Silly humans, we like to view things in groupings, whether or not said groupings relate to one another. So we'll talk about how our team is "such-and-such in November," even if November is just an arbitrary cut-off that's more to do with Pope Gregory than the fortunes of 21st-century hockey teams.

But a seven-game run away from home: that's a grouping that might just matter.

UGGHHH!!! What next????

Kyle Okposo has now been diagnosed with H1N1 virus. That's just GREAT! Who else will come down with it now. He wasn't at the practice today, but he was there yesterday along with everyone else.

Also out of the line up for 4- 6 weeks is Doug Weight with one of those elusive upper body injuries.

As Willie aptly put it.

12 of 14 on the road. The character test begins. Thankfully, the 7 straight are not all in one shot. There will be some time at home inbetween games 4 and 5.

Obviously it will give the team a chance to ‘bond’ a little more. It will hopefully create some more chemistry between line mates and others.

The boys will have to be used to not having the last change. Mismatches will happen – this will need the boys to pick their spots and try to make the best out of bad situations. They will also need to be more disciplined on the road, and not take the bad penalty.

Who do they have on the trip:

1. Washington – Maybe Alex the great will be back, probably not. But this team can be just as dangerous without him. Mike Green is also a little hobbling too. This may be an opportunity to sneak out of Dodge with 2 points. The D needs to be real tight.

So the Islanders played their last game at home until the last week of November. It's a brutal schedule that isn't exactly fair to the fans, now is it?

But at least they left us with a 6 - 3 win over Atlanta. Catch a few of Scott Gordon's closing remarks from his post game in press room 6 on my entry at HB.

But here, I'd like to put out a few personal musings while I wait for my wayward child to come home.
