I've always wanted to hang an oil painting in my dining room, but it was too expensive, so I decided to create one myself using Photoshop, a computer program. At first, I was disappointed because I really wanted a painting by an artist, but due to the cost, I had to settle for using Photoshop. Once the painting arrived, I hung it in my dining room. Every time I saw it, I was reminded that I couldn't afford the painting I really wanted. But later on, I grew to love the fact that I had created it myself and that it had personal touches of my own. In the end, it was worth more to me than any painting I could have bought, and I regret not making it even larger. I suppose this is how a true artist must feel. Because of the psychological impact it had on me, it became another one of my PSYCHOLOGICAL BOMBS. To create it, I simply copied and pasted images and pieced them together to make the painting. By doing it myself, I was able to include personal elements, such as the candle chart in the lower right corner that represents a very important moment in my life, making the painting something very personal.

In this article, I am going to explain why I give so much importance to the psychological aspect in design, which is why I call it neurodecoration. In reality, the word neurodecoration does not exist; I coined it, and here you can read why.

Ever since I got sick, everything I do, everything I buy has a psychological foundation behind it that motivates me. In reality, I attach importance to the psychological aspect in all areas.

For example, I bought a chair to use where I work. Now, I could buy a simple chair, which would be more convenient economically, but psychologically it wouldn't generate anything for me, and for me, this is fundamental.
Having a large chair, like the one in the image, allows you to use your body language to manipulate other people's emotions. It serves to capture attention and demonstrate that you have power. Being in a high seat when other people are sitting in a more normal type of seat forces other people to look up at us. We have a tendency to respect and fear people who look down on us. My illness forced me to stay home, but far from staying and complaining, I achieved many things that fill me with pride, and the psychological factor was fundamental in everything. I wrote two books, made two blogs without being able to move my extremities well, and despite receiving monetary assistance for treatments not covered by the social security system (genetics in another country or stem cells) from family and unconditional friends, I managed to become financially independent, starting with practically no money.

All my achievements are based on 3 pillars, and in all 3, the psychological aspect is very important. When something happens to you that completely turns your life around, what is truly important comes to the forefront, making everything else seem insignificant.

1) The social pillar: the social life you have is fundamental, and that is where I find true happiness, obviously with your basic needs already met. I'm talking about the unconditional support of your parents and siblings, the presence of relatives and friends, meetings, parties, etc. Notice that I am not talking about money. While it is very important, and anyone who tells you that money doesn't matter is because they never had a need. Money is very important, but once your basic needs are met, it is not so much, and I think its utility is marginal. This is an accounting term, but I will explain it basically. If a person is in the desert, and you offer them a glass of water, they would pay anything for it. If you offer them two glasses, they would pay a little less, and if you offer them three, they would pay even less, and so on. And if you offer them 100,000 liters of water, then they would value it very low. This is what accountants are taught in college as marginal propensity to consume, each time you get a little bit, it is worth a little less. This happens with money; at first, it is very important, but after you meet your basic needs, its importance at first, but once your basic needs are met, its importance decreases marginally.

2) Work: this aspect was fundamental in my psychology. I think that combined with the other two, it was the key to saving my life. It's extremely important to work to keep your mind occupied. You have to do something that you truly enjoy so that you can do it excellently and it doesn't cost you. When you do something you like, the hours don't matter; it could be 3 in the morning, and you would still get up to do it, you can do it on Saturdays and Sundays, and you would still be happy doing it, and it wouldn't matter.

3) Neurodecoration: this is the subject for which this blog was made. The mind controls everything, and that's why neuro and decoration, being in a harmonious environment that gives me mental tranquility is fundamental for me. Being in a pleasant place encourages me psychologically to get up and face the day in the best way possible. This is essential in my case because six years ago, I contracted a disease that made it impossible for me to do anything, leaving me in a wheelchair, making me spend most of the day at home, and if I weren't in a place that I liked, I wouldn't have that incentive that makes me fight harder to get more things.
Achieving a harmonious environment is subjective. It means something different for me than it does for you. In my case, it usually coincides with living among expensive items, but this is subjective.

I'm going to focus on the senses. There are five of them: touch, hearing, taste, sight, and smell. When decorating a space, I take all of these into account and know that I have to make them synchronize perfectly to achieve the best results.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF THE USE OF LED LIGHTING

Many people are delighted with the idea of installing LED lamps or bulbs in their home and yet there is a lack of knowledge about the use of dimmers (see “The importance of lights”) and controllers for this new light technology. Here are some things to know about LED lighting.

First we will have to define what is an LED? It is an electronic device that produces light when an electrical current is passed through it. The light color depends on the LED materials. LEDs are available in many colors, including red, blue, amber, green, and others, with light output ranging from 10 to 200 lumens per watt.

There are two distinctive types of LED lighting: the LED lamp (also called LEDi or retrofit lamp) and the LED luminaire (fixture).

LED lamps are typically of the screw-in type - to be placed in the Edison-type base sockets that we have seen for many decades - and are ideal for replacing incandescent or fluorescent light bulbs (CFL's).

There are also other LED lamps to replace other sources used in chandeliers or accent lights. In all cases, the bases of these lamps have integrated drivers (controllers) that determine whether or not the lamp is dimmable (dimmable) and also determine the performance in terms of dimming. Control of dimming and switching is done via a wall keypad.

LED luminaires vary in their shapes, to the floor, pendant to the ceiling, concave for use in the corner and more; they can have the driver mounted inside their cabinet or remotely. Luminaire manufacturers usually offer different drive options to support different control technologies (phase control or digital) or applications (dimmable or non-dimmable).

LED's chips are low voltage devices, so they necessarily need electronic components that convert the 120 or 220 volt residential or commercial line voltage to the very low voltage necessary for the LED's to operate. These components are known as drives and are of the constant voltage (12 or 24 volts) or constant current (350, 700 or 1050 mA) type.

Benefits of LEDs in general lighting

1. High Efficacy: Measured in lumens per watt (LPW), LED fixtures and lamps can achieve efficacies ranging from 25 LPW to 100 LPW (up to 300 LPW in some circumstances) compared to 5 to 15 LPW efficacies of incandescent bulbs or between 5 and 90 LPW of fluorescent bulbs.

2. Duration: LED's have an estimated life time of between 25,000 and up to 100,000 hours, incomparable with the 1000 hours of an incandescent or halogen lamp and between 15,000 and up to 40,000 hours for fluorescent lamps.

3. Less heat generated: LEDs do not create IR radiation and much less heat than any other light source.

4. Smaller size: Its technology allows designs in the most varied sizes and shapes. In fact, they can generate a large amount of brightness even when their size is smaller.

5. Safe: LED's do not contain mercury inside as it happens with linear fluorescent lamps or CFLs.

Limitations of the LEDs

1. Higher cost: The high brightness LEDs necessary for general lighting are more expensive but the price is falling every day. In many cases you have to add the drivers that are not cheap either.

2. Color Rendering: LEDs can vary widely in their apparent color (color temperature) and how they affect the color of objects and people in a given space (color rendering). stability is a limiting potential. It is necessary to have lamps and luminaires of a single brand and model to drastically reduce this problem.

3. Control incompatibility: Due to the wide range of fixtures, not all LED lamps are dimmable and although they can be dimmed many deliver poor performance. Today it is more feasible to buy “complete systems” (LED module, LED driver and LED dimmer) that ensure compatibility.
