Yesteryear Acres - Doodle Days

Is He Awake YET MOM??!

2026-10-21T13:11:57.583-04:00

Well it seems like Thatcher has become the Doodle doggies favorite human... Endless fetch, smells like snacks, drops said snacks, not fast enough to catch them and demand hugs ... A big 10/10 in their book!

Thatcher had the NERVE to take a long nap in the afternoon and the Doodles kept staring at me...

Chews ball intensely...

Is he awake yet??

No, sorry not yet Mav

SIGH, guess I will play by myself...

I have my ball

The really good throwing one....

Is he awake yet Mom?!!?

Oh silly boys!

You will be the first to know when he's up!

OHHH Thatcher... The doggies are ready to play!!!

Always,

Amelia

Has Anyone Seen

2026-10-20T18:23:46.340-04:00

I don't know if it is just our weird subgenre of family... but if you were to go up to *most* of us and say, "Has anyone seen..." and pause. I can say with 97.5% confidence we would respond "A dog dyed dark green??? She's about two inches tall with a strawberry blonde paw!" And if that doesn't ring a bell in your head you can be glad you don't have that lingering song lyric game in your head 24/7 and then go check out 'Quiche Lorraine' by the B-52's (*disclaimer, I have always hated the ending of that song, but it still gives a chuckle). So when I was putting Hazel to bed and saw Alice hiding in the lovie pile on her bed, I just could NOT help myself and had to have a good ole giggle fest!

Has anyone seen...

A doggie hiding in this scene?

Oh ALICEEEE Where are you!?!

Always,

Amelia

Junior Fetch Wrangler

2026-10-19T13:57:29.232-04:00

We got a real live Junior Fetch Wrangler here at Always Amelia!

Thatcher has been doing a LOT of copying lately, from words to routines, he's trying it all

But my FAVORITE one -although him putting dishes into the sink and helping with the dishwasher are a close second-

Is trying to work our fetch throwing stick to play with Ernie!

Ernie is sooo patient

"Errrneeeee Draaaaaa"

Aka- Ernie Drop

I never have to say "keep your eye on the ball to Thatcher, he's after it!

With a little bit of teamwork

To make the dream work

Thatcher is ready for his next toss

Come on Ernie!

"RUFF RUFFFFF!!! RUUUUUFFF RUUUUF!!"

Extra points for enthusiasm with the throwing stick to cheer Ernie on home!

My little Junior Fetch Wrangler!

The best days are spent like this <3

Mud Kitchen Mayhem Not Included

2026-10-16T15:13:37.406-04:00

Well, I found the thing that still can get your toddlers REALLY wet even with rain gear on... Mud Kitchen MAYHEM.

Mommy? Can Thatcher and I play in the mud kitchen?

SO sweet. SO innocent

Well of course little chefs!

Little did I know while taking quick pictures of our still ridiculously pretty flowers

And mediating sharing fights on who gets to stir the kitchen water behind me

Reminding them that there is literally water ALL around, I filled two containers of water, and there are two spatulas...

MAYHEM was in full force in the kitchen

Im talking BOULDER splashes, fights over the cauldron and

Overall gremlins in the rain behavior.

And WHEWW buddy was I glad we were outside.

After their "creation" was finished and peace returned to the land with the magic potion of kindness, we all donned new dry clothes and shared a meal of peace. Thank goodness for days outside and lots of comfort food for lunch!

Toddler rain suits can only be responsible for so much!!!

Mayhem not included.

Amelia

Thatcher Puppy!

2026-10-15T16:55:09.129-04:00

Welp! It is official! I have another puppy in the making! Thatcher puppy LOVES our pre-lunch routine to get everyone's sillies out before we sit down to eat. Tiny humans, havanese, and doodles alike- we ALL barge outside and get to zoomies o'clock!

To wind down recess time, I love to sit on the swing and let the animals and toddlers slowly gravitate their way towards me until we are all sitting and gathered without anyyyy yelling. I say "It's about lunch time! I am going to go swing!" and head to our bench swing.

Thatcher now goes "Swing swing! RUFF RUFF SWING SWING!"

And makes a run for the swing

With his doggie call, everyone now comes to the swing quite quickly

After all puppies stick in a pack!

RUFF RUFF - tongue panting for emphasis

RUFF RUFFFF Mama!

Looks like we have another puppy in the family!

Ohhhh Hazel Puppy!! Thatcher Puppy!

Time for lunch <3

Amelia

Let the Games Begin

2026-10-14T16:01:34.660-04:00

It feels like it has been ages since I have seen Maverick and Ernie really play together. It's been mostly independent play or mostly one sided fetch with Ernie with the occasional catch by Maverick.

But the first "chilly" day??

Let the wrestling games begin!!!

Getcha Getcha is in full doodle force

We've got floppy ears

And big ole puppy paws for booping

RAWWWWR. Go Maverick go!!

Getcha Getcha Getcha is back!!!

Another reason why fall is a PAWfect season!

Let the games begin!

Apples for Snow White

2026-10-11T12:35:23.281-04:00

As you know, Hazel is VERY into picking out her outfits and hairstyles, BUT now our character development is reaching even farther...

Because when I got Hazel downstairs for breakfast in her Snow White outfit and asked her what she wanted to eat she went "Something with apples of course! Snow White LOVES apples Mommy!" - And no she has never seen anything with Snow White besides a sticker book but she knows Snow White has to have apples! This morning was not the morning to crush her 3 year old spirit and tell her of the forces of evil or poison apples... SO

I got to peeling and chopping 2 apples, added some butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon and set it to simmer on the stove

And made waffles

For an apple waffle supreme fit for Snow White herself.

Because when you are Snow White... You MUST eat apples!

Obviously Mommy

Whew!

Always,

Amelia

Raise Your Hand

2026-10-09T14:50:27.407-04:00

The morning was crisp and fall was finally in the air. I could think of asking only one thing while we were eating breakfast...

Who wants to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house...

Raise your hand!

Thatcher: "Papa?! Paaaapaaaaaaa"

First we HAD to visit the swings

Hazel has been begging to go swing swing for weeks and it has either been too hot or flooding

Thatcher took this time to explore

And follow Grandpa everywhere

Plus the tractor

Need I say more?

"Beep Beeeeeep!"

After a fun Papa and Lala lunch we headed back home to do some doggie recess before naptime

Thatcher is getting all his steps in following the doggies with "Ruff ruff! RUFFF RUFFFFF!" and handing them sticks. His giggles afterwards are the best.

The dogs give his graham cracker hand sticks a 10/10

"Tiny humans are the best!"

SLURP

A PAWfect day

Spent with family - both human and furry alike!

Raise your hand if you want more days like these!

ME ME ME ME ME!!

Amelia

Nights Like This

2026-10-07T20:57:12.514-04:00

There was a point, a really long point actually, where I thought my nights would never look like this

Tails wagging, tiny feet, and everyone eagerly ready for a bedtime story

Even through the CHAOS that is getting two toddler GREMLINS to sleep -Is there a switch to the hysterical laughing running around not putting on pajamas that I can find? I want to both turn it off and dial it allll the way up

I am so so so incredibly grateful, lucky, and so proud of myself that this is my life

I never gave up. I never let my body give up. And now we have Silly Lullaby with Lulu

Licking Thatcher's head for a goodnight grooming of giggles

And I am so THANKFUL for nights like this <3

A rocking chair and heart full of love

Always,

Amelia

Live Out Loud

2026-10-06T20:05:07.972-04:00

Color is starting to splash all around us

With leaves transitioning into their spectacular autumnal shades

Why not listen to nature and live in full color too?

Hazel sure does!

We could all use a little reminder from time to time from Hazel and the trees

Find beauty in everything around you

Find your light

And let yourself shine

And once you find your unique YOU, JUMP all in!

Live Out Loud!

Always,

Amelia

Stick with You

2026-10-05T18:36:55.275-04:00

Thatcher and Ernie are the bestest of friends

From watching the deer walk by

To finding the most PAWfect sticks in the yard

Everything is better when you do it together!

UNTIL....

"Stick with you" becomes a little bit too literal for one furry family member

"Ruff Ruff! Oh No! Oh No! Oh No!"

"OH NOO! Mama! OH NO!!"

"Oh nooo, oh no oh noooo"

ALLLLL the way up the hill.

Am I a terrible Mom for laughing too hard to see before I could get Thatcher's stick back?

It's just the way he says "OH NOOO" instead of 'Uh-Oh' or something like that...It encapsulates the woes of toddlerhood to PAWfection.

Oh Ernieeeee! Bring back the stick please!

Always,

Amelia

Kipper The Dog Visits Y Acres Studio

2026-10-04T14:18:25.462-04:00

Colton let me know that his beloved Kipper the Dog really needed a blanket. He asked if he could come over to the studio and make a quilt.

Grandma - let's make a quilt like this okay?

We pulled many many many fabrics so he could choose his favorites

The glow in the dark magic forest could not be beat!

Time to pin and make our quilting plan

Colton opted for straight line quilting for all the trees in the forest

Nice quilting Colton!!!!!

The starry red binding was his choice for his quilt.

Kipper liked it the best!!!

Binding clips make great sharks in case you were wondering

Checking the final fit

It's perfect Grandma

Kipper says he loves it

Happy Y Acres Studio Sunday from Kipper and Colton!

Spooky Caturday

2026-10-03T14:32:00.310-04:00

Rainy Day Giggles

2026-10-02T18:27:52.498-04:00

Muddy rainy fall? What's new besides the (thankfully) lower temperatures!? Just layer on more clothes under the rain gear and keep chugging along!

And with that I mean put on toddler rain suits and look for treasures

Giggle run ALL the way down the hill

For some much needed monkey rainy day recess!

I know this looks like a real 'the hills are alive' Maria moment, but picture more of a screaming laughing monster dinosaur vibe and THEN you can accurately mentally place yourself here.

Coupled with "MAMAAAA IT'S RAINING AND IT IS FALL!

I AM NOT SWEATY!"

I can't blame her, Summer was brutal on us all this year!

My nordic babies thrive in the chillier months!

Plus with the seasonal change, we have even more treasures to find and collect!

Like tickle leaves!

We've got fall things to do and see!

Look out world, here we come!

Three cheers for rainy day giggles and fall weather!

Always,

Amelia

When in Doubt, Fetch it Couch!

2026-10-01T15:01:41.564-04:00

When you are a cute little doggie and you NEVER know what the weather is going to bring... The best thing you can do is come up with your own motto and stick to it.

This is 10000000% Lulu's

When in Doubt

To get your sillies out

Always

Play

Fetch it couch!!

First give your best "Will you play with me face"

REALLY sell it

Then do a really big Havanese POUNCE

Bonus points for throwing it yourself down the couch to have to fetch it again

I know... It's truly amazing

Keep giving cute faces to repeat fetch it couch until you are ready for your nap.

The PAWfect motto to live by <3

Not the PUPdate We Wanted to Share

2026-09-28T10:44:26.019-04:00

We have really heartbreaking news here from Yesteryear Acres and certainly not the PUPdate I was expecting to write this Monday. We will not be having any Fall doodle puppies this year. In all the years our family has been raising and caring for animals we have never experienced a loss like this. Our sweet Clover experienced a miscarriage over the weekend and we are extremely heart broken. We have notified the wonderful families waiting for the FURever buddy to arrive of this hard news and we are all beyond devastated. We strive to be the light that brings love and tail-wagging devotion everywhere we go and I am not only extremely upset for having this news to share, but I am so overwhelmingly sad for Clover, for us, and for my children as well. Hazel had a countdown calendar and everything just waiting for the puppies to arrive as much as their planned families were. We are all emotional and so saddened to be delivering this news. On top of our sorrow- because when you are down apparently you can always go further- Comet has had a false pregnancy. She was always a little behind Clover in due dates and experienced most signs of a viable pregnancy, fiddled around with her food in the beginning, then ate extra, tummy started to get round, her milk ducts started to enlarge for milk production and then she just stopped getting any rounder, and slowly she is starting to thin back out. And so with so much grief, we are officially announcing that we will not have any puppies this fall.

To all the kind families willing to wait for the best friend to get here, thank you for being so wonderful during a time like this. It has been an awful weekend and it is so nice to be reminded of the kindness and warmth that humans can possess. Thank you for waiting with us and for your understanding in the things we certainly cannot control nor would we ever want to have happen. This is our livelihood, our pride, our joy, our love. Thank you for your comforting words.

We are still planning on early Winter Doodle puppies. We will have Havanese puppies in early December AND as soon as Miss Ruby Lou decides to cycle, we will have our Red and Apricot Double Doodle puppies - arriving in late December along with cream Goldendoodle puppies expected around that time as well.

As always, we will continue share everything Yesteryear Acres with you, the ups, the downs, and all of our heart and soul we bring to our life every day.

With lots of big feelings and big hugs

Always,

Amelia

"Lazy Made" Sourdough Savior

2026-09-27T13:57:56.221-04:00

Hi! It's me again... Blogging about sourdough! I have an awesome Yesteryear Acres FURever family member pen pal! I adore her and all her awesome baking ideas!!! I cannot wait for one of our upcoming puppies to be in her home and be so loved and surrounded by homemade baked goodness! I look forward to our baking chats with sooo much happiness. She sent me a method for making "lazy sourdough" and I was baffled!! With all her epic notes and tips/tricks from trying it herself plus my starter, I was finally ready to take the leap of faith and disregard everything I knew to be tried and true in the art of making sourdough bread and make "lazy" bread.

So at 2:30am I started the bread process. I weighed out my starter

Added water, flour, and just the right amount of salt

Gave it a rough mix until incorporated

And put it inside an oiled ziplock bag. AND WENT TO BED

I left it untouched on the counter top...

No stretch and folds every 30 minutes for four rounds

No babying

NOTHING

Just okay... goodnight then hopeful bread

For about 15(ish) hours it just did it's own thing in the bag

When it looked poofy enough, I poured the dough out, gave it a quick shaping and tossed it into the fridge for another 12 hours

After the cold proof, I scored the bread and put it in the oven to bake

The GASP of wonderment that left my body when I pulled the lid off for the rest of the bake time...

PURE MAGIC! Look at that beauteous loaf!

WHY is it so perfect when I practically neglected it in comparison to the other loaves I have made?!?!

Sorcery!

AND I LOVE IT!

This entire loaf of bread was gone by the end of dinner.

Lazy sourdough has just saved our family from bread starvation!! I found out that my SISTER BOUGHT sourdough bread the other day because I have been too busy to bake bread.

THE AUDACITY!

Never again!!! The Lazy Sourdough method is a HUGE success!

Thank you Sourdough Buddy!!!

You have saved us all!

Always,

Amelia
