Mold Mildew Fungus

Mold and mildew are simple microscopic organisms that thrive in a moist environment. Such fungus are essential aspects for the ecosystem. Molds ensure the decaying of leaves and enrichment of soil. Mold has the inherent quality of destroying organic content. Molds digest organic material and also reproduce and feed on adjacent organic material. Molds have the ability to spread over a large area unless such growth is restricted. Mildew and molds mainly affect people when it begins to take form on wood products, cardboard, wall paper, fabric, foods, plants, insulation, tiles and any other decaying matter. Mold and mildew set up base in a moist environment at a rapid speed. Molds establish and grow on damp surfaces within a short span of twenty four to forty eight hours. As they grow they reproduce tiny, lightweight spores that travel through air. Inhalation of such mold spores can cause adverse health conditions. This makes mold inhalation a problem for some people.

Mold And Mildew Symptoms

Typical symptoms associated with mold inhalation are eye irritation, nasal congestion, respiratory problems and skin irritations. Open cuts and wounds can increase the risks of contracting mold infections. Inhaling contaminated air also poses severe health disorders. Inhaling such spores can cause the spores to establish colonies within the human body. Even dead mold spores are likely to act as toxic triggers. Certain yoga asanas help drain mucus from the lungs and the nose. Mold allergy symptoms can be treated by the neti asana. This asana helps inhale saline solution through one nostril and exhale the same through the other to relieve congestion. It is important to practice this exercise with the help of a professional yoga trainer. Mold allergy can also be treated by certain foods that help direct the energy flow of the body. Macrobiotic shiatsu prescribes certain foods such as lotus plaster and lotus root plug. Intake of certain Vitamins such as Vitamin A, C, B5, B12 and E are essential nutrients that helps treat mold allergy. Certain herbal remedies also act as natural antihistamines such as burdock, marshmallow root and goldenseal root.

Mold Mildew Treatment And Remediation

Preventing such mold formation is the key to avoiding health disorders. Check leaks and damp areas that can cause the formation of molds inside the house. It is advisable to rebuild or retrofit employing water resistant materials such as stones, tiles and waterproof wallboard. Ensure fabrics are always kept clean and dry at all times. Clean fabric items should also be kept in ventilated areas. Dehumidifiers, fans and open windows can help reduce moisture. Avoid using fans if mold formation exists on any surface. Disinfect areas likely to be damp such as bathroom, laundry and mechanical room.

What Is Black Eye

A black eye is a simple case of having a bruise. A bruise is basically a collection of blood that has pooled under the skin as a result of some kind of blunt object coming into forceful traumatic contact with it. This is not something to worry about though you would be sporting a ‘shiner’ for some days. There might also be some pain in the area, which you would need to attend to but overall you needn’t worry about any other health hazards.

Treatment To Reduce Swelling

When the body suffers some kind of damage, the usually progression of events I blood clotting, clearing of the wound by phagocytes, rebuilding the vascular system and finally replacement of the skin tissue. In your case, apart from the blood clotting and rebuilding of the skin tissue, every other process would continue as normal. You would have to use a combination of warm and cold compresses to heal this wound and get rid of the black eye. The cold compress should be used to reduce the swelling and inflammation. When this reduces, start using a warm compress to improve the circulation and heal the area. Since most of the damage done is under the skin, there is little in the form of intervention that you have to undertake.

If your reference to a black eye is, however, related to hyperpigmentation of the skin around the eye, then the treatment is completely different. Hyperpigmentation is a result of too much melanin, the skin pigment, in the skin around the eyes. This can sometimes happen as a result of a condition called melasma, though it rarely happens around the eyes. What you need to do is to start exfoliating and bleaching the area. Exfoliate your skin with a salicylic acid face wash. This works by breaking down the binding skin proteins making it easier to simply wash off. After this procedure, take a vitamin C rich mixture and apply it to the skin to bleach it. Some effective sources of vitamin C in nature are lemons, onions, and strawberries. Since these can be quite cumbersome to create at home, you should be able to get a strawberry extract face cream or face wash, which will also serve your needs well. From a dietary perspective, it is important to increase your intake of vitamin C from citrus fruits, azelaic acid from wheat and rye, and vitamin E from seafood and leafy green vegetables.

Causes Of Mouth Sores

A mouth sore could be caused by any number of reasons like mechanical injury, allergies, reflux of stomach acids, and the use of some kinds of drugs. Whatever the reason is, you need to ensure that the causative factor for the damage does not prevail. Mechanical injury is one of the most common reasons for sores and ulcers and happens when you eat food that might have sharp edges that tear the tender skin of the mouth. Chewing sometimes also can cause this problem. Allergies have a general effect of causing inflammations in the oddest of places. If you ate something that you might be allergic to, or if you see a trend between certain things that you eat and ulcers developing, then you might want to start staying away from that type of food. The same principle applies to drugs as well. It is worth noting that a deficiency of vitamin C also has this effect on people in a disease called scurvy.

Treatment For Mouth Sores

Treating a condition like this can take some time because the oral mucosa is a wet zone and a wound cannot dry out here. The first thing that you need to do is to get rid of any infected dead tissue in the sore by using a hydrogen peroxide mouthwash. Hydrogen peroxide works at two levels to clean the wound of any debris and to disinfect a wound. Take a swing of some hydrogen peroxide and swill it in your mouth before spitting it out completely. Since this area of the mouth is completely wet all the time, you need to force air into the wound every now and then by breathing through your mouth for five minutes every now and then.

To soothe the wound, take an ice cube into your mouth and try to maneuver the cube over the area of the ulceration. Cold has the wonderful ability to reduce inflammation and consequently pain in any part of the body. After this cold compress, you should then sip some warm milk ensuring that the liquid washes over the area. Since some of the problems of ulceration are caused due to some kind of allergy in the rest of the gastrointestinal tract, ensure that drink lots of ginger ale or add more ginger into your diet. To cleanse your colon, take a laxative like milk of magnesia or aloe vera juice and change your diet to a liquid one until the sore disappears.

What can we do at home to reduce intestinal cystitis pain?

The condition that you have described is not completely correct in its nomenclature. The correct term is interstitial cystitis. Do not be fooled by the name into thinking that the disease has something to do with a cyst; rather, the condition is rather one of painful urination, urinary incontinence, frequent urination, and even urination at night. This is a very problematic disease for most sufferers and because there is much debate as to the cause of this problem, there are no definitive cures for the problem. The causes for the disease have been isolated to being one of the possible reasons: autoimmunity, allergy, genetics, and neurologic. Neurological reasons are perhaps the strangest reasons at play and it has been noticed that people who have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or OCD and other anxiety related disorders are prone to getting this disease. There are a number of drugs and treatments that are used for treating interstitial cystitis and this along with the other therapies have to be used in consonance.

Treatment To Reduce intestinal cystitis pain

The mechanism of the disease starts with the degradation of the urothelium. This is the topmost layer of tissue in the urinary bladder. Some kind of trigger, related to the causes listed above, causes this lining to degrade and the urine to seep into the surrounding tissue. When this happens, inflammation and pain take place, which is the reason for the painful urination as well as vaginal pain in women. Men can even get a radiating pain in the tips of their penises. The predominant theory of genetics being a causative factor has been bolstered by the discovery of certain genes that are responsible for not creating the cells of the bladder – basically, a genetic defect. Another important point to note is that there is a body process called neurogenic inflammation. This is when the nervous system signals the body to start an inflammation, which further causes the urothelium to degrade.

Treating this condition requires the suppression of the immune system response as well as replacing the lost or missing urothelium. Some of the drugs that are used are antihistamines to quell the inflammatory response and the use of antidepressants to quell the neurogenic inflammatory signal. Drugs that help create urothelial lining are sodium hyaluronate (popularly used in cosmetics) and chondroitin (made from animal cartilage). Diets have a role to play in the problem but there is no standard consensus on which set of foods are directly the root of the problem; therefore, any dietary modifications should be made after eliminating foods that do cause an increase in symptoms.

How To Treat Smashed Finger

A smashed finger represents a couple of problems. First, there is the obvious damage to tissue that has occurred. The other problem is that of infection and finally, there is the pain that you have to go through. One final concern that does arise is any damage to your nail or nail bed. A problem here could take a really long time to heal and disappear. Additionally, if you have damaged your nail, you would need to visit a doctor as this might require removal of the nail.

It is important at this juncture that you understand how the healing process works. When any part of the body is injured, like the skin, the first thing that occurs is bleeding and clotting. Clotting is the natural process of sealing a wound. Once the clotting is complete, the work of destroying bacteria and clearing out dead tissue begins. This is done by the white blood cells of the body. It is during this time that inflammation and swelling occurs. Inflammation is an immune system reaction to defend the body against foreign bodies and bacteria. The process consists of swelling, mucus creation, and increased blood flow. All these help the white blood cells better access to the area of injury to clean the wound. After the wound is cleaned, the circulation in the area is rebuilt. Finally, fresh skin protein called collagen is laid down and cells at the edge of wound die programmatically. In the process, they tighten the skin over the area and the wounded looks like a fresh piece of skin.

First Aid To Reduce Pain

Treating your smashed finger requires that you immediately reduce the pain. The best way to do this is to apply a cold compress or dip your finger in ice water to reduce the pain. The next part is to ensure that there is no infection of the wound. Disinfect the area by applying some kind of essential oil like lavender, tea tree, or sandalwood oil. Alternatively, you could also so use any kind of alcohol as well. If your nail is damaged then you need to bandage it down until it comes to the front of your nail bed where it can be normally cut off. This is a long and protracted procedure which you will have to undergo. Remember to continuously clean the wound with some hydrogen peroxide and help the body in getting rid of dead tissue.

I am having hair loss, please suggest some helpful diets and food habits to avoid it

Hair loss and how to treat it depends almost completely on what sex you are. This is because the reasons for pattern baldness in men and women are different and completely different in their onset. While men could face this problem from as early an age as twenty, women will only face this problem as a result of age. This is because of the play of hormones in a man’s body that can end up making his hair fall off. Treating hair loss is a protracted and complicated set of procedures that could end up taking many months and in some cases years to correct; therefore, start working on this today.

What Causes Hair Loss

Female hair loss is usually caused by any number of conditions that range from dietary problems, pregnancy, thyroid over or under-expression, vitamin deficiency, and mechanical stresses on hair. Male pattern baldness, however, is a rather simpler issue. Men have two main hormones that control the male characteristics and libido: testosterone and dihydrotestosterone or DHT. DHT is a result of the syntheses of testosterone into a more powerful form and is a powerful sex hormone. A side effect of high levels of this hormone is an accumulation of DHT in the hair follicles that call it to fall off. Typically, hair does fall off as part of its life cycle of growth and death and this can be seen in hair that falls off with a black bulbous root. If the hair falls off with white tip, which is its sebaceous gland, then this is a sign of male pattern balding on its way. Treating male pattern balding could take years and cannot be attacked with simple home remedies.

Hair Loss Prevention With Diet And Vitamins

In either case, male or female hair loss, you need to start ingesting more biotin, which is a part of the vitamin B family. The deficiency of this vitamin can actually cause balding though it is usually reversed when intake resumes. Biotin can be acquired from dairy or supplements taken in the evening, when its absorption is the highest. The next step is to not subject your hair to mechanical damage by rough combing, chemicals, or heat treatments. Cutting the hair regularly also stops it from breaking off if you have weak hair. Men need to consult their doctor before taking a drug called finasteride. This drug blocks the synthesis of DHT. Additionally, minoxidil should be applied to the hair to start growing the hair back and ketoconazole shampoo should be used. This is an antidandruff shampoo but also has some affects against male pattern balding.

Why Gas Trapped In Stomach

Gas is a natural by-product of digestion and is therefore something that sometimes is inevitable. In fact, it can be said that if you do not experience flatulence and burping at some point, there might be a problem with your digestive system. Flatulence is sometimes used as a marker of a healthy digestive system by many doctors when analyzing gastrointestinal problems. Having said that, too many emissions of gas from either orifice is also of concern. Excessive burping could indicate that your diet is unhealthy or you experience acidity – which can be further caused by a number of reasons including stress and the intake of certain types of spices. Excessive flatulence can be caused by reasons like intestinal flora imbalance or too much polysaccharide in the diet. In either case, there are simple remedies to cure you.

When you eat or drink, the food passes from the mouth into the stomach. While food is in the stomach, the stomach is sealed by two valves: the esophageal and pyloric sphincters. Here in the stomach, the food and drink are acted on by enzymes like pepsin along with hydrochloric acid created by a bunch of cells called parietal cells. The food lies here for a while so that all organic matter is broken down into a simpler form for processing further. This is the first stage of gas build up and any accumulation escapes from the esophageal sphincter opening to allow this escape and cause a burp. Burp could have a characteristic taste because of the type of food ingested. The second stage of gas production happens in the intestines and is caused by the action of intestinal bacteria, which break down food further for absorption in the small intestine. The wrong type of bacteria, deficient enzymes (as in the case of lactose intolerance), and the use of antibiotics will cause gas to build up and even diarrhea sometimes.

Home Remedies For Gas

Curing the condition of gas requires that settle the acid production in the stomach by using ginger. Ginger is excellent to settle the stomach and can reduce the amount of acidity if you suffer from belching. For problems with intestinal flora, you need to restock your intestines with bacteria and this requires the use of probiotic yoghurt taken an hour before every meal. Cut down on your intake of hard fibrous foods like legumes temporarily until the problem goes away. Drink aloe vera juice as a laxative to cleanse the colon of any accumulated feces.

Swelling of The Lymph Nodes: Home Remedies for Swollen Lymph Nodes And Sore Throat?

Swelling Of The Lymph Nodes - Lymphatic System of Neck, Armpits And Throat Bacterial Infection

Lymph nodes are part of the body’s immune system. Swelling of the lymph nodes possibly indicates that the body is fighting an infection. Lymph nodes are small bean shaped tissues that form part of the lymphatic system spread across the entire body. Specific lymph nodes that are prone to swelling are nodes present around the armpits, chin and neck region. Lymph nodes are wrongly referred as lymph glands. Lymph nodes do not secrete any hormones but merely act as barrier to infections. If the lymph nodes are unable to act as a barrier and succumb to the infection, the nodes tend to get swollen. Swollen lymph nodes can trigger various health conditions. Swollen lymph nodes are an indication that something is amiss within your body. Bacterial infections can cause a rapid increase in swelling, while extreme health disorders such as cancers may cause lymph nodes to swell up gradually. The lymph nodes form an important part of the body’s defense mechanism. It is advisable to consult a medical practitioner since the swelling and pain is consistent in nature. Home remedies can help treat mild to moderate conditions.

Home Remedies Swollen Lymph Nodes

Try some proven home remedies to reduce the swelling of the lymph nodes. If the lymph nodes respond to home care, the problem may not be that serious in nature. Certain herbal remedies like licorice, Echinacea and Wild Indigo help boost the immune system and improve the lymphatic flow. If swelling is caused due to an infection, treating the infection can also help reduce the swelling. Cold, fever or sore throat causing infections can be treated effectively such that the lymph nodes also regain normal health. A lymphatic drainage massage is also a popular method to increase lymphatic flow. A trained professional would be able to understand the clogged nodes and help increase the flow through gentle strokes. Lymphatic drainage massage decongests the lymph nodes and activates the immune system. This helps keep the body healthy devoid of infection and diseases. Intake of Vitamin C is also known to boost the immune system and increase production of lymphocytes (cells present in the lymph nodes). Citrus fruits such as lemon, oranges, lime, guavas, Indian gooseberries and papayas are a good dietary source of Vitamin C. Applying warm garlic oil around the swollen region and massaging the region in a circular motion can reduce swelling and help clogged nodes decongest. Simple massage techniques like stroking the neck downwards gently can also help improve the lymphatic flow and reduce swelling.

Tooth Enamel Erosion

Tooth enamel is actually the hardest substance in your body. This is because nearly ninety-six percent of the enamel is mineral in nature. The process of producing enamel begins in the fetal stages of growth, and continues until around 10 months after birth. After this, so-called ‘milk teeth’ can be seen until a child is around 6 years old when, when these are replaced by the adult teeth. This is also the last stage of tooth development, and from this point you can only care for what you have. This also means that if you lose tooth enamel, there is no natural remedy or medical treatment that can completely restore it.

The two main causes for enamel destruction are physical friction and chemical decay. Friction is a natural effect of chewing and over time will cause enamel to disappear at a rate of around 8 micrometers every year. Decay is usually caused due to acids, which attack the mineralized enamel and break it down. To some extent, this can be caused by sugars, since bacteria in the mouth consume the sugar and produce acids. In time, such enamel destruction leads to tooth cavities. Once the cavity is deep enough, the enamel cannot support itself and the entire visible tooth can breakdown.

Restoration Of Tooth Enamel

To a large extent, maintaining good oral hygiene can prevent further enamel loss. It is recommended that you rinse your mouth with water after every meal, to reduce the chances of stray bits of food remaining between the teeth. A medicated mouthwash should be used at least once a day. Most dentists recommend brushing teeth twice a day with a toothpaste containing fluoride. This mineral is useful in two ways: it helps to kill bacteria and can help in re-mineralizing the enamel. In fact, teeth that are exposed regularly to fluoride develop a new layer of enamel-like substance that is harder than the original substance. Fluoride is also added to the water that you drink, providing another source of this useful material. In serious cases of enamel loss, a dentist can bathe the teeth in fluoride baths to reduce or stop the destructive process. In cases where a tooth has lost all enamel, dentists use dental sealants as a substitute, which can be effective for as long as five years. Cosmetic surgery is another option, where damaged enamel is completely removed and crowns or veneers are used to mimic the appearance of the surrounding teeth.

How To Treat Food Poisoning

According to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 70 million Americans get some form of food poisoning each year. However, most cases still go unreported, especially when the symptoms are mild and resemble other common conditions. Food poisoning is caused by the presence of certain organisms or toxins in contaminated food. This often occurs when meat is undercooked, and dairy products such as mayonnaise are improperly stored. A majority of such cases are due to bacteria such as staphylococcus and E. coli. With the proper treatment, most patients will recover completely in a few days. However, cases involving botulism can lead to serious complications that are potentially fatal. Other cases of serious food poisoning are linked to mushrooms and shellfish. If any symptoms are noticed after eating these foods, medical attention should be provided immediately.

Food Poisoning Symptoms

One problem with effective diagnosis of food poisoning is that symptoms can occur hours and sometimes a day or two after ingesting the contaminated food. These include abdominal cramps, some level of diarrhea, fever, nausea, and general weakness. In some cases, vomiting will also be observed. If the diarrhea lasts for more than two days, or if the fever climbs above 101 F, a doctor should be consulted. Blood, stool, and vomit tests can help to identify the cause of the food poisoning, and suitable medication can be prescribed.

The most common complication caused by food poisoning is dehydration. This can be especially serious in the case of young children. Patients with food poisoning need to drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Milk and dairy products should generally be avoided, since most patients develop temporary lactose intolerance. Over-the-counter electrolytic solutions are also an excellent choice, especially since the body loses many essential salts and mineral due to diarrhea. You can also make a basic solution at home by adding 1 teaspoon of salt and 8 teaspoons of sugar to 1 liter of water. For the first couple of days, it is best to avoid solid foods to avoid irritating the sensitive stomach lining. Bland foods like juices, soups, mashed potatoes or bananas, and toast can be consumed. Freshly prepared chicken soup is also good idea, since it is light, easy to digest, and very nutritious. For a week or so after the diarrhea, maintain a diet rich in fresh fruits and lightly cooked vegetables. These contain nutrients in a form that is easily absorbed by the body. Avoid eating processed or overcooked foods. Many natural nutrients and enzymes are destroyed by overcooking.
