Yamaha 135LC, also known as Yamaha Spark 135 in Thailand,Yamaha Sniper in Philippines Yamaha Jupiter MX inIndonesia and Yamaha Exciter in Vietnam, "Yamaha T 135 Crypton X" in Greece is a small underbone bodied motorcyclemanufactured by Yamaha Motor Company which is also a mopedor underbone model with the second-largest displacement behindSuzuki Raider 150. Powered by a liquid-cooled 135cc 4-strokeengine, the Y135LC is specially designed by the parent company in Japan for Southeast Asian market.

In 2008, the fuel-injected version of the Yamaha Spark 135 was launched for Thai market, making it the second underbone motorcycle using the fuel injection system after the Honda Wave 125i^[1].

DiASil (die-cast aluminum cylinder) which has better heat conductance to dissipate excessive heat easily.
Lighter forged piston
Roller bearing rocker arms with less friction than typical rocker arms.
4-valve water-cooled engine - The 4-valve engine configuration provides better volumetric efficiency compared with other 4-stroke moped models which uses 2-valve engine design, enabling the engine to produce higher torque at high rpm. However, the engine displacement of 135cc limits the ability of air-cooling system while retaining the small kapchai design at the same time, therefore water-cooling system which has better cooling efficiency is used.
Fuel injection (2008 Yamaha Spark 135i in Thailandonly) for less dirtier emission and better efficiency than the carbureted version.
Carburetor with throttle position sensor and accelerator pump (other countries) - The Y135LC usesMikuni VM22 carburetor equipped with throttle position sensor for more precise ignition timing, increasing the engine's efficiency, and also an accelerator pump for better acceleration and instant response during take-off.
Catalytic converter - Even though most 4-stroke kapchai models are capable to surpass strict emission standards without even using the catalytic converters, Yamaha has taken an initiative to install a catalytic converter to the Y135LC to surpass even stricter emission standards in the future.

MODEL HISTORY

The Yamaha Y135LC debuted in 2005 for Thai and Indonesianmarket before brought in Malaysian market in February 2006. The Y135LC was designed by the headquarters of Yamaha Motor Company in Japan for Asean market. The model was very successful in Southeast Asia especially in Malaysia.

To promote the Y135LC, Yamaha organized an Asean road tour known as the Yamaha Pan Asean Tour, traveling 9,000 km on roads in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines, which ended on May 2006.

Yamaha Motor Racing is the official factory team of Yamaha in MotoGP. The team currently compete under the name of Fiat Yamaha. It founded in 1999 following the retirement of Wayne Rainey, who had run a Factory supported team in the 500 cc class for the previous two years.^[1] The team was originally based in the Netherlands but was relocated in Italy in 2002.

Max Biaggi and Carlos Checa raced for the team from 1999 to 2002. Max Biaggi achieved a total of 9 race wins in that period, first riding the Yamaha YZR500 and later the Yamaha YZR-M1 in 2002.

In 2003, Checa was joined by Marco Melandri, the team had an average season with no wins or podiums.

For 2004 Valentino Rossi joined Carlos Checa in the team. Rossi got 9 wins and won the championship.

Colin Edwards joined the team for 2005. Rossi once again won the championship and got 11 wins.

Both riders stayed with the team for 2006. Rossi got 5 wins and finished 2nd in the championship.

For the 2007 season both riders remained with the team riding the new 800cc Yamaha YZR-M1. Rossi got 4 wins and finished the season 3rd overall.

For 2008, Yamaha had a unique line-up with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. Although the pair were fighting for the title from different pit boxes (as Valentino Rossi chose to use Bridgestone tyres and as Jorge Lorenzo continued with Michelin) Yamaha operated as one brand and not two separate manufacturers. The title was won dominantly by the returning hero Rossi who won 9 of the 18 races and finished on the podium on every race except for two occasions. Even though this being the learning year for Jorge Lorenzo, the Spanish star showed no signs of newcomer and cruised to victory at Estoril.

RAMDAN WANTS ANOTHER DOUBLE WIN

Here’s the youngest rider of them all. At 13 years old, Md Ramdan Md Rosli has succeeded in taking not one but three chequered flags home in the 2009 PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship.

In round 4, Ramdan shocked fans of the Cub Prix Championship by completing the kick off leg of the Yamaha 135LC Challenge in first place ahead of Md Amin Md Azahar and Md Rafiuddin Rosle who finished second and third respectively. Not only that, he also showed a lot of improvement in the Wira epg category as he finished fifth in the same round. This episode took place at the Malacca International Motorsports Circuit (MIMC) early last month.

And in the recent Round 5, held at the Sepang International Circuit (South), Ramdan surprised his rivals in the Wira epg category by claiming number one spot within 13:29.207s. Adding on to the sweetness of victory, he also finished first once again in the Yamaha one make race.

Now, son of ex-rider, Md Rosli, is making preparations to repeat another double podium for the next round of the Championship in Batu Kawan this 1-2 August, and probably the remaining rounds too.

The young rider is confident it is achievable with early preparations and a cool head.

“I wish to score another double win and collect more points at Batu Kawan this weekend. It may seem impossible but that’s what I want.

It definitely is not an easy task considering my rivals in both the Wira epg and Yamaha one make race have something that I lack a lot-experience. However, I will still try to do my best this weekend. I have been making early preparations by training on my riding skills and also fitness,” he said.

After the previous round, Ramdan now holds eighth place in the overall standings for the Wira epg category with 36 points. Leading the standings is Md Azhar Abd Jalil from MCS MHR Racing with 98 points.

As for the Yamaha 135LC Challenge, Ramdan tops the charts with 50 points followed by Md Amin Md Azahar and Ahmad Asree Kamaruddin with 36 and 30 points respectively.

ELLY HAS HIGH HOPES

After grabbing two out of five chequered flags from the first five episodes of the 2009 PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship, Elly Idzlianizar Ilias now sets his sights higher than before looking out for the possibility of ending 2009 as Expert Overall Champion.

“It has always been my dream and every other rider to be crowned Champion, regardless of what class or category. Looking back at the amount of experience I possess and the consistency I portrayed, chances are quite bright for me to be hailed Expert King this year,” said the PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Ah Hong rider.

No doubt, Elly is on the right path to achieve his dream and quench his thirst for success and glory which he last tasted way back in 2006 in the Yamaha one make race, the Yamaha 135LC Challenge.

The 25 years old started off this season with a bang by conquering the technical track in Kluang for Round 2, stealing the lead away from Ahmad Fuad Baharudin who won the kick off leg in Alor Setar, Kedah. Elly continue to display prowess as he snatched his second chequered flag in Round 4, held at the Malacca International Motorsports Circuit (MIMC) last month.

However, he doesn’t want to be too optimistic either.

“Despite my bad thirst to win the Expert title this season, I will have to be very careful and plan out a flawless strategy. Yes, I’ve won a couple of rounds but I don’t want to get too optimistic about it because that will only cause me to be over-confident, an attitude no rider should have.

Therefore, to achieve my dream I will need to work really hard. I will need to go all out, try to be consistent during races collect as many key points possible. Other factors I will need to work on so that the Champion title falls into my hands is my physical and mental fitness,” said Elly.

In the recent Round 5 which was held at the Sepang International Circuit (South), Elly failed to get his hands on any points leaving him in fifth place of the overall standings with 55 points.

In lead of the standings with 85 points Md Iskandar Raduan from PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Raceline followed by Elly’s teammate, 26 years old Md Zamri Baba who has 71 points under his belt.

In third place stands Ahmad Fuad Baharudin who is also from PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Raceline. The veteran rider now has 65 points. Meanwhile, two-time Expert Champion from Shell Advance Yamaha Maju, Ahmad Fazli Sham stands in fourth place with 56 points.

“I hope to redeem my failure in Sepang by keeping my feet firm in the lead for the upcoming races, beginning with Batu Kawan this coming weekend which I hope to finish the race on the podium,” concluded Elly.
