Have you ever failed at accomplishing something?

Well, if you are honest with yourself, your answer will be YES and you are not alone because every human being has one time or another experienced failures and setbacks in his or her life!

Usually, when you try to accomplish something, there are only two possibilities, you either succeed or you fail! That is it! You have only two choices, failure or success.

We all have been taught from early childhood that success is OK and acceptable and that failure is not OK and not acceptable. That is why you always try and do your best to attract success and avoid failure!

But logically, in order to avoid something, you have to know what to avoid? So in order to avoid failure, you have to answer the question, what is failure?

Well, I guess that you know exactly what does failure means to you, but I invite you to look at it from another perspective, compare this perspective to yours and see if this perspective can help you.

Failure is an emotion and to understand it, you have to start from yourself!
You have to realize that there are the REAL YOU and the ROLE YOU.

The REAL YOU is your self-identity ... your sense of self-worth!
The ROLE YOU is the role you play or your performance – as a parent, sister, brother, friend, colleague, player, entrepreneur, trainer, director…

When you fail at something, you have to understand that you as a human being (REAL YOU) is not a failure, yourself-identity and worth did not fail, instead it is your strategy, your plan and your actions that fail, it is the ROLE YOU that fails!

Look at any successful human being! What do you see? Yes, will you see happiness, you will see satisfaction, and you will see excellent results, but do not forget that you are looking only to one side of the coin!

Ask the same person how he achieved what he has and how was his journey to where he is now and he will tell you about the countless obstacles, problems and the frustrations that he faced, yes that is the side of the coin that many people do not see!

Have you ever asked yourself what is the difference between successful people and unsuccessful people?

Well, the answer is that successful people understand and know that the failures they faced are only the ROLE YOU failures and they use them to improvement their strategies, plans and actions, while unsuccessful people take their failures as their REAL YOU failures and use them to destroy their strategies, plans and actions!!!

You have to learn not to take your ROLE YOU failures personally because failing to perform well in playing

a role is nothing more than a failure to play a role and it has nothing to do with your identity and self-worth – the REAL YOU!

You have to understand that role failure is success if you learn from it and it is the opportunity to begin again!

If you want to succeed, look at your failures as ROLE YOU failures and take them as a feedback that you have to improve or change something and learn from them!

Once you understand the above concept, you will look at failure and say, welcome I am looking for you!!!

Although I am not a fan of New Year's resolution's tradition because I believe we can set and achieve our goals any-time of the year, I want to use this occasion to say a few words about a quote I found the other day while searching the internet.

Friedrich Nietzsche once said “Many are stubborn in pursuit of the path they have chosen, few in pursuit of the goal!”

Please do not proceed unless you read Friedrich's quote at least three times and think about it? What does the words of this short quote means to you personally?

You know, human beings are different from all the other creatures! All creatures are born with some instinct that guide them in life but human beings are the only creature that is born with a thinking brain, which means that we are the only creature with the ability to think!

Humans don't just react to the outside world as it is: we have the ability to reflect on our past experiences, analyse the present and the incredible ability to think and imagine what the future could be and again the ability to make the necessary plans that will make our thoughts become reality!

Remember, what Friedrich Nietzsche once said “Many are stubborn in pursuit of the path they have chosen, few in pursuit of the goal!”

Passive, Leveraged and Residual Income

What does passive, leveraged and residual income means and how we can generate them?

As clarity is power, let me define the terms used above so that we do not only speak the same language but have in mind the same definitions so that we understand each other better.

Income (according to wikipedia) is the consumption and savings opportunity gained by an entity within a specified timeframe, which is generally expressed in monetary terms. However, for households and individuals, "income is the sum of all the wages, salaries, profits, interests payments, rents and other forms of earnings received... in a given period of time."

Passive (according to wiktionary) is being subjected to an action without producing a reaction, taking no action, (finance) not participating in management.

Leverage (according to whatis.techtarget) in the physical sense, leverage is an assisted advantage. As a verb, to leverage means to gain an advantage through the use of a tool or efforts of others. For example, you can more easily lift a heavy object with a lever than you can lift it unaided.

Residual (according to wikipedia) is generally a quantity left over at the end of a process.

Passive, Leveraged and Residual Income

Now that we defined the terms income, passive, leverage and residual let us see in short what do passive leveraged and residual incomes means.

Passive income

Passive income is an income received on a regular basis, with little effort required to maintain it.

There are two basic types of passive income:

Leveraged Income
Residual Income

Leveraged Income

Leveraged Income is earning income or money through other people’s efforts that generate value.

Each one of us has only 24 hours available to him/her every day but some people have Linear Income while others have Leveraged Income! What does this means and how is that possible?

If you have a job and your job pays you per hour, your income will be linear as follows:

H x N = I

Where: H means hourly wage, N means number of hours per day and I means your income.

Linear Income: 5 + 5 = 10 (linear = limited!)

If on the other hand you own your own business and you have 5 people working for you, you will leverage of their efforts and their time and your income will be exponential as follows:

T x E²= FF

Where: T means time invested, E² means exponential growth and FF means financial freedom.
Leveraged Income: 5²= 25 (exponential = explosive!)

Residual Income

Residual Income is an income that keeps coming in month after month, year after year, from work you do just once.

For example you wrote a good a book, made a good movie, recorded a good song and you will get paid forever whenever someone will buy copy of your work!

All entrepreneurs make their businesses into a source of passive income.

Why do you think Bill Gates is so wealthy?

Because he utilizes efficiently the power of Leveraged and Residual Incomes.

What are Mistakes? Are they valuable or destructive actions?

Do you think making mistakes is something that we should avoid?

Well, it all depends on how you look at your mistakes and whether you look at them as valuable actions and tools to help you achieve your goals or destructive weapons that destroy your ambitions and goals!

Imagine that you are traveling for the first time from city A to city B and there are many road signs along the way from city A to city B.You are not using any Global Positioning System like GARMIN or anything similar!

Will you ignore these road signs and do not pay any attention to them or you look at them very carefully and act according to the instructions they are giving to you?

Yours are in the driver seat and the choice is yours!

Dr. Maxwell Maltz in his book ”Zero Resistance Living” explains the importance of making mistakes and why we should welcome them!

Our mistakes are a very valuable feedback, road signs along the way to accomplishing our goals! We can ignore them and blame someone or something else if we did not reach our goals or we can welcome them, analyse them, learn from them and use them as valuable tools and assets on the road to accomplishing our goals!

Each one of us is the master and the driver of his own destiny and we have the choice!
