Hamasaki told fans that she had initiated the split, explaining that she felt unable to keep the promise she made to Schwarz, who lives in Los Angeles, that the pair would live together in America. “Since the Tohoku disaster, I have had the feeling that I don’t want to be apart from Japan,” she wrote. “As a result I have been spending more and more days away from him.”

“We spoke about this and we thought we could maintain our relationship by travelling to see each other, but at some point, physical distance becomes emotional distance,” she explained. “When I thought about our future, I realized I couldn’t see myself returning to the state of mind I was in when I agreed to live in America.”

The couple met each other when filming Hamasaki’s Virgin Road MV (Schwarz as lead actor) in August 2010. They tied the knot in Las Vegas on January 1, 2011.

Things often go beyond right or wrong in a war imo. I couldn’t see how desecration of corpses are any worse than taking one’s life to begin with; war is never pretty. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s appalling, but I find it ironic that most critics don’t give much damn about the number of casualties but all hyped about this act instead.

It’s unfortunate for the US troopers who risked (and many who lost) their lives on foreign soil only to have their reputation tainted by a few rotten apples. Incident like this is perfect propagandist material which could undo many other efforts.

It’s claimed that authorities “are handing down at least six months in a labour training camp to anybody who didn’t participate in the organized gatherings during the mourning period, or who did participate but didn’t cry and didn’t seem genuine.”

The news came from a pro North-Korea-democratisation-movement paper, so there could be bias issue. And there’s very little solid evidence besides citing some “reliable” (but anonymous) sources. But still, it’s North Korea, nuff said.

Everything looks/sounds more westernised than ever. Not my cup of tea, but Wonder Girls probably have better chance to make it in the US with this genre. I’ve always felt that it’s pointless though, for K-pop artists to make it big in the west by adapting too much to western pop while bringing nothing new. Perhaps I’m expecting too much.
