Meditation in its truest sense does not only help people in developing tranquility, calmness, and inner peace but also to grow as a true person. (...)

Meditation in its truest sense does not only help people in developing tranquility, calmness, and inner peace but also to grow as a true person. However, some people have misconceptions about meditation as being a hippy act or something associated with marijuana smoking. They did not realize that meditation is done so that the mind can think better to improve the condition of life.

Guided meditation is a form of meditation wherein someone guides you throughout the meditation process and helps you to obtain the result of some descriptions. Many people associate meditation with just sitting cross legged on the floor, eyes closed and repeatedly go humming. This is not the result that most people want because the essence is totally absent.

Compared to other things, meditation must be done with a purpose. Take for instance; you are applying for a job out of a purpose. Once hired, you will have a monthly salary that you can use for example; purchasing a car, house, food, or spend on vacations. Probably, you will not work if you don't have any purpose.

Meditation is precisely the same. A purpose is needed when meditating and it can vary in many ways. Meditation is done to achieve inner peace, bring about concentration, relax, change the state of the mind, improve learning and creativity, build self-esteem and confidence, focus on healing oneself, control external and internal pain, and overcome fears. The reasons for doing meditation are really unlimited.

You don't have to be afraid during the guided meditation process since someone ensures that you are taking the right path for achieving your objectives. Thus, it is very important that you choose your meditation guide properly. Different practitioners and experts on guided meditation have different strategies. They facilitate people to experience the different meditation paths according to their objectives.

Most meditation experts are teaching deep breathing methods for beginners to orient them in practicing relaxation as well as in maintaining focus. Meditations paths will not certainly work if you failed in the first step. Keep in mind that meditation guides are unique from one another. So, ask the meditation guide for a free meditation lesson before paying for the services.

In a single meditation center, meditation practitioners dramatically differ in their guiding process. Make sure that you choose the one who works best for you. For example, you are challenge to find new thoughts and ideas about meditation. Then you are encouraged to purchase a guided meditation CD. You try to listen to it at home, but after a few minutes, you burst out in a loud laugh. The voice sounds totally unreal because it was altered digitally. This tool for guided meditation will not work for you since you are not serious about it. However, this meditation CD can work for other people.

So, choose from other guided meditation styles. You can get it from the internet or local bookstore. Guided meditation DVDs, CDs, and videos are very much widely available. Again, never rush in buying one for yourself or as a gift. Check out if free samples are available. Meditation programs with good quality are usually open for viewing and testing. This is the same if you wanted to go to meditation centers or health retreats. Finally, guided mediations will be successful if you are patient enough to do regular meditation practice.

Millions of people practice the physiological part of the Hindu religion that started thousands of years ago. (...)

Millions of people practice the physiological part of the Hindu religion that started thousands of years ago. These people often go to sessions guided by a qualified instructor and practice yoga poses or asanas. These yoga poses are a series of positions that have been practiced by Hindus for so many years. There is a huge business in providing tapes and television programs that also show the proper poses for people in their homes. These positions have some interesting names such as dog and cobra that bring flexibility to the participants as well as a feeling of serenity. Beginners start with a limited number of yoga poses and increase the number and complexity of the poses as they progress.

The poses have been practiced for centuries and are supposed to bring a great consciousness to those who perform the poses. Beginners are supposed to start slowly and refrain from stretching too much. Those people who follow these directions rarely injure their bodies in the process. Yoga poses are not intended to put a strain on the muscular or skeletal system. The wonderful poses are not intended to bring miracles overnight so those who benefit most from yoga poses are those who stick with the practice over a long period of time.

Fundamental Yoga Poses Are A Great Starting Point

Many pictures of yoga poses include those with people standing on their heads or twisted into difficult positions. The fantastic poses are not all complex or difficult, and a good instructor will make sure that the students do not do any yoga poses that are too difficult. One of the yoga poses that is often in pictures is a cross legged position, and this is a good place to start. Those that cannot do this yoga pose completely should start with an alternative position until they can do the complete pose.

Each of the yoga poses has a purpose which an instructor will probably explain as he or she proceeds with each lesson. Some of the great poses are meant to stretch the spine to keep the body flexible. There are incredible pictures with octogenarians in difficult positions that stretch their spines to keep them in good health. Other poses are meant to improve the posture and balance. Some poses are designed to relax the mind for serenity.
Each of the poses has some alternatives which should obtain the desired results.

Yoga exercises are the best way to free your mind and concentrate deeply. After you have experienced a stressful situation, your mind, body and spirit is stressed and fatigued.

The cause of these things might have been from the interaction with other people or something that have caused a frustration, anger, depression and disappointment. The feelings formed out of these circumstances should be released so that you will live a happier life with no worries.

One effective way and method to express your outpoured feelings and emotions is by doing yoga exercises.

When you feel like shouting out loud or cracking the television, you can instead release your tension through yoga exercises that are effective and helpful.

This type of strategy has worked in many ways for different people. Those who don't find enough time for themselves can do yoga exercises in order to relieve themselves.

Sometimes, work has caught us up so tightly that we don't find time to relax and express ourselves. Yoga exercises are the best remedy to this problem.

Yoga exercises can be applied and learned in school. There are some sessions that offer yoga practices. The yoga exercises you will learn in school can be performed at home.

In fact, you can learn some yoga exercises at home all by yourself. You will just have to need a television and a video tape. The video tape shows the steps and procedures for each yoga exercise.

The Hatha Yoga exercises are very appropriate for you. During a tired and heavy day, you can set a little time and devotion in doing yoga exercises. Remember that in doing yoga, you need to be consistent in practicing the yoga exercises so that it will soon take effect and you will notice little by little your body's improvement.

After doing the yoga exercises like the Hatha Yoga posture session, you need to relax in order for the effect of the postures take place. In this manner, the body will accumulate the effects.

Before doing the yoga exercises, you should first lay in a relaxed posture so you can focus well and not be distracted by outside forces. You will not feel pain or discomfort too.

Yoga exercises can be done at any time of the day as long as you are free. Although it chooses no time, still, the best time to practice it is in the morning. Before eating your breakfast, the mind is on its state of calmness and free from distractions. This is the perfect time to do the yoga exercises.

Before doing the yoga exercises, make sure that your heart is ready. It should not feel any pain or ego. It is important to keep a good heart so that your mind can work well.

The perfect place to do your yoga exercises is a quiet place. It should be well ventilated and free from all unpleasant things and smell. You should be free from all possible distractions.

Keeping a good stomach is also important so that you will feel good and your digestive system responses accurately. What you should do first is to empty your bowels and clear your noses from mucus. You should stay clean and fit.

Now that you have clearly understood the important reminders, you can start your yoga exercises and work your way out.

Aerobic activity is a great way to burn fat and gives your heart a workout. (...)

Aerobic activity is a great way to burn fat and gives your heart a workout. The key to effective aerobic training is to continuously adjust the intensity of your workout as it becomes easier for your body to complete. But how do you accomplish this? There are many options for creating a more challenging workout. One choice is to add an aerobics step bench to your weekly workout program. If you have already participated in aerobics classes, using an aerobics step bench will not be a hard piece of equipment to master. Even if you are a newbie to aerobics exercise, and aerobics step bench is easy to learn and can be completely adjustable to various levels of experience and skill. While some aerobics workouts can be intimidating to those who are not as confident of their coordination abilities, using an aerobics step bench can be as simple as stepping up and down from the platform.

The Aerobics Step Bench Will Tighten Those Gluteus Maximus Muscles

For anyone who has ever worked out with a step machine, you know the advantages in the stepping motion to your leg and buttock muscles. Using an aerobics step bench in your workouts will intensify your work on these muscles so that you can achieve greater results in less time. While the impact of stepping is not necessarily low impact, it is easier on your joints than other activities such as running or walking regularly. To help with shock absorption, make sure you always use your aerobics step bench with appropriate shoes; your sneakers should be lightweight but offer plenty of support. You should also make sure to wear proper clothing; remember, it is aerobic activity designed to raise your heart rate and burn fat, so lightweight clothing is best. Have a water bottle handy, and use it regularly during breaks in the workout. Be aware of your posture throughout your workout to maximize your benefits and decrease your chances of putting any sort of strain on your lower back.

Where To Use Your Aerobics Step Bench

Most fitness centers that offer aerobics classes will probably include at least one step class. In some cases, the aerobics step bench may be provided, in other situations, you may want to bring your own equipment. The great thing about an aerobics step bench is that it is fairly cost effective to purchase and portable enough to take with you. You can even form your own group of friends who come together with your benches and an instructional video to meet in someone's living room for exercise and social time. The best thing about an aerobics step bench is that is can add another dimension and intensity to a workout that might become stale and boring. So grab a bench and start stepping!

There are a lot of people who are crazy about yoga. The reason why most people do yoga is that it makes them feel better and in shape. The different poses and postures make their body healthy. Yoga for most is the best way to relax and unwind. If you want to keep your body in shape, this might be the best exercise for you.

Did you know that yoga is good to fight certain illness that may come? There had been researches which proved that yoga helps you to control anxiety, reduces asthma, arthritis, blood pressure, back pain, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, epilepsy, diabetes, headaches, stress and many more.

Yoga has a lot of benefits and advantages. All in a day's work, it can reduce tension and stress. Of course after a heavy day, you will feel that your muscles have been stuck up and you will feel wasted.

If you do yoga, your self esteem will be higher. It is important to gain more confidence inside and out so that you can face people with no worries.

Yoga is good for the body in increasing your muscle tone, strength, stamina and flexibility.
If you are too fat and conscious about your body figure, yoga can help you lower your fat and keep your body in shape. Yoga exercises can burn excess fat and give you the desired figure that you want.

If you need time to relax and forget your responsibilities, yoga will be good to improve your concentration and enhance your creativity. Yoga helps you to think more positively away from all anxieties. If you have a fresh mind, you can think of good things and apply it easily.

Your body needs to relax once in a while. Sometimes, work can leave us wasted and exhausted. During the heavy days, we may not find time to unwind because work is still on our tail. Yoga can help you create a sense of calmness and well being.

Yoga exercise helps you improve a good circulation. Your organs and veins need to be exercised for it to function properly.
Yoga can help stimulate your immune system and keep you away from diseases. If you have a good immune system, you can be sure that you are free from sickness.

Some people do yoga to be enlightened. They believe that yoga will help them bring up their spirit and keep them relieved. Yoga works differently for people be it spiritual, emotional, psychological, mental and physical.

People think that yoga is only for spiritual people. But that belief is wrong. Even if you are not that religious, you can do yoga. You will see and feel the difference at the same time find out how it works for you.

Due to the pressure and demands of life, we become stressed out and we forget the essence of life. We tend to lose touch with the ones we used to spend time with, even ourselves.

We find ourselves rushing most of the time with the deadlines and hassles we need to keep up with. This leaves us a small time to wander and have that physical awareness.

These are the few things that yoga can provide. Once in a while, find time to dedicate a part of it to yourself to relax and unwind which only yoga can give.

The Diamond Posture (Vajrasana)
Kneel on a thick carpet or blanket with your knees close together. (...)

The Diamond Posture (Vajrasana)
Kneel on a thick carpet or blanket with your knees close together. Sit back on your heels and stretch up from your hips, balancing your head well so that a line drawn through ear, shoulder, elbow and hip would be straight. You should sit up in this posture for greatest benefits.

The Locust (Salabhasana)
Most yoga students are familiar with this posture. Lie flat, face down, chin on floor. Make your hands into fists and push them either under your thighs to help the lift, or place them alongside your body. Exhale and lift legs from your hips, tightening your buttocks and stretching your legs up and back. Hold position for as long as possible, exhale, return to starting posture and repeat.

he Dog Stretch (Adho mukha svanasana)
Lie face down, legs stretched back, buttocks tightened and knees pulled back. Place hands just below shoulders, exhale and lift head, then chest, shoulders and torso, pushing down from your pelvis and straightening your arms. From the back of your head to your tailbone, your body should be curved back. Push shoulders back and down. Push head back more. Stay like this as long as possible with normal breathing. Come down very slowly, and relax.

The Twist (Bhardwajasana)
Kneel on the floor and sit back, bringing both feet to the right of your hips. Straighten your right arm, bring it across your body and turn to the left. Place your hand, palm down under your left knee. Exhale, turn your body more to the left and clasp your right elbow with your left hand, from the back. Turn your head and gaze over your right shoulder. Fold position for a few breaths and then twist and look back over your left shoulder. Shoulders should be at right angles to the body. Come back to starting position and repeat on other side. You should do this posture once every hour if you have lower back pain.

Introduction
Hypnosis is a process in which critical thinking faculties of the mind are bypassed and a type of selective thinking and perception is established. (...)

Introduction

Hypnosis is a process in which critical thinking faculties of the mind are bypassed and a type of selective thinking and perception is established. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind we go into everyday. It is highly debatable when one says that being hypnotic is being in an altered state of consciousness of mind. Hypnosis is a process involving a hypnotist and a subject to be hypnotized. Hypnosis is characterized by intense concentration, extreme relaxation and high suggestibility. There can also be the process of self hypnosis. Hypnosis is used to reduce pain during dental treatments, surgical processes, to treat psychological disorders or to enhance academic performance also. Many theories suggest that we are in a constant state of hypnosis in our daily lives. For e.g. one might just miss a turn while driving on the road or one might be so engrossed in one's computer job that he or she may overlook somebody calling them for nearly ten minutes.

Meditation

Meditation is bringing together all the energies of the mind. It is an emptying process. Meditation is a time to quieten the mind and still the thoughts that run through the mind all day along. One needs to look at the thought process from outside, taking an outsider's view point. It has been proven that meditation helps relieve stress, lowers the blood pressure and mental peace and strength. Meditation also helps to elevate us spiritually. Meditation helps to put life in different perspective. So are meditation and hypnosis one and the same? The truth is that they are not.

Meditation versus Hypnosis

The essence of true meditation is the absence of all thought and to just be. Hypnosis, on the other hand, is to have a desired thought, and affect a desired outcome. The difference between hypnosis and meditation is that the hypnotist s may take the person down the path but instead of having the person look at the flowers, they will have the person work on pre accomplished goals. Spiritually, we are in a continuous hypnotic state. Hypnosis is a great way to enhance meditation. Hypnosis is a powerful tool to know as to why we are stuck on to believing certain things. One can enter one's sub-conscious mind through the scientific process of hypnosis and reconnect with one's spiritual self through this process. Once this session is over, there is immense peace and quiet; most suitable situation for a meditative state; to awaken one's higher good.

Madonna does it. Cameron Diaz, Reese Witherspoon, Katie Holmes and Janet Jackson also do it. These famous celebrities are working out the yoga moves. But this is not the reason why you should do yoga moves. The reason that you should try the classical yoga moves is simple: It will make you feel active with an over all good feeling.

Yoga is an ancient system of movements for personal development of the mind and body. Yoga practitioners viewed it as an all-encompassing lifestyle, emphasizing compassion, non-violence and inner peace. It consists of various yoga moves and poses.

With its gentle movements, yoga moves have been an ideal method for relaxation and body stimulation. Moreover, performing the yoga moves helps you stay focused and awake during your work day.

Like any exercise, you can do different yoga moves while seated at your desk. It also starts with the basics of breathing. However, there are some yoga moves that are difficult, but it's not necessary to twist your body into any pose that's not comfy for you.

Below are some of the easy to do yoga moves:

1.The Downward- Facing Dog Pose

This yoga move is said to be the top dog of all poses. It starts with hands and knees. Spread your palms out with the pinkies about an inch from each side of your mat. Press your hips up and back. Slowly lower your heels toward the floor. Your body should be in an inverted "V" shape. Breathe deeply, and concentrate on stretching your heels closer to the ground, contracting your stomach muscles and lifting your butt higher toward the sky. Make sure to keep your head in line with your spine by looking back toward your knees. Stay in this position for about a minute.

2. Tree Pose

This is a simple but powerful pose that needs balance and grace.

Stand straight with your legs together. Bend your left leg and place the left foot on the inner right thigh your left toes should point toward the floor and the left knee points out. With your hands on your hips, try and even them out so they are more-or-less level and your torso is facing straight ahead. Once you feel balanced place your hands in a prayer position in front of your chest and then slowly lift your arms above your head, keeping the palms together. Gaze softly at a point in front of you and breathe deeply, holding for about 30 seconds. Return to the starting position and reverse legs.

3. Half Bridge Pose

Finally, this pose will help you improve your posture. Lie flat on your back with your arms at your side palms facing down, and knees bent with heels as close to your buttocks as possible. On an exhalation, push your feet and arms into the floor and lift your hips into the air so your butt rises off the ground and your thighs are parallel to the floor. Do not clench your cheeks but rather concentrate on extending your knees toward the wall in front of you, keeping your thighs and feet parallel. Roll your shoulders underneath you so your arms move toward each other and clasp your hands together. Stay in this pose for about a minute, releasing on an exhale.

Practice these yoga moves for a few weeks, and see how much better you feel!

Spiritual growth and a true yogic stirring within the soul are the key goals that a student of Kundalini yoga aspires to. (...)

Spiritual growth and a true yogic stirring within the soul are the key goals that a student of Kundalini yoga aspires to. Different from the eight more known and practiced styles, the focus is more on meditation and thus makes this the most powerful yoga. Specific techniques are used to incorporate each phase of the body to achieve unobstructed communication between the mind and the body.

The concentration of Kundalini yoga is on the seven chakras, or psychic hubs in the body that transmit energies. Stay fixated on these puppies through movements and meditation for a period of time to accumulate a special spiritual energy that derives its name from the yoga style practiced to harness it. The seven chakras are:

1) Muladhara (root) is the first chakra and is located at the base of the spine.
2) Svadhisthana (sweetness) is the second chakra and is located near the belly button.
3) Manipura (lustrous gem) is the third chakra and is located at the solar plexis.
4) Anahata (not struck) is the fourth chakra and is located at the heart.
5) Vissudha (purification) is the fifth chakra and is located at the throat.
6) Ajna (to perceive) is the sixth chakra and is located between the eyebrows.
7) Sahasrara (thousand petaled) is the seventh chakra and is located at the top of the head.

What Is All This Kundalini Business Anyway?

The term Kundalini actually refers to a coiled life force, or prana that is lying quiescent at the base of your spine. The purpose of Kundalini yoga is to tap into and release that force, letting travel up and eventually converge in your mind. Serenity and sublime ecstasy are the result. Having a working knowledge of the nervous and endocrine systems is essential for success in Kundalini yoga. This way you can better understand what is happening within yourself.

Specific poses, meditation, and chanting are all integrated into a session. Chanting is the most important of the three. Another must when beginning your sojourn with this very powerful Kundalini yoga style is the assistance of a qualified guru. Kundalini can be imagined like a snake. The right snake charmer can make this creature dance and purr like a kitten. Someone inexperienced could get their hand, or more bitten off. If you follow the guidance of your guru, this can be an amazing experience for you.

A cure for cancer exists through the use of yoga, a San Antonio, Texas, cancer specialist said during a seminar in Oklahoma City in the 1980s.

But physicians refused to acknowledge the cure, said Col. Hansa Raval, M.D., a pathologist with the United States Army. Dr. Raval said her work in cytotechnology _ a diagnostic branch of medicine designed to pinpoint early stages of cancer _ was fruitless until she began researching the use of non-conventional methods of treatment.

The specialist said she witnessed the use of Raja yoga and meditation cure crippling arthritis, headaches and even cancer.

And even though Raval offers proof, which she said was collected during two years of study at the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University in India, she has been dismissed by other members of the medical profession as a kook.

Yoga's success as a treatment method is due to another hypothesis Raval proposes that 98 percent of all cancer is psychosomatic.

This is not chanting or mantra reciting, the physician said. It's not based on scriptures. It's not a cult. It's not biofeedback. It's deeper than that. This is a full-proof method of meditation, a detailed understanding of what the soul is.

Raval maintains that medical schools belittle the study of non-conventional methods of cancer treatment in favor of conventional methods such as radiation, chemotherapy, and treatment through machines.'

Medical schools teach students that the human being is only a body. But the mind has the power to cure the body. By definition, psychosomatic means a combination of mind, or soul and body.

The soul creates the disease, but the body suffers. If the psyche creates the disease, the only way to cure it is through the psyche. It's a very simple formula: treating the seed of the problem.

Further, studies in parapsychology all point to the treatment of illness through treatment of the soul.

The World Spiritual University, which has branches in 30 countries, teaches peace and perfection for health and happiness through the use of Raja yoga. The university gained status as a non-governmental member of the United Nations and has offices at the U.N. building in New York.

Raja yoga teaches students to search their soul world for answers on where they came from and why the cancer entered their body. They learn what role religion, stress, family and lifestyle played in the cancer.
