Easy Solution when Vuex Getters are not working or you can't access Vue Getters

It took me way to long to figure this out. The default getting started of vuex doesn't tell you that there's a big difference when using namespace: true in your store. Instead of accessing your getters like this:

isMenuActive() {
  return this.$store.getters.isMenuActive
},

...you actually have to to do it like this:

isMenuActive() {
  return this.$store.getters['menu/isMenuActive'];
},

I hope this helps. If you are curious: The first example could never work, because, internally, the getters object uses the Bracket Syntax [ ] to store these getters namespaced. It's actually a javascript object that looks like this:

getters: {
  "menu/myFunnyGetter": 250,
  "menu/anotherGetter": "Abracadabra",
  "info/giraffeSize": ">3m"}
}

I like vuex, and it's clearly a capable solution to some problems, but I feel like nowadays, people just don't know how to write good documentation anymore. It's really important to get that down, or else you risk wasting valuable hours of countless people's life. Vue is also very guilty of this, by never providing example file paths or file names in their tutorial section.

BE CAREFUL WITH THIS ERROR IN FIVEM SCRIPTING | SendNUIMessage

It took me a lot of time to figure out what was wrong with the simple code for my FiveM Server.

I just wanted to test a Javascript callback function that gets invoked by the SendNUIMessage function.

First of all, the documentation is wrong about the case of the method. it's actually SendNUIMessage, as I used here in this text and title, and not SendNuiMessage (the letters "ui" are not uppercased in the reference, which is wrong).

The next problem was figuring out what the hell was going on. I haven't yet found a way for the FiveM Server (FXServer?) to show me more error messages, but on the other hand, I have only played around with it for a ~10 hours.

Since coverage for Javascript server & client scripts for FiveM is pretty scarce, you might get more problems than a lua user - simply because there is less help for you out there.

Most tutorials and questions that google comes up with in relation to SendNUIMessage don't cover one important thing: you have to use the JSON serializer!

WRONG:

    var sendMsg = function() {
        SendNuiMessage({text: "Hello, World!"});
    }

This example would never fire a 'message' event to your html and javascript files, and I tried everything, trust me on this one.
RIGHT:

    var sendMsg = function() {
        SendNuiMessage(JSON.stringify({text: "Hello, World!"}));
    }

I'm working a procedurally generated PACMAN clone. The hardest thing atm is programming the Ghost's movement right. I'm using the A* Algorithm for Grid-Based-Movement involving Cost, but it's still pretty confusing.

I have always wanted to use the 3D features of GameMaker, and now I finally did. I actually plan to make a real game out of this prototyped concept. But I'm most definetively not going to do it with GameMaker: Studio, because, seriously, this just lags. I get around 40-60fps (Dual Core machine duh... my real rig got fried) on this machine, but not very consistent fps. I already hired "graphics artists" (read: got some friends that are really good at drawing and got them Wacom Tablets) and will work this concept out in java and c#. My goal is to have a 3D Dungeon Crawl Engine ready and working for Android.

The shortfilm features the IRIS, a moving robot arm, and is shot with a real camera - this is no after effects sorcery! "Box" explores the synthesis of real and digital space through projection-mapping on moving surfaces. The short film documents a live performance, captured entirely in camera. Bot & Dolly produced this work to serve as both an artistic statement and technical demonstration. It is the culmination of multiple technologies, including large scale robotics, projection mapping, and software engineering. How go get a Bugatti Veyron / "Adder" and Maserati / Ocelot F620 in GTA V easily

Hey guys, I found an easy but also easy-to-miss way to get a Bugatti Veyron, or "Adder" hypercar in GTA V.

After the 35th Mission you are invited to a Construction Site at the letter 'D' while playing Franklin.

If you go there, you will see people standing around very nice cars, including Michael and Trevor.

Instead of advancing to them and starting the mission, just pull out a gun and start shooting at their cars, they will start to run away and leave the cars behind, unlocked.

Now you can easily take the Bugatti or Maserati standing there and park it in your personal garage (parking it at your house may cause it to disappear). Et voila, you just got yourself one of the finest and rarest cars in GTA V for free.

(Alternatively, if you want the Maserati a.k.a. Ocelot F620 instead, just start the mission and throw a sticky grenade at 'D' after you entered your vehicle. Answer the mission failed message with circle then x and you will still be in the car. Bring it to the personal garage to save it.)

It's often just small stuff, yeah, but think about that - there are people in the world making those small USB jacks for a (miserable) living. Just so we can enjoy connecting our USB sticks everywhere.

Cube World - The Next Big Thing

It's been one Month since Cubeworld has been released as Alpha version and I have played it for 'some hours. What is Cubeworld, you may ask?

Cubeworld (or Cube World) is a Voxel-Based-Open-World-Action-RPG (think 3D Dot Game Heroes) for Windows (Mac and Console Ports are planned, too). According to the Developer "Wollay", it has been inspired by games like Minecraft, Zelda, Secret of Mana, Monster Hunter, Diablo, World of Warcraft "and many more".

While this may be true, Cubeworld still feels like a very original game, even if it's just because that mix is so unique. The Art Style is very lovely and the Combat is fast & fun.

The only thing that bothers me ATM is that it can take quite a while to shake an aggressive monster off your butt, but that's about it. Many things are planned for the game and it only costs 15$ right now, so be sure to grab yourself a(digital) copy and support Wollay and his Wife, who is also a part of the dev-team :)

I found this amusing list when i decompiled the LGSettings.apk present in maybe every LG ICS Device's ROM.
LG's developers seem to have fun in hiding some bad words in their ROMs,
did they know this would be discovered somewhen? lol

This is real, and has not been altered by me. While I don't think that someone did this for harm or evil purpose, I still think it's lol. The most reasonable solution is that this was test-code, and the developers just forgot it in the file. (It's XBSALL's ported ROM from the SU760, ported to Optimus 3D / P920)

A Tutorial on Android Themes

Hey guys, I was asked how to make an Android Theme, and as I answered the post, i realized that it became very long, so I'll post it here instead, to have some content and very many commas :P

Prerequisites / what you need

First of all, what you need:

-A file extracting program like 7zip -> http://www.7-zip.org/

-A good photo / image editor (Artweaver is real insider's tip (essentially a free Photoshop clone);
Gimp can be sufficient if you don't have alternatives) -> http://www.gimp.org/ | http://www.artweaver.de/

-The Official Android SDK (for the 9patch-drawer) -> http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

-This APK Managing Tool (i think it's called xUltimate, you can find some tutorials on this site)

-A File Manager on your Android Phone, my personal favourite is ES-File Explorer
(which is free, looks nice, has professional features and root capabilities, check the Settings Menu)

Getting Started

1. you should decide what you want to change graphically, most .apk's (the executables of Android) are stored in either:
/system/app/
/system/apps/ or
/data/app/
on the root of your internal storage.

If you, for example, want to edit the Status-Bar of Android, that's in SystemUI.apk in /system/app, if you want to for example change the appearance of the notifications or other system stuff, that's in Framework-Res.apk.
Now you should extract the .apk (it's nothing more then a zip) and there will be folders called drawable, drawables-hdpi, drawable-mdpi etc., where for example hdpi stands for high dots per inch (e.g. 800x480, 1280x720 etc) and so on.
There will be graphics files that end with .9.png, those are 9-patch files, which mean they consist of
9 parts ,and are used for scaling, the top discipline of android. You can read more about it on here http://goo.gl/0Yuve (credits go to Yorzua of xda-devs)

Now change the graphics to your likings, and once it looks exactly how you want it to look (and please don't be sloppy! Check for wrong pixels and Aliased edges, which are often a product of too many round, overlapping layers. The outcome will be +200% better if you remove them), open the .apk again and insert all the stuff via drag&drop (this might be cheap but works).

Signing

Now you have to go to the APK Manager folder and place your file in the place-here-for-signing folder, start the APK Manager and choose option '16' (batch signing), fig. A.

This is neccessary for your file to work on Devices with enforced Signatures (which are, like, most?).

Optimizing

After this is done, you can choose to optimize your file, which makes it smaller (PNG-optimizing) and faster to process (Zip-Aligning). To do this, choose option '15', fig B.

Don't mind the strange numbers running down as if your PC was the Matrix, it's trying to find the most efficient optimizations (fig C).

Rinse and Repeat

After you're done with signing and optimizing, it's time to transfer the APK to your Phone, either manually, or, if you have the Android SDK installed (which you should, if you paid attention!), via option '13'. Though I think that this option is only possible if you set your .apk up as a Project, which involves a little more work (like, 5 clicks more...).

The last thing to do is the most tedious one; It could happen to be that your app isn't working, or that it's force closing. At this Step you have to track down the errors you possibly made, e.g. you only changed the MDPI graphics, but your device is categorized as HDPI or LDPI. Or maybe you didn't use the 9patch tool from the tutorial to compile the 9patch files, or you wrongly inserted the files into the APK via 7zip.

But, if you keep your work clean and traceable, then you won't have to guess much about what happened, and often times it also goes by without an annoying error.
