I sorted out the jetting today and put some very fun miles on it. I already had a 50 something lady crank her window down in traffic and ask if that was a new bike. She said she loved it?! Cool.

I wasted well over 3 months waiting for a custom pipe that never came .So my buddy Bob and I came up with this easy,simple,economical solution. Can anyone guess the pipe? Bike weighs 254.5 with 3 gallons of gas.That is just

under #250 with a half tank of fuel!

It was an XS500.Now it is the Blaster bike.

Horse Power Ignitions out of Belgium is making a programmable ignition for our XS/TX500's. It is part number #12VT-06-001http://www.hpi.be/osc.htm The picture of the rotor is incorrect,but they are aware of this and will change it.

With the hotrod motor,good suspension,light wheels and the sticky trials tires it is fun to ride.On asphalt,grab a handful of throttle in 1st gear and it will spin the tire like John Force.I am pleasantly surprised how well it handles on dirt/sand roads.

Several years ago I had a really nice CR500 that came with some super trick alloy handlebars.I made up my mind then, that I would build an "all around bike" based on those bars.Then last autumn I picked up a 1989 YZ250 roller for $50, and so it began:I used the YZ complete front end and internally lowered it 3 1/2" and rebuilt the forks at the same time.I mounted a new Acerbis replica fender and cut out the super critical fender vent for the cylinder head.I had the Acerbis headlight and reused that,tucking all the wiring into a PVC electrical box just behind and slightly below the headlight.I then moved to the backend and removed a bunch of the monoshock junk from the swingarm and bolted that on after adding shock mounts.I treated myself to some new 13" Progressive Suspension shocks and springs.I reused a stock XS500 chain guard clearanced for the shock. Tires are Shinko DOT trials tires with fresh IRC tubes and rim strips.I replaced my old Acerbis LED tail light with a newer, brighter one that also has the white tag light.I added a Wolfman fender bag to the rear fender.Next up was to detail the instrument cluster to clear the bars and headlight, and mount the reused TinyTach.The tach has seen 25,000 miles on my MZ and a couple more years on my brothers MZ.The controls got new dogleg levers and new rubber dust covers. I have lusted after YZ450F mufflers since 2006,so I had been watching for a good one.Wichita Craigslist came throught for $40 and I welded that to a collector I had lying around.Tone and sound level is exceptional.Now it is time for an updated title and Antique Kansas tag.Click on pictures to ENLARGE.

2006 YZ450 muffler to be attached to my Jardine headpipes.Cheap,light and great flow.I think it looks sweet too!Stainless, titanium and aluminum construction.

I really like the Mikuni TM series flatslides.They are tuned pretty much the same as the VM series, but they have much better throttle response and excellent overall performance,from idle to full throttle.I use 36mm on my dragbike,but 32/34mm would be perfect for street use.If you mount them on a log manifold it will give you even more torque.Another option is to use the 40mm Keihin CV flatslide which is common on modern Harleys and Kawasaki singles,etc.You can pick these up dirt cheap and they are very high quality. I am going to mount only one of these Keihin carbs on the 2 into 1 manifold for my "scrambler" street bike.
