Nikola Tesla (10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943) was a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, physicist, and futurist best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electrical supply system.

Tesla started working in the telephony and electrical fields before emigrating to the United States in 1884 to work for Thomas Edison. He soon struck out on his own with financial backers, setting up laboratories/companies to develop a range of electrical devices. His patented AC induction motor and transformer were licensed by George Westinghouse, who also hired Tesla as a consultant to help develop an alternating current system. Tesla is also known for his high-voltage, high-frequency power experiments in New York and Colorado Springs which included patented devices and theoretical work used in the invention of radio communication, for his X-ray experiments, and for his ill-fated attempt at intercontinental wireless transmission in his unfinished Wardenclyffe Tower project.

Tesla's achievements and his abilities as a showman demonstrating his seemingly miraculous inventions made him world-famous. Although he made a great deal of money from his patents, he spent a lot on numerous experiments over the years.

With over 700 patents to his name. Nikola Tesla was a remarkable inventor, his dream was to provide people around the world with free, abundant electricity for everyone.

One of the United States Department of Defense's intensified efforts have resulted in direct action involving the testing, building and deployment of the European Missile Defense System or Electromagnetic Defense HAARP System.

The U.S. collaborated with UN & NATO forces to create the European Defense System, some aspects such as the facility in Alaska has been up and running since the 1990's.

The map below represents the locations of some of the HAARP facilities including the some of the countries involved.

The map also shows one of Russia's Anti Shield HAARP locations, which is also listed as a Missile defense system. This suggests that all of them have the capability to "alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves."

Be a Superhero! Grow your own Victory Garden.

You've probably heard the phrase; "You too, can be a Superhero!"

Well... Its true. You can!

Perhaps not the type you read in comic books, or in the image above, but with the increased price of food and the lack of information regarding labeling of the foods we buy from the grocery store; it makes sense to grow your own food naturally, from Non GMO, Heirloom Seeds.

The Hero aspect comes from the fact that; if you have a lawn, you can convert it to grow food and be able to provide healthy food for yourself, your family and share what you grow with your friends and neighbors.

They will Love you for it, and you will feel healthier too.

It also means you have more Independence, because when you grow your own food, you are taking action to become more self-sufficient.

I understand this wont work for everyone due to one's available time, location, or year round climate. But don't give up before you start. Even if you live in an area that is colder. You can still grow your own food year round, but you will have to build a greenhouse to accommodate the plants and provide your garden with shelter from the cold and snow.

The video shown here is a bit of a flashback from the 40's and was used by the U.S. Government to promote the planting of Victory Gardens.

Despite the videos age, the information it contains is still relevant and if you're wanting to grow your own Victory Garden, it offers some helpful tips. Some of these tips include when to plant seeds, how to plant the seeds, types of crops to grow and shows you how to fend off pests from eating your plants and spoiling your harvest.

The image below is from the same era as the video above; but, the information is still helpful and rotating your crops every year is the best way to grow healthy food without stripping the soil of its healthy minerals.

Another helpful tip that isn't in the video above, is to build a small compost area in the far corner of your garden. Composting your food scraps and spoiled food will allow you to fertilize your soil and give your gardens fruits and vegetables even more healthy nutrients.

If you're inspired to grow your own garden, Go for it!

Gather the information you need to start your own Victory Garden from the library, or from a good online source. Ask people in your community that garden for their help or advice, order heirloom seeds from a reputable source and give it a try!

1) Pop is sweetened by either Aspartame; which is a toxic, poisonous chemical that is known to cause Cancer: or sweetened with High Fructose Corn Syrup. High Fructose Corn Syrup is now created in mass mainly from GMO corn. This is also extremely bad for your health and is also extremely toxic. By not supporting the pop industry also means you are taking a stand against Monsanto's GMO corn.

2) Each Can of Pop has on average 10-15 teaspoons of High Fructose Corn Syrup. This massive amount of sugar leads to numerous health problems including: Obesity and Diabetes - So banning pop from your diet also means that you are taking a stand against Pharmaceutical companies that profit from the problems that drinking pop helps create.

3) The brown chemical food coloring in “Coca Cola” and “Pepsi” is a carcinogen that can cause lung cancer, liver cancer, thyroid cancer, and leukemia.

4) The United States government gives Coke and Pepsi multi Billion Dollar Subsidies each year. It is immoral for our government to support an unhealthy industry that doesn't need our money and earns Trillions of dollars a year. This means that when you buy a pop from the store you are buying that can of pop twice. Once with your tax money because the government gave Coke and Pepsi money to produce it, and again when you purchase it from the store.

5) Banning Pop from your diet will help shed light on the subject that GMO seeds and their internal Pesticides, Fungicides and Herbicides, kill Bees. This GMO Corn by Monsanto & Dow Agrosciences; also contains Clothianidine, which was created by Bayer Crop Science; Clothianidine, poisons bees as they pollinate and is also responsible for colony collapse disorder. Saving the bees from extinction, can be done, and it can start with you making a decision not to buy Pop.

This will send Coke, Pepsi, Monsanto, Dow, Bayer, their Investors as well as the EPA and all other Government representatives. That these toxic, unhealthy, genetically modified products are not wanted, and it will force them to make the ethical, responsible and essential changes needed if they want to continue to do business and or keep their jobs, because they are responsible and they should be held accountable.

This means you as a person, can make a powerful statement by Voting with Your Dollar.

2) If you are a Farmer, Refuse to Plant GMO Seeds, and Refuse to Grow GMO Corn and all other GMO Products!

3) If you are a Company (Ex: Coke & Pepsi) Refuse to use GMO and Cancer causing chemical Ingredients.

4) Look at the ingredients and make a conscious, informed, and educated decision. If food and drinks are not labeled in your country, Demand your government representatives to lobby for you and help you make labeling and warnings mandatory. Do your research and show them the evidence supporting it.

5) My new years resolution was to eliminate pop from my diet, especially Coke and Pepsi!

As of January. 13th/2012! I am now 13 days pop free and the sugar cravings are gone.

I have lost 10 lbs of body fat, I feel healthier and my energy level has increased. I replaced the pop with real, unsweetened fruit juice, tea or water; and I eat more small meals through the day to keep my blood sugar and energy level steady.

I strongly encourage you to take on the challenge of eliminating pop from your diet too.

Who Killed the Air Powered Car?

It was back in the year 2000 when I first heard of the Air-Car. At the time, I thought the Air-Car was cutting edge technology, finally a replacement for the antiquated combustion engine had arrived.

A few years later I learned that the original Air-Car was invented back in 1932, but back then, people were told that it couldn’t compete with gas powered vehicles, so it was shelved and never produced.

At the time the competition would have been the big three; Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Chrysler.

The Ford Motor Company was the biggest adversary of both the Electric Car and the Air Car.

Why? Conflict of interest, money, power and a monopoly was at stake, they squashed those that wanted to develop and sell vehicles using alternative energy technology.

To explain in more detail, Henry Ford's "Ford Motor Company" was a subsidiary of John D.Rockefeller's "Standard Oil Company". On top of that! Thomas Edison, who worked for Rockefeller and J.P. Morgan encouraged Henry Ford to build gas powered vehicles. Henry Ford Unmasked at Last!

At this point it looks like Big Oil and the Big Three American Motor companies have again positioned themselves against TATA Motors and MDI to again crush the Air-Car in any part of North America.

Does this mean that the Air-Car will be suppressed again?

Only time will tell...

Perhaps their is Hope for the Air-Car to see the light of day, for Toyota and Honda have entered into the fold, to develop their own Air Powered Cars as well.

Method and apparatus for altering a region in the earth's atmosphere, ionosphere, and/or magnetosphere.

Abstract

A method and apparatus for altering at least one selected region which normally exists above the earth's surface. The region is excited by electron cyclotron resonance heating to thereby increase its charged particle density. In one embodiment, circularly polarized electromagnetic radiation is transmitted upward in a direction substantially parallel to and along a field line which extends through the region of plasma to be altered. The radiation is transmitted at a frequency which excites electron cyclotron resonance to heat and accelerate the charged particles. This increase in energy can cause ionization of neutral particles which are then absorbed as part of the region thereby increasing the charged particle density of the region.

Claims

I claim:

1. A method for altering at least one region normally existing above the earth's surface with electromagnetic radiation using naturally-occurring and diverging magnetic field lines of the earth comprising transmitting first electromagnetic radiation at a frequency between 20 and 7200 kHz from the earth's surface, said transmitting being conducted essentially at the outset of transmission substantially parallel to and along at least one of said field lines, adjusting the frequency of said first radiation to a value which will excite electron cyclotron resonance at an initial elevation at least 50 km above the earth's surface, whereby in the region in which said electron cyclotron resonance takes place heating, further ionization, and movement of both charged and neutral particles is effected, said cyclotron resonance excitation of said region is continued until the electron concentration of said region reaches a value of at least 10.sup.6 per cubic centimeter and has an ion energy of at least 2 ev.

2. The method of claim 1 including the step of providing artificial particles in said at least one region which are excited by said electron cyclotron resonance.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein said artificial particles are provided by injecting same into said at least one region from an orbiting satellite.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein said threshold excitation of electron cyclotron resonance is about 1 watt per cubic centimeter and is sufficient to cause movement of a plasma region along said diverging magnetic field lines to an altitude higher than the altitude at which said excitation was initiated.

5. The method of claim 4 wherein said rising plasma region pulls with it a substantial portion of neutral particles of the atmosphere which exist in or near said plasma region.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein there is provided at least one separate source of second electromagnetic radiation, said second radiation having at least one frequency different from said first radiation, impinging said at least one second radiation on said region while said region is undergoing electron cyclotron resonance excitation caused by said first radiation.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein said second radiation has a frequency which is absorbed by said region.

8. The method of claim 6 wherein said region is plasma in the ionosphere and said second radiation excites plasma waves within said ionosphere.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein said electron concentration reaches a value of at least 10.sup.12 per cubic centimeter.

10. The method of claim 8 wherein said excitation of electron cyclotron resonance is initially carried out within the ionosphere and is continued for a time sufficient to allow said region to rise above said ionosphere.

11. The method of claim 1 wherein said excitation of electron cyclotron resonance is carried out above about 500 kilometers and for a time of from 0.1 to 1200 seconds such that multiple heating of said plasma region is achieved by means of stochastic heating in the magnetosphere.

12. The method of claim 1 wherein said first electromagnetic radiation is right hand circularly polarized in the northern hemisphere and left hand circularly polarized in the southern hemisphere.

13. The method of claim 1 wherein said electromagnetic radiation is generated at the site of a naturally-occurring hydrocarbon fuel source, said fuel source being located in at least one of northerly or southerly magnetic latitudes.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein said fuel source is natural gas and electricity for generating said electromagnetic radiation is obtained by burning said natural gas in at least one of magnetohydrodynamic, gas turbine, fuel cell, and EGD electric generators located at the site where said natural gas naturally occurs in the earth.

15. The method of claim 14 wherein said site of natural gas is within the magnetic latitudes that encompass Alaska.

DESCRIPTION

1. Technical Field

This invention relates to a method and apparatus for altering at least one selected region normally existing above the earth's surface and more particularly relates to a method and apparatus for altering said at least one region by initially transmitting electromagnetic radiation from the earth's surface essentially parallel to and along naturally-occurring, divergent magnetic field lines which extend from the earth's surface through the region or regions to be altered.

2. Background Art

In the late 1950's, it was discovered that naturally-occuring belts exist at high altitudes above the earth's surface, and it is now established that these belts result from charged electrons and ions becoming trapped along the magnetic lines of force (field lines) of the earth's essentially dipole magnetic field. The trapped electrons and ions are confined along the field lines between two magnetic mirrors which exist at spaced apart points along those field lines. The trapped electrons and ions move in helical paths around their particular field lines and "bounce" back and forth between the magnetic mirrors. These trapped electrons and ions can oscillate along the field lines for long periods of time.

In the past several years, substantial effort has been made to understand and explain the phenomena involved in belts of trapped electrons and ions, and to explore possible ways to control and use these phenomena for beneficial purposes. For example, in the late 1950's and early 1960's both the United States and U.S.S.R. detonated a series of nuclear devices of various yields to generate large numbers of charged particles at various altitudes, e.g., 200 kilometers (km) or greater. This was done in order to establish and study artifical belts of trapped electrons and ions. These experiments established that at least some of the extraneous electrons and ions from the detonated devices did become trapped along field lines in the earth's magnetosphere to form artificial belts which were stable for prolonged periods of time. For a discussion of these experiments see "The Radiation Belt and Magnetosphere", W. N. Hess, Blaisdell Publishing Co., 1968, pps. 155 et sec.

Other proposals which have been advanced for altering existing belts of trapped electrons and ions and/or establishing similar artificial belts include injecting charged particles from a satellite carrying a payload of radioactive beta-decay material or alpha emitters; and injecting charged particles from a satellite-borne electron accelerator. Still another approach is described in U.S. Pat. No. 4,042,196 wherein a low energy ionized gas, e.g., hydrogen, is released from a synchronous orbiting satellite near the apex of a radiation belt which is naturally-occurring in the earth's magnetosphere to produce a substantial increase in energetic particle precipitation and, under certain conditions, produce a limit in the number of particles that can be stably trapped. This precipitation effect arises from an enhancement of the whistler-mode and ion-cyclotron mode interactions that result from the ionized gas or "cold plasma" injection.

It has also been proposed to release large clouds of barium in the magnetosphere so that photoionization will increase the cold plasma density, thereby producing electron precipitation through enhanced whistler-mode interactions.

However, in all of the above-mentioned approaches, the mechanisms involved in triggering the change in the trapped particle phenomena must be actually positioned within the affected zone, e.g., the magnetosphere, before they can be actuated to effect the desired change.

The earth's ionosphere is not considered to be a "trapped" belt since there are few trapped particles therein. The term "trapped" herein refers to situations where the force of gravity on the trapped particles is balanced by magnetic forces rather than hydrostatic or collisional forces. The charged electrons and ions in the ionosphere also follow helical paths around magnetic field lines within the ionosphere but are not trapped between mirrors, as in the case of the trapped belts in the magnetosphere, since the gravitational force on the particles is balanced by collisional or hydrostatic forces.

In recent years, a number of experiments have actually been carried out to modify the ionosphere in some controlled manner to investigate the possibility of a beneficial result. For detailed discussions of these operations see the following papers: (1) Ionospheric Modification Theory; G. Meltz and F. W. Perkins; (2) The Platteville High Power Facility; Carrol et al.; (3) Arecibo Heating Experiments; W. E. Gordon and H. C. Carlson, Jr.; and (4) Ionospheric Heating by Powerful Radio Waves; Meltz et al., all published in Radio Science, Vol. 9, No. 11, November, 1974, at pages 885-888; 889-894; 1041-1047; and 1049-1063, respectively, all of which are incorporated herein by reference. In such experiments, certain regions of the ionosphere are heated to change the electron density and temperature within these regions. This is accomplished by transmitting from earth-based antennae high frequency electromagnetic radiation at a substantial angle to, not parallel to, the ionosphere's magnetic field to heat the ionospheric particles primarily by ohmic heating. The electron temperature of the ionosphere has been raised by hundreds of degrees in these experiments, and electrons with several electron volts of energy have been produced in numbers sufficient to enhance airglow. Electron concentrations have been reduced by a few percent, due to expansion of the plasma as a result of increased temperature.

In the Elmo Bumpy Torus (EBT), a controlled fusion device at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, all heating is provided by microwaves at the electron cyclotron resonance interaction. A ring of hot electrons is formed at the earth's surface in the magnetic mirror by a combination of electron cyclotron resonance and stochastic heating. In the EBT, the ring electrons are produced with an average "temperature" of 250 kilo electron volts or kev (2.5.times.10.sup.9 K) and a plasma beta between 0.1 and 0.4; see, "A Theoretical Study of Electron--Cyclotron Absorption in Elmo Bumpy Torus", Batchelor and Goldfinger, Nuclear Fusion, Vol. 20, No. 4 (1980) pps. 403-418.

Electron cyclotron resonance heating has been used in experiments on the earth's surface to produce and accelerate plasmas in a diverging magnetic field. Kosmahl et al. showed that power was transferred from the electromagnetic waves and that a fully ionized plasma was accelerated with a divergence angle of roughly 13 degrees. Optimum neutral gas density was 1.7.times.10.sup.14 per cubic centimeter; see, "Plasma Acceleration with Microwaves Near Cyclotron Resonance", Kosmahl et al., Journal of Applied Physics, Vol. 38, No. 12, Nov., 1967, pps. 4576-4582.

DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for altering at least one selected region which normally exists above the earth's surface. The region is excited by electron cyclotron resonance heating of electrons which are already present and/or artifically created in the region to thereby increase the charged particle energy and ultimately the density of the region.

In one embodiment this is done by transmitting circularly polarized electromagnetic radiation from the earth's surface at or near the location where a naturally-occurring dipole magnetic field (force) line intersects the earth's surface. Right hand circular polarization is used in the northern hemisphere and left hand circular polarization is used in the southern hemisphere. The radiation is deliberately transmitted at the outset in a direction substantially parallel to and along a field line which extends upwardly through the region to be altered. The radiation is transmitted at a frequency which is based on the gyrofrequency of the charged particles and which, when applied to the at least one region, excites electron cyclotron resonance within the region or regions to heat and accelerate the charged particles in their respective helical paths around and along the field line. Sufficient energy is employed to cause ionization of neutral particles (molecules of oxygen, nitrogen and the like, particulates, etc.) which then become a part of the region thereby increasing the charged particle density of the region. This effect can further be enhanced by providing artificial particles, e.g., electrons, ions, etc., directly into the region to be affected from a rocket, satellite, or the like to supplement the particles in the naturally-occurring plasma. These artificial particles are also ionized by the transmitted electromagnetic radiation thereby increasing charged particle density of the resulting plasma in the region.

In another embodiment of the invention, electron cyclotron resonance heating is carried out in the selected region or regions at sufficient power levels to allow a plasma present in the region to generate a mirror force which forces the charged electrons of the altered plasma upward along the force line to an altitude which is higher than the original altitude. In this case the relevant mirror points are at the base of the altered region or regions. The charged electrons drag ions with them as well as other particles that may be present. Sufficient power, e.g., 10.sup.15 joules, can be applied so that the altered plasma can be trapped on the field line between mirror points and will oscillate in space for prolonged periods of time. By this embodiment, a plume of altered plasma can be established at selected locations for communication modification or other purposes.

In another embodiment, this invention is used to alter at least one selected region of plasma in the ionosphere to establish a defined layer of plasma having an increased charged particle density. Once this layer is established, and while maintaining the transmission of the main beam of circularly polarized electromagnetic radiation, the main beam is modulated and/or at least one second different, modulated electromagnetic radiation beam is transmitted from at least one separate source at a different frequency which will be absorbed in the plasma layer. The amplitude of the frequency of the main beam and/or the second beam or beams is modulated in resonance with at least one known oscillation mode in the selected region or regions to excite the known oscillation mode to propagate a known frequency wave or waves throughout the ionosphere.

BEST MODES FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

The earth's magnetic field is somewhat analogous to a dipole bar magnet. As such, the earth's magnetic field contains numerous divergent field or force lines, each line intersecting the earth's surface at points on opposite sides of the Equator. The field lines which intersect the earth's surface near the poles have apexes which lie at the furthest points in the earth's magnetosphere while those closest to the Equator have apexes which reach only the lower portion of the magnetosphere.

At various altitudes above the earth's surface, e.g., in both the ionosphere and the magnetosphere, plasma is naturally present along these field lines. This plasma consists of equal numbers of positively and negatively charged particles (i.e., electrons and ions) which are guided by the field line. It is well established that a charged particle in a magnetic field gyrates about field lines, the center of gyration at any instance being called the "guiding center" of the particle. As the gyrating particle moves along a field line in a uniform field, it will follow a helical path about its guiding center, hence linear motion, and will remain on the field line. Electrons and ions both follow helical paths around a field line but rotate in opposite directions. The frequencies at which the electrons and ions rotate about the field line are called gyromagnetic frequencies or cyclotron frequencies because they are identical with the expression for the angular frequencies of gyration of particles in a cyclotron. The cyclotron frequency of ions in a given magnetic field is less than that of electrons, in inverse proportion to their masses.

If the particles which form the plasma along the earth's field lines continued to move with a constant pitch angle, often designated "alpha", they would soon impact on the earth's surface. Pitch angle alpha is defined as the angle between the direction of the earth's magnetic field and the velocity (V) of the particle. However, in converging force fields, the pitch angle does change in such a way as to allow the particle to turn around and avoid impact. Consider a particle moving along a field line down toward the earth. It moves into a region of increasing magnetic field strength and therefore sine alpha increases. But sine alpha can only increase to 1.0, at which point, the particle turns around and starts moving up along the field line, and alpha decreases. The point at which the particle turns around is called the mirror point, and there alpha equals ninety degrees. This process is repeated at the other end of the field line where the same magnetic field strength value B, namely Bm, exists. The particle again turns around and this is called the "conjugate point" of the original mirror point. The particle is therefore trapped and bounces between the two magnetic mirrors. The particle can continue oscillating in space in this manner for long periods of time. The actual place where a particle will mirror can be calculated from the following:

Recent discoveries have established that there are substantial regions of naturally trapped particles in space which are commonly called "trapped radiation belts". These belts occur at altitudes greater than about 500 km and accordingly lie in the magnetosphere and mostly above the ionosphere.

The ionosphere, while it may overlap some of the trapped-particle belts, is a region in which hydrostatic forces govern its particle distribution in the gravitational field. Particle motion within the ionosphere is governed by both hydrodynamic and electrodynamic forces. While there are few trapped particles in the ionosphere, nevertheless, plasma is present along field lines in the ionosphere. The charged particles which form this plasma move between collisions with other particles along similar helical paths around the field lines and although a particular particle may diffuse downward into the earth's lower atmosphere or lose energy and diverge from its original field line due to collisions with other particles, these charged particles are normally replaced by other available charged particles or by particles that are ionized by collision with said particle. The electron density (N.sub.e) of the plasma will vary with the actual conditions and locations involved. Also, neutral particles, ions, and electrons are present in proximity to the field lines.

The production of enhanced ionization will also alter the distribution of atomic and molecular constituents of the atmosphere, most notably through increased atomic nitrogen concentration. The upper atmosphere is normally rich in atomic oxygen (the dominant atmospheric constituent above 200 km altitude), but atomic nitrogen is normally relatively rare. This can be expected to manifest itself in increased airglow, among other effects.

As known in plasma physics, the characteristics of a plasma can be altered by adding energy to the charged particles or by ionizing or exciting additional particles to increase the density of the plasma. One way to do this is by heating the plasma which can be accomplished in different ways, e.g., ohmic, magnetic compression, shock waves, magnetic pumping, electron cyclotron resonance, and the like.

Since electron cyclotron resonance heating is involved in the present invention, a brief discussion of same is in order. Increasing the energy of electrons in a plasma by invoking electron cyclotron resonance heating, is based on a principle similar to that utilized to accelerate charged particles in a cyclotron. If a plasma is confined by a static axial magnetic field of strength B, the charged particles will gyrate about the lines of force with a frequency given, in hertz, as f.sub.g =1.54.times.10.sup.3 B/A, where: B=magnetic field strength in gauss, and A=mass number of the ion.

Suppose a time-varying field of this frequency is superimposed on the static field B confining the plasma, by passage of a radiofrequency current through a coil which is concentric with that producing the axial field, then in each half-cycle of their rotation about the field lines, the charged particles acquire energy from the oscillating electric field associated with the radio frequency. For example, if B is 10,000 gauss, the frequency of the field which is in resonance with protons in a plasma is 15.4 megahertz.

As applied to electrons, electron cyclotron resonance heating requires an oscillating field having a definite frequency determined by the strength of the confining field. The radio-frequency radiation produces time-varying fields (electric and magnetic), and the electric field accelerates the charged particle. The energized electrons share their energy with ions and neutrals by undergoing collisions with these particles, thereby effectively raising the temperature of the electrons, ions, and neutrals. The apportionment of energy among these species is determined by collision frequencies. For a more detailed understanding of the physics involved, see "Controlled Thermonuclear Reactions", Glasstone and Lovberg, D. Van Nostrand Company, Inc., Princeton, N.J., 1960 and "The Radiation Belt and Magnetosphere", Hess, Blaisdell Publishing Company, 1968, both of which are incorporated herein by reference.

Referring now to the drawings, the present invention provides a method and apparatus for altering at least one region of plasma which lies along a field line, particularly when it passes through the ionosphere and/or magnetosphere. FIG. 1 is a simplified illustration of the earth 10 and one of its dipole magnetic force or field lines 11. As will be understood, line 11 may be any one of the numerous naturally existing field lines and the actual geographical locations 13 and 14 of line 11 will be chosen based on a particular operation to be carried out. The actual locations at which field lines intersect the earth's surface is documented and is readily ascertainable by those skilled in the art.

Line 11 passes through region R which lies at an altitude above the earth's surface. A wide range of altitudes are useful given the power that can be employed by the practice of this invention. The electron cyclotron resonance heating effect can be made to act on electrons anywhere above the surface of the earth. These electrons may be already present in the atmosphere, ionosphere, and/or magnetosphere of the earth, or can be artificially generated by a variety of means such as x-ray beams, charged particle beams, lasers, the plasma sheath surrounding an object such as a missile or meteor, and the like. Further, artificial particles, e.g., electrons, ions, etc., can be injected directly into region R from an earth-launched rocket or orbiting satellite carrying, for example, a payload of radioactive beta-decay material; alpha emitters; an electron accelerator; and/or ionized gases such as hydrogen; see U.S. Pat. No. 4,042,196. The altitude can be greater than about 50 km if desired, e.g., can be from about 50 km to about 800 km, and, accordingly may lie in either the ionosphere or the magnetosphere or both. As explained above, plasma will be present along line 11 within region R and is represented by the helical line 12. Plasma 12 is comprised of charged particles (i.e., electrons and ions) which rotate about opposing helical paths along line 11.

Antenna 15 is positioned as close as is practical to the location 14 where line 11 intersects the earth's surface. Antenna 15 may be of any known construction for high directionality, for example, a phased array, beam spread angle (.theta.) type. See "The MST Radar at Poker Flat, Alaska", Radio Science, Vol. 15, No. 2, Mar.-Apr. 1980, pps. 213-223, which is incorporated herein by reference. Antenna 15 is coupled to transmitter 16 which generates a beam of high frequency electromagnetic radiation at a wide range of discrete frequencies, e.g., from about 20 to about 1800 kilohertz (kHz).

Transmitter 16 is powered by power generator means 17 which is preferably comprised of one or more large, commercial electrical generators. Some embodiments of the present invention require large amounts of power, e.g., up to 10.sup.9 to 10.sup.11 watts, in continuous wave or pulsed power. Generation of the needed power is within the state of the art. Although the electrical generators necessary for the practice of the invention can be powered in any known manner, for example, by nuclear reactors, hydroelectric facilities, hydrocarbon fuels, and the like, this invention, because of its very large power requirement in certain applications, is particularly adapted for use with certain types of fuel sources which naturally occur at strategic geographical locations around the earth. For example, large reserves of hydrocarbons (oil and natural gas) exist in Alaska and Canada. In northern Alaska, particularly the North Slope region, large reserves are currently readily available. Alaska and northern Canada also are ideally located geographically as to magnetic latitudes. Alaska provides easy access to magnetic field lines that are especially suited to the practice of this invention, since many field lines which extend to desirable altitudes for this invention intersect the earth in Alaska. Thus, in Alaska, there is a unique combination of large, accessible fuel sources at desirable field line intersections. Further, a particularly desirable fuel source for the generation of very large amounts of electricity is present in Alaska in abundance, this source being natural gas. The presence of very large amounts of clean-burning natural gas in Alaskan latitudes, particularly on the North Slope, and the availability of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD), gas turbine, fuel cell, electrogasdynamic (EGD) electric generators which operate very efficiently with natural gas provide an ideal power source for the unprecedented power requirements of certain of the applications of this invention. For a more detailed discussion of the various means for generating electricity from hydrocarbon fuels, see "Electrical Aspects of Combustion", Lawton and Weinberg, Clarendon Press, 1969. For example, it is possible to generate the electricity directly at the high frequency needed to drive the antenna system. To do this, typically the velocity of flow of the combustion gases (v), past magnetic field perturbation of dimension d (in the case of MHD), follow the rule:

where f is the frequency at which electricity is generated. Thus, if v=1.78.times.10.sup.6 cm/sec and d=1 cm then electricity would be generated at a frequency of 1.78 mHz.

Put another way, in Alaska, the right type of fuel (natural gas) is naturally present in large amounts and at just the right magnetic latitudes for the most efficient practice of this invention, a truly unique combination of circumstances. Desirable magnetic latitudes for the practice of this invention interest the earth's surface both northerly and southerly of the equator, particularly desirable latitudes being those, both northerly and southerly, which correspond in magnitude with the magnetic latitudes that encompass Alaska.

Referring now to FIG. 2 a first ambodiment is illustrated where a selected region R.sub.1 of plasma 12 is altered by electron cyclotron resonance heating to accelerate the electrons of plasma 12, which are following helical paths along field line 11.

To accomplish this result, electromagnetic radiation is transmitted at the outset, essentially parallel to line 11 via antenna 15 as right hand circularly polarized radiation wave 20. Wave 20 has a frequency which will excite electron cyclotron resonance with plasma 12 at its initial or original altitude. This frequency will vary depending on the electron cyclotron resonance of region R.sub.1 which, in turn, can be determined from available data based on the altitudes of region R.sub.1, the particular field line 11 being used, the strength of the earth's magnetic field, etc. Frequencies of from about 20 to about 7200 kHz, preferably from about 20 to about 1800 kHz can be employed. Also, for any given application, there will be a threshhold (minimum power level) which is needed to produce the desired result. The minimum power level is a function of the level of plasma production and movement required, taking into consideration any loss processes that may be dominant in a particular plasma or propagation path.

As electron cyclotron resonance is established in plasma 12, energy is transferred from the electromagnetic radiation 20 into plasma 12 to heat and accelerate the electrons therein and, subsequently, ions and neutral particles. As this process continues, neutral particles which are present within R.sub.1 are ionized and absorbed into plasma 12 and this increases the electron and ion densities of plasma 12. As the electron energy is raised to values of about 1 kilo electron volt (kev), the generated mirror force (explained below) will direct the excited plasma 12 upward along line 11 to form a plume R.sub.2 at an altitude higher than that of R.sub.1.

Plasma acceleration results from the force on an electron produced by a nonuniform static magnetic field (B). The force, called the mirror force, is given by

where .mu. is the electron magnetic moment and .gradient. B is the gradient of the magnetic field, .mu. being further defined as:

where W.sub..perp. is the kinetic energy in the direction perpendicular to that of the magnetic field lines and B is the magnetic field strength at the line of force on which the guiding center of the particle is located. The force as represented by equation (2) is the force which is responsible for a particle obeying equation (1).

Since the magnetic field is divergent in region R.sub.1, it can be shown that the plasma will move upwardly from the heating region as shown in FIG. 1 and further it can be shown that

where the left hand side is the initial electron transverse kinetic energy; the first term on the right is the transverse electron kinetic energy at some point (Y) in the expanded field region, while the final term is the ion kinetic energy parallel to B at point (Y). This last term is what constitutes the desired ion flow. It is produced by an electrostatic field set up by electrons which are accelerated according to Equation (2) in the divergent field region and pulls ions along with them. Equation (3) ignores electron kinetic energy parallel to B because V.sub.e.parallel. .apprxeq.V.sub.i.parallel., so the bulk of parallel kinetic energy resides in the ions because of their greater masses. For example, if an electromagnetic energy flux of from about 1 to about 10 watts per square centimeter is applied to region R, whose altitude is 115 km, a plasma having a density (N.sub.e) of 10.sup.12 per cubic centimeter will be generated and moved upward to region R.sub.2 which has an altitude of about 1000 km. The movement of electrons in the plasma is due to the mirror force while the ions are moved by ambipolar diffusion (which results from the electrostatic field). This effectively "lifts" a layer of plasma 12 from the ionosphere and/or magnetosphere to a higher elevation R.sub.2. The total energy required to create a plasma with a base area of 3 square kilometers and a height of 1000 km is about 3.times.10.sup.13 joules.

FIG. 3 is an idealized representation of movement of plasma 12 upon excitation by electron cyclotron resonance within the earth's divergent force field. Electrons (e) are accelerated to velocities required to generate the necessary mirror force to cause their upward movement. At the same time neutral particles (n) which are present along line 11 in region R.sub.1 are ionized and become part of plasma 12. As electrons (e) move upward along line 11, they drag ions (i) and neutrals (n) with them but at an angle .theta. of about 13 degrees to field line 11. Also, any particulates that may be present in region R.sub.1, will be swept upwardly with the plasma. As the charged particles of plasma 12 move upward, other particles such as neutrals within or below R.sub.1, move in to replace the upwardly moving particles. These neutrals, under some conditions, can drag with them charged particles.

For example, as a plasma moves upward, other particles at the same altitude as the plasma move horizontally into the region to replace the rising plasma and to form new plasma. The kinetic energy developed by said other particles as they move horizontally is, for example, on the same order of magnitude as the total zonal kinetic energy of stratospheric winds known to exist.

Referring again to FIG. 2, plasma 12 in region R.sub.1 is moved upward along field line 11. The plasma 12 will then form a plume (cross-hatched area in FIG. 2) which will be relatively stable for prolonged periods of time. The exact period of time will vary widely and be determined by gravitational forces and a combination of radiative and diffusive loss terms. In the previous detailed example, the calculations were based on forming a plume by producing 0.sup.+ energies of 2 ev/particle. About 10 ev per particle would be required to expand plasma 12 to apex point C (FIG. 1). There at least some of the particles of plasma 12 will be trapped and will oscillate between mirror points along field line 11. This oscillation will then allow additional heating of the trapped plasma 12 by stochastic heating which is associated with trapped and oscillating particles. See "A New Mechanism for Accelerating Electrons in the Outer Ionosphere" by R. A. Helliwell and T. F. Bell, Journal of Geophysical Research, Vol. 65, No. 6, June, 1960. This is preferably carried out at an altitude of at least 500 km.

The plasma of the typical example might be employed to modify or disrupt microwave transmissions of satellites. If less than total black-out of transmission is desired (e.g., scrambling by phase shifting digital signals), the density of the plasma (N.sub.e) need only be at least about 10.sup.6 per cubic centimeter for a plasma orginating at an altitude of from about 250 to about 400 km and accordingly less energy (i.e., electromagnetic radiation), e.g., 10.sup.8 joules need be provided. Likewise, if the density N.sub.e is on the order of 10.sup.8, a properly positioned plume will provide a reflecting surface for VHF waves and can be used to enhance, interfere with, or otherwise modify communication transmissions. It can be seen from the foregoing that by appropriate application of various aspects of this invention at strategic locations and with adequate power sources, a means and method is provided to cause interference with or even total disruption of communications over a very large portion of the earth. This invention could be employed to disrupt not only land based communications, both civilian and military, but also airborne communications and sea communications (both surface and subsurface). This would have significant military implications, particularly as a barrier to or confusing factor for hostile missiles or airplanes. The belt or belts of enhanced ionization produced by the method and apparatus of this invention, particularly if set up over Northern Alaska and Canada, could be employed as an early warning device, as well as a communications disruption medium. Further, the simple ability to produce such a situation in a practical time period can by itself be a deterring force to hostile action. The ideal combination of suitable field lines intersecting the earth's surface at the point where substantial fuel sources are available for generation of very large quantitities of electromagnetic power, such as the North Slope of Alaska, provides the wherewithal to accomplish the foregoing in a practical time period, e.g., strategic requirements could necessitate achieving the desired altered regions in time periods of two minutes or less and this is achievable with this invention, especially when the combination of natural gas and magnetohydrodynamic, gas turbine, fuel cell and/or EGD electric generators are employed at the point where the useful field lines intersect the earth's surface. One feature of this invention which satisfies a basic requirement of a weapon system, i.e., continuous checking of operability, is that small amounts of power can be generated for operability checking purposes. Further, in the exploitation of this invention, since the main electromagnetic beam which generates the enhanced ionized belt of this invention can be modulated itself and/or one or more additional electromagnetic radiation waves can be impinged on the ionized region formed by this invention as will be described in greater detail herein after with respect to FIG. 4, a substantial amount of randomly modulated signals of very large power magnitude can be generated in a highly nonlinear mode. This can cause confusion of or interference with or even complete disruption of guidance systems employed by even the most sophisticated of airplanes and missiles. The ability to employ and transmit over very wide areas of the earth a plurality of electromagnetic waves of varying frequencies and to change same at will in a random manner, provides a unique ability to interfere with all modes of communications, land, sea, and/or air, at the same time. Because of the unique juxtaposition of usable fuel source at the point where desirable field lines intersect the earth's surface, such wide ranging and complete communication interference can be achieved in a resonably short period of time. Because of the mirroring phenomenon discussed hereinabove, it can also be prolonged for substantial time periods so that it would not be a mere transient effect that could simply be waited out by an opposing force. Thus, this invention provides the ability to put unprecedented amounts of power in the earth's atmosphere at strategic locations and to maintain the power injection level, particularly if random pulsing is employed, in a manner far more precise and better controlled than heretofore accomplished by the prior art, particularly by the detonation of nuclear devices of various yeilds at various altitudes. Where the prior art approaches yielded merely transitory effects, the unique combination of fuel and desirable field lines at the point where the fuel occurs allows the establishment of, compared to prior art approaches, precisely controlled and long-lasting effects which cannot, practically speaking, simply be waited out. Further, by knowing the frequencies of the various electromagnetic beams employed in the practice of this invention, it is possible not only to interfere with third party communications but to take advantage of one or more such beams to carry out a communications network even though the rest of the world's communications are disrupted. Put another way, what is used to disrupt another's communications can be employed by one knowledgeable of this invention as a communications network at the same time. In addition, once one's own communication network is established, the far-reaching extent of the effects of this invention could be employed to pick up communication signals of other for intelligence purposes. Thus, it can be seen that the disrupting effects achievable by this invention can be employed to benefit by the party who is practicing this invention since knowledge of the various electromagnetic waves being employed and how they will vary in frequency and magnitude can be used to an advantage for positive communication and eavesdropping purposes at the same time. However, this invention is not limited to locations where the fuel source naturally exists or where desirable field lines naturally intersect the earth's surface. For example, fuel, particularly hydrocarbon fuel, can be transported by pipeline and the like to the location where the invention is to be practiced.

FIG. 4 illustrates another embodiment wherein a selected region of plasma R.sub.3 which lies within the earth's ionosphere is altered to increase the density thereof whereby a relatively stable layer 30 of relatively dense plasma is maintained within region R.sub.3. Electromagnetic radiation is transmitted at the outset essentially parallel to field line 11 via antenna 15 as a right hand circularly polarized wave and at a frequency (e.g., 1.78 megahertz when the magnetic field at the desired altitude is 0.66 gauss) capable of exciting electron cyclotron resonance in plasma 12 at the particular altitude of plasma 12. This causes heating of the particles (electrons, ions, neutrals, and particulates) and ionization of the uncharged particles adjacent line 11, all of which are absorbed into plasma 12 to increase the density thereof. The power transmitted, e.g., 2.times.10.sup.6 watts for up to 2 minutes heating time, is less than that required to generate the mirror force F required to move plasma 12 upward as in the previous embodiment.

While continuing to transmit electromagnetic radiation 20 from antenna 15, a second electromagnetic radiation beam 31, which is at a defined frequency different from the radiation from antenna 15, is transmitted from one or more second sources via antenna 32 into layer 30 and is absorbed into a portion of layer 30 (cross-hatched area in FIG. 4). The electromagnetic radiation wave from antenna 32 is amplitude modulated to match a known mode of oscillation f.sub.3 in layer 30. This creates a resonance in layer 30 which excites a new plasma wave 33 which also has a frequency of f.sub.3 and which then propogates through the ionosphere. Wave 33 can be used to improve or disrupt communications or both depending on what is desired in a particular application. Of course, more than one new wave 33 can be generated and the various new waves can be modulated at will and in a highly nonlinear fashion.

FIG. 5 shows apparatus useful in this invention, particularly when those applications of this invention are employed which require extremely large amounts of power. In FIG. 5 there is shown the earth's surface 40 with a well 41 extending downwardly thereinto until it penetrates hydrocarbon producing reservoir 42. Hydrocarbon reservoir 42 produces natural gas alone or in combination with crude oil. Hydrocarbons are produced from reservoir 42 through well 41 and wellhead 43 to a treating system 44 by way of pipe 45. In treater 44, desirable liquids such as crude oil and gas condensates are separated and recovered by way of pipe 46 while undesirable gases and liquids such as water, H.sub.2 S, and the like are separated by way of pipe 47. Desirable gases such as carbon dioxide are separated by way of pipe 48, and the remaining natural gas stream is removed from treater 44 by way of pipe 49 for storage in conventional tankage means (not shown) for future use and/or use in an electrical generator such as a magnetohydrodynamic, gas turbine, fuel cell or EGD generator 50. Any desired number and combination of different types of electric generators can be employed in the practice of this invention. The natural gas is burned in generator 50 to produce substantial quantities of electricity which is then stored and/or passed by way of wire 51 to a transmitter 52 which generates the electromagnetic radiation to be used in the method of this invention. The electromagnetic radiation is then passed by way of wire 53 to antenna 54 which is located at or near the end of field line 11. Antenna 54 sends circularly polarized radiation wave 20 upwards along field line 11 to carry out the various methods of this invention as described herein above.

Of course, the fuel source need not be used in its naturally-occurring state but could first be converted to another second energy source form such as hydrogen, hydrazine and the like, and electricity then generated from said second energy source form.

It can be seen from the foregoing that when desirable field line 11 intersects earth's surface 40 at or near a large naturally-occurring hydrocarbon source 42, exceedingly large amounts of power can be very efficiently produced and transmitted in the direction of field lines. This is particularly so when the fuel source is natural gas and magnetohydrodynamic generators are employed. Further, this can all be accomplished in a relatively small physical area when there is the unique coincidence of fuel source 42 and desirable field line 11. Of course, only one set of equipment is shown in FIG. 5 for sake of simplicity. For a large hydrocarbon reservoir 42, a plurality of wells 41 can be employed to feed one or more storage means and/or treaters and as large a number of generators 55 as needed to power one or more transmitters 52 and one or more antennas 54. Since all of the apparatus 44 through 54 can be employed and used essentially at the sight where naturally-occurring fuel source 42 is located, all the necessary electromagnetic radiation 20 is generated essentially at the same location as fuel source 42. This provides for a maximum amount of usable electromagnetic radiation 20 since there are no significant storage or transportation losses to be incurred. In other words, the apparatus is brought to the sight of the fuel source where desirable field line 11 intersects the earth's surface 40 on or near the geographical location of fuel source 42, fuel source 42 being at a desirable magnetic latitude for the practice of this invention, for example, Alaska.

The generation of electricity by motion of a conducting fluid through a magnetic field, i.e., magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), provides a method of electric power generation without moving mechanical parts and when the conducting fluid is a plasma formed by combustion of a fuel such as natural gas, an idealized combination of apparatus is realized since the very clean-burning natural gas forms the conducting plasma in an efficient manner and the thus formed plasma, when passed through a magnetic field, generates electricity in a very efficient manner. Thus, the use of fuel source 42 to generate a plasma by combustion thereof for the generation of electricity essentially at the site of occurrence of the fuel source is unique and ideal when high power levels are required and desirable field lines 11 intersect the earth's surface 40 at or near the site of fuel source 42. A particular advantage for MHD generators is that they can be made to generate large amounts of power with a small volume, light weight device. For example, a 1000 megawatt MHD generator can be construed using superconducting magnets to weigh roughly 42,000 pounds and can be readily air lifted.

This invention has a phenomenal variety of possible ramifications and potential future developments. As alluded to earlier, missile or aircraft destruction, deflection, or confusion could result, particularly when relativistic particles are employed. Also, large regions of the atmosphere could be lifted to an unexpectedly high altitude so that missiles encounter unexpected and unplanned drag forces with resultant destruction or deflection of same. Weather modification is possible by, for example, altering upper atmosphere wind patterns or altering solar absorption patterns by constructing one or more plumes of atmospheric particles which will act as a lens or focusing device. Also as alluded to earlier, molecular modifications of the atmosphere can take place so that positive environmental effects can be achieved. Besides actually changing the molecular composition of an atmospheric region, a particular molecule or molecules can be chosen for increased presence. For example, ozone, nitrogen, etc. concentrations in the atmosphere could be artificially increased. Similarly, environmental enhancement could be achieved by causing the breakup of various chemical entities such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrous oxides, and the like. Transportation of entities can also be realized when advantage is taken of the drag effects caused by regions of the atmosphere moving up along diverging field lines. Small micron sized particles can be then transported, and, under certain circumstances and with the availability of sufficient energy, larger particles or objects could be similarly affected. Particles with desired characteristics such as tackiness, reflectivity, absorptivity, etc., can be transported for specific purposes or effects. For example, a plume of tacky particles could be established to increase the drag on a missile or satellite passing therethrough. Even plumes of plasma having substantially less charged particle density than described above will produce drag effects on missiles which will affect a lightweight (dummy) missile in a manner substantially different than a heavy (live) missile and this affect can be used to distinguish between the two types of missiles. A moving plume could also serve as a means for supplying a space station or for focusing vast amount of sunlight on selected portions of the earth. Surveys of global scope could also be realized because the earth's natural magnetic field could be significantly altered in a controlled manner by plasma beta effects resulting in, for example, improved magnetotelluric surveys. Electromagnetic pulse defenses are also possible. The earth's magnetic field could be decreased or disrupted at appropriate altitudes to modify or eliminate the magnetic field in high Compton electron generation (e.g., from high altitude nuclear bursts) regions. High intensity, well controlled electrical fields can be provided in selected locations for various purposes. For example, the plasma sheath surrounding a missile or satellite could be used as a trigger for activating such a high intensity field to destroy the missile or satellite. Further, irregularities can be created in the ionosphere which will interfere with the normal operation of various types of radar, e.g., synthetic aperture radar. The present invention can also be used to create artificial belts of trapped particles which in turn can be studied to determine the stability of such parties. Still further, plumes in accordance with the present invention can be formed to simulate and/or perform the same functions as performed by the detonation of a "heave" type nuclear device without actually having to detonate such a device. Thus it can be seen that the ramifications are numerous, far-reaching, and exceedingly varied in usefulness.

Many researchers and climatologists don't subscribe to Al Gores CO2 induced theory on man made Global Warming. This is not false research done by scientists under the influence of oil companies, it is based on unbiased research.

Global warming has absolutely nothing to do with Earths population or, current population either. Those that say our population is the problem, are severely misinformed, and or have a population control agenda.

I'm not saying that man made global warming doesn't exist, because man made global warming does exist! But, there are several causes that must be factored in.

Heat from combustion, carbon monoxide, soot, volatile organic compounds, deforestation, nuclear weapons testing, weather manipulation & testing, aerial spraying, war & mining must all be taken into account.

Let's not forget to include the dumping of toxic waste, chlorine and bromine and pesticides into our oceans, lakes, rivers, and streams.

The Truth is, the increase of CO2 in our atmosphere is Not the Direct Cause of "Global Warming".

"Climate Change" as it's been so conveniently renamed.

The evidence shows that the increase of CO2 in our atmosphere is a Consequence that followed the destruction of Earths Ozone Layer. CO2 is not the cause, as Al Gore is now promoting.

Ozone Depletion; As an example; from September 21-30, 2006 the average area of the ozone hole was the largest ever observed, at 10.6 million square miles (27.5 million square kilometers).

This image, from September 24, the Antarctic ozone hole was equal to the record single-day largest area of 11.4 million square miles (29.5 million square kilometers), reached on Sept. 9, 2000. Satellite instruments monitored the ozone layer, and NASA used this data to create the images that depict the amount of ozone. The blue and purple colors are where there is the least ozone, and the greens, yellows, and reds are where there is more ozone.

Taking years of research as well as this info into careful consideration I have to disagree with Mr. Gore's CO2 induced theory! If you disagree with me, that's OK, but common sense facts cant be ignored.

The most basic of these facts is that all Oxygen breathing mammals, including human beings, exhale CO2!

We all exhale CO2; so does that mean that we "7 Billion" living and breathing human beings are causing global warming? Of course not.

But some misinformed green extremists like Bill Gates want to get CO2 down to Zero.

Just food for thought, but, you do know what "Eugenics" means right?

Well, lets just say Bill Gates is a fan of using healthcare, vaccines, and reproductive health services; not to help save lives. But to depopulate our planet.

Plus... If CO2 goes down to Zero, then we wouldn't have livable atmosphere, and the majority of all life on Earth would cease to exist.

Gates said our population was a problem and linked our Population directly to man-made CO2 induced global warming. He is quoted as saying that one of these (Population or CO2) has got to go down to Zero.

Yes, he said Zero.

Now, if we do a really great job on New Vaccines, Healthcare and Reproductive Health Services; We could lower that, perhaps by 10 or 15%."

Gates clearly states in that quote that he deems our population as a problem and is targeting poor nations 1st; using new vaccines, healthcare and reproductive health services to reduce Earth's population.

That is Eugenics.

Needless to say, Bill Gates isn't the philanthropist he's trying to brand himself as.

Further more, it shows us how dangerous it is to allow a misrepresentation of scientific facts like CO2 induced global warming and overpopulation go unchecked.

CO2 induced global warming is a false theory with monumental consequences, and Al Gore must be corrected.

This false information Al Gore has made mainstream has been used to brainwash the masses to believing a lie. A lie so big that it could then be used to fulfill what some call a "Green Nazi" agenda to significantly reduce the human population using Eugenics.

However.

I'm not saying that this is or was Al Gore's desire or agenda. I am saying his CO2 theory is an incorrect theory with dangerous, real life consequences.

But, Al Gore's attempt to simplify the causes in order to sell Global Warming to the masses, was intentional.

So was his idea to turn CO2 into a Trillion dollar carbon trading scam. A scam that failed to reduce emissions or pollution, senselessly promoted growing corn to create ethanol fuel and led to the implementation of carbon taxation, (consumption taxation).

All of which has led to the significant decrease in food production, causing Millions more people to starve to death.

This has led to the outrageous increase in food prices, cost of living and inflation.

All the while, these government imposed carbon taxes do nothing more than redistribute wealth from the poor, working class citizens while the government sits back and collects the cash.

In return for this tax money, taxpayers have seen no change, only an increase in the prices for energy, transport costs and increased food prices.

During this time, we have seen no new renewable energy transportation alternatives, services have been implemented.

This shows us that Al Gore is partially doing this for profit.

Rather creative on his part, but CO2 induced global warming is not the whole truth, its half truth. Al Gores "An Inconvenient Truth" is teaching half truths. These half truths are dangerous because they have mislead good people, and misdirected their good intentions.

A great example is Bill Gates... He's convinced that Al Gores theory is correct to the point where he's implementing population control methods because he thinks it will save the planet.

The so called solutions imposed on the world due to this lie, is the wrong way to go about solving any environmental crisis.

Over 20 Years ago, In the 1989 book written by Sharon L.Roan, titled "Ozone Crisis" The 15 Year Evolution of a Sudden Global Emergency".

Al Gore suggested that the most significant cause of Global Warming and the Global environmental Crisis, is related to man-made Stratospheric Ozone Depletion.

The foreword to the "Ozone Crisis" The 15 Year Evolution of a Sudden Global Emergency" was written by Senator Al Gore.

Here is an excerpt of what he wrote;

"When I began my campaign for the 1988 Democratic nomination, I said that the depletion of the ozone layer, the greenhouse effect, and the global environmental crisis were the most important issues this country would have to face in the next decade and the next century. The political pundits, to put it mildly, were not impressed. Some said that anyone who thought ozone belonged on the next presidents agenda was not going to be the next president. The pundits were right about that, as it turned out, but they were wrong about the issue. After years of neglect, global warming and stratospheric ozone depletion have suddenly become matters of widespread international concern. The escalation of the ozone crisis even jump-started an unprecedented international treaty. While we have hardly begun to make the dramatic changes that will be necessary, it is a revolutionary step for society to recognize the problem at all."

Not once did Al Gore mention a word about CO2 or even its relation to Global Warming.

At the time Al Gore linked the Global Environmental Crisis to man-made Stratospheric Ozone Depletion.

Now, he only mentions CO2.

Why did Al Gore change his opinion from man-made stratospheric ozone depletion caused the Global Environmental Crisis... To his "An Inconvenient Truth" man made CO2 caused Global Warming Theory?

He was right! Ozone depletion is the main cause of global warming.

In 1984 researchers detected a 40% ozone loss over Antarctica. This amount of ozone loss hasn't been reduced it has since increased. That means Earth has been absorbing enormous amounts of solar radiation due to man-made ozone depletion for well over 25 years.

Logically; any unbiased scientist studying all the effects of natural and man made causes of global warming would conclude that because Earth is a closed loop system in which we are all dependent upon, and all its systems work as one; that to destroy one aspect of Earth's complex system, such as the Ozone Layer, has catastrophic consequences. This consequence for man made ozone depletion started a chain reaction that allowed and continues to allow more solar radiation into our biosphere and has led to man made Global Warming.

I'm not the only one to come to this conclusion. NASA scientists know this to be true.

I looked for another source to help explain the severity of this problem. In the process of researching this further, I ran across a very informative article titled "The Chlorine Cover-up" an interview with world-renowned scientist Adam Trombly.

Here's an excerpt;

Chlorine is a chemical demon. One chlorine ion will interfere with the reactions that otherwise would produce 100,000 ozone molecules.

When Mario Molina and Sherwood Rowland predicted in 1974 that the ozone loss would reach 7-8 percent by the year 2050, it caused a panic.

We reached that level in the 1980s. What accounts for the difference?

Molina and Rowland were only figuring the chemical impacts for chlorine releases from CFC's. But this source only accounts for a small part of the destruction that has occurred to date.

Where did the other chlorine come from?

The truth is that we have chlorine going up into the atmosphere from all kinds of sources. It's not just CFC's. It's chlorine from sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants, backyard swimming pools, even household chlorine bleach.

We were told that these molecules were too heavy; that they couldn't get into the stratosphere, but it isn't true. Atmospheric scientists have known this for years--it's lunch table conversation.

Not all chlorine rises into the air (some compounds become entrained in the soil or precipitate into water) but massive amounts of chlorine have been getting into the stratosphere the whole time. Once the parent molecule--whether its carbon--tetrachloride, poly-chlorinated hydrocarbon or CFC--gets into the stratosphere, it photo-reacts with the ultraviolet radiation and interferes with the production of ozone.

We've got to realize that as much chlorine production as possible must stop. This is the kind of talk that can get you killed. Chlorine is a huge industry. There is a tremendous amount of money involved. Do you realize the liability issue that is involved here? Remember asbestos? There was congressional testimony from the 1930s on the dangers of asbestos but nothing happened because the lobbies were too strong.

The first major extinctions in the world's oceans were caused by an abundance of oxygen. Anaerobic organisms were killed off by the "aerobic revolution". Then came the invertebrates and the fish. In the atmosphere, membranes of ozone slowly developed, allowing the emergence of land life. This evolution of a natural sunscreen for the whole planet was a living process that took millions and millions of years to occur. And we've totally screwed it up in a couple of centuries.

The Montreal Convention [to control chlorofluorocarbon gases] is an obscene compromise. We've compromised not only our lives but the lives of all species. The trees are dying and many of them are not dying from acid rain. In Colorado, only 15-20 percent of the forests, soils were found to be acidic but 28 percent of the state's coniferous forests are now diseased or dead.

They've been sunburned by ultraviolet radiation.

We're being exterminated by congressional committees that turn their backs on the truth. When people figure out what's been going on, we're going to have War Crime Trials.

Twenty to thirty million people died at the hands of the Nazis, but now we're talking about everybody dying.

Victory Gardens were vegetable, fruit and herb gardens planted at private residences, rooftops and public parks in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada during WWI & WWII to reduce the pressure on the public food supply brought on by the war effort.

In addition to indirectly aiding the war effort, these gardens were also considered a civil "Morale Booster" where gardeners could feel empowered by their contribution of labor and rewarded by the produce grown.

This made Victory Gardens become a part of daily life on the home front. Posters were created, printed and distributed to help promote the concept.

The result was astonishing...

In the United States, from 1940-1945 over 10 Million Victory Gardens were grown to collectively produce 40% of the U.S.A's domestic consumption of fruits and vegetables.

In Canada over 200,000 Victory Gardens were planted, each one producing over 500 lbs of fruits and vegetables each season.

This stands as a great achievement, as it proved that even inexperienced gardeners and farmers could grow food and help feed their families, friends and local communities throughout the year. Without the Millions of volunteer farmers, gardeners and harvesters that collectively produced the food needed to survive, the food shortages would have led to the starvation of Millions of women, children, elderly and disabled people.

They are the unsung hero's of wartime, they are the ones that held the fort at home and looked out for one another to overcome tough times.

It seems almost unbelievable that tens of millions of aboriginal people, around the globe, managed to live their lives in a sustainable manner for thousands of years. Although you may not have learned that in history class, it is true! But their core values were significantly different from ours today, and that's what made it possible. The foundation of these values started with "Respect"; Respect of the self, others and Nature.

It is this basic concept of "Respect" that was lost in the last 300 years and this "Respect" desperately needs to be restored now, and in our daily lives, if we are to turn things around.

300 years isn't that long ago! Yet, today's civilization, with all our accomplishments, forgot about the importance of "Respect" and in the process, managed to: Strip the majority our planets valuable resources, pollute our oceans, destroy our atmosphere, drive countless species into extinction, negatively affect our climate, and destroy the health of millions of people world wide!

But, what caused such a monumental shift in our thinking?

To many in both business and government, the triumph of the self is the ultimate expression of democracy, where power is truly moved into the hands of the people. Certainly the masses may feel they are in charge, but are they are not!

This four part BBC documentary series titled "The Century of the Self" by Adam Curtis; tells the untold and extremely controversial story of the growth of the mass-consumer society and the birth of Consumptionism.

The documentary tells us how the all-consuming self was created, by whom, and in whose interest?

The Freud dynasty is at the heart of this compelling social history. Sigmund Freud, founder of psychoanalysis; Edward Bernays, who invented public relations; Anna Freud; Sigmund's devoted daughter; and present-day PR guru and Sigmund's great grandson, Matthew Freud. Sigmund Freud's work into the bubbling and murky world of the subconscious changed the world. By introducing a technique to probe the unconscious mind, Freud provided useful tools for understanding the secret desires of the masses. Unwittingly, his work served as the precursor to a world full of political spin doctors, marketing moguls, and society's belief that the pursuit of satisfaction and happiness is man's ultimate goal.

Part 1-Happiness Machines: Part one documents the story of the relationship between Sigmund Freud and his American nephew, Edward Bernays who invented 'Public Relations' in the 1920s, being the first person to take Freud's ideas to manipulate the masses. He showed American corporations how they could make people want things they didn't need by systematically linking mass-produced goods to their unconscious desires.

Part 2: The Engineering of Consent: Part two explores how those in power in post-war America used Freud's ideas about the unconscious mind to try and control the masses. Politicians and planners came to believe Freud's underlying premise that deep within all human beings were dangerous and irrational desires. They were convinced that it was the unleashing of these instincts that had led to the barbarism of Nazi Germany, and in response to this, they set out to find ways to control the masses so as to manage the 'hidden enemy' within the human mind.

Part 3: There is a Policeman Inside All Our Heads, He Must Be Destroyed: In the 1960s, a radical group of psychotherapists challenged the influence of Freudian ideas, which lead to the creation of a new political movement that sought to create 'new people', free of the psychological conformity that had been implanted in people's minds by business and politics. This episode shows how this idea rapidly developed in America through "self-help movements", into the irresistible rise of the expressive self: the Me Generation.

Part 4: Eight People Sipping Wine in Kettering: This episode explains how politicians turned to the same techniques used by business in order to read and manipulate the inner desires of the masses. Both New Labor with Tony Blair and the Democrats led by Bill Clinton, used the focus group which had been invented by psychoanalysts in order to regain power. Both set out to mold their policies to manipulate people's innermost desires and feelings, just as capitalism had learned to do with products.

My Conclusion:

This 4 part documentary series done by the BBC is probably one of the most important documentaries ever produced! Although it was created in the 1990's "The Century of the Self" is even more important today, because history it seems, is repeating itself! The series truthfully reveals how self sufficient, independent people, and sustainable communities were taught to be consumers.

The documentary also explains that this consumer way of life was intentionally created and reveals how mass production and consumption of goods has led mankind down a very dark path. Not because we are all consuming, but because we were taught that our sense of worth is connected to a high level of consumption. It's this false concept that has led to the poor management of our resources, and this lack of respect that is responsible for a great deal of the problems we face today.

But is it too late to change our ways? Can we free ourselves from this consumer based lifestyle, and learn to act more responsible and implement a new system of business that is responsible, ethical and sustainable?

We must remember that we, as human beings have the capacity to adapt and create positive change; we have in the past, and we can now... through necessity! Currently, we are ruled by a system that promotes massive consumerism, but it wasn't always this way! This hyper consumptionism started in the 1920's and now in 2011 this way of life is coming to a crashing halt! The limit to growth isn't about our current population being 8 Billion or even 9 Billion, it has to do with doing away with the Greedy ways of doing business and the false concept of endless oceans, oil, fish, water, land, soil and oil. I believe that humanity is inherently Good, but we must learn to curb our Greed, and "Respect" must be part of our daily lives.

It may take another 5 generations to completely relearn accountable, responsible, ethical and sustainable ways of living. It may also take this long to undo the damage we have done to our planet, but it can be done!

We can do it by combining the knowledge of our ancestors with innovative new technology that works along side nature and not against nature. We can do it, by creating sustainable manufacturing, housing, agriculture and utilizing natural, renewable energy sources and means of anti-gravity and maglev transportation.

Change starts from each of us making a choice.

For instance, I do my best to live in a sustainable manner that is within my means, and respectful of nature and others, and I continue to improve. I am not alone, it's just not as prominent today, and with good reason!

Humanity as a whole had to adapt to survive, and we have, by conforming to a system, earn $$$$ and over-consume.

Luckily, over-consumption can be unlearned, and people are! Government and multinational corporations must do their part as well by acting responsibly, morally and with accountability. This is the trickiest part, But! If big business want to continue to do business, they will have to embrace change, or they will go out of business! In the meantime, a good way to help promote change, is to continue to "Vote with your Dollar" & buy from ethical, sustainable businesses, buy local, support local businesses and farmers! This will cut into the profits of Big Businesses that are behaving badly, and drive home the message.

Do the right thing!

Think Possible! Think Renewable Energy!

I'm forever an optimist, but I am not apathetic, blind or complacent to what ails the world. I see what goes on and I look for solutions to problems that exist, I do so because there is to much negativity in the world.

One thing I believe must occur, is that all War's must end and a World War must be avoided at all costs. We must work towards ending war in a peaceful manner, and I believe we can start solving this mess associated with the global economy, by cutting military spending.

We return the troops home to help build a renewable energy future, and phase out America's dependence on nuclear energy and foreign Oil.

Doing this would save Hundreds of Thousands of Human Lives and create Millions of Jobs. The money that would be saved by bringing the troops home, would save the United States taxpayers over a Trillion Dollars a year.

This one solution is also beneficial to protecting our environment and would reduce the amount of environmental damage and resources we use. Some of these resources, that would have been used to create war, could then be used more wisely by employing more people to upgrade the United States infrastructure, and would include a revitalization of local manufacturing.

By manufacturing solar panels, wind turbines, wave and tidal generators in the United States, would also spur on a Renewable Energy Industry that would create more Good Paying Jobs for Americans.

These jobs would then provide the American people with the money they need to survive and thrive. People would start spending more and people can be reminded that they can "Vote with their Dollar" by supporting local businesses throughout the United States.

We stop all corporate bailouts and demand that they pay appropriate taxes on their profits.

This would rejuvenate the economy, restore faith back in the American Dollar and end the social, economic and environmental crisis.

Think Possible! Together, the people of the United States can solve the problems they face, get things back on track, achieve Renewable Energy Independence and take action to avoid the collapse of the Global Economy.

People cant afford to stand by and do nothing while our elected representatives make decisions that benefit the few and hurt the many.

Aquaponics UK is a not for profit social enterprise that provides support for the development of Aquaponics.

What is Aquaponics? Aquaponics integrates the best qualities of Aquaculture and Hydroponics to grow healthy organic food in a local, sustainable manner.

The fish and plants are grown in symbiotic unison to achieve a balanced, closed loop system of agriculture, where the system feeds and waters itself. Waste from the fish provide nutrients for the plants, and the plants filter the water for the fish. Crops are constantly harvested and plant trimmings are composted in a wormery to provide food for the fish. The system is then surrounded with a greenhouse, where lady bugs and other beneficial insects are added to create a sustainable Aquaponics Cycle.

In this TED Talks presentation, Charlie Price from Aquaponics UK, explains the role aquaponics can play in the future of our collective food supply. He also provides insightful information about the applications for aquaponics. But more specifically, he acknowledges aquaponics as a new approach to creating sustainable urban agriculture within any community.

My conclusion, is that aquaponics will empower thousands of people worldwide to become more self-sufficient, and grow their own food for their household, and community. I also agree with Mr. Prince that aquaponics has the potential to create more resilient communities.

Aquaponics can be utilized as a great educational tool for schools to teach their students about sustainable food production.

Aquaponics UK, proves that we can turn waste into resources, by transforming misused urban spaces into a commercially viable, sustainable way to produce healthy, nutritious food. The examples Mr. Price shows in his presentation also proves; that by growing food with a sustainable Aquaponics system. We can protect the environment, conserve valuable resources and grow healthy abundant food locally, 365 days a year.

The future looks bright for Aquaponics UK, and I'm convinced that aquaponics is a very timely and much needed sustainable method of farming that will help End World Hunger.

Solar Ink! MIT Aims to Print Nano-Virus Solar Cells

A team of researchers at MIT's Gleason Laboratory created a revolutionary new way to print Solar Cells. The five layer printing process, uses vapors and temperatures less than 120 degrees Celsius to produce simple, inexpensive solar cell's on paper, cloth or plastic.

It might look like a regular sheet of paper with an intricate pattern printed on it. But, as seen in this video that MIT posted: after the paper is attached to the multimeter via two wires and a light is flashed on the paper, the multimeter instantly starts to display the voltage produced by the paper cell!

If you're wondering how this is possible! The Secret is in the Special Ink they use to create the printed photovoltaic cell, or Polymer Solar Cell. But this specific technology that MIT researchers are working on is new and MIT calls their Solar Cell "Organic".

So why is MIT calling their Solar Cell, an Organic Solar Cell?

"Organic" is a term with many meanings. Despite this, most people associate the word "Organic" with "Natural" and this confusion raises two Very Important Questions:

What exactly, is in this Solar Ink?
Is it Safe?

The Ink is said to consist of a special blend of conjugated polymers and organic solvents, but the rest is unclear.

In their Conclusion section; Wikipedia mentions that the process involves "Nanostructures".

"Still, organic PV devices show great promise for decreasing the cost of solar energy to the point where it may become widespread in the decades ahead. While great progress has been made in the last ten years with respect to understanding the chemistry, physics, and materials science of organic photovoltaics, work remains to be done to further improve their performance. Specifically, novel nanostructures must be optimized to promote charge carrier diffusion; transport must be enhanced through control of order and morphology; and interface engineering must be applied to the problem of charge transfer across interfaces."

In this case; MIT is using Genetically Modified Carbon Nano tube particles. This is the part that I found concerning! I love technology... But, when people start playing around with DNA, Nanotechnology and Viruses, it makes me very uneasy to say the least!

I looked into this further and found that MIT Researchers have in fact, Genetically Modified the M13 Virus, altering its DNA and attached it to a Carbon Nanotube.

MIT did so, with the intention of incorporating this Virus/Nanostructure into their "Solar Ink" because they believe it will significantly improve the efficiency of solar cells.

Sounds like science fiction, but its reality! My source comes directly from the April 25th 2011 MIT News article titled "Solar Power Goes Viral".

I also found this shocking photo of what this Virus looks like via James Mulroy at PCWorld.

This Genetically Modified M13 Virus/Carbon Nano Tube, looks pretty ominous.

What do you think?
Is this genetically manipulated mutation really Good for Humanity?
Or could it Contaminate our Biosphere?

These are relevant questions to ask, but also questions that MIT should answer! Tampering with Nature has serious consequences, and to call it Organic is misleading to say the least.

In the future! If, this technology is deemed safe! People could print these solar cells in a manner that is similar to the one used to make the metallic lining found in potato chip bags; which can be created inexpensively, and on a large commercial scale.

It sounds optimistic! but, before it gets to that stage! I think its important to know how this special "Solar Ink" reacts in nature, how it decomposes, and if there's any risk of contaminating nature in any way.

Another Question to ask, is regarding the viability and functionality of the technology itself, for instance:

How long could one of these solar cells last, and how resilient would it be?

To help answer this question; MIT researchers printed a solar cell on a sheet of PET plastic and claim to have folded and unfolded it 1,000 times, with no significant loss of performance. By contrast, a commercially produced solar cell on the same material is said to have failed after a single folding.

"We have demonstrated quite thoroughly the robustness of this technology. We think we can fabricate scalable solar that can reach record-high watts-per-kilogram performance. For solar cells with such properties, a number of technological applications open up."

Presently the paper printed solar cells only have an efficiency of 1% and Professor Bulovic admits the process requires more fine-tuning. Bulovic also suggested that; despite the low rate of efficiency, at this point, it should be good enough to power small electronic devices.

My Conclusion:

Printing solar cells with MIT's "Oxidative Chemical Vapor Deposition" method; appears to have the potential to overcome the shortfalls of the expensive, heavy, glass photovoltaic solar cells that are on the market today.

Applications would include everything from: portable solar power-plants, swim suits, jackets, bags, tents, umbrellas, wallpaper, window-blinds and roof-tiles.

The Possibilities are Endless... But!

Is the "Modified Nano-Virus" aspect in the "Solar Ink" Safe?

Before we tout this as a safe, viable solution to produce cheap, Solar Electricity. We should ask MIT the Difficult Questions, and proceed with extreme Caution.

Its true that the results the researchers have shown thus far, are Amazing! But, as optimistic as it may seem, my doubts are regarding the "Solar Ink" itself!

The potential of widespread negative implications regarding the use of, and manipulation of, viruses and nanotechnology could severely out-weigh the positive aspects and shouldn't be overlooked.

At this point, I'm not convinced of the safety of MIT's, Solar Ink! Are you?

A world that is secure; providing global access to an endless supply of safe, clean energy
A world that is just; ensuring affordable energy to developing nations

Along with these noble aspirations, SPACE Canada maintains a strong set of values that are:

To accomplish these goals; their mandate is to promote, support and encourage space based solar power through research, education and commercialization. They also facilitate international dialogue to enable individuals, organizations and governments to engage in dialogue regarding the benefits, safety and feasibility of space based solar energy.

To engage their audiences curiosity and desire to learn about this innovative technology, SPACE Canada produced this video.

It explains that space based solar panels could:

Absorb 10 times more energy than ground based solar panels
Produce energy 24 hours a day
Provide us with more energy than we need

These are all exciting possibilities and all-though they are not yet a reality, they could be within our lifetime. I also find SPACE Canada's aspirations to be more than noble! This kind of technology could create a paradigm shift, pave the way for more innovation and revolutionize the way we think about energy.

Scotland's 100% Renewable Energy Plan

Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond announced to the World that the new Scottish Government's 2020 Renewable Electricity Target has been raised to 100%.

"Because the pace of development has been so rapid, with our 2011 target already exceeded, we can now commit to generating the equivalent of 100% of Scotland's own electricity demand from renewable resources by 2020. By then, we intend to be generating twice as much electricity as Scotland needs - just over half of it from renewables, and just under half from other conventional sources. We will be exporting as much electricity as we consume. So we will continue to work with industry and governments at local, UK and European level to build on what we have achieved. We will now move still further and faster to secure our place as the green energy powerhouse of the continent of Europe."

In this video Mr. Salmond describes this plan in detail: Scotland possesses 1/4 of Europe's Offshore Wind and Tidal Potential as well as 1/10 of Europe's Wave Energy Potential. They intend on developing these resources to their full potential and claim that utilizing 8 Offshore Wind Energy Sites around Scotland have the potential to Produce 10 GW of Electricity by 2020.

So far Scotland has consented to 42 renewable energy projects, at 25 offshore sites. In addition to creating enough renewable energy for their own needs, Scotland is developing a Grid, and plans on Exporting Energy to other Countries.

This sounds great, but one thing that really didn't belong in this announcement was Mr. Salmond's attempt to satisfy those in Oil Industry. In the middle of the video regarding renewable energy, he mentions that Scotland still has vast reserves of oil and gas, and is also setting firm goals to maintain and develop Aberdeen's position in the worlds oil and gas industry, especially the Subsea Industry.

Mr. Salmond also mentions that he worked closely with the (Energy Advisory Board & the Oil and Gas Adviser Group). He stated his concerns over the Coalition Government's decision to increase taxes on oil and gas projects, and how this decision has hurt business in the Oil and Gas sector. He then joked that he will kick down the chancellors door to offer him constructive suggestions on how to repair this. I had to laugh, but some people could take that out of context, perhaps it's just bad humor? I'm sure he didn't mean it to be anything more than a joke.

Regardless, I hope Mr. Salmond takes the time to consult experts about the environmental consequences of Subsea Oil and Gas. A (BP) type incident could destroy their Fishing and Tourism sectors, not to mention the Health of the Citizens in the United Kingdom. Due to these factors, Mr. Salmond may want to cut the part about Subsea Oil and Gas, because it may taint his Renewable Energy Message.

Sandwiched in the middle of all this, Mr.Salmond explains Scotland's ability to store Carbon Emissions via Carbon Capture Storage. That research by the Scottish Enterprise claims (CCS) would add 3 Billion pounds in gross value to Scotland, and create 5000 new jobs.

This plan includes the European Marine Energy Center (EMEC) being the 1st Testing Facility to be Grid Connected, and in this announcement the First Minister noted: That a strategic agreement between the (EMEC) in Orkney and the Fundy Ocean Research Center for Energy in Nova Scotia, Canada was Signed. The agreement signifies a joint venture to Collaborate on the Development of Power Generation from the Sea.

It also has the potential to deliver 6 Billion pounds of investment to establish the Worlds only commercially leased Wave and Tidal projects in the Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters. The Venture is said to Generate 1.6 GW of Electricity, and help Increase New Apprenticeship Jobs from 20,000 to 25,000 in 2011, for the next 5 years.

With all these exciting new developments, Scotland's Renewable Energy Future looks Bright, and the First Ministers statements regarding Scotland's desire to become a Renewable Energy Power House in Europe is a Breath of Fresh Air.

Y-Green's Feature Friday - The Solar Impulse

The Solar Impulse is a single occupancy, solar powered airplane with a wingspan of 64 meters, and it's total weight is approximately 1400 Kg's. The Solar Impulse's 4 electric motors are powered by 12,000 solar cells, and the output produced from these solar panels is equivalent to that of a small motorcycle. The frames construction consists of lightweight carbon material, and it's power is stored via 400 Kg's of batteries which are evenly distributed throughout the aircraft.

July.9th 2010; the Solar Impulse completed a 26 hour test flight and proved the plane could stay flying at night with the energy that its solar cells collected during the day.

May.12th 2011; the Solar Impulse team, set out to make the solar planes 1st international flight across France, Luxembourg and Belgium.

12 hours and 59 minutes later; pilot Andre Borschberg, successfully landed in Brussels to complete the Solar Impulses 370 mile international flight and made Aviation History.

The Solar Impulse's next flight is scheduled in June where it will be exhibited at the Paris Air Show.

The SEARASER - Harnessing the Power of the Ocean

The Oceans tides, waves and currents have the potential to provide us with enough renewable energy to power billions of homes worldwide. But how? Can this be achieved in a manner that's affordable?

British inventor; Alvin Smith of Dartmouth Wave Energy Ltd believes he can, by utilizing his invention called the "Searaser".

"The "Searaser" is a wave energy converter that harnesses the power of the ocean and has the potential to provide renewable energy on demand."

The "Searaser" works via a center piston in conjunction with two floats; the larger float sits on the oceans surface and the other is held underwater at a ﬁxed depth by an anchor chain. When the top ﬂoat bobs up and down on the swells, seawater is pumped in both directions creating water pressure. This water pressure then forces seawater through an underground pipe that leads several meters above sea-level, where it can be stored in a holding tank. From the holding tank or reservoir the seawater can be released back down through a hydro electric turbine to produce renewable electricity, before returning to the ocean.

Mr. Smith claims 1 Large scale "SEARASER 1200" could:

Pump 1.6 cubic meters of seawater per second
Pump 136,000 cubic meters per day
Produce 1 MW of electricity
Power 1720 homes
Cost 2 cents per kWh to produce

With Great numbers like this; Why isn't the "Searaser" in full operation right now? Whats the delay?

According to this article; "Football scores a goal in mastery of wave power" It's due to a lack of government support. This is unfortunate because the "Searaser" has great potential, and among it's competitors, the "Searaser" may also be the least expensive to build.

Here's an example of the "Searaser's" Potential! The World's 1st "Seawater Pumped Storage Hydro Power Plant" in Okinawa Japan. (How Pumped Storage Hydro Electricity works)

Presently it runs on coal to power it's generators, but there's a better option; the "Searaser" could completely replace the facilities use of coal. Significantly decrease it's environmental impact, reduce cost and increase efficiency to produce up to 30 MW of electricity per day.

The image above is a concept that suggests how combining the "Searaser" and "Okinawa's Seawater Pumped Storage Power Station" could be transformed into a "Multi Purpose Seawater Power Station". It may sound too good to be true; But is it? Perhaps the real question isn't; Can we make this Happen? Perhaps it's more about; Does the Will to make this Happen Exist?

The information and data on Dartmouth Wave Energy's website regarding the "Searaser" and the "Multi Purpose Seawater Power Station" sounds feasible.

My conclusion is that "Harnessing the Power of the Ocean" is a:

Viable, sustainable solution.
Could power millions of homes worldwide.
Help diversify the worlds renewable energy resources.
Decrease our dependence on fossil fuels & nuclear energy.
Help protect our health and environment

At the moment, our ability to utilize such a vast renewable energy resource is only limited by a lack of funding and corporate willpower. It's not due to a lack of innovation or inventions that could harness the power of the ocean. It's not due to a lack of forward thinking people. It's about those controlling the energy industry delaying progress for the sake of profit. In essence, It's about greed.

For instance; there is no other reason why countries like Japan shouldn't be utilizing the power of the ocean to generate their electricity right now! Not 30 or 50 years from now.

Inventions and concepts like those Alvin Smith presents, appear to be more than viable solutions, I believe it's a step in the right direction. With sufficient funding, government support, and corporate willpower. Inventions like the "Searaser" and "Multi Purpose Seawater Power Station's" could become a reality. Reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, nuclear energy and power millions of homes.

TOMS - One for One Movement

TOMS is an ethical, eco, sustainable company that makes shoes for men, women and children out of organic cotton, hemp, recycled bottles and recycled rubber. But there's allot more to TOMS than simply being another eco friendly company that makes sustainable products.

Many of us take for granted that we can buy the essential things we need; like shoes. But for some children around the world, shoes are a luxury they cant afford, so they go without.

A leading cause of disease in developing countries is soil-transmitted diseases, which can penetrate the skin through bare feet. Wearing shoes can help prevent these diseases, and the long-term physical and cognitive harm they cause.
Wearing shoes also prevents feet from getting cuts and sores. Not only are these injuries painful, they also are dangerous when wounds become infected.
Many times children can't attend school barefoot because shoes are a required part of their uniform. If they don't have shoes, they don't go to school. If they don't receive an education, they don't have the opportunity to realize their potential.

Yes! With every pair of Shoes you buy, TOMS will give a child in need a Free pair of shoes. Talk about inspiring, I watched this video regarding "TOMS - One for One Movement"" and it got me; Right in the Heart.

Blake Mycoskie founded TOMS shoes in 2006 out of the desire to help remedy this situation, and he is succeeding. He is succeeding because he made a conscious choice to make sustainably made products people need, for a cause that put's people before profit! Wouldn't it be great if other companies followed Mr. Mycoskie's business model. Even if a small fraction of other companies did this, the world would be a much better place.

I would go as far to say; Blake Mycoskie deserves a Nobel Prize.

Why? Because he found a way to build an ethical, sustainable, profitable company that helps people; help others, simply by buying a pair of shoes for themselves.

Tata's Air Car - North American Release Date!?

In last months post "Analyzing TATA's Nano Fan Page" I asked TATA; “Hi! What is the Tata Nano's new North American release date?”. Once a week I checked back with them and re-posted my question, but I received no response. Knowing that my question may have been lost in the shuffle, on April. 21st I decided to make my fourth follow up and I again re-posted my question on TATA's Nano Fan Page:

Y-Green Energy So, when will the Nano be made available in North America? My readers are patiently waiting for your answer.

Unfortunately, I found TATA's response to my question rather Disappointing. It was disappointing because, It was back in 2008 that TATA first announced that the Nano was to be made available in North America by 2010.

Unfortunately that didn't happen; If this did come to fruition that would have forced other automakers to change the Antiquated, combustion engine to implement the Nano's Air powered, oil free engine. It would have helped decrease our dependence on oil. Who wouldn't want that? Hmmm...

Instead the reason given to TATA was that the Nano didn't meet North American safety standards. Since 2009; TATA has made significant improvements to the design, safety and manufacturing quality of the Nano but still to no avail.

Today in 2011 the future for the Air Car in North America is still uncertain, and in TATA's response to my question, they politely requested for me to ask all you Nano lovers in North America to be patient and bear with them. Since we have already been waiting for over 4 years, it's really difficult to keep Waiting for the World to Change. So I made one last attempt to search the web for a more detailed answer to my question.

In my persistence I was rewarded, and found a more detailed answer to my question on the TATA Forum.

So their you have it! It appears that 2012 is the TATA Nano's new release date for Europe! Lets keep asking companies like TATA to manufacture more alternative energy solutions like the Nano. I'm certain if we make our requests for Air Powered cars heard by other vehicle manufacturers. Perhaps The Nano's North American release will be in 2012 as well?

Vote with your Dollar! The importance of Shopping Local

It's only natural for people to try to save their hard earned money and get a good deal. We earn less money than our parents did, we work harder and our money doesn't buy as much as it used too.

The problem is the majority of companies that sell cheaper products here in North America are able to do so because they outsourced their manufacturing overseas. The reason; because labor is much cheaper and therefore increases their profit margin. It's not that they didn't make a significant profit before, it's because they want more profit.

Some large brand name clothing manufacturers would argue that it's because we no longer have enough local sewers to meet the demand, and in order to compete, they outsource the work. That may be true, but if they didn't do it in the first place, we wouldn't have a manufacturing shortage nor an unemployment problem that has left thousands of people homeless. Its because they went overseas that the majority of local manufacturing companies went out of business, leaving 2.7 Million Americans unemployed and this is only between 2001-2004, that total is much higher now. In Canada, between 2002-2008 350,000 Canadians also lost their jobs and again it was due to an increase of outsourced jobs, now that number is much higher as well, and these jobs haven't returned.

So who do you blame? Sure we can blame the government, after all they agreed to the so called free trade deals like: NAFTA, TILMA, CETA and CAFTA. You know several large corporations were involved in getting these deals done, because none of them represented the best interests of the people.

That's hardly ethical... Yes, I will be the first to say: everyone needs to work, but it should be a fair deal that doesn't jeopardize or trade the rights and freedoms of those in one country for another. So you may get a deal today, but in reality, what's the real cost? Are you conscious of where your food, water, clothes, shoes, jewelry, cars or energy comes from? If not, you should be.

You're buying power is significant and extremely influential, your love of shopping or necessity to shop; whether you are male or female affects your: community, environment, your local economy and the ability for families, artisans and locally owned and operated businesses to survive.

When you buy local, 70% or more of what you spend in an independently owned local store returns to your community via wages, rent and taxes. Taxes that help pay for essential services, medical, law enforcement, roads and education. With a large corporation that manufactures overseas 35% or less actually stays in your community. That's a huge difference, no wonder we are facing recessions and hyperinflation, we are being stripped of our jobs, buying power and big business isn't giving enough back.

Here is a list of 10 large corporations that have made Billions of untaxed profit overseas. These tax dollars would contribute to the economic development of the United States. Instead they prefer to hoard the money and let their country fall further into debt and let regular citizens and small businesses flip the bill.

Much like an ecosystem, it's interdependent, and supporting your local economy is necessary for it to thrive and survive. How does this affect you? Well, it could affect your job, your ability to purchase food, pay your mortgage or even your ability to get a good paying job.

Lets look at some of the facts from Industry Canada's Key Small Business Statistics report from July 2010.

Small businesses account for 2/3rd's of all the jobs in:

Healthcare 89%
Construction 75%
Forestry 74%
Food and Accommodation 66%
Professional Services 75%

To top it off: Accommodation and Food, Construction, Manufacturing, Professional Services and Wholesale Trade Account for 68% of all jobs in small companies. Small local businesses also collect Billions of tax dollars per year for the government. Despite this, small businesses don't get the same tax breaks and tax incentives that the government gives their larger competitors.

It goes to show, locally owned and operated business owners are directly responsible for the majority of the jobs and economic growth in local communities due to big businesses outsourcing our jobs and manufacturing overseas.

In this post, I'm primarily using Canada as an example, it doesn't matter if you live in the United States, Mexico or any other country in Europe, Africa, South America or Asia: people need to support businesses that are local. Their contributions and importance are largely underestimated and are essential to your community.

If we don't support local, by shopping local we are in fact sabotaging our own economy and even our own success.

Based on my findings thus far, writing a blog is a great way to express ones thoughts and interests. Blogs can also be a powerful tool that green, sustainable and renewable energy companies can utilize to help achieve their marketing goals. After all! What good is having a great product or service if no one knows you exist? Blogs are a fun and relatively inexpensive solution.

Three things I would recommend to a company attempting to incorporate their own blog are;

1) Do your research and create a plan and blogging strategy based on your companies needs.

2) Write posts that are entertaining, informative and truthful.

3) Utilize other sources of social media by linking your blogs content to gain exposure and find readers interested in your blogs subject.

But, before using your new super power, remember…

With great power comes great responsibility, and what people write about on a blog has consequences. Some are positive and some are negative; so it’s good to know how to utilize your blogs power in a positive and effective manner.
