Tinea Versicolor Fungal Infection And Other Symptoms

Our skin can be afflicted with many kinds of infections and one such infection is a fungal infection of the skin called tinea versicolor. This fungal infection causes the fungus to interfere with the pigmentation of your skin and the result is discolored white patches or spots on your skin. As this is a fungal infection, off the shelf antifungal creams and lotions help in the treatment and so do anti-dandruff shampoos. As the infection affects the pigmentation, your skin will take weeks to recover completely after treatment. It is a non-communicable disease and is more common in adults than in children. People who have an oily skin are more prone to this fungal infection. Some of the symptoms of tinea versicolor are that you would need to watch out for are patches that tend to grow and develop an itchy, prickly feeling, scaly skin with discolored patches, and patches that become noticeable after being exposed to sunlight.

Tinea Versicolor Home Remedies - Tea Tree Oil

There are a few ways to get rid of a fungus. Increase your intake of garlic which is a good antifungal agent and antibiotic. Consume whole garlic over three meals a day. Next, you have to attack the fungus topically. This can be done in the simplest way by checking if the deodorant that you are using contains Triclosan. If it does, spray the whole affected area with deodorant. Another remedy is the use of tea tree oil. You can also substitute this with lavender oil, neem oil, or sandalwood oil. Most essential oils like these also come in the form of soap or body wash. The yeast that is responsible for the problem lives off the secretions of sebum secreted from the body – an oily and fat-rich substance. Therefore, ensure that the area is totally free of oil by not using any oil-based creams and washing regularly.

Tinea Versicolor Shampoo

One of the fastest and the quickest remedies for tinea versicolor is the use of shampoos that have selenium sulfide as its constituent but since you mentioned that you have already tried using different shampoos, pop the following names to your doctor for ratification. Greisofulvin, metronidazole, and clotrimazole are oral antifungal medications. Hydrogen peroxide could also be useful because it inhibits the growth and reproduction of fungi – a technique used by bacteria to push out competition from fungi in most parts of the body. Therefore, apply hydrogen peroxide as many times as possible in a day until the problem is totally solved.

Stomach Ache And Pain

A stomach ache is one of the most common problems that each one of us has faced at some point. A stomach ache can radiate pain all the way from the groin to the chest and can be quite unbearable at times. Constipation is one of the reasons for stomach ache. The other factors that could lead to a stomach ache include gastritis, acidity, indigestion, food poisoning, kidney stones, urinary tract infections, hernia, appendicitis and the excessive formation of gas. In case home remedies are unable to provide relief and you still experience stomach ache and cramps regularly, consult your doctor to figure out the reasons for your stomach pain.

Home Remedy Stomach Ache: Lemon Juice And Ginger Ale

Since the reasons for stomach aches are varied, some of the more common causes can be addressed with home remedies. Acidity, indigestion, and gas tend to be the main offenders when it comes to stomach aches. Acidity can be combated by immediately having a dairy product, preferably milk or yogurt, but you really only have to eat something, when you feel a burning sensation, to neutralize the acid. Indigestion can be cured by having some ginger ale or ginger tea. Trapped gas is more complicated and it is better to simply prevent it by having some probiotic yogurt every morning before you start your day. You should increase the intake of water after or during a meal in order to reduce the chances of constipation. You can also take lemon juice with honey as it aids bowel movement. For instant relief during a stomach ache, you can take a mixture of mint juice, lime juice and ginger juice and drink this mixture for instant relief. Constipation is ideally prevented by having a diet that is rich in fiber. This means consuming tough fibrous plant material like legumes and whole wheat products. There is also much to be said about eating at regular mealtimes and maintaining a healthy diet free of alcohol.

Other Home Remedies Stomach Ache

In case you are suffering from gastritis, broccoli will serve well to alleviate the condition. This is a serious disease however and you must see a doctor to receive proper antibiotic treatment. Along with this, you can also make a powder with cumin seeds, dried mint leaves, black pepper, dried ginger, coriander, asafetida, and garlic. This powder should be taken with warm water after every meal to prevent the formation of gases therefore reducing the chances of a stomach ache.

What can I do when I have stomach flu?

Stomach flu, which is basically the swelling up of the large and the small intestine, leads to vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and stomach cramps. The problem during stomach flu is that whatever you eat and drink does not stay or settle in the stomach, it gets immediately thrown out. This results in the body losing all its fluid and the danger of the body dehydrating becomes very high. In such a scenario, the best thing that you can do is to consume as much liquid as possible. But just any liquid will not do, you will have to be careful about what you drink. You will have to make sure that what you drink helps to settle your stomach as well as works at destroying the virus or bacteria that has caused the flu in the first place. Thankfully, stomach flu usually does not last beyond 12 to 13 hours. However, if it does, consult your family physician without any delay.

Home Remedies For Stomach Infection

Start off by drinking herbal tea. Peppermint and chamomile both contain medicinal properties that work wonders on the inflammation and bloating of the intestines, as well as on relaxing the muscles. To these, you can add a few drops of fresh lemon juice. The vitamin C in it will ensure that your situation does not worsen. If your stomach flu is accompanied by diarrhea, than the one thing that you must eat is bananas. Bananas contain magnesium and potassium, the two minerals that are vital for the body to function properly. Accompany this by drinking water that contains glucose and a pinch of salt. Drink this water as frequently as you can. Salt contains sodium, another mineral that is vital for the body. You can also drink soups and broths, as they will provide the required nutrition to ensure that you don’t start feeling weak. Since it is difficult to eat anything substantial, you can drink the water in which you cook rice. To this rice water, you can add a little honey and mint or ginger to help soothe the stomach. This will also make the rice water tastier to drink. Another thing that you can add to the rice water as well as the soup and broth is turmeric powder. Turmeric powder contains antibacterial properties that will help eliminate the virus causing the problem. Try and eat at least two to three slices of dry toast along with your tea or soup. Dry toast is one of the few foods that actually helps settle the stomach.

Tips To Keep Our Skin Glowing

To keep your skin glowing, there are a few things that should become a routine part of your life. These are getting seven to eight hours of non-stop sleep, drinking plenty of water and fruit and vegetable juices, and eating a well-balanced and healthy diet. Exercise regularly as exercise helps to get rid of the toxins in your body and helps open your pores, thereby allowing your skin to breathe easier.

Apart from this, try to avoid spending too much time in places that are air conditioned or have heaters. These two things have an amazing ability of damaging your skin without you realizing it.

Apart from this, moisturize your skin daily with a moisturizing lotion. Alternatively, take a banana, mash it, add one teaspoon of milk, and a few drops of honey to it. Mix it well, apply it on your skin, and wash it off after 15-20 minutes. This is a highly effective moisturizer for all seasons. Another, equally effective moisturizer is a mixture of honey with egg whites only. The added benefit of this mixture is that it stops wrinkles and fine lines from forming on your face and stops any kind of spots from appearing on your face either. Another thing that has dual benefits is cabbage juice. Apply this juice (without adding anything to it) to your skin, let it dry, and then wash it off with cold water. Apart from giving it a glow, it helps to tighten the skin and to prevent wrinkles. Take a medium sized tomato, extract its juice and mix it with one tablespoon of curd. Massage this gently on your skin and wash it off with cold water only after it has dried. You can also use papaya pulp in the same manner to make your skin glow. Scrub your face with a face scrub once a week. Prepare this face scrub at home by coarsely grinding almonds, and adding milk and honey to it. The almond granules will help to remove the dead skin cells off your face and the almond oil from the granules, milk, and honey will provide the necessary moisture to make the skin glow. Apply almond oil on your skin to improve its texture and at the same time add one teaspoon of almond oil to a glass of warm milk and have that every night before going to sleep. This will help to nourish your skin from within.

I am having 6 months old baby and have stretch marks on and around my belly, how can I remove it completely

Natural Ways To Fade Stretch Marks

Stretch marks basically indicate that your skin has expanded beyond its capacity and has therefore been torn. Your skin expands in two situations – when you are pregnant and when you put on a large amount of weight. Once torn, it is not possible for the skin in that area to go back to its former condition. Unfortunately, apart from cosmetic surgery, there is no other way you can completely and absolutely remove the stretch marks that have already formed on your body. This is a scientifically proven fact and it is necessary that you know this before you start off with any kind of treatment for the same. What you can do is work at lightening these marks to such an extent that they are hardly visible. You can start off by making sure that you moisturize your body every single day, twice a day if possible. Preferably use a moisturizer that has cocoa butter as its base. Cocoa butter is a well-know antioxidant and works well even on sensitive skin. You can also apply cocoa butter cream directly on the stretch marks for better results. Another remedy that contains healing properties is aloe vera gel. This will not only help in lightening the stretch marks but will also help in healing the damaged skin to a certain extent. Apart from this, you should massage vitamin E oil on your stretch marks everyday. Gently massage this oil into your skin where there are stretch marks, preferably in an upward movement. Vitamin E contains healing properties that will work at repairing your skin over a period of time.

Apart from vitamin E oil, there are other oils that will help in lightening the stretch marks. Lavender, jojoba, avocado, chamomile, olive oil, and almond are some of the other oils that you can apply regularly. You can also mix some of these oils for better results. For example, mixing jojoba, lavender, and chamomile oil in equal quantities will prove to be highly effective. If your stretch marks are severe and look like welts, then grind a fistful of coffee beans into a lightly coarse powder and mix it well with the cocoa butter based lotion to form a gentle exfoliating scrub. Massage this scrub gently over the stretch marks for around 2 to 3 minutes everyday. Instead of washing it off with soap, just wipe it off with a clean cloth soaked in warm water. And of course, the best way to prevent stretch marks is to keep a constant watch on your weight.

Treatment For Rapid Hair Growth

For any remedy to effectively impact your hair growth, you have to follow a routine hair-care regime. The first thing that you need to do is make sure that you lead a healthy life-style. This means that you will have to eat well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, sleep for eight hours everyday, and lead a stress-free life. If there is any kind of imbalance in any of these, the first thing to be impacted will be your hair and skin. So, try and get your lifestyle in place first.

Along with that, follow a routine that concentrates on your hair. The one thing that you must do is massage warm oil into your scalp 2-3 hours before you shampoo your hair. This oil can be olive oil, castor oil, mustard oil, almond oil, or coconut oil. If you have the time, you can also wrap your head in a damp but hot towel. The heat from the towel helps in opening the pores in your scalp, thereby helping the massaged oil slide in to the roots of your hair shaft and nourishing them. If you do not have the time to oil your hair before a bath, than make it a point to massage the oil into your scalp the previous night before you go to sleep.

Apart from these regular oils, once a week oil your hair with some of the essential aroma oils. In fact, there is a blend made up entirely of these oils that is highly effective for hair growth. In a small bowl mix a few drops of basil oil, rosemary oil, and lavender oil in equal proportions. Add two teaspoons of burdock oil to this along with two teaspoons of aloe vera gel. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and then massage this mixture into your scalp 2-3 hours before washing your hair with a mild shampoo. A natural conditioner that will also promote hair growth is a mixture of one whole egg, freshly squeezed juice of one medium sized lime, and a tablespoon of olive, almond or coconut oil. Apply this to your scalp, and wash it off only after 3-4 hours. This will give it enough time to reach the hair shafts and nourish the hair from its roots. Apply this mixture to your scalp every fortnight without fail to increase hair growth and keep your hair healthy. Remember to massage your scalp gently at least twice a day as this helps to stimulate circulation and increases hair growth.

Home Remedies Heat Boils And Blisters: My 3 years old daughter has lately been having heat boils . Please suggest Treatment? What causes Heat Boils?

Heat Boils Causes

A heat boil is actually a misnomer for what the actual condition is. When the skin is exposed to an unnaturally high temperature, for a prolonged period of time, the skin’s protective mechanism causes a blister to form on the surface of the skin. Usually, the same mechanism comes into play when there is continuous mechanical damage to the skin, as is the case of a shoe bite when a blister forms on the foot. In the case of heat boils, the damaging factor may not be direct contact with a hot surface but just being exposed to the sun for a long period of time is enough. Being exposed to the sun for a short period of time is good for the body because sunlight allows the skin to create essential vitamin D. However, when you are exposed to the harsh sun, like in the tropics, in the afternoon, the level of ultraviolet radiation exposure is so much that the skin gets damaged.

Blisters Treatment

The resulting defense mechanism results in a blister. Blisters are an edema on the epidermal layer of the skin and are filled with a serous liquid and sometimes even blood, if a capillary is ruptured. Usually, blisters don’t require your intervention and it is important that you leave them be since the occurrence of a blister in itself is a sign that healing is underway. In fact, puncturing a blister that is filled with fluid could actually cause an infection to occur. All that you need to do is to ensure that the area of blistering is completely bacteria free. For this, you should dab some tea tree oil around the region of the blisters.

Home Remedies Heat Boils And Blisters

Usually, any area of injury will cause a lot of pain whether a bruise, blister, or a wound. This is because of the inflammatory reaction – part of the healing process of any injury from the immune system. To relieve your child of this pain, there is a simple procedure called a cold compress. Throw in a few ice cubes in a towel and apply it for a few seconds at a time in a rolling motion over the blistered area. This will provide immediate relief. Most blistering will disappear in a matter of days if no pressure is applied to the area of injury. At this point, it would be necessary to also mention a rider. If your child develops a fever immediately after the appearance of the blisters, there might be another problem or a viral infection. Visit the doctor if a fever develops.

Smelling Stool Causes

A stool that has a foul odor is a rather common problem faced by many people across the globe. One of the things to keep in mind when wondering why your stool has such a foul odor is that it normally emits the smell of the food that you have just consumed and digested. This is not only true for stools that are passed out of the body, but also for urine, sweat and semen as well. However, it must also be kept in mind that a foul smelling stool could be an indication of a serious underlying medical condition, such as chronic pancreatitis or ulcerative colitis. Indications of medical conditions that accompany foul smelling stools are excessive loss of weight, passing blood stools, stools that contain a high mucous content, a pain in the abdomen and fever.

Remedies To Reduce Foul Smelling

The best way to ensure that you do not pass any foul smelling stools is by ensuring that your digestive system remains clean. This can be done by drinking lots of water on a daily basis, as water neutralizes the odor. Consumption of fibrous fruits and vegetables that provide roughage for cleaning the digestive system are also helpful in overcoming this condition. Green leafy vegetables have high fiber content and are recommended for reducing bad odor. The best way to rid yourself of foul smelling stools is by altering your dietary habits. Milk thistle is an excellent cleaning agent for the digestive system, and is recommended for the same. Yogurt is known to eliminate bacteria in the colon and digestive tract, and therefore, it is advisable to consume yogurt on a daily basis to remove the foul odor from stools. Wheat grass juice is an excellent enema that helps in cleansing the system. Sprinkling a teaspoon of powdered flax seeds on food preparation also aids the digestion process.

One of the primary causes of foul smelling stools is the consumption of deep fried, greasy foods that tend to pose a difficulty in proper digestion. The consumption of such foods should be avoided. People who eat meat on a regular basis should cut down on the consumption of the same and clear the bowels by eating more leafy vegetables. Excessive consumption of garlic and onions also tends to increase bad odors and should be avoided. The consumption of tobacco and alcohol should also be cut out in order to reduce foul smelling stools. Holding back for prolonged periods of time can also contribute to smelly stools.

Baby/Infant Gas And Abdominal Pain Home Remedies: How do you get rid of gas in Babies Digestive System?

Gas Pain In Babies

Gas is a very common problem that nearly every mother faces with babies and infants. The biggest problem is that babies cannot speak and tell you that they have a case of gas but symptoms like unwillingness to eat, crying and whining, flatulence, cramping and hardening of the stomach or liquid stools are indications that the baby has problems with gas pain and digestive system.

Babies Digestive System

When your baby starts crying at a set and specific time every day, this is a sign that the baby has colic. Crying in this case starts very suddenly and just when the crying episode is about to end, the baby passes out gas and gets relieved of the pain. You can gently massage to your baby’s stomach to soothe the pain that is caused due to the formation of gas and the inability of getting rid of it. You could also prepare some herbal tea and make your baby have it slowly during the day to avoid the formation of gas. Burps are also an effective way to control the formation of gas. You should make it a habit to burp your baby before the meal, during the meal, and even after the meal. Babies tend to swallow air uncontrollably when they eat and inducing burping is necessary to eliminate any swallowed air in the babies digestive system.

Baby/Infant Gas And Abdominal Pain Home Remedies

You can also consider giving your baby a hot bath or alternatively use a hot water bottle to warm the stomach and abdominal area of your baby. The warmth that this provides to the stomach helps relax the intestines and this tends to make the baby pass gas and get relieved of the pain and discomfort. In case the gas problems prevail for more than 2-3 days, consult a doctor, as the crying and pain could also be because of another reason. In addition to breast milk, you should try giving gripe water to your baby as it aids the process of digestion and prevents the formation of gas. Babies’ feeding bottles and feeding nipples are available in various shapes and sizes. You need to try various combinations to narrow down on the one that best suits your baby. Babies tend to swallow in air while they drink milk from bottles. The right fit of bottle and nipple reduces the air intake; thereby, reducing gas problems. While feeding your baby, make sure the baby is at a 45 degree angle.

Gestational diabetes is a form of diabetes that affects women who are expecting a child. Gestational diabetes occurs because of the hormonal changes that accompany pregnancy, thereby reducing a woman’s ability to receive insulin from the body, raising the blood sugar levels. When a pregnant mother has gestational diabetes, the insulin in the body is not allowed to pass through the placenta. The extra glucose in the blood, however, is allowed to pass through the placenta and causes a rise in the blood sugar levels of the unborn child. The women who are most susceptible to gestational diabetes are those who have a body mass index of over thirty, or who have had a history of diabetes in their families. Similarly, expectant women who have high levels of sugar in urine samples taken during antenatal tests and those who suffer from high blood pressure are also at risk of gestational diabetes.

Diet Plan For Gestational Diabetes

A dietician will be able to best advise you on the diets you need to follow after a thorough examination of the levels of sugar and other constituents in the body. However, the consumption of leafy green vegetables and other fibrous fruits and vegetables is recommended in order to help lower blood sugar levels. It is advisable to cut down on your intake of sweets and other products that contain sugar in order to keep your blood sugar levels in check. Similarly, carbohydrate rich foods should be avoided at meals. Although contrary to popular belief that there should be three meals taken at regular intervals during the day, it is advisable to lower the quantity of the three main meals and substitute the same by breaking them up into six smaller meals, spread out evenly over the same period of time.

For women who have gestational diabetes, it is extremely important that they follow a regular pattern of exercise. The regularity of exercise helps to improve the potency of the insulin produced by the body, thereby keeping the body’s blood sugar levels under control. Walking is known to be one of the best methods of regular exercise as it does not put one under too much strain. A brisk walk in the evening or morning is beneficial because it not only exercises every muscle of the body, but also burns up the excess glucose stored in the body for the production of energy. Gestational diabetes is not an uncommon worry for a number of expectant mothers, and usually tends to regulate a few hours after child birth.
