I must say, I do agree with this. In addition, is perception and interpretation the same thing?
I will write the same thing I wrote in the comment box under this facebook status earlier:

This brings to mind two movies: Inception and Limitless.... I have seen both but enjoyed only one, then again I believe in realism more than fantasy and fiction.

Another comment to note: "Perception is essentially reality"...-friend of my friend.
I stopped to ponder this because this is absolutely correct. It sounds so over the top and wordy, but it is exceptionally accurate. Or perhaps this is my perception. One more movie to note: What the bleep do we know? It's a thinker for sure and perhaps a movie to be watched after the other two.

Cheers for Halloween

Just when you think I was gone...I return.
I obviously got over that speed bump. Not a whole lot is going on (that I can note) other than me just sitting on the sleep number (at about a 35) listening to heart on the radio with the two pugs and my sweatshirt. I felt the need to share.

I will also note one of the coolest websites to exist (and I'm just NOW finding out about it)!!!! http://my.bigcrumbs.com/ilovetubs

All it does is act as a catalyst between you and what you were planning on buying anyway.
The site acts as an online rebate wall. They give you a % of your purchase back in rebates. It just depends on what site and what you are buying. For example, if you log onto bigcrumbs BEFORE going to zazzle.com you will receive 12% back in a rebate which collects in your account on big crumbs....In addition, they might also provide a coupon code or two for your specific site (right now you can also get 15% off any order at zazzle and that is in addition to your 12% back rebate). Pets, travel options, hotels, business cards, you name it! Even GROUPON!!!!! You can receive $$ back for buying a damn groupon...

It's a remarkable thing (I mean who doesn't want free money??) and I can't believe I haven't stumbled upon it until now. I recently learned of such opportunity while looking for a coupon code for my magazine I wanted to order. Even better, bigcrumbs came up!

What's funny is I haven't done anything (physical) to feel so strained...
Perhaps it is my mental status that is working overtime?

This past week showed for a great visit with some great people.
I rarely see my brother, so he drove down for a good visit and we learned how to relax and do nothing....Again, why do I feel so exhausted?

We did happen to watch a movie (a few actually) and I'm not usually a big fan of movies, but I really appreciated this one.

It is called Limitless and stars Bradley cooper.
http://www.iamrogue.com/limitless/fullsite/index.html

It reminded me of What the bleep do we know, mixed with a tad of inception, and a small amount of Matrix. Whereas, it also had the realism factor involved too. Trust me, if you are in that dimension of thinking, you will be intrigued.

My next topic for discussion (and yes, I do realize I still need to finish my last blog entry...or at least the continuation of it) is environmental impact.
I have been thinking about this a lot lately.
If someone or someones are involved in your daily environment and say they are "toxic" in a sense.....do you start becoming toxic?
Ultimately, do you start to become them?

For example: a negative attitude, foul language, moodiness, depression etc...
I mean, let's back up for a quick second.
I grew up in a rather uncommon situation (I think) and although I didn't realize half of it, I was subjected to yelling, belittling, fighting, and a myriad of negative emotions. Does that mean I will always have that little beaten stone in me at all times? Even if say down the road, 10 years or so...I react in an outburst at an innocent person and for no particular reason? What helps a person get rid of all the bad memories if that is true? Is there such a thing as personality rehabilitation? I mean, hey....we all had crappy childhoods so who am I to sit here and fish for patronizing comments?? No way Jose! As a matter of fact, I avoid talking about any of that due to it's content and situation...
Anyhow, let's dwell on this environmental impact and shoot me your thoughts...I would LOVE to hear them!!!

Thank you Kris for finding my keys...

Tonight I have an interesting topic to discuss. I struggled with the thought of not posting at all because I'm NOT in the mindset due to fatigue and lack of carbohydrates today. Currently, I feel listless and am at a loss for words. I also feel this remarkable headache creeping about....(not good).
I'm not fasting or anything like that, I just happened to hit more protein-based foods for a change (minus the "simply lemonade because I clearly don't have any will power while walking through Harris teeter). Whereas, I do feel exceptionally proud of myself for jumping back in the game of physically pushing myself a tad harder than usual. A co-worker and I are in a contest to see who can become most "fit" by the end of a three month period. Perhaps that is in store for a blog down the road as well. Wow, I'm just full of terrific thoughts this evening.
My mind is a little weak and not it's usual witty/peppy self (I just had to fix my spelling mistake which originally came out as peepy) so, maybe I will just quit while I am ahead.
I'm exhausted for sure. I ran three miles on the sand with a tail wind that was pretty strong. This run on the beach managed to dehydrate me pretty well which I didn't even notice until halfway back (while stopping to take a photo next to a pyramid sand sculpture). I went to bend down to hide from the kids sitting in front of it. I didn't want to steal the spotlight from their main exhibit so I pretended to just bend down and tie my shoe. This is when I managed to consume a mouth full of sand the size of a large baseball. This doesn't sound like much, but when your mouth is dry to begin with and sand gets intermixed in these desert like conditions, well let's just say..I was parched!

BUT (and you should NEVER start a sentence with A BIG BUT!!) I did have that knawing intuitional feeling that I should go ahead and blog at least for a little bit. To my small amount of viewers who still cherish my work. You are out there, aren't you?!

To be continued..... since I'm fading too fast to consider any work quality enough to publish. I am a perfectionist and I refuse to disappoint!!!!

I should have just went along with this feeling as a red flag (captured much earlier).......

Tonight I went to the grocery store in my pajamas.....

Is it possible for certain moods to rub off on people that surround the person feeling a specific way?
However, now that it apppears i only

have partial use of the keyboard, I will make this brief.

It appears that i am getting back into my creative mind once again, so what better

place to reinforce the creative part of the mind? This blog, of course.

Lots of changes taking place in the next few weeks. Nothing too major or even

important to note, but perhaps things that will also keep the juices flowing.

I also need to start pushing myself a lot more than I am used to. When I say 'push myself', i simply mean just that. Stop the pussy footing around, find a direction, and just kick it.

See, i have such a tendency to start something and not finish it, procrastinate, give up, etc..

Not finishing something before starting something else starts to catch up with me and wears me out to the point of exhaustion. I then begin to question why i can't seem to finish anything or perhaps what I'm trying to avoid by doing this. It is simple. Anyone can quit or get up and walk away from something that gives challenge or is out of the comfort zone.

Is that really what it comes down to? Am I avoiding being uncomfotable?

However, she is NOT a killer, a fighter, or even a rough soul.
She is actually 400 % sweeter than sucrose, affectionate, born to love, and extremely pretty. She is pictured here alongside her little baby frog.

My brother adopted her from a "bully" breed rescue and this little girl was found tied around a stop sign because of her "title" and expected outcome. My heart wrenches when I think of such a story so I really want to stress how inaccurate predjudices can be. Please don't assume all bully breeds are exactly who people say they are. A lot of these little men and women do nothing but love and are never given a chance to do just that. Take a second and go see for yourself.

I love my Roxanne.
One, I tell myself I don't "have the time" but really, what the heck else do I do? Two: for some reason I have always had this fear of committment, which I never used to even want to admit. Now that we have it out into the open, I still can't seem to nail down a regular schedule to do the deed. I guess I will always be a work in progress. Three: in the grand scheme of things this is similar to public speaking (minus the public speaking). Since blogs are so trendy these days, it takes a lot in the blog world to be able to capture an audience, maintain their attentiveness, and also allow for a regular following.
A nice warm thank you to Howie who has encouraged me to "find and stick to" a specific blog topic....

After days and days (and one yoga class later)..I have finally settled on one and so...well, stay tuned. Oh and the new and improved updated blog shall include new features such as: easier commenting (without having to sign up), less advertisements, and an actual topic to follow!

Hate to leave you all hanging.....but it will be worth the wait. Promise!
.....almost to the extent that I should change my title to "Yes Charleston, there WAS a blog". At least this verifies that we are all under the understanding that I take my sweet ass time updating my thoughts.

Today I am going to introduce a new mindset of thinking...
Only recently have I discovered my theory that:
"You truly don't know who you are, until you meet someone just like yourself!"

Sure, there are other factors but how often do you hear someone say, " I don't know who I am, I'm trying to figure myself out, etc...."

I find this a remarkable revelation.
Therefore, this strikes a cord with me. It makes me wonder why we might go through life masking our uncomfortable feelings due to incompatibility's with ourselves and our mates. It is human nature to feel the need to secure comfort and consistency. Afterall, change is stressful, inconsistent, and downright exhausting. We all strive to secure consistency on a regular basis: with work, with our home, with our circle of friends and anything out of the ordinary throws a wrench into this little perfect way of thinking. So, to pull yourself out of a fradulant lifestyle would be most definitely be "out of the norm". People would inquire, you would question your decision, family would give more than their two cents, etc. Ultimately, if you were to go and step out of the box (so to speak), you may even experience relapse and perhaps even return to square one.
So, what would be the ultimate answer for a problem quite so intricate?
I foresee anyone experiencing these uncomforting feelings to go and make peace with themselves first. The word "peace" can be interrpreted in a myriad of ways to a myriad of people. So, whatever would make you feel peaceful within. Some describe this as their "gut feeling". After completing this step, you need to focus on doing something to benefit the situation at hand. Get your priorities straight and your mind made up and just shoot for the stars. Sounds like a piece of cake, right?
Not so much......In a perfect world, it would be. This is not a perfect world.
Whereas, you can make your own decisions and you don't HAVE to do anything you don't want to do (or because other people say you should do it etc....).

A light bulb or a blind fold?

So, I'm really not going to lie. Keeping up with a blog is hard work.
Not only that, it's a bit of a struggle since it is basically the equivalent to sitting and having a nice long chat with yourself. A one way conversation, if you will.

There is nothing necessarily wrong with this, it's just unusually unproductive at times since there isn't a whole bunch of feedback, my moods tend to overtake my fingers, and frankly: I run out of cool little things to talk about.
Not only that, but especially at 2 or 3 am. I'm usually ready to click that publish button a few short hours before some of you wake up to begin your day!

This makes me ponder the topic that gets brought up (by myself and others) on a more than regular basis. I often question the idea behind why some people prefer to be up at this time (owls), while others prefer early mornings (larks).
I once read a book that discussed the human individualism of circadian sleep rhythms and I would love to keep researching such a topic.
Similarly, it falls in the tracks of it's sister topic of today's society and the schedules people hold. I have met few people who share the same sleep patterns as myself. However, I choose to hold this type of pattern with my sleep for it works very nicely with my schedule. Had I known I was this night owl all along, I'm pretty sure my life would have held simplicity all along.

See, over the course of my (very limited) research, I have come to understand that I need to focus on things that will be mainframed in the late afternoon/early evening. I've tread water many times trying to remain afloat working anywhere from the 7,8,9, even 10Am ish schedule..but this just creates misery. After reading this book, I have learned that is because I'm just not "meant" to be using certain brainwaves until well into the afternoon.
This isn't necessarily a "bad" thing, although it is looked at as abnormal to some.
What really is "normal" anyway??? To me something normal may not be normal to you at all. Who am I to tell you that my interpretation of normal doesn't pan out to be what you are portraying.

I think as human beings, we tend to create an alliance with others that not only share the same interests, but also share the same schedule and who will be the most likely to fit into that schedule. There are exceptions to this prospective, but for the most part we search for those who can grant us the most amount of "time". Aha, there is another special word: TIME! Just so happens, the title of the book I was referring to is "TIME".

Something else to think about...because most schools and "normal" jobs are traditionally placed throughout the morning hours, we "train" ourselves (even if we aren't meant to do this) to maintain the unusual schedule and eventually just get used to it. I'm not suggesting that ALL people who work shifts (either morning or evening) are doing it because they have to, I am saying that I am willing to bet there is a lot larger percentage of people (who if they took a long hard evaluation of themselves) who may benefit just by changing their shift ultimately.

I'm going to leave it here for next time. This blog almost got philosophically displaced there for a few seconds, so I don't want you to think I was going nuts..(that's already happened!)...

To be continued next time around (not to be confused with a really good soap opera that sucks you in on a Friday afternoon 5 minutes before it is supposed to end....)

It's a blaze kind of day....

So as of right this second....it's a new day and I should be thrilled.
This is becoming a HUGE problem, so let's be careful.
Afterall, it is one thing we can prevent!!!
Good evening to all!!

Hunger pains make for good titles

This won't be too long, so I say now.

Perhaps it has something to do with the notion that my leg appears to be on fire (really just a lap top being held in one spot FAR too long), my stomach growling as though it hasn't eaten in weeks....(very scarce with the food downstairs lately), and/or the myriad of applications up bahonkis (pronounced: Ba-Honk-Ahs).....I have managed to just fill out.Whereas, I think I may have just scored a job application of a lifetime...cross ya fing-ihs (pronounced Fing-gers).....like Janet Erickson might say.

Until then, should I compromise my angry peristalsis for some newly brushed teeth??? Definitely not.

Good night Charleston! Until tomorrow: good luck to the (FAR BETTER than) our replacements (well, mine anyway) tomorrow : "Howard and Margaret"..here is to an even BETTER Saturday than last week!!! (that might be hard).

See! That wasn't that bad.

Peace out.

A wonderful world of catching up...

So not only have I been MIA, I've been fighting with a schedule of touring my own town, filling in the days off with chores, and working profusely! BLA! I mean, who REALLY wants to work that much??? Not ME! BUT with the absence of an automobile (still?! I know....lame!!!) and many endeavors on the horizon....well, I am prospecting needing lots of that stuff called dough.
Why is it though that I feel as though I can never start off fresh? as in on a new slate?? I wish I could just catch up with myself BEFORE a new burden or huge chunck of something was to require my undivided attention!!! It seems if I could give at least 100%, I would be much more successful with accomplishing the task at hand!!!
I wonder if other people experience the same thing? I'm sure they do.
Whereas, I'm sure adding other factors into the equation (children, chores, being married, etc....) makes it even more difficult. I couldn't imagine! I certainly have nothing THAT bad to complain about, but I do recognize the menial variables that seem to cramp the day to day flow.
Nontheless, something to ponder.
On a happy note, the weather is turning around ...with the last two days teasing spring in at a mere 65 degrees....One day I was outside, the other I was not...doing that work thing I was talking about earlier. Either way: I smell summer bliss!
I also plan on looking into another Master's program at a few local schools. When I'm not in school (or maybe this is simply psychological) I feel like I am not being stimulated enough.
In the meanwhile....enjoy the week and eat something healthy you normally wouldn't eat.....!!!

Nothing to do...nothing to be done...

I think I have hit a lull in my blog......more to come!

Not a creature was stiring, not even a blog.

Current mood: Feisty with a side of Bllllaaaa.

Not much to talk about tonight..other than....

I did chat with Mr. Bill (If you watched Zombieland...*EFFING*) Murray at work on Monday. He is a member at the wellness center. He came in looking for his trainer and we chatted about the equipment being moved and best of all, his piggy wiggly shirt. He told me its a great color and that it would look good on me!!!
Now that I've had the moment, he is like any other guy that works out there and I won't think of it as quite a big deal! I refuse to get his autograph, take a picture, nor even acknowledge (at big status) him since I would hate for him to have to feel uncomfortable like he can't work out there. I even ponder if this may be why he moved to Chucktown for sake of confidentiality and the least amount of annoying people that do things like I described.

I remember while living back in the ATL, (because that is what EVERYONE refers to it as)..we were out to eat at California pizza kitchen in Alpharetta.
We had just arrived and our server had come over to apologize for taking such a longwhile to get to us. Usher (as in Usher Raymond, the pop singer) and his pregnant wife (this was three years ago) at the time, were sitting two booths behind us. At one point during our dinner, I had gotten up to use the bathroom and even at this part of the dinner, I noticed a bunch of fans crowding the poor man's table.
They had their phones pulled out (this is before smart phones, mainly razors + flips) and were requesting he partake in the photos they were snapping, all while trying to eat. I'm sorry, I realize that fans are who makes it happen, but honestly..I was ready to send over a round of drinks to his table because I felt so sorry for him. Michael assured me, he was pretty certain Usher need me not send him a pity party of alcohol (although he did say it was a nice gesture). Not to mention, his wife was pregnant (NOT PREGOS...I dislike that reference as well!!!)

So, to be a "celebrity" must be pretty tough.
Which is ironic because some people strive and seek such a lifestyle (think Kate Gosselin...she is just treading water to continue with her acrylics and talk show appearances).

Going back to BM real quick, I have heard from other people (heresay, to say the least) that they have witnessed a majority of other members asking about him within ears' distance. I wouldn't be suprised if he didn't mind it for he seems to be a real nice guy, but I'm sure it gets (or has become rather) old!!!

I wonder if making large sums of money as a celeb weigh out all of the other crap:
The never ending disruption of fans, being on the go, minimum alone time, having to always run from the papparazi, not being able to take a vacation without someone up your ass, or constantly having to make up stories to "lie" to get somewhere. Is $$ really everything???! Another thought to ponder, another blog!

Whereas, I'm starting to learn that being alone (because I just HATE when people refer to it as "me" time)....is precious and happiness is all about having things balanced. Really, happiness to me includes being free from feeling rushed, or taking a second to be caught up in the moment without interruption.

Take for example, we LOVE being hosts since living at the beach. We love having people come visit, but it seems as though it is turning into Hotel Erickson/Bonds.

Currently the guest list is set at twenty three overnight guests while living here. This 23 is over the course of a whopping 15 months. I have people whom I knew years ago, didn't speak to us the majority of time we lived in GA, but all of a sudden need a vacation at the beach????? Although I am (obviously) NOT a celebrity, I understand and relate to the tornadic lifestyle and even on a small scale. Constantly being in fight or flight mode can certainly turn up the stress receptors.

I hate describing it that way and quite so brash, but at the same time it is excessively exhausting to host that many to spend the night.

There is the whole clean up before they get here. When I was a child, my mother cleaned but never went overboard. I also don't want to give a bad first impression..so we are talking major cleaning such as dusting, straightening, organizing, ridding of clutter, floors, bathrooms (we have three!) etc...you get my point.
Next, when the guests arrive, you have to make sure they feel comfortable, enjoy their stay, have everything they need and you are at their beck and call the most you can be.
Whether or not this includes taking time off from work, waking up earlier then normal (not everyone has the same schedule) or simply expecting baggage of some sort (children, dogs..etc..)......a lot goes into entertaining guests.
I would never say No to anyone (especially family) and perhaps this is my problem (again, not to family).
Like I said, we really enjoy having visitors (because at the time of arrival, Michael abstained from work for over 6 months...so it was simple) but at times it is so excessive and overwhelming, it becomes extremely unmanageable. It would be MUCH more manageable once every six months or so. That is a good turnover rate. Not 2 persons/month etc...
I wish I could muster up enough nerve to say the big N word!!!!

My New years resolution was actually to start saying NO! Do you realize how HARD this is to do???!!!
No excuse, no story, nothing...but a nice big (in a cordial way) NO!
Apparently it is quite liberating!!!!
How many of us feel the need to give a nice explanation after using that word.
I'm talking about using it for anything as well, not just visitors.
In any setting....
You don't want to hurt someone's feelings, step on toes, be labeled etc....
It's going to be tough, but I'm going to do it.

NO.

Say it again ; NOOOOOO

Don't worry, I'm not going to get all yoga-like (not that there is anything wrong with that!!!) nor will I start quoting lines out of a book. Shoot me your thoughts....what would you recommend to me for sharing a way to people when you have to decline an offer. Any offer....

Ok, enough of the bitching already.......such a somber tone in this blog already... what the hell??!

Some local events coming and going:

After a night of hard work followed by a weekend of Charleston "marathoning",
(No, I most certainly did not run) things have started to settle down.

Oh and speaking of marathon....here are some stats:

Technically, it was the first Charleston marathon put on (by the famous : Howard Schomer + friends) in over 20 years.
Whereas, there was a similar race last year, but it was referred to as the Riverfront race. They slipped somewhere on a news cast article I had heard after this most recent race and called it the "Riverfront race". I picked up on it!

...Feel free to check out the link for next year or at least to read about it.
link: http://charlestonmarathon.com/

I spoke to a bunch of people who were from out of town. I learned a lot by volunteering at the expo. I know in my next life, I will definitely work in a specialty field that involves working alone.
I may be good in customer service, but I'm pretty burnt out!!!
Some of the out-of-towners even seemed to know everything about this area already. I remember one male in particular on the day of the race. He knew precisely how "cold" or "warm" it gets here and was ARGUINGING with someone who eventually gave him the last word..This was his first time to Charleston. What's wrong with this picture???

This amuses me because these last two winters ('10 + '11) have been uncommonly cold according to the locals. I recall another guy that was running the full on Saturday and he swore that once he hits the battery (or basically, the point of the peninsula) to begin the race, that it would WARM up because it was down by the ocean. A native quickly corrected him by mentioning this was inaccurate due to the ocean wind. Not to mention, she was a native from one of the islands. She will know. I would love for people to get off their "high horse" and start acting like it's the real world!
Let's end on a happy note:
I did receive a few (separate) happy appreicatings from people that ran the 1/2 and full and who recognized us for volunteering and wouldn't stop thanking us!!!.

Another GINORMOUS local event coming up soon:

The Cooper River Bridge Run (CRBR)
I do not plan on running it this year. I had a good time doing it last year, but ultimately it was too congested and much too crowded.
Unfortunately, I was unprepared and didn't know much of anything.
Even the expo was pretty populated!
I will partake in such activities if I am invited into the press truck!
That would be exciting!

CRBR link:

http://www.bridgerun.com/

After all said and done....my main focus is to purchase a car. Perhaps I can start writing blogs and request sponsors to acrue $$ that way. Great idea....

The moral of the story (for tonight) is to say NO more often and start thinking of ways for me to utilize my "special" time. Gainingg peers and working as a team will certainly be of big help!!!!

Time foe a quick snack (hungry) and then off to the sleep number....Alas, ZZZzzzzzs
Enter emoticon here: *Sigh*

Subject: For tonight's topic I would like to explore the idea of being a car owner...

Body: Whereas, it wasn't until today where I stopped dead in my tracks and realized WTH??? is the act of being "without car ", really like waking up the next morning post bail following a DUI offense?

Continuing Body: Another day another COACH bag.
(Or hey, that's just my "dream world" popping out it's evil head. However, not too far-fetched from me letting myself "indulge" in just a wee-bit of extra pampering).

I guess when I calculate and frolic in the exestential savings of $147 total in insurance costs ALONE.. Hey, what's a little bag of swedish fish, a Coke from Costco, some extra rolls (multiple meanings here) at the cafeteria. EEK!
...JUST in the nick of time: the fat cells enable the brain and R/O obesity.
They both seem to settle after "Haven't you been walking yourself everywhere in addition?". You know where this is going......

Nonetheless, I appreciate things more and more and notice some advantages being overtaken by the disadvantages!

1. That feeling and loss of independence/freedom/uniqueness.
All other adjectives used to describe that loss of "spirit" you once had...I mean really, back when we NEVER new what to compare it to (say at the happy age of 16)...we can't be contemplative as much we are now. Now trending: Overanalyzation!
I do suppose I can answer the (ever so longingly) cliche : is it better to have love then lost, or never to have loved at all???
Let's not get too deep now....Holy smokes!

2. Living off the floorboard (For the older-hearted, this may sound a TAD far-fetched, however, I promise you may be in denial since this happens to the BEST of us) and having the most intimate of things at the drop of a hat...for example: dateless stagnant water that's been hanging out in any old plastic bottle since you can remember. Nonetheless, it's water and it's YOURS (and you NEVER know when it's going to come in handy!). Almost like having that miniature hard piece of kleenex that sits in your door panel. Every time you clean out your car, you swear you throw it away and really question HOW it keeps edging its way back into the car to begin with. Then again, it really isn't hurting too much and it's right there ready to commit the lovely jump at any given time onto the pavement or at that chinese fire drill.

3. Let's not forget an endless supply of clothing, shoes, or miscellaneous garments to substitute for those days of inclement weather. REGARDLESS of where one may live, this constitutes the need for a remarkable set of umbrellas, hats, rain boots, running shoes, and flip-flops this floorboard may have to offer in moment of vulnerability...

Closing:
You can curse parking, parking costs, parking tickets...etc...but please take a moment and smell the nice freshly painted lines of a new parking lot (next time it arises)!!! Until then, I might sound like I have done just the former, for it is precisely past my bedtime!!

Cheers!!!

Welcome back red headed author....

Wow, now that my heart is pounding greatly, I am thankful to finally have logged on. See, I managed to "forget" the password and I thought I would never be able to revisit this page!!! Enough of the banter...let us (not lettuce) begin.

So the holidays have passed and another couple car loads of people have come and gone.....the house settles quietly among the snoring from the ceiling panels . I sit downstairs among a great pile of crap (as in clutter and disheveled-ness) trying to brainstorm a "wow-ing" topic for this blog. It still lacks purpose and a common denominator (thanks Howie!)...so I'm thinking that this may be deterring readers.

I am thinking each entry should include: mental stimulation alongside some type of local event (be it a race, a festival, or a local happening).
That way, it will appeal to most, or at least more than being scatterbrained all over the place.
Oh yeah and happy new year (and decade) by the way! For some reason that phrase sounds so insincere and generic. It sounds as though if we really meant it, we should be saying it all month, and maybe 3 months into the year.
Evidently, this new decade marks some serious distress for iphone users.
The alarms on current iphones have decided they won't be working in the new year. My question is: how many of us rely solely on their iphone to wake them up? Apparently, there stands a lot higher number than I can fathom. Is this another sign that the world is being invaded by these (not so) smart-phone devices?
First VHS goes extinct followed by alarm clocks?
I guess I'm just starting to show my age.
Although I despise my alarm clock, it still manages to do it's job and I would never replace it with something who has a battery that dies every few hours. ....just a thought.

The penguin plunge/polar bear plunge or whatever the hell you want to call it was Saturday, January 1 @ 2pm. I had no idea what a big deal it was. We decided at the last minute to partake in the festivities since the cousins were visiting.
Whereas, Sullivan's island, SC hosts this annual event to raise money for the special olympics. I was very impressed by the amount of support that was there.

Upon arriving, we reached the sandy patch of the beach where we continued to frolic inside of a cloud. Conditions on the island presented with excessive fog and low air temperatures.
Once the horn was blown, the participants ran into the water which struck me to recall a scene from the titanic. The water temperature was running about 46 degrees Fahrenheit with the ambient air touching 55 degress (maybe???).
Furthermore, I had NO intention on jumping in, myself.
So, I was content to speculate from the sidelines! A great day had by all.

Coming soon to the Chucktown area (short for Charleston, since that is a long word and all :)...is the very first Charleston marathon....January 15th!!!
I'll be posting more about this later, but in case you would like to browse the website, here it is.

http://charlestonmarathon.com/

It is going to be a fun time with plenty of Charleston chews to go around for everyone (that may be a slight exaggeration). I will not be running it, but simply helping to assist anyone and everything that may need help within.
Okidoke, that is my first entry into the new year.
Perhaps when I wake up tomorrow (via alarm clock) everything will be backwards, upside down, or inside out...or even better, everything will be just the same as I left it tonight. I plan on becoming more organized in 2011, if that is even a possibility.

Hell, I take that back. I'm not making ANY new years resolutions.
Much like diets, resolutions end in disgust for setting up false hopes.
Just live your damn life!!!!
What do you have to look forward to into tomorrow???

Absent minded

Although it may appear that I've become MIA, there is an exact reason for my absenteeism.

Have you ever have one of those days where you had every plan on being overly productive (to make up for your last few at the other end of the obscene procrastination spectrum) but all while justifying why you should just stick to your new lazy lifestyle???
That is EXACTLY what happened to me today.
SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!! (And especially for those that know me well!!!)

Although, I can toot my own horn and report I was able to get a FEW errands done, but that managed to leave TWICE as many things to be left for my "To-do" list.

So, what would life really be like without things TO DO?! I will never know that feeling. Coincidentally, I am not sure if I would be comforted to know there is nothing left. Therefore, I have come to realize this may be one of many mechanisms to create a sense of comfort or "contribution" toward life. Almost a verification or an advanced way to "brag" in conversation. Whereas, let us not forget "to-do" lists can almost ALWAYS guarantee spending large sums of $$ (just think: grocery shopping, paying bills, meeting up with that friend you've been blowing off for months even just for lunch, etc...)...so another question that comes to mind: is there a correlation with being well off and not having many things to do??
Perhaps that is how being "well to-do" came about! How quaint!

So...when people ask what I do and how I utilize my many academic degrees...(Or in other words: What do you do with your life????), I will simply stop, looking as though I am pondering this for the first time and reply,
"Oh nothing, I constantly frustrate myself knowing that I remain far from accomplishing anything I set for goals on a regular basis". I really should try to simplify that in layman's terms now that I read that over because clearly, if someone said something like that to me I would look at them like this...

Another thing to ponder is perhaps I have unachievable standards and therefore, I should take it down a notch. Is this society's way of brainwashing us into thinking that we should be perfect all the time and leave us open for "failure" ???

Speaking of failure...Since I'm leaving on such an analytical note, I shall note the mini-book "Go For No", by Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz. The book is tiny (about 70 something pages) yet so insightful. it sheds a light on why it's OK to be "negative" vs. "positive" or to "fail" vs. "settle with success".

http://www.goforno.com/

I was given the opportunity to read this book at one of my current positions.

Let me know what you think!
Cheers!

I'd gladly pay on Saturday for a rental car I could drive today.....

Hello people.... (sounds so impersonal)
Hi Friends.... (still rather dry)
Thanks for stopping by.... (I've already let fame get to my head)

Good afternoon to my very first visitors.....(still not completely satisfied, will have to do)..
(and what a good one it will be AFTER I take a nap).

So this might take me some probable time getting used to.
So many things to consider, so many ideas to be had. It's beginning from the beginning.
Lying a foundation reminds me of being back in grade 1 when all you had was chalk, erasers to clap at recess, saddle shoes (really mom?!), and a best friend who sat next to you and ate glue the whole day (Jeffrey!).
Nonetheless, starting from square 1 can be exciting and although my first reaction is "don't I have enough to worry about at this point"...it's almost one of those things where you tell yourself to just hush hush and don't think of it as a chore, but some good ol' fashioned brain stimulation.
There will be no rules, no time restraints (UH oh, you early risers), NOTHING.....

"Virginia" will simply act as a little metaphor for the life of me...(and who the hell am I???), what I'm feeling RIGHT at that critical second, and perhaps some good quality bitching from time to time. Feel free to chime in, don't' ever hold back the criticism and NEVER hold all questions to the end. This sounds like the introduction I use for the crotch job...(Oh boy, we'll get into that a little later).

Before I continue: (where most sites would write "The legal stuff", in a cute but overly abused so not so cute anymore, manner.)

In no way shape (or blog) am I advocating products, names, people, etc...therefore, should you interpret such shenanigans, please know I'm NOT intentionally doing this.

I'm not trying to offend, discriminate against, hurt, blame, <insert>anyone in anyway. If you are sensitive, please know I am from the North where we seem to be quite blunt, Type A, aggressive (I've even been called Ass-holish before) and perhaps this isn't the blog for you. Whereas, if you feel threatened let me know and I'll do what I can to delete the info. which offended you...maybe.</insert>

Ultimately, I hope to offer nothing but complete sincerity mixed with a little unique charm. You know, another option to get those juices flowing (but for FREE!!!). Alas, please let me thank my cousin Nate who inspired the extra push after his recent visit to THE BEACH!
Nonetheless, I'm not trying to pull a Julie/Julia here (for lack of a better example)....and certainly NOT trying to make it RICH by any means...because really..what does that word mean afterall???? I'm RICH, I want to be RICH, Maybe I already am RICH and I don't even know it!

Every time I post, I hope to offer a little perspective on life which each "reader" will be able to take a little baby seed to sow and incorporate it into their own little tree of life.....(OK, enough with the psychological stuff)...

One advantage of "Blog": lack of interruption...REMARKABLE!

I leave you with this: Go back to doing what you were doing before this and enjoy yourself. My tip for your day (Other than NOT eating any snow that is a color other than "white"):

Try not to be a slave to the clock. Try going a good portion of the day without worrying about the blessed time.Half of what people do is driven by the clock.
How many of us have said "Wow, it's 2:30 pm, I'm hungry"..or "wow, it's 9 pm...I'm tired"..etc. Society is slaved over that circular thing numbered 1-12...and WHY?????

Some suggestions...
Drink some bubbly, go for a run, go for a walk, walk a friend, walk someone else's friend, go Good-will hunting, recite all the lines from ELF, recite all the lines from ELF on your facebook status, wrap some fake presents, hold a blow dryer out your car window at lunch (if you have a car) in a busy spot and see how many people slow down (an oldie, but good one).

On that note: It's a crisp 12:44 in the pm and I'm hitting the nap sac. And I'm OK with that!
