Beyoncé Buys Jay Z $40m Private Jet For Father’s Day

2012-06-20T04:38:00.000-07:00

FORGET a measly card or a box of Thornton’s Special Toffee, Jay-Z was given a private jet for Father’s Day. The rapper’s wife Beyoncé splashed £25million on a luxury plane for the new dad. The super-bling gift is capable of taking 15 passengers. Our source told us: “Beyoncé thought this would be the perfect way to show Jay how much of a great dad he is.

What do you buy for the guy who has everything? If you happen to be Beyonce and you’re married to rapping mogul Jay-Z you buy them a Challenger 850.

The pop superstar presented Jay- z with his $40 million private jet on Father’s Day. The Challenger 850 is no regular private jet, it features a living room, a kitchen and two full bathrooms.

This is the exact type of present that not only keeps on giving, it keeps on costing, the average flight comes with a fuel cost of $20,000 to $30,000 plus the expense of hiring pilots to fly the aircraft.

Extravagant spending is nothing new for Beyonce and Jay-Z, the couple dropped $1 million on a family friendly vehicle for little Blue Ivy and they built their newborn daughter her very own 2000+ square foot nursery.

You may also recall that back in December 2010 Beyonce bought her husband a $2 million Bugatti Veyron for his 41st birthday.

In January 2012 Beyonce reportedly purchased Jay-Z a brand new pinky ring with a blue sapphire in the middle. The $500,000 present was given to Jay-Z as he celebrated the re-opening of his NYC night club 40-40.

Aliko Dangote to resume as President of Nigeria’s Stock Exchange

2012-06-19T02:10:00.000-07:00

Aliko Dangote has been reinstated as the President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange following a ruling by the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos last Friday.
Shareholders of Forte Oil (formerly AFrican Petroleum) had petitioned the Federal High Court in Lagos to remove Dangote from the Presidency of the Nigerian Stock Exchange over an alleged manipulation of African Petroleum shares in collaboration with Nova Finance and Securities Ltd.
Justice Helen Ogunwumiju set aside an earlier ruling delivered by Justice Lambo Akanbi in 2010 which nullified the election. The Court of Appeal Justice also set aside order rulings which nullified Dangote’s election.

Dangote was elected the 17th President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in August 2009 following an unanimous decision by NSE council members.
In reaction to the judgement, Dangote said he was pleased with the decision of the court and would continue with the reforms that have been championed by Oscar Onyeama.
He said, ““You know the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had been running the NSE like it was an agency of government. But the stock exchange is a private exchange limited by guaranty.
“So, I will be meeting the SEC appointees on the council of the stock exchange on Tuesday and taking over that day.”
Dangote says he will reconstitute a new council for the Stock Exchange this week and the number of seats for stock brokers on the council would be increased from four to six.

How To Forever Stay Young & Relevant In Life

2012-06-14T06:57:00.001-07:00

The desire and effort to stay young have engulfed the minds of our generation. Despite our inherent desire to stay young and remain relevant in life, most of us will fail because we are on the wrong path.Staying forever young is not an illusion; it is achievable and many people are already living it.
Staying young and relevant in life does not come with cosmetic and surgical enhancements. It does not also come with holding on to power or authority in life.
For us to achieve the rapidly spreading desire of staying young and relevant, we must first be able to ascertain what makes us ‘feel’ old.

We do not grow old by living a certain number of years on earth. We rather grow when we stop achieving new things and stop filling those years of existence with new substance and value. Many of us feel extremely old and irrelevant in life because we spend all our time repeating the same thing. We spend a great deal of time confirming again and again what we already know. We are living our full life by simply performing the same task and achieving the same or like results.
What do you think will happen if you watch a movie everyday for the number of years you have lived? You will get bored and the satisfaction you will derive from the movie will fall down the slope each time you watch it. Above all, it will not be new (will be older) each time you watch it.
The above sounds like a waste of someone’s precious time to you if indeed he has to do that…right?
Don’t forget you are this ‘someone’ as you are living your life exactly the same. This is why you feel so old, irrelevant and do not find life exciting.
To stay young and relevant in life, you must gear your effort and strength towards learning, discovering, understanding and experiencing new things-what you do not yet know. This is the only way you can remain young, fresh and have exciting life even as the clock of years continues to tick.
Life is full of uncovered wisdom, knowledge and experience. Do not kill your existence by quickly becoming old. There are millions of new things to challenge yourself with, chase and achieve in life.
If for some reasons you think you know or have it all, then you must be doing a great harm to your own existence. What happened to the unending new stones to build new and better things? What happened to all the new opportunities out there waiting to be grabbed?
Life is beautiful, life is exciting and you can forever remain young and relevant in this beautiful life by continually building upon your knowledge and beliefs. Question your assumptions and challenge your achievements with new goals.
Do not be enslaved by your achievements and beliefs, liberate your mind and existence by chasing and building new opportunities as well as new set of untainted beliefs. This is the only way you can remain young and relevant in life.
Stop recycling your achievements and glory.

Kanye West Tweets Nude Picture Of Kim Kardashian

2012-06-14T05:14:00.001-07:00

It’s just been months since Kanye West hooked up with TV star Kim Kardashian and they already have their first controversial scenario to share with us…

Late last night, June 12, 2012, Kanye West brewed up storm as he reportedly tweeted a naked picture of his girlfriend Kim.
Yeezy shocked his seven million plus followers when he ‘accidentally’ put on his Twitter page a picture of a woman who has a very striking resemblance to Kim K, posing stark naked eating at a table.
The picture however does not give up the identity of the woman as she backs the camera. But attributed with the same voluptuous backside and curves Kim has, fans are already saying it cannot belong to any other.
Kanye West soon deleted the tweet but not before the name ‘Kardashian’ became a trending topic on the micro-blogging site. The 31-year old then tweeted a picture of herself and West wearing matching Nike Air Yeezy II sneakers.
Reports say Kim was mad at her beau Kanye for tweeting the picture and requested he removed it immediately.
Meanwhile there are speculations that the woman in the picture might be porn star Amia Miley. Miley also tweeted; ‘Im not going 2 argue about whether that pic is me or not.. want proof? look at the back dimple piercings. kim k doesn’t have though’.
In other news, US Weekly is reporting that the G.O.O.D Music boss is keen on starting a family with Kim as he want to marry her and start having kids.

Mr Sanusi who had been mourning the death of his staff who died in the ill-fated Dana plane that crashed in Lagos state had gone to Kano on Saturday for the installation from where he had attended another event in Abuja on Wednesday, before breezing into the Apex Bank, probably to check one or two things before leaving.

2012-06-12T10:50:00.001-07:00

President Goodluck Jonathan has taken a swipe at those who criticised him for awarding Aliko Dangote with the honour of GCON saying, the business mogul deserves the award.

President Jonathan made the statement while commissioning the Third Phase of the 5.25. Million Metric Tonnes and the ground breaking ceremony for the 3.0 MMTPA phase 4 of the cement factory in Obajana, Kogi state

President, Dangote Group of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote conducting President Goodluck Jonathan round after the commissioning of 5.25 million metric tonnes per Annum (MMTPA) line 3 and the groundbreaking ceremony for the 3,0 million metric tonnes per annum line 4 of Dangote Cement Monday at Obajana in Kogi State.

President Jonathan posited that Aliko Dangote’s entrepreneur spirit has justified the award of GCON bestowed on him by his administration and that Dangote has contributed to the country more than any of the other recipients of the award

“10 people have been given the GCON award aside those who merit it through their political position; but none have contributed to this country like Aliko Dangote so why the noise over it”

The President said that the Dangote group alone has provided close to 30, 000 jobs for Nigerians noting that all the other recipients of the award have not contributed up to 5 percent of what Dangote did for the country.

While taking note of all the criticism that greeted the award and his administration so far, the president said he remain focus towards taking the country to his promised land

The president also said the success story recorded by Dangote in the cement sector has prompted him to establish the Cement Institute which will kick off in September and will be overseen by Aliko Dangote.

FG commences provision of 370,000 jobs nationwide

2012-06-12T10:08:00.001-07:00

In an effort to address the high unemployment problem, especially among youths, the Federal Government has begun the provision of about 370,000 jobs across the country.
The Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, made the announcement at the flag-off of the Federal Government Community Service Scheme, held in Yola on Monday.
The project, which is under the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), is part of the steps taken by President Goodluck Jonathan, to address the problem of youth unemployment.

The programme is designed by President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration to create employment opportunities for up to 370, 000 women and youths yearly in the 37 states of the federation and the FCT, towards improving socio-economic infrastructure.
“To reduce the vulnerability of unskilled women and youths through exposure to income generating opportunities and to create good value systems in women and youths, through pre-engagement orientation sessions, ” Okonjo-Iweala said.
She explained that each state of the federation would benefit with about 10,000 jobs and every beneficiary would receive N10, 000 monthly.
Okonjo-Iweala, who expressed worries over the rate of unemployment in the country said that the country’s unemployment rate was still manageable, compared to some African and European countries.
“Youth unemployment is now a global problem as well as a big issue, but for us, we have to look carefully on how to tackle this problem.
“For example, in South Africa and Spain the rate of unemployment is now over 50 per cent each, while in Nigeria, the rate of unemployment is about 47 per cent,” she said.
She explained that the main objective of the programme was aimed at reducing the current level of unemployment and harnessing manpower towards national development aspirations.
She noted that the scheme had three components, including community services scheme, graduate internship scheme and vocational skills training scheme.
Speaking, Gov. Murtala Nyako, said that no fewer than 50,000 unemployed women and youths across the state were appointed Special Assistants to the governor, with each of them earning N10, 000 monthly.
“As part of my administration’s efforts to reduce the rate of poverty and unemployment in the state, 20 farming and skills acquisition centres were established in all the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
“Three modern vocational and technical training centres were also established in the three senatorial zones of the state,” Nyako said. (NAN)

Mubarak in ‘full coma,’ Egyptian government says

2012-06-11T10:55:00.001-07:00

Egypt’s deposed President Hosni Mubarak, 84, is in a “critical but stable” state, said Monday a source at the Interior Ministry. According to some sources, Mubarak fell into “full coma.”

The authorities are also reviewing the possibility of transferring the former president from the prison in southern Cairo, where he was moved to serve his life sentence on June 2, to a private hospital in the capital.

The state of Mr. Mubarak is “critical but stable,” the source said on condition of anonymity, adding that since he arrived in Tora prison, he suffered from acute depression, difficulty in breathing and hypertension.

Prison officials had indicated last week they agreed that Gamal, his son also held at Tora pending another trial for bribery, will be moved to be closer to his father. Hosni Mubarak has also requested that Alaa his other detained son will be closer to him.

One of Mubarak’s lawyers, Mr. Farid el-Dib, for his part said he “would take the Interior Ministry and the Attorney General responsible if Mubarak died in prison” without receiving appropriate care. “His condition is not stable, it needs to be monitored 24 hours,” he was quoted by the daily al-Masry al-Youm.

Saudi husband deforms ‘bad’ wife with acid

2012-06-11T10:44:00.000-07:00

A Saudi man used acid to deform his wife by splashing the burning liquid on her face, chest and hand on the ground she is a bad wife.
A 160-second U-Tube film published by the Saud MBC satellite TV channel showed the unnamed veiled woman suffered from serious skin burns near her eye and on the chest and hand. The woman related what happened to her through the film, which also included scenes from a Saudi TV episode edited by MBC to underscore the woman’s ordeal.

The wife said they had a happy life when they first got married before he started to beat her up, adding that he had promised her many times to stop hitting her.
“But he never stopped…one day he asked me to prepare dinner…when I brought dinner for him, he said he does not want to eat….I took the food away and stayed in another room before he screamed for me,” she said.
“When I went to him, I saw the acid bottle in his hand…I was scared and begged him not to hurt me for the sake of our three sons…but he said ;’I have sworn to God that I would burn you with acid…he then got up and threw acid on my face, chest and hand…..I yelled in pain and fell down…I begged him to bring water for me but instead, he threw more acid on me….I got up and ran out of the back door but he chased me and wanted to throw more acid on me…his mother stopped him but he said :’I want to kill this woman because she is a bad wife.”
The woman said her husband had abandoned her and took away two elder sons, leaving the younger one with her. “I want my sons back…he took them away and won’t let me see them…he left me this one and said he won’t recognize him.”
In its weekly programme entitled “violence against wives in Saudi Arabia,” MBC did not say where that family lives in the Gulf Kingdom.

I CALLED MY MUM WHEN 2FACE PROPOSED TO ME

2012-06-11T06:54:00.000-07:00

Annie Idibia (nee Macaulay) who recently got married to pop icon, 2face Idibia radiates anytime. Not unexpectedly, the new Mrs. came armed with candour.

Give us a brief introduction on who Annie Macaulay is?
I am a very simply person, an actress, a business woman, a mother, and a wife.

What made you want to become an actress? Childhood dream or career choice?
Childhood dream. I also studied it in school. It’s something I really love and I am happy that God has put me in a place where I can actually live that dream.

How challenging has it been for you to stay in the movie industry?
It has not been easy, but God’s grace and favour is awesome.

Aside from acting do you have any other business you are into?
Yup! I do.

Your life is in the public eye, what negative and positive effects has it had on you?
Negative: People are always in your business. Say what they like, true, or false … mostly false.
Positive: I get a lot of favours, a lot of doors are easily opened. It is my life and I am gonna live it to the fullest either way.

Let’s get a little bit personal. How did you feel when your hubby proposed? Did you know or have this feeling that something was up?
Awesome! You would feel the same if the man of your dreams gets on his knees and asks you to marry him …*smiles*.

After the proposal who was the first person you called?
My mum.

Where did you guys get married? Was it a traditional or white wedding or both?
We are legally married. The traditional and white would follow later. My husband and I are planning that. We will let you know.

Annie Idibia with daughter

You are a wife and a mother, how does that feel?
It’s a great feeling. I feel totally blessed! My kid is an awesome child. She brings me a lot of good luck. I have a great career which I love. A good man and we are happy

The crap people were saying on Twitter after you got engaged to 2face Idibia, how did you handle it because I didn’t see you lash out at anyone?
Why would I lash out? Lol. Everyone has their own opinion about our relationship. That’s their problem. The truth is it doesn’t BOTHER me again because we are very happy. We are not perfect but we have a happy home.
How approachable are you? Do you choose who you talk and relate with?
It depends. Nowadays, I’d rather keep to myself though. I don’t mean I am being a snob. I am cool if you are cool. I don’t have any problems with anyone. Life is too short and I want to live mine to the fullest.
From meeting you I will say you are a calm and reserved person. Do you think people judge you otherwise?
Yeah, sometimes. They misunderstand me. But then I can’t please everyone. I will only do what I believe is right and try not to get in anyone’s way.
A few words to your haters and lovers out there?
Would love to say: Free your heart and life from hate. Live a positive life and your dreams will fall into place.

A Koko concert is scheduled to take place in the UK in August with an impressive line-up of top Nigerian artistes.

Gunners agree £13m fee for France striker Giroud

2012-06-11T06:09:00.000-07:00

Montpellier ace would join Podolski at Emirates, and bit-player Marouane Chamakh could be the sweetener, as Gunners prepare for future without RvP

Arsenal are reported to have agreed a fee of £13million with Montpellier for France international striker Olivier Giroud.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been sniffing around the player who fired Montpellier to the League title in France last season – but now widespread reports are claiming a fee has been agreed.
Wenger has already brought Germany star Lukas Podolski to the club this summer and Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has promised further signings.

There have been suggestions that Marouane Chamakh could move the other way as part of the deal.
Both Chelsea and QPR were thought to be in the hunt for Giroud, but Arsenal's reported bid has put them in pole position, because it activates a £12.8million release clause in the player's contract.

Man arrested for raping 13-year-old girl

2012-06-11T05:50:00.000-07:00

The police in Ogun State have arrested a 21- year old bricklayer who allegedly had carnal knowledge of a 13- year old special child at Oke Aro area of Agbado Station in the state.
The suspect, Musibau Kehinde, a resident of Olorunsogo Street, beside Havaliah Estate, was arrested by men of Agbado Police Division, after the parents of the child, (names withheld) had reported the incident.

The parents have, however, expressed their displeasure on how the investigative police officer in charge of the case has been handling it, after the suspect was arraigned before an Ota magistrates’ court.
The suspect had reportedly waylaid the girl on May 14 and 15, on her way from school and had sexual intercourse with her in an uncompleted building in the area.
A relative to the parents of the girl, who simply identified herself as Adun, informed the Nigerian Tribune that the suspect had in the past been sexually abusing young girls and married women.
Adun stated that the parents of the raped girl were not around when the incident happened and the bubble on the illicit act burst when the mother was examining her clothes and found out that her underwears were torn.
The young girl was said to have told her mother and narrated how Musibau waylaid her twice on her way from school and forcibly slept with her.
The mother also reportedly discovered some bruises on the young girl’s body and she explained that her tormentor brutalised her before sleeping with her.
