When I ask clients what they do, they often tell me they give it a quick blow dry in the winter then flat iron it, but in the summer they let it air dry and then wrap it up and to keep them cool.

Flat irons

have become a tool many of us use to get our hair straight and smooth.

I typically use a Chi flat iron,

I had an opportunity to try the Hana Professional Ceramic flat flat iron with Tourmaline from Misikko.
Misikko has a full line of professional flat irons, take a look around their website and see for yourself.

One thing is for sure they do know how to package a product, every piece arrived intact.

When I opened the box it felt like a celebration.

It was so nice to see the attention to detail, very pretty.

As I unpackaged the box,

there was certainly more than a flat iron.

It also came in a great storage box.

Along with a nice travel case.

Did I mention it's

I love that I won't have to worry about the counter top or other items near by getting burned.

This could possible be the best flat iron.

It has a temperature control that heats between 140 degrees and 450 degrees.

That is an option I don't have with my Chi hair straightener,

so it is certainly off to a good start.

I heats up very quickly.

As you can see it certainly gets the hair straight,

now for the curls...

Did you know you can curl your hair with a flat iron too?

It's actually very easy with the Hana flat iron, it has an ergonomic grip and makes it very easy to twirl without loosing the tension.

If you hair is frizzy or curly and you would like to create soft curls, brush through your hair and straighten any stubborn area then begin to curl it, minutes later you have soft waves.

With Valentines Day approaching fast,

do you know a sweetie who would like this...

It's not that hard

give it a try!

Make two ponytails on top,

flip them through from bottom to top,

split the ponytail into two sections

braid each and as you bring them together the heart will form,

I secured them with clear bands-and then together.

Tie with ribbon, once you slide the ribbon over the bands they will be less obvious.

A Sweetheart Hairstyle

On damp hair with spray gel applied,make a ponytail and secure it with a hair band.Then invert it through the area between the head and the ponytail holder so it's sticking out the top (going from bottom to top) then separate the part sticking up into two even sections and twist them and when they are pulled downward they will for a heart just add another ponytail holder and ribbon if you like.

I'm posting this early so you'll have a chance to do it for Valentine's Day for some sweet girl!

The winter weather can make your hair feel like it's been through the ringer.

Frequent tangles usually need more conditioner,

gently comb through conditioner with a wide tooth comb, wait a few minutes.

Let the conditioner do the work.

Rinsing it out quickly is a common mistake.

If you are battling static problems

a quick fix is to rub a dryer sheet over your hair.

It really works especially since the static always seems to happen as your are running out the door.

To get the party started we began with

Sangria I made along with red wine and soda.

I prepared the following hors d'oeuvres

Antipasto kabobs with tortellini,

marinated artichoke hearts and olives,

the tray waiting to go in the oven is

artichoke with jalapeño and spinach in mini pie shells

plenty of olives, marinated mushrooms, asparagus, grapes and giardiniera.

tortellini pasta salad & Italian bread

and I noticed I didn't get a photo of the little smokies in a tangy sauce as it was still cooking on the stove.

The sweet treats in the center were

red velvet cupcakes with pink cream cheese frosting

as well as caramel macaroons with white chocolate,

I made some shortbread cups with raspberry jam and brownie bites.

Now the

Everyone enjoyed how fast it was to transform their everyday look into something a little more glamorous!

I am blessed to know each and every one of these lovely ladies. We had a wonderful evening.

A Scrunchy

When I'm out and about and run into clients

they often will say, "my hair is a mess"

and I assure them I am not checking to see if they fixed their hair to make sure every strand is in place.

I try to make sure my hair is presentable when leave my house,

but do think I've done my job cutting and styling your hair and don't expect it to be perfect each and every time I see them.
I am not that critical.

I think I'm only that critical of myself.

What I do find really distracting is when I have to sit behind a large group of people for a long time.

There I said it, it drives me nuts sometimes all I do is think how they should wear it, color it, style it, and yes brush it. It's apparent to me some don't even look at the back of their hair EVER!

Sometimes I am so distracted by hair I think I should get up and try to get a front row seat so I can pay attention to whatever I am there for.

I found myself recently sitting behind someone,

the only thing I could think of for the next
two hours.

Have you ever seen the episode of Sex in the City where Carrie Bradshaw is dating Berger and he writes a book and she critics it....

Yes, I am referring to the

scrunchy episode

I looked up the episode it was episode #78

{apparently I have a lot of free time!}

Here is some info on the show if you don't know what I am referring to.

Berger gives Carrie a copy of his book, "Hurricane Pandora." Carrie loves his writing, but gently ribs him for having a female protagonist from New York that wears a hair scrunchy. Berger does not take to this light criticism well, shutting down completely, and becoming very cold to our Ms. Bradshaw. While they are waiting for a table at a NY restaurant they are standing behind a woman who I believe had a pink scrunchy in her hair. Berger wrote that a NY woman went out with a scrunchy in her hair, Carrie argued that no NY woman would be caught dead in a scrunchy

and that it is only worn to wash your face.

well I agree

It's not the 80's anymore and when it was, it still looked ridiculous.

We all have photos to prove it!

So Carrie and Berger ask the woman what NY borough she is from,

she is so excited that she says to her husband "these people actually think I'm from New York"

she wasn't!

The point, you are out of touch if you are still wearing a scrunchy.

and yes I looked at this for two hours and couldn't get that episode out of my mind

Please don't wear a scrunchy

it really causes the person behind you to be completely distracted from what I am supposed to be paying attention to!
