Long Overdue

It's been 3 months since the last time I wrote a blog. I've been very busy at school lately. Grad school is so much different than undergrad. But I think so far I've been able to handle it. =)

Update:
1. I passed 2 more sections of CPA so I only have 1 more to go. =)
2. I'm going back to Indo in less than 3 weeks. =)
3. I am thinking of going to Disney World again next year (maybe around March). Anyone interested? =)

I'm back!!! now I can blog more often... =P

Anyways, today is kind of my first day at the kitchen again. Wanna know my first project? "MIE!!!" Mie is noodle. I always want to be able to make mie. When I said make, it means I really make the noodle from the scratch. I'm a HUGE fan of noodle.. =P So when I got this recipe, I was pretty excited... I got the recipe from Hendry's mom. According to my mom said she's an expert in noodle. =P So when I went back to Indo, she taught me how to make noodle.. And today I tried it by myself and it was actually pretty good.

Here's the ingredient... it's super simple... =)

Today is my last day in Indo... =( *super sad face* But I thank God for the opportunity that He gave me to spend time with my family and also got some working experience at KPMG. I also got a chance to know a lot of wonderful friends at KPMG... =) It was really hard for me to go now... To be honest, at the beginning I was being so lazy to go back to Indonesia... First of all, I hate the adjustment part... you know, the traffic, the heat, etc... But when it is time for me to go back to the States, I feel so sad... =(

Big 4 Life

It's been more than a month since my last post. I know i promised to blog more often, but it's been a super busy vacation. (I know no excuse.. =P) Anyway, update from Indo: Indo is FUN!!!!!!!!!! especially the food part.. =P I told myself before I went back to Indo that I'm gonna lose weight, BUT you know what happen when you're here and you see lots and lots of yummy food... =P Besides having fun with my family, God gave me another blessing to work in a big 4 accounting firm.. My work at KPMG has been challenging... I still have a hard time adjusting the working hours, especially now when I get more and more responsibility.. When someone told me that "I work like 12+ hours" I usually just imagining it, not I experience it.. The work load is unpredictable.. Sometime you're free in the morning, but when it is almost the time for you to go home, you got lots and lots of work that need to be done that day.. But I still thank God for this amazing experience, especially now even though sometimes I have to work 12+ hours, I learn so much about transfer pricing, something that I believe will help me in the future.. =) And also thank God for my dearest friend, Lily for helping me during my first 2 weeks working in Jakarta... =) And it was so nice catching up with her.. It's been more than a year.. we used to hang out like everyday cause we took same classes and we also stayed at tutorial center a lot and of course BAP... =)

It's "SUPER HOT"

Today is my 5^th day in Indo, and I woke up at 4.30AM again this morning AGAIN. Not surprising cause I always fall asleep around 8PM. =) I hope my jet lag will go away by the time I start working.

My impression of Indo so far is “SUPER HOT”. It’s super hot until I lose my appetite. In one way I guess it’s a good thing so I can lose weight since everybody in Indo has been telling me that I am fat (which I am absolutely agree with them). But on the other hand I just can’t stand the heat. It’s even still super hot when it’s raining so hard. I just don’t understand. I guess Indo people can really feel the impact of global warming. According to my aunt, the temperature in Bandung had increased by 4 degree Celsius for the past year. UNBELIEVABLE! Moreover, the problem with the super slow internet is also become a major adjustment for me. I guess I am used to having a really fast internet connection in the U.S.

On the other hand, I am enjoying Indo so much; the food and the fellowship with my family. The food is so yummy and so spicy, just the way I like it to be. =)

Besides the food, I am also enjoying spending time with my family, especially with my little cousins, Owen and Han-Han, and my niece and nephew, Abby and Hao-Hao. Last time I went back to Indo, all of them except Hao-Hao still babies. No wonder they don’t remember me at all. Hao-Hao was not even born yet. I can’t believe it was 2 years ago when I went back to Indo.

A Long Break Full with Blessings and Joys

This has been more than a month since my last blog. There's a lot of things happened during this past month. As usual, ups and downs. =) But the most important thing, I felt God's grace and mercy was upon me. He guided me into a journey that far beyond my understanding.

This week is my first week in Indo after almost 2 years I haven’t gotten a chance to go home. =) I am pretty excited. Besides getting a chance to have fun with my family and friends, God also gives me an opportunity to have an internship at one of the big 4 in Indo. I have been praying for the opportunity working at public accounting firm, especially big 4. After about 3 years praying, finally God answered my prayer. I got an offer from one of the big 4 accounting firm in Jakarta. I am so happy and thankful for this opportunity.

Stay tune for the next update.. I'll post a lot of Indo pictures soon... =) I'll try to update this blog more ofter but you guys know how bad Indo's internet connection is.. =)

Wow these past 2 weeks has been an emotional roller coaster for me. Up and down, sad and happy. But the most important thing is I feel I become closer and closer to Him. I finally understand what does it mean by surrender everything to Him. How to really surrender everything to Him. Usually when I prayed, I said "God, I surrender it to you, BUT..." God taught me that if I wanna surrender everything to Him, I have to trust Him too. I have to let go my control and just trust Him. To be honest, I am a control freak. You can ask my family or my closest friends. I am a control freak. It's either my way or no way. But these past couple weeks God has been really good to me. He taught me how to let go that control and trust it in His hands. And here's the result:
1. I have been able to study for my CPA according to my schedule and I didn't miss a day at all. =)
2. I got accepted to SJSU MST program for fall 2010. It means I can go home next month. =)
3. I am not as stressful as I was before. It means I can study better. =)
4. I got to spend so much time with my brother and my friends. I cooked with him during spring break and I realized I haven't spent that much time with him lately because I worry too much about my future. And God also reminded me to spend more time with him. =)
5. I feel happier than ever before. =)

So what's my lesson learn? Surrender everything to Him means trusting Him 100% and let go of my control. It was really hard. I didn't say it was easy, but God guided me a long the way. He's always there for me. =) Have you trusted your life in His hands? Who's in control of your life? You or God?

Hopefully this can become a reminder for all of us to let go of our control and let God take a control our life. =)

Today was so much fun! I got a chance to meet and hug baby Maxie. I missed him a lot. Finally I had a chance to take a short break and met him for 40 minutes. =)

He wanted to go outside cause mama was cooking outside...

I told him to smile and this is what he gave me... isn't he so cute? =)

And we played for a while...

Oh no the ball was stuck under the sofa, Aunty Yeye...

And he saw my phone and was playing with it for a while...

Speaking The Truth in LOVE

I'm pretty sure most of us heard about this before. How many time did somebody mention to you about how you should speak the truth in love to someone else? At least I heard it a lot before, especially in my bible study. Ci Kiki has been a good example for me in speaking the truth in love. Maybe most of us has been practicing this in our daily life, but do you remember that the most important part in this is the "IN LOVE" part. Sometimes we forgot, or maybe sometimes we think "they will not know if you speaking it in love or you just remind them." I always think it that way until a couple days ago, there were 2 different people tried to remind me that God is in control of my life. I believe one speaking it in love and the other one didn't. How do I know? Because when I talked to my friend who telling me the truth in love, I felt calm and I could feel her love and care toward me. When on the other hand, when the other person talked to me about the exact same thing I felt very offended and angry. After thinking about it and doing my devotion, God showed me the important thing of speaking the truth in love. The truth that we try to tell will become meaningless if we don't say it in love. Sometime I think that the most important thing is the truth part, but God reminded me that the "in love" part is as important as the truth that we try to tell. Moreover, the purpose of telling the truth in love is to create the unity in the body of Christ. In other words, to make the body of Christ become stronger. If we don't speak the truth in love, it will create a lot of problems in the body of Christ. People will get hurt, offended, and angry. But if we keep reminding ourselves to speak the truth in love, people will appreciate the truth that we tell them. At least I was very grateful when a friend of mine who speaking the truth in love reminded and rebuked me. I could feel the love in everything that she told me. I put this is in my blog not only so people can read it, but as a reminder for me so I can always remember to speaking the truth in love. =) Hopefully this is can be a reminder for me and for you as the body of Christ to always speaking the truth IN LOVE.

"Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. God is the Strength of My Heart

As I mentioned in my blogs before, this year has been a struggle for me. There are a lot of down sides, but I've never said I didn't have the up ones. This situation makes me realize that my life is not in my control, my life is in His control. No matter how hard I tried, if it's not His time or if it's against His will, then I won't get it. But God is an awesome God, He always provides me with what I NEED not with what I WANT. He always gives me strength when I was in my weakest points. He provides me with family and friends who always support me and pray for me. For those of you who reading my blog and praying for me, I just want to say thank you. Your prayer means a lot to me. It gives me strength and peace when I am at my weakest points. Please continue to pray for me. Pray so I can keep seeking His kingdom first and obey to what He tells me to do. And if you have prayer request, please feel free to email me or leave me a comment. I will be very happy to pray for you. =)

Please pray for me so I can study better for my CPA, stick to my schedule and surrender it to Him. =)

Napa Trip

Despites all the problems that I have right now, God is so good to me. He gave me a chance to "escape" from those problem for 1 day to just relax and enjoy His blessings. Here's what He gave to me. For more picture, you can see my facebook. =)

And guess what, when I can surrender everything to Him, He gave me a "bonus." I got an email that my application will be processed soon so I can go back to Indo to visit my family. I miss them so much. It's been almost 2 years since the last time I went back. =) Thank you God! =)

When God is Incomprehensible

I think if I can summarize my life in one word, I will say it is a "GRACE" from God. I have an awesome God. =) BUT it does not mean He's never allowed trials to happened in my life. People always mistaken that being a Christian means you will always have a happy life. I am sorry to say that it is WRONG! Jesus said to His disciples in Mathew 16:24 "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." God never promises that as a Christian we will always have a happy life, but He promises that He will always be there for us in ups and downs. Isn't He so awesome? =)

I am in a very very very down point of my life. I feel like failure after failure, trial after trial are happening in my life now. Yesterday before I went to sleep I was questioning God. I said, "WHY?" And as I prayed and cried, He gave me an answer in my heart. I felt very peaceful and calm at that moment. He just told me "I'm here." It was the peaceful moment that I have so far for the past 3 months. He opened my eyes to all the blessings that He has given me. I was started to cry again. I asked for forgiveness cause I focused too much on my troubles I forgot to give thanks for His blessings. Have you guys experience this? I just want to share this so we can start to realize that His grace is sufficient for us no matter how hard the trial that we have right now. He's never promised that you will always have a happy life, but He promises that He will ALWAYS be there for you. =)

What a happy Saturday!

It's been a month since I posted my last blog. I was thinking about posting my "stressful days" studying CPA, but I thought about it and I feel I complain too much. So I decided to post my exciting day with Baby Maxie yesterday.

I told Ci Kiki last Thursday that I really wanted to visit baby Maxie cause I haven't play with him since long long long time ago (and you know the reason why I couldn't play with him; it's because I have to study for my CPA). Thank God 1 down 3 more to go. I don't know if I will pass it but, I tried my best. =)

So here's the journal of our "fun" day:

Maxie came to my place around 2PM, and we play "cooking" and "cleaning" for about 30 minutes and I saw him very tired, so I took him upstairs and as soon as his head rest on the pillow, this is what happened... =P

Yes, he's sleeping so peacefully and YES, he's snoring! =P

2 hours later... He woke up smiling and told me "mamam..." which means he wanted to eat. Since I haven't cooked, so I cooked noodle, spinach noodle. And Max likes it a lot. He kept saying more... more... every time his bowl is empty. And he ate like he hasn't eaten for a week. Look at him!

After that we played a little bit. He likes Brian more than he likes me. =( Every time he wants something he will hold Brian's hand and ask him for help. So cute.. =) And later that day before he went home, we went to Yogurtland. Maxie likes Yogurtland. He kept saying "more" and "enakkkk" (means yummy..) =P And according to Ci Kiki, Maxie couldn't sleep until 12AM. Ooopppsss... too much sugar baby! =)

Nervous: is it good or not?

Today is exactly 1 day before my GMAT test. Am I nervous? YES! You guys have no idea how nervous I am. I read in some random article that the reason why I couldn't sleep lately is because I'm stress, or the article called it "depressed." But I don't think I'm on that stage, YET. =) Just kidding! =)

Last night I took the full practice test, and guess what I got? only 540. It's around 48th percentile. Is the score good? NO, not at all. SJSU's requirement is 550 with 50th percentile. I almost got it, maybe since I was tired. I did it at 11PM-3AM when I'm tired because I had class at 6.50-9.30PM at SF and I just got back home around 10.30PM. But still I was telling myself, "Yeye, with all the time you've been spending studying, you should get better than that!" I believe most of you will get 540 just fine without studying or with a little studying. Am I mad at myself? A little bit. But I was thinking and thinking and thinking, and suddenly He spoke to me. Maybe I'm not ready to get 650 or 700. God protects me. He doesn't want me to make sin. I know He will give me just enough score to transfer, but not too much so I won't boast. =)

Please pray for me so I can just do my best tomorrow and whatever the result is, I know God is with me and He has a beautiful plan for me. =)

Emotionally exhausted...

It's been an emotionally month for me. I've been very exhausted emotionally, spiritually, and sometimes physically. I've been studied a lot for my GMAT for the past month. With school, GMAT, and CPA preparation, sometimes I feel so stressed out. Here's my detail update:

For those of you who don't know, I just recently went back for my Master of Accountancy at Golden Gate University. It's a nice small campus in SF, I just don't think it's the best campus for me. First of all, I hate SF so much (don't ask me why, I just don't like SF. Especially the traffic and the parking part). I think this is also my fault since I didn't go to take a look at the campus first before I decided to go there. To make the long story short, I've been praying about moving back to SJ. I plan to apply to San Jose State University or Santa Clara. Both of them have great programs. (P.S. I've learned my lesson and attended their information sessions and take a look at their campuses. =P). So far I'm planning to apply for the MBA program at SJSU and MSIS program at SCU. I'm still praying about it though. (For those of you who read my blog, if you guys can do me a big favor, please put me in your prayer.) =)

BUT the problem is I haven't taken my GMAT. Since the past 4 weeks I've been doing intensive studying for my GMAT (since my English isn't good enough). I studied about 3-4 hours daily, and this has been killing me so far both physically and mentally. You can ask all of my roommates, my schedule has been kind of crazy: sleeping at 4.30AM and wake up around 11AM). I don't remember how many times I was crying by myself at 3 in the morning when my roommates were sleeping upstairs. I want to do well for my GMAT so I've been trying to push myself beyond my limit. And it doesn't work. I've been very negative lately and always thinking "What if I'm trying my best but my best isn't good enough?" So starting from Saturday, I decided to give myself a break. I decided not even touching my GMAT book on Saturday and Sunday. It feels good, I feel so much better now. Instead of being so negative about my GMAT test, now I will surrender it all to Him. I believe He has a plan for me. If my GMAT score isn't high enough, maybe He has another plan for me to stay at GGU. I believe He knows best for me. Btw, I will take my GMAT on Jan 27, so this is another prayer request from me. =)

Besides, I've to start studying for my CPA (since I've already paid for it =P). I guess 1 step at a time. Now I will just focus myself on my GMAT and after that, I'll make another study schedule for my CPA. =)

I just want to share my favorite bible verse that always become a source of strength for me:

What have I done for Him to glorify His name?

I saw this video couple minutes ago because Ci Kiki was posting it on her facebook. I was crying as I watched this video. It's very touching and I was amazed by what Pa Budi does. And at the end of the day, I believe Jesus name will be glorified by what Pa Budi does. After I watched this video, I talked to myself "What have I done for Him to glorify His name?" I realize this year I've been complaining a lot to Him instead of giving thanks or take an action to glorify His name. I've always been focusing on the negative side but forgot to count my blessings and be thankful of His faithfulness in my life. As my prayer for this Christmas, I pray to God to be able to learn to count His blessings and be thankful for every single thing that He allows to happen in my life. I believe He has a plan for me, a plan that far beyond my expectation and I want to trust Him and love Him more and more everyday. Amen. =) May you have a blessed Christmas this year! =) And please pray for Pa Budi, his family, and his ministry. Egg Tart

Egg tart is my favorite dessert, especially the one in china town SF (Golden Gate Bakery) yummmm.... =) So yesterday I was thinking about making egg tart since I just got a new mini tart pan. And here's the result. Ci Nana said it needs more sugar. And also I think the crust is too hard. I need to do more experiment to get the crust that I want. =)

Kathy's Bridal Shower

2 months ago, Vicky asked me if I can cooked something for Kathy's bridal shower. And I said of course since Kathy is a good friend of mine and I like to cook. =) So I decided to make these:

I was happy because everybody enjoyed it and some of them even wanted to go. =) Overall I was so happy for Kathy and I was happy because everybody liked the food. =)

Baileys Tiramisu

This is the second time I tried to experiment with making tiramisu. And this time it's mush more yummy than the first one (at least most people who tried it said that =P). So here's the recipe:

Ingredients for cream mixture:

4 egg yolks

5-6 tbs of sugar

1/4 cups of Marsala wine

2-3 tbs Baileys

350-400 ml of heavy whip cream

12 oz mascarpone cheese (I used tiramisu mascarpone cheese - you can find it at Safeway)

Ingredients for coffee mixture:

2 cups of strong coffee

4-5 tbs of sugar

1/2 cups of Marsala wine

And this time I used chocolate sponge cake instead of ladyfingers and it turned out to be much much better and not soggy. =)

So here's how to make it. First mix the egg yolks with sugar with mixer until it's getting thicker. Boil it under medium heat for about 5 minutes (you can use double boiler, but you can just use medium heat instead) and add the Marsala wine. After 5 minutes, take it out and put the bowl in the cold water to bring down the temperature. Stir the mascarpone cheese in separate bowl until it smooth. Put the egg yolks, sugar and rum mixture into mascarpone cheese and keep stirring it until smooth. Meanwhile, mix the whip cream with mixer and Baileys until it gets thicker. Put the whip cream into the mascarpone cheese mixture.

Mix all the coffee mix ingredients and heavily brush the sponge cake with it so you can get the coffee flavor put into the container. After you put the first layer of the sponge cake, put the cream mixture on top of it. And put another layer of sponge cake. And last but not least put another layer of cream mixture. Put in the refrigerator over night (about 8 hours), and the next day, put the cocoa powder on top of it and you can use ladyfingers around the cake to decorate it (but it's optional). Enjoy! =)

As I mention before, I really wanted to use my time wisely. So here's the application: I cleaned my house. I used to live in 2 bedroom apartment and I cleaned it up all the time, so I thought I can do this too. BUT it turned out to be harder than I thought it would be since I live in townhouse now so there's more space that I need to clean up. =P

So, after 2 days cleaning it up, here's the result:

This is our kitchen (which is basically my territory =P)

I also vacuumed my house for about 2 hours since i need to vacuum the second and third level PLUS the stairs from first to second level and from second to third level. It was very tiring, but after I finish cleaning it up, there's a sense of accomplishment that make me happy. =)
