Guido Schäfer, professor, University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands will give a talk. Congestion in traffic networks has several negative effects as it causes environmental pollution, waste of natural resources and time, stress on the traffic participants, etc. With the increase in traffic in recent years, it becomes an increasingly important issue to implement regulation means that efficiently reduce congestion in networks. In this context, road pricing has long been recognized as being one of the most effective regulation means.

"Current state-of-the-art models of human actions in realistic videos, e.g. the bag of spatio-temporal visual words, are often based on the aggregation of local features in an orderless fashion. However, actions are by essence temporal phenomena and some actions, like "sitting down" and "getting up", can only be reliably classified if their models incorporate some temporal structure. We present two recent results on incorporating temporal information in state-of-the-art recognition methods"
