Candida Albicans is a yeast that takes grows in the human body naturally. Problems occur when there is an imbalance of microorganisms causing yeast organisms to reproduce and take over healthy microorganisms. When this happens it will result in a yeast infection.

The most common Candida symptoms are inflammation and itching of the vagina, rectal itching, bizarre craving for sweets and alcohol, migraine, fatigue, mood swings, inability to think clearly or concentrate, poor memory, indigestion, thrush, low sex drive and chronic pain.

The brain is the major organ of the body most often affected by Candida Symptoms. Other than the brain yeast infection also affects the nervous, cardiovascular, digestive, respiratory, endocrine, musculoskeletal and reproductive systems. Candidiasis symptoms are highly individualized. It can vary from one person to another.

A diet high in sugar and the overuse of antibiotics are the major contributors of yeast infection. In order to reduce Candida symptoms try to refrain from taking antibiotics unless necessary. Instead look for any possible alternatives or options. Ask your healthcare provider if the antibiotic prescription is truly needed.

The next important step is to follow a special Candida diet . A diet high in sugar is more likely to feed the yeasts in the body causing worsening of yeast infection. Include in the diet eggs, meat, vegetables, brown rice, potatoes and yogurt. These foods are the best foods recommended by physicians.

Physicians may prescribe OTC (over-the-counter) drugs such as Nystatin, Diflucan or Nizoral. But, it is best to seek for medical advice first before using any medication or drug to reduce some health risks and the possibility of an incorrect diagnosis.

One way to prevent yeast infection is to keep home environment clean, healthy and non-toxic. A toxic environment may weaken the immune system causing yeasts to overgrow in the body. To maintain a healthy environment clean supplies, furniture, and personal items using toxic-free cleaning agents.

There are many different approaches and methods available in the market. That is why it's important to have a thorough understanding of Candida, its symptoms, prevention and treatments. Choosing products without detailed understanding can hinder a fast recovery from yeast infection.

Sometimes yeast infections are also called Candidiasis or Moniliasis.

Yeast infection is mainly caused by a fungus called Candida Albicans that is present in relatively small numbers, along with other bacteria, in your vagina. Sometimes yeast multiplies rapidly due to different circumstances and causes a full-fledged yeast infection.

There are many factors that can cause yeast infection and these can be easily be remembered with the acronym “DIHAS”.

“D” for Diabetes— elevated blood sugar levels will make an individual more prone to yeast infection because high blood sugar will help in the rapid growth of the infection. Yeast needs food to grow, urine with sugar is a very good medium.

“I” for Immune System— damaged or tired immune system will help in the rapid growth of the yeast since the body will not be able to fight the yeast. This occurs when one does too much, does not get enough sleep, or is sick.

“H” for Hormones– fluctuations in a woman’s hormones especially during the end of the menstrual cycle can be very beneficial to the growth of the yeast.

”A” for Antibiotics— antibiotics are probably the leading cause of yeast infection in American women. Antibiotics can cause disturbances in the normal flora of your vagina. But this happens only with certain types of antibiotics or during prolonged use.

“S” for Sex— Candida Albicans can be transmitted between people by direct contact, and so can actually be a sexually-transmitted infection through semen and other bodily secretions. This is rare but can happen.

Aside from these main causes, there are factors that can increase likelihood of infection such as tight or poorly ventilated clothing, hot/humid weather, frequent douches, improper wiping of vagina, sweating, menopause, prescriptions such as steroids, allergic reactions, injuries, HIV infection and poor personal hygiene. These factors and circumstances are the main causes for one to have yeast infection. Men do also get yeast infection but with no obvious symptoms.

If a woman gets a yeast infection, she should refrain from sexual activity with vaginal penetration. She should not use commercial douches and tampons. And she should take extra care to change her underwear and menstrual pads often.

They often have results that are dissimilar to one another. But if the methods are not used properly, you can end up with a treatment that does not work. As an added benefit some yeast infection treatments may also strengthen your body's defenses against yeast infection.

Vaginal yeast infection is caused by a fungus called Candida Albicans. The medical term for yeast infection is Candidasis. This kind of infection causes itching, soreness and redness. It needs to be treated promptly. This is particularly important if a woman is pregnant as it avoids complications.

Seeking medical advice is necessary when you think you have a yeast infection. This is important to have an accurate diagnosis. Without an accurate diagnosis you could use the wrong treatment or even end up treating an infection not caused by yeast.

There are many natural ways to fight vaginal yeast infections. Dietary changes are invaluable for prevention and also treatment of yeast infections. The major components of the diet should include fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, fish and poultry, oat bran. Most importantly large amounts of water. Another helpful food is yogurt. The bacterium in yogurt, the acidophilus, fights yeast by creating hydrogen peroxide. This makes it difficult for the yeast to grow.

Most women naturally assume yeast infections are the best common type of vaginal infection. Actually yeast infection, also referred to as candida, monilial, yeast infection also known as thrush is the second most common sort of vaginal infection.

Bacterial vaginosis is the most frequent sort of vaginitis. Bacterial vaginosis makes up 45% of all vaginitis.

Bacterial vaginosis is an infection with the vagina caused by bacterium. Now a woman's vagina normally has bacteria in it. The normal bacteria protect the vagina from yeast and bacterial infection by keeping things in balance.

The helpful bacterium are referred to as lactobacillus. The lactobacillus helps in its job to maintain the pH of the vagina. Not so valuable bacterial can grow out of control when the lactobacillus is overwhelmed. No one knows why or how this happens.

Bacterial vaginosis will cause a discharge from the vagina. The discharge might have a fishy smell particularly after having sex or a menstrual period. Discharge from bacterial vaginosis can be clear, grey, or milky. It may be thick or thin.

Why Must You Care About bacterial vaginosis? By traveling up the vagina into the cervix and also the fallopian tubes the germs can start an infection elsewhere. These disease can trigger sterility and other difficulties.

The bacteria can travel up the vagina into the cervix and up to the fallopian tubes and start an elsewhere. These other infections can lead to sterility and other difficulties. The complications are usually very serious if the woman is pregnant. The complications can include:

Babies whose birth weight is less than 5 pounds

Early delivery

Early rupture of membrane

If you are pregnant and think you have bacterial vaginosis, contact your helathcare provider as soon as possible. Medical studies have shown bacterial vaginosis within the first trimester can double the incidence of miscarriage within the second trimester

If frequent bacterial vaginosis is a problem for you, read the information at Get Rid Of Bacterial Vaginosis.

You're not alone.

Hear the word antibiotics and your first thought is "great for treating infections". In our mind we often connect antibiotics with other words like healing, wellness and medical treatment. Yet sometimes we forget antibiotics cannot only kill the 'bad' bacteria, but also good bacteria as well.

When we take antibiotics we upset the normal bacteria balance inside our body. Yes, we have a normal bacteria balance in our body. Bacteria help us digest food. Some very helpful bacteria help us break down carbohydrates in our body so we can use the food as energy. For women another helpful bacteria balances the yeast normal found in the vagina. The helpful bacteria keep the pH balanced so normal yeast doesn't overgrow.

The problem with antibiotics is when the antibiotic kills the helpful bacteria. We can end up with diarrhea or yeast infections or even other infections.

Does that mean we shouldn't use antibiotics? No, it just means using antibiotics appropriately. Ask your healthcare provider if the prescription is really needed. Too often providers write antibiotic prescriptions because they think we want a prescription to fix our sore throat or cold. And the antibiotic doesn't do much to help the common cold or virus caused flu. In fact, taking antibiotics can lead to the development of superbugs, which are resistant or not affected by antibiotics.

If you are taking antibiotics, be aware of the possibility of yeast infections. Yeast infections are found on the skin, mouth, and in skin folds. Yeast grows best in warm, damp areas. For women, vaginal yeast infection is frequently seen with taking antibiotics.

Some antibiotics seem to predispose people to yeast infections. These include Keflex and the rest of the cephlasporin family. Other antibiotics such as amoxicillin, augementin and other penicillin family can also lead to yeast infections in some people.

When you are given a needed antibiotic for an infection, consider adding yogurt with active cultures to boost your natural body's defenses. Eat a healthy diet with vegetables to boost your immune system.

If recurrent yeast infection is a problem for you, then consider an anti Candida diet. You can find some excellent information at Natural Remedies for Yeast Infection. Want some tasty, easy to make recipes for your anti Candida diet?

Natural cures for yeast infections are readily available if that is your treatment of choice. You are definitely not alone when you develop a yeast infection. Any person, male or female, can end up with a yeast infection. There are quite a few holistic treatments you can opt to use easily at home.

There are several advantages to natural or holistic treatment of yeast infection. Natural treatments are usually less costly. And in most cases natural treatments are just as effective as prescription drugs. Natural treatments by far are more healthy for you.

Boric Acid Use With Care

Boric acid has been long been used for natural yeast infection cures. This is due to its antifungal and antiseptic qualities. A yeast infection is basically a fungus overgrowth. Boric acid has been shown to be just as useful as a prescription strength drug in killing off the yeast infection.

Boric acid may be found at pharmacies that handle compounding. Talk with your healthcare provider before utilizing boric acid. Then use boric acid only as directed by your healthcare provider.

Boric acid can be poisonous if taken orally or for long periods of time. Keep it away from open wounds or cuts, in some cases the use of boric acid can trigger the vaginal area to burn or become irritated.

Probiotics For Natural Cures For Yeast Infections

Probiotics are considered excellent as a yeast infection natural cure. Probiotics are simply live bacteria that naturally kill the excess yeast produced and restore the balance of your body.

Lactobacillus is the most widely known and useful of the probiotics. Many forms of Lactobacillus can be used for treating yeast infections naturally.

Should you want to make use of Lactobacilli as a yeast infection treatment, you have the option of utilizing it as a vaginal suppository or as an oral supplement. The key ingredient that makes yogurt work is Acidophilus, a member from the Lactobacilli family. With this in mind if you're trying to combat a yeast infection it makes sense to eat plenty of normal yogurt with live acidophilus cultures.

Tea Tree Oil and Other Treatment Options

There is a lot of debate and concern about the safety and value of tea tree oil when utilized for treating yeast infections, so check with your healthcare provider before using.

Yeast Infections Not Just A Female Thing

Many individuals consider yeast infections to be a women's issue, but it can be an an infection that keeps on coming back for women, men and children. The key isn't just only eliminating the current yeast infection, but also prevention of repetitive yeast infections.

When people have repetitive yeast infections it's simple to get discouraged. That why it's so important to not only treat the symptoms but the underlying trigger which allows the yeast within the body to overgrow and trigger yet another yeast infection.

Natural or holistic methods for treating yeast infection may be helpful in relieving the painful symptoms of yeast infection. There are lots of individuals who have developed holistic treatments for yeast infection . A holistic plan often may be inexpensive and effective. When choosing a holistic plan make sure it makes sense. If you have questions, check with your healthcare provider.

Thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth . It happens when yeast normally found in the body grows out of control.

Sometimes Moms and babies will pass the thrush back and forth. Your baby may have a yeast infection and give it to you. Or you can get thrush on your nipples if you took antibiotics and got a yeast infection. Or just the warm moist conditions of a nursing Mom's bra can lead to a yeast infection. If the nipples are painful you will want to contact your healthcare provider. Frequently yeast infections resolve on their own. But if your child is not breastfeeding or you have painful nipples then call your healthcare provider.

Yeast infections are only one of many causes of sore or cracked nipples. If your nipples bleed or crack, try the following:

Reposition your baby. You want to have your baby facing your nipple so he or she has both the nipple and the area around the nipple (areola) in his or her mouth. You want your nipple inside your baby's mouth. This way your baby's gums won't chomp down on your sensitive nipple.

Try nursing for shorter time periods, but more often. Spread the time periods out means your baby will nurse harder as he or she will be very hungry.

After you finish breast feeding rub a little breast milk on your nipples and let them air dry.

Avoid using perfumed soaps or lotions on your nipples. Clear warm water is enough to keep your breasts and nipples clean

If you and your baby are swapping yeast infections use pads and change them frequently. Wash in hot water.

Most yeast infections are caused by the fungus Candida Albicans. Most of the time yeast infections will resolve themselves except in people with weakened or immature immune systems. Infants are prone to suffering from yeast infections as their immune systems are fully developed.

Other situations can lead to yeast infections in babies, these include:

Use of antibiotics. Though an antibiotic is useful when fixing a bacterial infection in the ear or throat, antibiotics are not specific to go just to the ear or the throat. As a result the normal bacteria in the body can be decreased with antibiotics leading to a yeast infection. Without the balancing of the bacteria the yeast will overgrow.

In sensitive individuals a dietary imbalance with a diet high in sugar or sweets can lead to an overgrowth of yeast. This happens since yeast's main growing food is sugar.

Newborns may also be exposed to yeast infections at birth. Many Moms experience yeast infection during pregnancy as a result of the hormone changes. A stressed newborn with its immature immune system can develop a yeast infection.

Often infants because of the warm often moist conditions of diapers will develop a yeast infection. The yeast infection is most often seen as diaper rash. (Note: diaper rash can have other causes as well.)

Oral yeast infections known as thrush in the US are a common reason infants do not want to drink formula or breast feed. Oral thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth. An oral yeast infection generally is seen as white almost cheesy patches on the tongue and gums. When a Mom is breast feeding a yeast infection will often show as sore or cracked nipples. Oral yeast infections in infants need to be treated by your healthcare provider.

Diaper rashes can be treated by keeping the skin dry. Using a liner to wick away moisture from the skin can help. During naptime place your baby on a open diaper and let the skin air dry. Check soon after they start dozing as many babies pass their urine soon after falling asleep. Replace the diaper with a dry one. When possible let your baby go without a diaper to let the skin dry out.

Avoid using creams with boric acid or phenols or methyl salicylate unless prescribed by your healthcare provider. Your baby is tiny and the doses in the creams can be harmful unless used carefully under the supervision of a healthcare provider.

No matter whether you call it chronic yeast infection or recurrent yeast infection, it’s a major life challenge for people who have them. Even with the numerous medications available, both prescription and over the counter, for many people it’s like a revolving door. One yeast infection stops and then when you least expect it another yeast infection starts.

There are many natural home remedies, which work fairly well with the occasional yeast infection. But with the chronic yeast infection or recurrent yeast infection you’re probably better off doing the one-two punch method. Combine the natural and medical methods for the best outcome.

The challenge is many people hear natural and think harmless. Not necessarily so. Every medication has an effect, as they are all chemicals-some man made and some not.

Why Do Chronic Yeast Infections Or Recurrent Yeast Infections Happen?

Chronic or recurring yeast infections happen for a number of reasons. It may be from a compromised immune system such as HIV infections. People with uncontrolled diabetes also have a tendency towards chronic yeast infections. Those using steroid inhalers for asthma and other lung conditions are also susceptible to recurrent yeast infections.

But by far the most common cause of recurrent yeast infections is taking antibiotics for another infection in the body. Most antibiotics are general type medications. The antibiotic kills not only the bacteria causing the infection but other bacteria as well.

Since the body keeps itself in a state of balance the antibiotic trying to correct the infection by eliminating the infection causing bacteria over corrects. As a result many people have other bacteria killed in their body leading to diarrhea and yeast infections.

The diarrhea and yeast infections happen because the helpful or balancing bacteria was killed along with the harmful bacteria.
