There’s no better night to mix and mingle at YogurtLab Xpress! On Tuesday, October 26, from 6 to 9 p.m., come join us for a great cause — 15% of every frozen yogurt purchase will go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with pediatric cancer, St. Jude has a unique mission: It’s the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay.

YogurtLab Xpress is located on the south end zone of Bryant-Denny Stadium in the new Market Place. Customers may park in the gated lot on the southwest side of the stadium (between the stadium and Rama Jama’s). YLX will provide tokens to customers who park there.

To celebrate the occasion, we’re offering 20% off a single frozen yogurt of your creation at YLX when you present the Alabama Crimson Tide coupon on grand opening day through October 30th. Thousands of coupons have been distributed and are circulating on The University of Alabama campus. You can find them (or they’ll find you!) in campus buildings and in sorority and fraternity houses on campus. Catching up with Amy B.

We *heart* YogurtLab customer Amy Bagby for coming up with our blog’s official–and apropos–name, YogurtGab! Amy stopped in the store last week with her daughter Sarah to redeem her complimentary frozen yogurt creation and a nifty new YL tee shirt for Sarah, 11, who has already worn it to school. Thanks, Sarah! Amy’s other daughter Lauren is a sophomore in high school and thinks that YL is a great place to hang out with friends. Thanks, Lauren!

When she’s not tending to her family, Amy says she’s picked up running as a way to stay healthy and in shape. She also sees it as an activity her whole family can participate in and enjoy.

“Running has really taken off,” Amy said (no pun intended!) as she talked about the popularity of the sport. She runs frequently with her husband, Russ; she ran the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K last year. Unfortunately, it wasn’t without injury.

To achieve her goal of participating in this year’s Race for the Cure in October and in the Vulcan Run in November–injury free–she signed up for Run University’s Couch to 10K Group, a running training program for beginners that began last week. The 10-week program is directed by Coach Danny Haralson and designed to target these races.

University of Alabama, here we come!

We visited the University of Alabama recently to check in on the progress of YogurtLab Xpress (YLX), scheduled to open in the new Bryant-Denny Stadium Market Place later this month.

We hung out with the YLX construction crew and visited other areas on campus. Here are some photos from our visit. They include John Fulkerson, proud University of Alabama alum and VP and co-founder of YL. Here’s, he’s in the stadium stands and in the “Fail Room,” the visitor’s locker room at Bryant-Denny affectionately named after alumnus and donor James M. Fail. Also of significance, Gate 25 which will be close to YLX!

‘Friday Night Lights’ at the Lab!

One of the biggest rivalries in Birmingham high school football is happening this Friday, Sept. 3, less than two miles from YogurtLab: The Vestavia Hills Rebels will take on the Mountain Brook Spartans! Kick off from the Vestavia Hills High School field is 7 p.m.

After the game, head over to YogurtLab and enjoy a refreshing cup of your favorite frozen yogurt creation. Bring in your ticket stub from the game and enjoy 10% off! Limit one per person and good only this Friday night.

In honor of the game between these long-standing hometown rivals, we’re extending our hours this Friday to 11:30 p.m. to accommodate potential game length overage and the large crowds exiting the parking lot after the game. Be safe!
