It runs on the well-known Mozilla platform. It reminds us of Flock, often called the browser for social media addicts. But Epic stands ahead of Flock in various ways. Here are the Pros and Cons of the new browser Epic: &nbsp; &nbsp;Pros: &nbsp;Customizable: 1000+ skins and also you can choose from over personas. Watch NDTV 24X7, NDTV इंडिया and NDTV profit online without any streaming problems. Indic typing with the integration of Google transliterate. Anti-Virus protection for both your computer and downloads optional. Write: Create a word document and save it as a HTML file. Snippets: Useful for taking screenshots of webpages – either select certain image or a paragraph and drag-and-drop it to the snippet sidebar or take a complete screenshot of a webpage. Cricket news and live scores – Everybody knows India loves cricket and the Epic Browser is no exception. Regional News, Events and financial events. Daily masti – Jokes, quotes and gyaan of the day. Epic video – Watch videos from youtube right on the sidebar. My computer – Browse your computer directly from the browser; You can open upto 5 tabs in the Computer sidebar. Social networks, E-mail accounts and Twitter in sidebar. To-dos: A great alternative to rememberthemilk.com with alerts in. Timer: Need not run to your cupboard to pick your stopwatch up with the timer feature in Epic browser. Get directions with epic maps – Google maps integration. Search for jobs – with indeed.co.in integration. Book tickets with yatra and cleartrip integration. Games: Time for some entertainment. Backup files by logging in to your gmail account and now, initially, each file size is limited to 10 MB mark. It is expected to increase soon. Collections: Save similar websites to one collection by clicking the collection icon next to the tabs. To load them, open the collections sidebar and click on the collection’s title. Bookmarks: Just the same as in Firefox browser, Self-explanatory. History: Epic is very careful about your privacy, it has a private browsing icon and a clear browsing data icon in the address bar. 10,000+ Firefox addons compatible. Epic apps: 1500 sidebar applications, but we recommend you to keep the number of applications minimum so that the blazing speed of Epic will be maintained. Cons:Showing of the sidebar even in pop-up windows is quite disgusting – I click the re-tweet button in a post and even then, the sidebar shows off in the pop-up also. Because it is a fully loaded browser, it takes more time to boot as compared to chrome, Firefox and safari. More the number of sidebar apps and add-ons more is the time taken to start the browser.&nbsp; No Home button in the address bar Link: Try out Epic browser It is very clear that the pros over-weigh the cons and it is browser which must be tried by any internet user, especially an Indian internet user. This time, it’s for “Maverick Meerkat ”, the new Ubuntu release from Canonical. And yep it’s better than the previous version “Lucid Lynx”. There have been some drastic&nbsp;changes&nbsp;in the UI and under the hood. Maverick Meerkat , out of box, is faster, more social, cloud integrated…basically it feels like an operating system you would want to use today. &nbsp; So without wasting any more word let’s get on with the list: 1 – Expand the Software Repository List First of all, lets make Ubuntu “see” more packages. Go to the terminal and edit your sources.list with : sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list&nbsp;Here is the content of my sources.list which I think is quite complete to have all the necessary applications you could ever need. So delete the whole content of your sources list and replace it with the content of mine Save it. Now import the necessary repositories keys to avoid “apt-get” crying about some missing keys, go to the terminal and type: sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com DCF9F87B6DFBCBAE F9A2F76A9D1A0061 A040830F7FAC5991 2EBC26B60C5A2783 Get your system up to date with : sudo apt-get update &amp;&amp; sudo apt-get upgrade Now all your programs will run on the last version. 2 – Anti-Virus Windows equivalent : AVG AntiVirus, NAV, TrendMicro, F-Prot, Kaspersky, … Ubuntu equivalent : ClamAV, Avast * ClamAV sudo apt-get install clamav clamtk Access it through System Tools → Virus Scanner . * Avast wget http://files.avast.com/files/linux/avast4workstation_1.3.0-2_i386.deb &amp;&amp; sudo dpkg -i avast4workstation_1.3.0-2_i386.deb Access it through Accessories → avast! Antivirus . 3 – Essential tools for compiling from sources sudo apt-get install build-essential checkinstall cdbs devscripts dh-make fakeroot libxml-parser-perl check avahi-daemon 4 – Java runtime environment Java is a very important thing to install, now that many programs like Azureus need it to run. So type: sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin equivs 5– Gnome Do Gnome Do is a small application that allows you to search and do things faster and more efficiently in your Ubuntu machine. It is similar to QuickSilver in Mac and Launchy in Windows. For those who have not tried Gnome Do before, it might take some time for you to get used to it. But once you’re hooked to it, there will be no turning back for you.Gnome Do also comes with a dock interface that you can use it like any other docks. sudo apt-get install gnome-do Now you can launch it from Application → Accessories → Gnome Do 6 – Multimedia Windows equivalent : windows media player, real player, vlc, mplayer Ubuntu equivalent : vlc, mplayer, helix player To have Ubuntu playing all kinds of stuff, you need to install many codecs. So on the Terminal, type: * Installing vlc and mplayer (plays almost everything): sudo apt-get install vlc mplayer * Common packs sudo apt-get install non-free-codecs libxine1-ffmpeg gxine mencoder mpeg2dec vorbis-tools id3v2 mpg321 mpg123 libflac++6 ffmpeg libmp4v2-0 totem-mozilla icedax tagtool easytag id3tool lame nautilus-script-audio-convert libmad0 libjpeg-progs libmpcdec3 libquicktime1 flac faac faad sox ffmpeg2theora libmpeg2-4 uudeview flac libmpeg3-1 mpeg3-utils mpegdemux liba52-dev * Gstreammer 0.10 sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 gstreamer0.10-gnonlin gstreamer0.10-pitfdll gstreamer0.10-sdl gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse gstreamer0.10-schroedinger gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse totem-gstreamer * More programs sudo apt-get install gstreamer-dbus-media-service gstreamer-tools ubuntu-restricted-extras * Enable dvd support sudo aptitude install libdvdcss2 &amp;&amp; sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/./install-css.sh * Flash sudo apt-get install gsfonts gsfonts-x11 flashplugin-nonfree 7. Tweak your eyecandy Ubuntu 9.04 comes with compiz fusion effects OOTB but doesn’t offer a way to customize them. In a terminal copy/paste this: sudo </itunes:summary><itunes:keywords>Linux, Ubuntu</itunes:keywords>
It has become a tradition with my to do lists. Or just need to keep a tab on who enters your room while you are away? Well, all you need is a webcam, a linux PC/laptop and a twitter account. And you are set for real time updates through twitter about all that goes on at your abode behind your back (can even receive a text message/sms on your phone). Keep reading for the very simple setup you need. 1.) Download and install "motion" on your computer. For ubuntu users, this is as simple as running CODE: sudo apt-get install motion 2.) Setup your motion configuration file. (Usually at /etc/motion/motion.conf). There are quite a lot of options available. You might want to tweak it a lot according to ur needs later on but the most important ones that you can begin with are (leave the rest untouched for now): 2a.) Add/edit the option "target_dir" to point to the directory where you want to save the images of the event when motion is detected. 2b.) Add/edit the option "locate" and set it to "on" so that you get a nice square box around the detected moving object/person. 2c.) Add/edit the option "webcam_port" and set it to, say, "8000". Motion includes a mini http server so now, you can use it to view the actual images of the happening when you get the update and check for false alarms. 3.) Now, comes the most important part, about getting the update. motion has an option called "on_motion_detected" and here you can specify any command or program that you want to run when motion is detected. To get the update on your twitter account, use one of the following three methods with this option. 3a.) Using curl. If you have curl installed in your system, then you can use the following value for the on_motion_detected option: CODE: curl -u yourusername:yourpassword -d status=”Motion Detected! Check Immediately” https://twitter.com/statuses/update.xml&nbsp; 3b.) Using wget. If you don't have curl, you can even use wget for this. Use the following value: CODE: wget -O - --user=YOURUSERNAME --password=YOURPASSWORD --post-data=”status=Motion Detected! Check Immediately” https://twitter.com/statuses/update.xml&nbsp; 3c.) Using my perl script. If you don't have curl as well as wget, you can even use my perl script (attached below) for this. The value will now be: CODE: /path/to/script/twitter.pl "Motion Detected! Check Immediately" &nbsp; 4) Now connect your webcam and start motion (Just type "motion" on command line and press enter). Wait for someone to break in, or just roam around in front of the camera yourself and have fun as you receive a message on your phone about the "motion". PS: For receiving a text message on your phone, you'll need to turn on the "Device Updates" option in your twitter account, otherwise you need to open the twitter web page to check the status. The script: Twitter Updating Perl Script Let me know if you put this to some other exciting uses or have any questions about the method described above.</itunes:summary><itunes:keywords>Webcam, Security, Linux, Ubuntu</itunes:keywords>
Worried about someone breaking into your house in your absence? Or just need to keep a tab on who enters your room while you are away? Well, all you need is a webcam, a linux PC/laptop and a twitter account. And you are set for real time updates through twitter about all that goes on at your abode behind your back (can even receive a text message/sms on your phone). Keep reading for the very simple setup you need. 1.) Download and install "motion" on your computer. For ubuntu users, this is as simple as running PLAIN TEXT&nbsp;CODE: sudo apt-get install motion 2.) Setup your motion configuration file. If you have curl installed in your system, then you can use the following value for the on_motion_detected option: PLAIN TEXT&nbsp;CODE: curl -u yourusername:yourpassword -d status=”Motion Detected! Check Immediately” https://twitter.com/statuses/update.xml 3b.) Using wget. If you don't have curl, you can even use wget for this. Use the following value: PLAIN TEXT&nbsp;CODE: wget -O - --user=YOURUSERNAME --password=YOURPASSWORD --post-data=”status=Motion Detected! Check Immediately” https://twitter.com/statuses/update.xml 3c.) Using my perl script. If you don't have curl as well as wget, you can even use my perl script (attached below) for this. The value will now be: PLAIN TEXT&nbsp;CODE: /path/to/script/twitter.pl "Motion Detected! Check Immediately" 4) Now connect your webcam and start motion (Just type "motion" on command line and press enter). The script: Twitter Updating Perl Script Let me know if you put this to some other exciting uses or have any questions about the method described above. </itunes:summary>
Worried about someone breaking into your house in your absence? <li><a href="http://xtremediary.blogspot.com/2010/02/how-to-login-windows-vista-without.html">How to login Windows Vista without the password | Xtreme Diary</a><br/>
Forgot your Windows Vista password, can’t login the OS, worry about the data in the installation drive, all in all feel in crisis? Take it easy to follow the steps below to remove the password and enter Vista easily. When you boot the computer and start Windows Vista, the OS will automatically run a component called “Easily Visit” on the user’s login interface. Replace the “Easily Visit” component by using the CMD.exe command prompt. And then you are able to enter the Vista.</li>
<li><a href="http://xtremediary.blogspot.com/2010/02/how-to-recover-and-reset-password-in.html">How to Recover and Reset Password in windows 7/Vista/XP/2003/2K/NT for ...</a><br/>
The first thing which you check if you forget login password. When we install Windows, it automatically creates an account Administrator and sets its password to blank. So if you have forget your user account password then try this: Start system and when you see Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys twice and it’ll show Classic Login box. Now type Administrator (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows. Now you can reset your account password from Control Panel -&gt; User Accounts. Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.</li>
