Nikhil Chinapa Recalls Punching A Fan After He Grabbed Pregnant Mini Mathur

Nikhil Chinapa, the recently evicted contestant from Amazon Prime's reality show Alliance, opened up about his 24‑year bond with Mini Mathur and why he always feels protective of her. Their friendship dates back to their MTV days, although the two former VJs used to shoot separately.

Recalling one standout memory from those days, Nikhil told Mid-Day, “I can go back 24 years and feel what I felt when Mini told us she was going to be a mom. There was this outpouring of warmth and happiness.”

Nikhil then shared a shocking incident from that event. “As we were walking after the show, some guy from the audience tried to grab Mini. I saw it happen and in half a second I leapt over the barricade like Spider-Man and punched the guy in the face. That feeling of protectiveness has never gone away. We've lived different lives for 24 years, but after reconnecting on Alliance, I feel the exact same protective instinct towards her.”

Nikhil on protecting Mini Mathur on Alliance

Speaking about his friendship with Mini Mathur, Nikhil said the two entered the show with an unspoken promise to protect each other.

“We just knew that we had each other's back. Whatever that meant, because we didn't know in what situations we would need to have each other's back.”

He recalled protecting Mini during the game, saying, “I had Mini's back in the last week where I had to make sure that I got her off that list because I had a feeling something bad was going to happen. She got off the list. I couldn't. I got kicked out.”

Nikhil described Mini as his “guardian angel” inside the house. “People had doubts about me and Mini was always the calming force saying, ‘Nikhil is not like that.' She was like my guardian angel throughout the show,” Nikhil told the publication, stressing that their friendship was not a strategy.

With the finale around the corner, Nikhil admitted he is worried for Mini's journey. “I worry for Mini. If she makes it through this week, I think she's a strong contender to win, but I worry she's going to be the target because I'm not there to watch her back.”

Nikhil also said that after his eviction, Mini can fully concentrate on saving herself in the game instead of dividing her attention because of him.

Education Secretary Vineet Joshi Replaced Amid CJP Protest Over Paper Leaks

A top bureaucrat has been removed from the Education ministry in a first big move by the government as students across the country demand accountability over paper leaks. Education Secretary Vineet Joshi has been replaced with Naresh Gangwar, an official government notification said late Thursday night.

Joshi, who became the Secretary in the Department of Higher Education in January 2025, has now been appointed as the Secretary in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Joshi's removal was part of a major reshuffle that included 13 appointments and four in-situ upgrades.

The reshuffle also saw TK Anil Kumar, additional secretary in the Department of Rural Development, being appointed as the secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy.

The government's move came amid massive protests by the satirical political outfit Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and opposition parties over exam paper leaks, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

A ruling party MP said that the Education Secretary was removed for showing apathy to the paper leak issue.

"Prime Minister Modi has replaced the Education Secretary for showing apathy regarding the paper leak issue. Strict action will be taken against those responsible for the paper leak, as well as those who displayed negligence or apathy. Modi's guarantee," said BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.

In a late-night development, a fast-track court has also been formed to hear paper leak cases, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi assuring more strict action on Friday.

Who are Joshi and Gangwar?

A 1992-batch officer of the Manipur cadre, Joshi has previously served as the chief secretary of Manipur. He was also the first director-general of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts competitive exams like NEET and JEE.

Joshi has also served as the chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and additional secretary in the Ministry of Education. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from IIT Kanpur and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT).

Replacing him is Gangwar, a 1994-batch officer of the West Bengal cadre, currently the secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying.

The seasoned bureaucrat has served as the collector in several districts in Rajasthan, including Tonk, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, and Bharatpur. In 2014, he was appointed the secretary in the School Education Department in Rajasthan.

In 2020, he got his first central role, with him being appointed as joint secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. Last August, he moved to the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying as secretary.

He holds an MTech degree in communication and radar, besides an MA in economics.

PM Modi's Assurances

The administrative reshuffles came hours after PM Modi assured a fast-track court for swift disposal of paper leak cases and steps to safeguard students' interests.

In a late-night video statement, he promised that more action would follow on Friday in paper leak cases. A discussion will be held in the cabinet, and the government will try to pass a bill in Parliament in the next week, he added.

Concluding the note, he thanked the people of the city and the saints who blessed him, as well as his friends and the film's crew.

Then one day he said, 'Dekho, ek din tum log ka break-up hoga. Tu yahan se aake royegi, woh wahan se aake royega. I love you both, and I don't want to take sides. (Look, one day you two will break up. You'll come here crying, and he'll come there crying.' We were stunned because he had completely figured it out,” Sonakshi recalled.

She remembered it was during a trekking trip when Salman finally called it out by walking up to Zaheer and telling him, “Dekh raha hai sab (everything is visible).” The couple immediately realised that Salman had seen through their relationship all along and that there was nothing left to hide.

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal met at a party hosted by Salman Khan. The couple began dating in 2017 and kept their relationship away from the public eye for years. They even starred in the movie Double XL together back in 2022.

Later in June 2024, the couple tied the knot in a civil ceremony under the Special Marriage Act. They had a registered marriage ceremony at Sonakshi's Mumbai residence and chose to have an intimate ceremony with family and close friends in attendance.
