IIT JEE 2012 Results coming today on jee.iitm.ac.in

Waiting for the results of the country's most competitive examination can get on your nerves and make you restless. Now it seems that the IITs have found a way to ease the anxiety of the half-a-million aspirants who took the JEE last month.

Until last year, the IIT- JEE answer key was only made public and available online after the results were out, but this year, the IITs have posted the answer key of the test before the announcement of the results, which is expected today i.e. May 18. This move, experts point out, has brought immense benefits to engineering students and help them chart out their future.

“ This is an excellent move,” commented Sharad Awasthi, Chief Operating Officer of the education services provider, CL Educate, formerly known as Career Launcher. “ It helps students to point out the errors (if any) in the answer key before the results are out.” In previous years, Awasthi pointed out, students were able to figure out the errors in the answer key only after the results were declared, and some would lose their merit list ranking only because of those errors, “ which was unfair”. Apart from the JEE answer key, which has been on display since May 3, the evaluated optical response sheets (ORS) of all the candidates were made available on the IIT- JEE site on May 5.

The ORS are displayed along with the machine-read responses and the point scores. Students can log on to the website and check their ORS and get an idea about where they stand.

Will making the ORS available online pose privacy issues? Awasthi was categorical in his reply: “ There are no privacy issues. It is not that anyone can log in and get your details.

You can only log in if you know the roll number or the application number.” Another big advantage of this move is that the students appearing for other engineering examinations in the coming weeks and months can analyse the errors they have made. And they can work on improving those areas.

“ The answer key helps students who are taking other engineering entrance exams next month, and have time to go through the topics and questions that they have missed. They can work on those areas,” Awasthi said.

The answer key does not promise any cut-off predictions, but the move has definitely brought transparency in the evaluation system. And till the results are not officially out, it wont hurt you to calculate your points.

CBSE Central Teacher Eligibility Test 2012 Online Application & Details

Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted for the recruitment of Teachers at Primary or Elementary level in the Central Government and Union Territories Schools. CTET is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education and this year's test is scheduled to be conducted on 29/01/2012, hence the online registration for the same has begun.

The application can be made online as well as offline, however the last working date for the online application is 25th November where as offline will go till 30th November.

Interested aspirants would have work hard and start the preparations early as the results of the previous has not been very encouraging as only 14% of the total population passed the exam out of around 7 lakh candidates. CTET is now conducted every year and its score is valid for 7 years. Looking the scale at which examination is conducted, there is a tough competition, however with it there are handful of once you clear the exams as it is mandatory now for any CBSE affiliate school to hire teachers who are CTET qualified.

LG launches 13 notebooks in India

Korean consumer electronics major LG Electronics on Wednesday made a re- entry into the laptop segment in India by launching 13 notebooks at prices ranging from Rs. 26,000 to Rs. 66,780, including a 3D laptop. LG Electronics said it also plans to launch a 3D tablet in the Indian market by the second quarter of 2012.

“ The notebook business is a key part of our portfolio globally. Going forward, the notebook business will be one of the growth engines for LG India,” said Soon Kwon, president and managing director, LG Electronics ( South West Asia).

“ There is a huge demand and with our technology we expect this category to contribute 12- 14 per cent in the IT business by 2012,” Kwon said.

The IT division of LG Electronics is eyeing a 15 per cent year- on- year growth in revenue to Rs. 1,000 crore by 2012. For the current year, the firm expects revenue to be Rs. 860 crore.

Kwon said that the 3D range of notebooks will “ give us an edge over others and we expect a good response from game lovers”. “ The company had exited the laptop segment around two- and- a- half years ago as it felt that the market was not mature. I feel this is the right time for the entry as the market is mature and there is robust demand,” said Sanjoy Bhattacharya, marketing head, LG India.

“ India is always considered a key market for LG Electronics. In the last few years, the IT division has been increasingly contributing to the overall turnover of the company,” said Bhattacharya.

“ The company is really confident that these new range of notebooks will offer world class viewing experience for the techno savvy next generation,” he said.

The company said it has aggressive marketing plans to boost sales and has earmarked 10 per cent of the revenue of the notebook business for marketing by 2012. LG added that it is going to open many more service centres across India.
