)" which lets the device continually request a power level from the charger, from 3.6V to 20V, in 200mV increments. Quick Charge 2.0 only offered four charging voltages, but 3.0 offers 82 different voltage "sizes," which Qualcomm says results in "minimized losses, increased efficiency, and improved thermal performance."

Quick Charge 3.0 is backward compatible with versions 1.0 and 2.0 and is connector-independent. You'll need a new phone and a new charger to take advantage of the higher speeds.

For smartphones, the actual maximum amount of power available has not really changed from Quick Charge 2.0’s 18W maximum. Newer 9V models will still take the same 18W peak power as before, although lower voltage batteries may receive a power boost, allowing them to charge up a little faster than before. But this all depends on the exact hardware.

And even if you charge it for just five minutes, it will give you a call time of up to 2 hours.

Aside from fast charging, the technology also offers port overload protection, system temperature protection, battery voltage protection, battery fuse protection and other features that will ensure comprehensive safety for your charger and the devices it powers. How to Root Redmi 2/Redmi 2 Prime

This guide will root your device through Stock MI recovery, but this is not Native Root. A new app named SuperSU will be installed, which will give root Permission.

Note : - Rooting does not Void Warranty.

Caution:

This is a safe process, but We are not responsible for anything bad that happens to your phone.

In most cases this approach of rooting should not block OTA updates.

Prerequisites:

Redmi 2/Prime Stable/Developer Global ROM.

Root.zip File

Steps to follow for rooting:

1. Download the Root.zip and Copy the file to the folder 'Internal storage' (root of internal storage)

2. Open the Updater app, Press the 3 dots at Right Top Corner, A menu will open. Tap on “Choose Update Package“ and select the Root.zip File.

3. Wait until device will reboot.

4. After reboot a new app SuperSu will be installed.

5. Open the app and Choose"Continue".

6. Choose "Normal", Don't Choose TWRP/CWM, device will go into Boot Loop.

7. After sucessful updation , press ok.

8. Your Phone has now Root Permission.

Open any app using Root permission and SuperSU will ask for Permission.

Enjoy your rooted Redmi 2.

Un Root The Device:-

For Un Root , open the SuperSU app,tap on Settings, Choose Full Unroot.

Your Device is Un Rooted Sucessfully.The SuperSU app will be removed.

Xiaomi sure knows how to stay in news. The company's products are not finding their way in the country, yet we have been hearing a lot about them in the recent times. Only few days ago we had informed you about Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi Pad 2 China launch dates, then came in leaks and rumours about its upcoming products, and now we are hearing that the company plans not to bring all of its devices to India. It will only focus on strengthening its smartphone lineup in the country and has postponed the launche of its smart TVs, Mi band 1S and air purifiers.

According to Country Head Manu Jain, in the 2016 Xiaomi will also focus on expanding its e-commerce operations as well as fortifying its existing smartphone business and ecosystem in the country in the year 2016.

Two smartphone devices that will make it to India this year are the Redmi Note 3 and the Mi 5. While the Redmi Note 3 is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 650 processor

Just a few days ago, Xiaomi vice-president Hugo Barra announced that the flagship smartphone Mi5 will, for the first time in the company's history, be showcased at the upcoming MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2016, Barcelona. Now, Barra has teased the Mi5's display on social media platforms for fans to guess the features of the device.

In the image, we were able to find two features -- one NFC (Near Field Communication), its activated icon is visible at the status bar on top. And on the same location, we also see two signal bars indicating the presence of dual SIM -- One normal 4G-LTE and another 1x CDMA (China based carrier).

We are three weeks away from the Xiaomi Mi5 launch event and surely the company in its bid to build buzz around the device's unveiling is likely to tease a few more features.
