2012 is the year of Ultrabook. This year is the beginning of Super Slim Powerful notebook. You know, this year you will see many notebook vendor produce that Ultra. Maybe I should explain to you first, what is ultrabook? I know, some of you know, that ultrabook is the thin notebook. But, Intel has their own specification to the notebook that will be given a title "Ultrabook".

Have a thin and light design that measures less than 21 mm (0.83 inch) at its thickest point.
Include ultra-fast start-up, which can include Intel Rapid Start Tech or third-party solutions.
Go from hibernate to keyboard interaction in 7 seconds or less, waking up from sleep “much, much faster.
Offer between 5 and 8 hours of battery life, even in the sleekest form factor.
Include features that help protect itself and its user, including Intel Anti-Theft Tech.
Be powered by Intel Core processors.

Oke. I hope you understand that specification.:D :P. Below is the list of 9 newest crazy tiny Ultrabook CES 2012 version. Enjoy :D

1. Intel Nikiski

The skinny:

The Nikiski is a concept Ultrabook that Intel showed off at its press conference at CES. Not a real product, it's intended to show off just what the platform can do. There are no specs posted on the device, but from our brief hands-on with it, it's definitely light and thin.

Interesting feature:

What looks like a big hole below the keyboard is actually a transparent touchpad. It works like a normal one when the laptop's open, but when you fold it up the fun begins: The custom Windows 8 build shows through the screen, which lets the user check out things like calendar appointments and emails, and even run some apps, with the laptop closed.

Potential roadblock:

It's not a real product.

Bottom line:

While the Nikiski has about zero chance of going into production, its clever execution could inspire some daring manufacturers to take some risks once Intel's Ivy Bridge chips and Windows 8 arrive. Asus, are you listening? :D

2. LG Super Ultrabook Z330/Z430

The skinny:

LG's pair of Super Ultrabooks are respectably compact, with the 13.3-inch Z330 measuring just 0.58 of an inch thick and weighing 2.6 pounds, while the 14-inch Z430 is 0.78 of an inch thick and 3.3 pounds.

Interesting feature:

Both machines are equipped with LG’s proprietary Super Speed Boot technology, which is said to be "roughly three times faster" than other 13-inch notebooks in the market. The Z430, however, also has a combined HDD/SSD drive, which LG says can still boot in 12 seconds and boasts a storage capacity of up to 500GB.

Potential roadblock:

The price, currently not announced.

Bottom line:

LG isn't know for making laptops in the U.S., and it's up in the air whether the machines will ever end up here (LG just says they're launching "worldwide" in the first quarter). If the price is right, they appear to be solid machines.

3. Lenovo ThinkPad T430u

The skinny:

Lenovo's ThinkPad T430u business Ultrabook is less than 0.8 of an inch thick and weighs under four pounds, putting in the same size class as the HP Spectre (i.e. arguably not an Ultrabook)

Interesting feature:

The starting prices is just $849 -- making it the most affordable Ultrabook we've seen.

Potential roadblock:

With no standout feature, the T430u is clearly aimed solely at business users.

Bottom line:

The Lenovo ThinkPad T430u is pretty much an Ultrabook in name only, and you feel like it's just the smallest laptop Lenovo could build without really trying. The company even says you can substitute the SSD for a hard disk, which Ultrabooks aren't supposed to do. But if you're a business, it's not like you care about labels.

4. Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga

The skinny:

The Lenovo Yoga gets its name from its dual-hinge system that lets the screen flip all the way around so the device resembles a tablet. It also allows for a thinner design, Leonvo says, measuring 0.67 inch thick and weighing 3.1 pounds.

Interesting feature:

The hinged design and 13.1-inch touchscreen, which effectively lets the Yoga become a tablet or a stand-up screen. The keyboard automatically shuts off when the screen is folded past 180°, so no worries about accidental button presses.

Potential roadblock:

The Yoga won't be available until Windows 8 is in general release. Will it be obsolete by then?

Bottom line:

Lenovo's Yoga Ultrabook offers an exciting design and a decent price ($1,199) -- if and when it ever comes to market.

5. Samsung Series 5 Ultra

The skinny:

Samsung's Series 5 Ultra laptops aim to give great performance at a good price, though with compromises. The 13.3-inch version weighs 3.24 pounds and measures 0.58 of an inch thick. The 14.4-inch model is 3.9 pounds and 0.82 of an inch thick.

Interesting feature:

The 14-inch Samsung Series 5 sports an optical disc drive, typically forbidden on Ultrabooks. Both machines also have a 500GB hard disk for storage, also normally an Ultrabook no-no, but they still work fast thanks to a 16GB SSD cache.

Potential roadblock:

Optical storage? Hard disk? Almost 4 pounds? How are these Ultrabooks?

Bottom line:

The price is right in Samsung's Series 5 -- $950 and $900 for the 14- and 13-inch models, respectively -- but you won't feel like you have a laptop from the future with these. At least you can sub in an SSD for the smaller version for a total price of $1,100.

6. Samsung Series 9

The skinny:

At just 0.64 of an inch thick at its thickest point and 2.5 pounds, the 13-inch Samsung Series 9 gives the Acer Aspire S5 a challenge to its claim of being the world's thinnest Ultrabook.

Interesting feature:

The HD+ SuperBright Plus screen is said to be up to 180 percent brighter than other laptops, which should help in bright sunlight along with the anti-reflective coating.

Potential roadblock:

The price, which is $1,399.

Bottom line:

The display on any machine that you look at for hours matters a lot, but is it worth the premium?

7. HP Envy 14 Spectre

The skinny:

The HP Envy 14 Spectre is actually not so skinny -- it's a full 0.78 inches thick, and it weighs 3.79 pounds, making it the bulkiest Ultrabook we've seen. However, it also has the some of the most novel design features, like a 14-inch screen, a sleek glass back and extra wireless technology.

Interesting feature:

Near-field communication (NFC) is built into the HP Spectre, letting you share things like maps directly from your NFC-equipped phone just by tapping. It'll also eventually let you do things like transfer payment information instantaneously between devices, making the Spectre a little more future-proof than other Ultrabooks.

Potential roadblock:

Other than its size, which arguably disqualifies the Spectre as an Ultrabook, it costs a hefty $1,400.

Bottom line:

This might be the most tricked-out Ultrabook so far, but if you want the ultimate in thin and light, the Spectre definitely isn't it.

8. Dell XPS 13

The skinny:

Dell's first-ever Ultrabook, the XPS 13, clocks in at just 0.71 inches thick and 2.99 pounds. The 13-inch screen is protected by Corning's durable Gorilla Glass.

Interesting feature:

In addition to the 128GB or 256GB hard-disk options, users get 100GB of free cloud storage through Dell DataSafe for cloud backup.

Potential roadblock:

The battery, while rated for more than 8 hours of use, isn't user-replaceable.

Bottom line:

The Dell XPS 13, priced at $999, is a solid Ultrabook, and it throws in some nice freebies, like the cloud storage and a year of Skype Premium. You could do a lot worse.

9. Acer Aspire S5

The skinny:

Claiming to be the "world's thinnest" Ultrabook, the Acer Aspire S5 measures just 0.68 inches at its thickest point and weighs just 3 pounds. It has a 13.3-inch screen.

Interesting feature:

Besides its überthinness, the S5 also boasts next-generation connectivity with a Thunderbolt port, with provides a high-speed connection to peripherals. Acer's Always Connect tech keeps the machine logged into services when it goes to sleep, and you can wake it up via smartphone.

Potential roadblock:

The price, which is currently unknown.

Bottom line:

The Aspire S5's thickness certainly comes in well under Intel's guidelines. If it can perform the same trick with the price, Acer will have scored a home run.

Scientists in Zurich have created the world's smallest 3D map - of the world. IBM's perfectly formed 'nano-world', has now been accepted by the Guinness World Record organisation. The map measures a miniscule 22 by 11 micrometers. Or, to put it in perspective, 1,000 maps would fit on just one grain of salt.

Cara Menyelesaikan Error "A required CD/DVD device driver is missing, Install Operating Sistem USB

Beberapa waktu yang lalu, saya mengalami masalah ketika hendak menginstall Operating System (Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit/84 bit) pada Laptop (Asus) baru saya dengan menggunakan USB drive. Error ini terjadi tepatnya ketika proses instalasi baru pada tahap pengumpulan informasi instalasi. Tampilan error yang mungkin muncul adalah sebagai berikut :

Solusinya cukup sederhana,

Ketika muncul jendela seperti gambar di atas, klik Cancel, dan klik tombol close. Kemudian ketika anda kembali ke tampilan awal instalasi,cabut USB drive yang digunakan instalasi, kemudian masukan ke port USB yang lain. Kemudian lanjutkan prosedur instalasi seperti biasa.

Jika cara ini tidak berhasil, ada beberapa hal yang mungkin terjadi pada laptop atau komputer anda.

Setting BIOS storage configuration. Jika tipenya AHCI, ubah menjadi IDE.
Ada kerusakan pada hardware komputer atau laptop anda.

When the Brain Activities Signal Waves is Converted Into Music!!

Music or sound in general is one of the strongest stimulus of human brain after light (sight). We also know that we can activate our brain by using sound. Even our emotional condition can be affected by that kind of waves that tremble our ears skeleton. We can feel very terrible just because of, for example, a ghost like sound, we will feel calm and in comfort when we hear the smooth classical music, and et cetera. In other hand, our brain as the processor, seems to be more active when thinking or get some stimulus from the environment, but instead of it, our brain also active when in the idle mode. Such as when we sleep. Some research have revealed that our brain still active when we sleep. They assume it happen when we're in the dreaming state. But, of late, some researchers also discovered an awesome thing. They got the fact that our brain activities is much better interpreted not in the graphical form, but in the sound wave form. They discovered that our brain activities signal can be converted into musical form.

Music is perhaps the most accessible and emotional form of art, while the brain is one of the most complex and fascinating organs in the human body. Brooklyn based documentary filmmaker Elisa da Prato has teamed up with Philosopher Dan Lloyd to investigate the connection between the two.

To fund their film “Music of the Hemispheres” they’ve put the project up on Kickstarter, and have currently raised just under $2,000 of their $16,000 goal with a month left. In the film, da Prato and Lloyd will investigate modes of data visualization, music composition, performance, and audition. These systems will be “cracked open” and compared to the examination of brain mechanics and the architecture of mind.
“Ever since the first crude brain images appeared on the cover of Scientific American (1978) I’ve had a gut feeling that the ancient questions of philosophy — about mind, perception, and consciousness — would have to be informed by neuroscience,” explains Lloyd. Lloyd began studying neuroimaging in the mid 90s and in 2000 he began using “Virtual Reality Markup Language” to make maps of the mind. After looking at the data depicting brain activity, the neurophilosopher began asking questions like – how does consciousness arise in the brain? In order to better answer these questions, he learned Matlab, a computer programming language in order to handle the data himself.

One very hot night about eight years ago, it occurred to Lloyd that the data he’d been trying to visualize might also be turned into sound and that hearing the data might have advantages over simply viewing complex and layered data. “What if I sonify this data as opposed to visualize it?” he said. He soon theorized that consciousness may operate in a musical structure or perhaps music operates in a conscious structure. Since then he’s been trying to create musical interpretations that reveal something about brain function and are beautiful at the same time.

In late 2009, da Prato introduced NYU Scientist Dr. Zoran Josipovic to Lloyd. In February 2010, Josipovic sent subject Jeff Sable, (a good friend of Da Prato’s and a graduate of the NYU’s ITP program), through a fMRI scanner and asked him to meditate while viewing different visual stimulus. His brain activity was recorded and Josipovic shared his data with Lloyd who sonified the data and extrapolated its “musical score.”
Since then, da Prato and Lloyd have continued to work on Music of the Hemispheres, and are planning to create a film and an experiment, pairing artists with scientists, commissioning new musical works and documenting emerging breakthroughs in Music Cognition and Theory.

New Software To Edit A Photo Realistically

When you are asked about photoshop, without thinking, you will answer "its a sophisticated software that can manipulate photo very realistic". That's right. But, if it will be another condition when you see these picture below. I got this article from gizmag. I think this software is very cool. But, you know, you have to be more determine to be an advance here. :D

For more than twenty years, the software program Photoshop has been the industry standard for seamlessly manipulating images, especially the removal of unwanted items like blemishes, wires and telephone poles. When it comes to adding something to a photo, however, the process is still rather involved. Now, a team from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), led by PhD candidate Kevin Karsch, is presenting a new algorithm at Siggraph Asia 2011 that promises to radically simplify the procedure of believably incorporating new or "synthetic" objects in still shots and the results are quite impressive.

To appreciate the elegance of the UIUC team's contribution, it's helpful to understand just what an improvement it is over current techniques. Look at any effects-heavy feature film and you'll see instances where computer-generated objects, be they giant robots, dinosaurs or futuristic vehicles, were added to previously-shot footage (also called a background plate in the Biz). In order to sell the illusion that the added objects were there in the first place, technicians typically need to gather copious amounts of on-set data (e.g. lens height and focal length, size of on-set objects and direction/color temperature of visible light sources, etc.) from which they recreate a virtual environment. When this is done poorly, it's a dead giveaway that the added object is fake and was inserted after the original image or footage was shot.

The genius of the Karsch team's approach lies in what the user doesn't have to provide in order to create believable additions. (Currently, the software only handles still images, but plans are in the works to tackle film and video sequences before long). Starting with a still photo about which nothing is known, novice users have been able to add virtual subjects in just minutes with results good enough to fool experts. That's great news for graphic artists, but maybe not so thrilling for folks like crime scene investigators who'll soon have to doubt the veracity of every object in frame!

To pull off this digital sleight-of-hand, the process is broken up into intuitive stages, the first being the creation of 3D geometry from 2D data. "The main idea is we want to take our picture and we want to get a 3D model of the scene from it," Karsch explained. "We first apply an automatic estimation procedure which tries to find the boundaries of the scene - it tries to find the walls, the ceiling, the floor." Since that's occasionally inaccurate, the software also includes an interface that allows the user to refine the estimate.
"With two vanishing points, we can recover the focal length of the camera, and then using the rest of the input we can also recover a rough representation of the 3D geometry of the scene: where the floors are at, where the walls are at and where the ceiling is at," Karsch added.

Next, the Lighting Stage requires the user to identify light sources in the image, whether in frame or not. In the traditional computer graphics approach, lighting sources and characteristics are identified by placing a chrome reference ball in front of the camera. The UIUC team's approach eliminates the need for that and a host of other steps as it calculates a decent representation of the actual lighting conditions.
If the object to be added will land behind another opaque item, the Occluding Object Stage (in which the user basically scribbles on the objects that will block part of the object to be added) comes next. Also called a spectral matting procedure, this generates an object mask which, when applied, creates the illusion that the added object is behind the masked one.
Enabling beginners to generate professional results with minimal time and effort is sure to make the Karsch team's algorithm a big hit in the graphics world. Judging from the sample images provided from the team's paper, the approach adeptly handles just about every lighting condition conceivable, even for transparent and shadowed subjects. For those of you itching to get your hands on it, plans are in the works to create an online version that anyone can use. In the meantime, it seems we'll just have to make do with run-of-the-mill reality!

But, on this year, this company, also started to move on and expanding their wings. I think it's a big step of them to involve in the war of gadget nowdays. :D

The Pulse app curates your favorite websites into a colorful mosaic. Just tap on an article, and you will see a clean and elegant view of the story. It is also the only app that comes pre-loaded on the Amazon Kindle Fire and expects to reach 10 million users by the holiday season.

2. Dictionary (Free)

If you’re a total word nerd, Dictionary is a nice app that works even when you’re offline. Not only does the app give you the meaning of word, but it doubles as a Thesaurus. When you’re connected to the Internet you can enjoy the Word of the Day and access voice search. Feeling fancy? Change the app’s background image in settings. (N.B. The Kindle Fire comes powered with a dictionary for easy lookup while you’re reading just like the standard e-reading Kindles before it).

Use this app to view all of Wikipedia’s entries in all Wikipedia languages. The app features text copying from articles, full-screen mode, quick language swap button and unobtrusive advertising. N.B. you’ll need an Internet connection to access the app.

Songza is a sweet music app that’s even easier to use than Pandora. Mungkin sekarang negara Korea Selatan sedang memulai langkah untuk menerapkan teknologi robot dalam beberapa bidang yang biasanya dilakukan oleh tangan manusia.Setelah sebelumnya mereka memproduksi robot penjual tiket bioskop, beberapa waktu yang lalu mereka baru saja menguji cobakan sebuah robot penjaga penjara.

Robot ini dikembangkan di bawah pengawasan Kementrian Hukum Korea selatan. Robot yang didisain untuk mengawasi para tahanan ini, baru saja diuji selama satu bulan di sebuah penjara di kota Pohang, sebelah tenggara Seoul. Dilengkapi dengan sensor gerak, kamera, dan kaki beroda, robot ini diharapkan mampu mengawasi gerak gerik tahanan dengan lebih efektif. Robot ini juga didisain untuk bisa beroperasi dengan baik di malam hari dalam keadaan sedikit cahaya.

Penelitian dan pengembangan robot penjaga ini dibawah pengawasan seorang profesor dari Universitas Kyonggi, Prof. Lee Baek-Chul. Lebih lanjut, Prof. Lee juga mengungkapkan bahwa robot ini hanya digunakan sebagai alat bantu bagi penjaga penjara, terutama di malam hari, di mana biasanya tingkat kelalaian penjaga penjara meningkat.

Ternyata selain "jago" dalam bidang entertainment :D [seperti K-drama, k-pop, girl and boy bands, yang tengah menjadi hits di asia, terutama asia tenggara, khususnya Indonesia :D], Korea Selatan juga sepertinya serius mengembangkan bidang teknologinya. Mungkin mereka juga termotivasi oleh negara tetangganya, Jepang. Semoga saja pengembangan Robot ini bisa terus berlanjut, dan bermanfaat untuk meningkatkan pengamanan. Asal saja, security robot ini juga menjadi pengawasan, agar tidak mudah dihack dan diprogram untuk bisa di"suap" seperti manusia. Satu harapan lagi, semoga saja para pengembang robot di Korsel tidak terpikirkan untuk membuat robot artis untuk menggantikan artis-artis korea. Hahaha.

Mungkin para peneiti, akademisi, dan pencinta robot di Indonesia, bisa juga mencoba untuk membuat robot - robot aplikatif semacam yang dibuat di Korea selatan di atas. O ya, sedikit informasi, robot penjaga di atas, memerlukan biaya pembuatan hingga $ 850.000!! Bukan tidak mungkin Indonesia mampu membuat robot-robot aplikatif yang lebih bermanfaat, asalkan dari pihak pemerintah sendiri mau mendukung dan mengalokasikan dana yang cukup untuk mengembangkan penelitian , riset, dan edukasi di bidang ini.

8 Easy Tips To Make Your Handwriting Better

MY HANDWRITING IS awful – so bad that it’s not so much illegible as unidentifiable. It never bothered me, but I recently attended a creative writing retreat where I wrote some notes by hand. Looking over them now, I can barely read them. It’s rather embarrassing, as well as frustrating, so I decided to look for ways to improve my handwriting. As this great article points out, seems I’ve been writing the wrong way my whole life!

Luckily, it is possible to reboot years of misaligned muscle memory and improve your handwriting – you just need time, determination, and the following common sense tips.

1. Decide why you want to improve your handwriting

You need to know exactly what you hope to achieve, so you know what to focus on.

Perhaps (like me) you want to write more legibly, so your notes don’t look like a spider has been dipped in poisonous ink and then violently convulsed itself to death across your page.

Maybe there are a few letters you’ve never really been sure of (that would be you, joined-up s); or you want to impress that sexy graphologist you’re seeing, by projecting the wonders of your personality through your loops and whorls.

It might be you want to write more fluently and efficiently, so your hand doesn’t cramp up after five minutes of scribbling; or that you believe it’s easier to manifest the poetic geometry of the universe through an actual pen than a computer keyboard.

There are as many good reasons to improve your handwriting as there are ways to write “spelling” in Old English. Regardless of your reasons, here’s how to do it.

2. Choose your weapon carefully

English writer Edward Bulwer-Lytton famously wrote that “the pen is mightier than the sword”. Just as you wouldn’t go into battle armed with the rusty paper knife you found down the back of the armchair, you shouldn’t expect to produce beautiful handwriting using a half-chewed Biro encrusted in suspect fluff.

It’s not necessary to buy a gold fountain pen with jewel-studded nib and ink distilled from a virgin squid, unless you happen to be a particularly sophisticated Bond villain. But you should experiment until you find a type of pen (or even pencil) that works for you.

A purist might tell you fountain pens are superior – presumably because it’s so hard to catch enough swans to make quills – but there are plenty of good ballpoints, roller-balls and even felt tips out there.

Writing by hand shouldn’t be like a game of mercy with your pen, so look for one that is comfortable to hold, and where the ink flows smoothly without your having to push too hard on the paper.

Also try pens with different sized nibs or balls, to find a line thickness that pleases you, and experiment with different colours. But take care – it doesn’t matter how beautiful your script, it will still look horrendous if rendered in a bilious green ink.

Finally, if you’re a leftie, you can buy specially designed left-hand pens.

3. Get a grip

The top of the pen should rest on or just in front of the
base knuckle, not between the finger and thumb.

Although your pen does have a pointy bit, it’s not actually a mighty sword, so you needn’t hold it like one. Your grip should be light yet supportive, and there should be no undue tension in your hand. Don’t squeeze – your pen is no more a tube of toothpaste than it is a weapon, and the ink will flow of its own accord.

It doesn’t really matter which fingers you use to hold the pen, as long as it feels comfortable and balanced. But it’s best for the top (the non-business end) to rest on or just in front of the base knuckle of your index finger, rather than in the gully formed between index finger and thumb. 4. Sort your posture

You need to sit up straight yet relaxed, with your non-writing fingers gently curled under your hand, and your hand and wrist resting lightly on the table. Some people recommend having your writing surface at a 45 degree angle, which could be tricky unless you have a high-tech bat-desk, or are trying to save time by writing directly onto your laptop screen.

Clear some space, because you need room to move your arm when writing properly. You can’t produce elegant, free-flowing script if you are hunched up over the only corner of your desk not littered with empty coffee cups, half eaten sandwiches, and rogue power cables. There was a reason people had writing desks back in the days of yore.

Finally, once you have a comfortable writing position, don’t screw it up by altering your alignment. When it becomes awkward to move your hand down the page to write the next line, try moving the paper up instead of your hand down. Unleashing a typewriter bing is optional.

5. Put your shoulder into it

This is how much my writing sucks.

Having the right pen, correct grip, and good posture is worth nothing if you are drawing the letters with your fingers. Strange as it sounds, you should not be using your wrist and fingers to write – that leads to cramped, stilted writing, as well as fatigue.

Rather, your fingers should hold the pen in place and act as a guide, and all the movement should come from the shoulder girdle. This is the muscle group you use to raise your arm and rotate it in a big circle, like Popeye powering up for a thunder punch.

In other words, your shoulder and forearm move as you write, but your wrist and fingers don’t. This helps you write in a more fluid, efficient style. It takes practice, and feels weird at first, but these muscles don’t get tired as quickly as your wrist and fingers.

6. Swap your air guitar for an air pen

To practise using your shoulder muscles to write, hold your arm in front of you, elbow bent, and write big letters in the air. Concentrate on moving from the shoulder and holding your forearm, wrist and fingers steady. Muscles from your shoulder, arm, chest, and back should be working. These are the muscles you want to use when writing with pen and paper.

Once you are comfortable doing this – which mostly means coming to terms with how ridiculous you look – try making smaller and smaller air letters. You can also try tracing the shapes of letters onto a wall with your finger, or writing on a blackboard or whiteboard.

Writing on a vertical surface means you automatically use the correct muscle groups. Resist the temptation to get close and rest your hand on the wall, because this means you are writing with your fingers again.

7. Bust out some shapes

Probably best not to hold your pen like this.

Once you’re confident with the muscles needed to write in thin air, it’s time to fire it up to 11 and break out the pen and paper. This article suggests you start out writing large X’s, /’s, O’s, swirls, and loops. Really concentrate on moving from the shoulder, holding your wrist steady, and using your fingers just as a guide. Focus on producing nice, smooth shapes, and use lined paper to help with consistent size and spacing.

As you get better, make your shapes smaller and smaller. Begin introducing letters – again, start out big and bold, and gradually get smaller. When you’re ready to go crazy, bust out some words, sentences, and even whole paragraphs.

Asking an adult to practice writing big letters might seem as pointless as Mr Miyagi telling Daniel-san to paint his fence. But you aren’t just learning new muscle memory, you are trying to unlearn bad habits.

8. Practice whenever you can

Take every opportunity to write longhand instead of on a keyboard. If you’re a writer, or need to write a report or proposal, consider doing your first draft using pen and paper. You can polish and edit as you type it up. Write out old-skool to-do lists rather than using a computer program. Start maintaining a journal. If you’re stuck in a boring meeting, presentation or lecture, practice your handwriting strokes instead of doodling whirlwinds and boxes.

Practice your handwriting for a few minutes each day, and you should start to see improvements quite quickly. Try making up motivational sentences that use letters in different ways, like:

“This handwriting malarkey is spiffing good fun, and I quite fancy I’m becoming rather good at it, don’t you think?” Or,

“I was exceedingly happy to read that practice does indeed make perfect, and by Jove I’m going to see whether this really is the case.”

Some researchers and robot engineer, are developing the newest robotic form, micro robot. It's about the tiny robot, that containing micro device, and run sophisticated as the big one. Below, I got an article from gizmag.com about a new tiny Cyborg. Why cyborg? because maybe it's more like creating robot from a creature. In this case, is a bug. Insects have served as the inspiration for a number of Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs) that could be deployed to monitor hazardous situations without putting humans in harm's way. Now researchers at the University of Michigan College of Engineering are proposing using actual live insects enhanced with electronic sensors to achieve the same result. The insect cyborgs would use biological energy harvested from their body heat or movements to potentially power small sensors implanted on their bodies in order to gather vital information from hazardous environments.

To harvest energy from insects, the researchers have designed a spiral piezoelectric generator that converts the kinetic energy from the insect's wing movements into electricity. This power would be used to prolong the battery life of devices implanted on the insect, such as a small camera, a microphone or a gas sensor. The prototype piezoelectric generator was fabricated from bulk piezoelectric substrates and was designed to maximize the power output in a limited area.

"Through energy scavenging, we could potentially power cameras, microphones and other sensors and communications equipment that an insect could carry aboard a tiny backpack," said Professor Khalil Najafi, the chair of electrical and computer engineering at the U-M College of Engineering. "We could then send these 'bugged' bugs into dangerous or enclosed environments where we would not want humans to go."
The U-M team examined several techniques to scavenge energy from wing motion with their results were published in a paper titled "Energy scavenging from insect flight," which was recently published in the Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering. The university is now pursuing a patent for the technology and is seeking commercialization partners to bring it to market.

Getting the insects to go where their handlers want them to is another part of the puzzle that needs to be solved before insect cyborgs can be deployed. But DARPA has been working on this, having put out a call some years back for research proposals for Hybrid-Insect-Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (HI-MEMS) interfaces to control the movement of living insects. Combining the two technologies could be just the thing to take insect cyborgs to the next level and see them used to monitor hazardous situations in the not to distant future.

ASIMO Robot Humanoid Versi 2011, Lebih Cepat Dan Lebih Cerdas

Setelah tiga tahun lalu, SONY meuncurkan Asimo (Advanced Stop in Innovative Mobility) dengan kemampuan yang luar biasa untuk ukuran Humanoid robot, awal bulan November 2011 ini, Sony kembali meluncurkan Asimo versi terbarunya. Robot humanoid ini dipresentasikan Sony dalam sebuah acara konfrensi pers di Jepang beberapa hari yang lalu.

Jika Asimo versi terdahulu sudah mampu berlari, dan memiliki kemampuan bermain musik, versi terbaru 2011 ini memiliki kemampuan yang lebih baik.
Bukan hanya lebih "cerdas" namun juga memiliki gerakan yang lebih cepat dan lebih "smooth". Bahkan robot humanoid ini mampu membuka penutup botol minuman dengan dan baik, dan menuangkan isinya kedalam sebuah gelas.

Kecepatan berlarinya sekarang ini sudah bisa mencapai 5,6 meter / jam. Memang terlihat sangat lambat, namun jika dibandingkan dengan ukuran dan gerakannya, robot ini sudah cukup hebat. Ukuran Asimo, masih tetap sama seperti versi sebelumnya, yaitu sekitar 1,3 meter, seukuran seorang manusia berusia 12 tahun. Dengan ukuran ini, pihak Sony mengharapkan robot ini dapat dengan baik melakukan pekerjaan - pekerjaan sesuai dengan tujuan dibuatnya robot ini, yaitu untuk membantu melakukan pekerjaan pekerjaan rumah tangga sederhana. Dengan semakin berkembangnya teknologi robotika, dan bidang pembuatan kecerdasan buatan, bukan tidak mungkin beberapa tahun mendatang akan muncul robot humanoid yang bisa berlari secepat manusia, dan mampu berkomunikasi dengan manusia.

Cilacap Daerah Dengan Petir Terkuat di Dunia?

Sore ini saya membaca sekilas sebuah artikel berita dari sebuah koran di Yogyakarta yang berhubungan dengan kota Cilacap. Kampung halaman saya :D. Salah satu hal yang membuat saya tertarik pada artikel tersebut adalah judul artikelnya, "Cilacap Daerah dengan Petir Terkuat Di Dunia" ? Karena Saya memang hanya sekilas membacanya, dan juga sedikit tidak percaya dengan apa yang saya baca, kemudian saya coba cari artikel lain di internet mengenahi Cicacap dan Petir. Akhirnya saya mendapatkan artikel dari republika.co.id.

CILACAP - Pakar petir dari Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Reynaldo Zoro, menyatakan, potensi terjadinya petir di Indonesia sangat tinggi. "Indonesia terletak pada khatulistiwa yang mempunyai hari guruh (petir) sangat tinggi dengan aktivitas 100 sampai 200 hari guruh per tahun," kata dia dalam seminar mengenai petir yang diselenggarakan Pertamina Refinery Unit (RU) IV Cilacap bersama PT Aditech Matra di Cilacap, Senin (31/10).

Dalam hal ini, kata dia, hari guruh atau "thunderstorm days" diketahui dari jumlah sambaran petir dihitung dengan berapa hari guruh terdengar dalam satu tahun. Menurut dia, tempat-tempat yang mempunyai hari guruh yang sama dihubungkan dengan satu garis pada peta yang disebut sebagai "isokeraunic level".

Ia mengatakan, "isokeraunic level" ini dipetakan oleh badan meteorologi dunia dan juga oleh Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG) Indonesia. "Hari guruh maksimum di beberapa negara, yakni Eropa sebanyak 30 hari guruh, Amerika 100 hari guruh, Jepang 80 hari guruh, Korea 80 hari guruh, Australia 80 hari guruh, dan Indonesia 200 hari guruh," kata dia yang juga Ketua Pusat Penelitian Petir ITB.

Bahkan, kata dia, Cilacap merupakan salah satu wilayah Indonesia yang memiliki potensi guruh atau petir yang sangat tinggi. Dalam hal ini, dia mencontohkan kasus kebakaran tujuh tangki di kilang Pertamina RU IV Cilacap pada 24 Oktober 1995 akibat terkena sambaran petir.

Secara terpisah, praktisi dari PT Aditech Matra Tulus Leo mengatakan, wilayah Cilacap yang paling rawan petir adalah daerah kilang dan sekitar pabrik (kawasan industri). "Salah satu indikator banyaknya petir adalah banyak industri. Daerah industri banyak berpengaruh terhadap petir karena industri banyak menghasilkan aerosol dalam bentuk polusi," katanya.

Selain banyaknya industri, kata dia, wilayah Cilacap dekat dengan laut sehingga mudah terbentuk awan petir. Bahkan, katanya, arus petir di Cilacap cukup tinggi karena mencapai 40-50 kilo ampere.

Oleh karena itu, lanjutnya, PT Aditech Matra yang berafiliasi dengan ITB telah melakukan pemetaan terhadap wilayah rawan petir di Cilacap pascakebakaran di Pertamina RU IV tahun 1995 silam. Upaya itu termasuk memasang sejumlah alat penangkal petir di sekitar kilang minyak tersebut.

Sementara itu, Electrical Expart Pertamina RU IV Cilacap Ahmadin Sormin mengatakan, Pertamina telah memasang penangkal petir di sejumlah area kilang pascakebakaran tahun 1995 silam.

"Pemasangan tersebut merupakan rekomendasi dari para ahli petir termasuk dari PT Aditech. Apalagi Pak Reynaldo Zoro tadi menyatakan jika Cilacap potensi petirnya sangat tinggi," katanya.

Disinggung mengenai kemungkinan adanya pemasangan alat penangkal petir baru, dia mengatakan, kemungkinan tersebut tetap ada namun siapa yang akan memasangnya tergantung pemenang tender.

APlikasi ini memiliki fungsi yang mirip dengan Google maps, namun aplikasi yang satu ini bisa menampilkan interface dalam bentuk 3D. Gambaran yang ditampilkan aplikasi ini benar benar mirip dengan tampilan 3D sebuah kota yang dipotret dari udara.

After Mr. Steve Jobs passed, there's a product of Apple that specially produced to remember the honor of him. Apple's released the newest iPhone 4s. Maybe this name was inspired by a couple words, "for steve". But, weather it really specialized for him or not, this product has become a masterpiece that providing the Apples Quality. But, is it really proper to be put on our chart? What is new in this iPhone? Or is there any bad part on it?

iPhone 4s >> is it really better than iPhone 4?

People wanted an iPhone 5. A top-secret new phone to deliver previously unknown pleasures, and to cast the 16-month-old iPhone 4 into the rubbish heap of planned obsolescence.
But the news on October 4, coming just a day before Steve Jobs's death, was a reminder that not every Apple announcement blows off the roof. So here's the 4S--faster, Sprint-ier, with a better camera to see the world, and Siri, the voice-recognition assistant to better listen to it. And the proverbial question: is it worth an upgrade?

Like the iPad 2, the iPhone took a class-leader and subtly but smartly improved it, without breaking any moulds. In this case, there were literally no moulds broken: the iPhone 4S, save for a few variations in its aluminum antenna to improve the iPhone 4 "death grip," is physically identical externally.

But unlike the iPad, which is the undisputed tablet leader, the iPhone has some competition in the very-nice-smartphone market, most of them running Android and, more recently, a few of them running Windows Phone. So while the decision becomes a bit more complex, it's tough to find a smartphone package as powerful, elegant and self-contained as an iPhone 4S. But do not despair, iPhone 4 owners: much of the new magic is bottled in the iOS 5 update.

WHAT'S NEW

As usual, the iPhone 4S's processor gets a bump from the iPhone 4's A4 to what Apple calls the A5--the same processor family found in the iPad 2. The camera, now at eight megapixels up from five, shoots 1080p video and has an improved lens and sensor. And then there's Siri, a voice-recognition software assistant that Apple says can only run with the 4S's stronger processor.

WHAT'S GOOD

Everything new is good. Compared with running a fresh install of iOS 5 on an iPhone 4, the A5 processor boosts performance across the whole operating system. It doesn't blow the A4 chip out of the water, but in a touch interface, even small gains in responsiveness as you swipe and tap from screen to screen make a huge difference in your perception of speed.

I can also verify the camera improvements are legit. Noise levels in low light are still not as good as my S90 point and shoot, of course, but they're significantly better than the iPhone 4, which was already pretty adept in low light. In many more well-lit situations, image quality is actually getting pretty close to a high-quality point and shoot when you're looking at the photos on-screen. Colors are natural, tap-to-focus works, and with iOS 5's lock-screen camera button and the option to use one of the volume buttons for shutter release, the iPhone 4S is a pretty solid camera that you always have with you. That's great. (Our friends at Popular Photography will be publishing a more technical test very soon).

And then there's Siri. Early reviews were swept head over heels with her, but she and I have had a bumpier start. Siri misunderstands what I'm saying fairly often--I don't know if it's because I still have a hard time speaking naturally to my phone, because it's what I think she wants? Maybe it's because I've never in my life had a personal assistant, and I'm just not quite comfortable with the social norms of such a luxury, and she can hear that in my voice. Or maybe we just weren't meant to be?

When we do click, the effect is undeniably pretty magical (which is why this is filed under "What's Good"). I've especially enjoyed talking to Siri through the headset microphone while walking--squeeze the button, ask "are there any Radio Shacks nearby" (I needed a camera battery!), and if all is understood, the results are ready in your pocket when you pause at the next crosswalk. That's pretty nice. I can imagine the effect is even more satisfying for drivers.

But generally speaking, I don't use voice control that often. This first week, my brain often says "Hey, let's play with this new thing Siri" when I need to look something up, but I can already feel the novelty wearing off--I'm more comfortable with touch. Whether voice control becomes a long-term thing for you is, like all relationships, a personal matter.

Otherwise, everything that was great about the iPhone 4 remains great here: the design (antenna problems have been improved, says Apple), the overall feel of the thing in your hand and in your life. To me the 4S's build is unique in small ways: When this phone buzzes, it reveals an interesting internal texture--like there's soft wood inside. It feels good. That might classify as the most wishy-washy statement you'll read in a gadget review today, but that such a thing registered to me as an improvement, or at least a change, shows how personal the relationship we have with our phones has become.

iOS 5

This gets a separate category, since you can enjoy the new iOS5 software upgrade on the iPhone 4 and 3GS as well. The architectural changes that come with the upgrade well overshadow the 4S's hardware improvements. Wireless iTunes syncing is a god-send--you no longer have to plug in a USB cable to transfer music. Similarly divine is using iCloud to manage purchased apps and other iTunes content, which keeps all downloads automatically in sync between my computer and phone. In short, your iThing no longer requires a computer—that's a big deal.

How well iOS5 will continue to run on your iPhone 4 is the question, but until it slows down, you've got yourself a brand new phone.

WHAT'S BAD

Fighting the urge to upgrade your iPhone 4, which you should. The improvements here are nice, but, unless you're incredibly unhappy with the camera, or you want to kick a bad texting-while-driving habit with Siri (she'll help you change!), you can probably find better things to do with your money. Sorry, who am I to tell you that? But if it were me, I'd wait for the real iPhone 5. If you have a 3GS, it's probably close to two years old, and probably struggling to keep up with iOS 5. And you're still looking at a pixel-y non-Retina display. I'd say it's time to upgrade.
I'm not going to tell you Android people you need to switch, because again, that's your business. But I've yet to use an Android phone that's as well-designed, as complete, and as effortless as my iPhone.

THE PRICE

$200 for 16GB, $300 for 32GB, and $400 for 64GB. Comes with your choice of two-year indenture to AT&T, Verizon, and now Sprint.

THE VERDICT

The iPhone 4S is Apple smartly restraining themselves. Rather than push into a new mobile form factor every year, the pattern now is to introduce a new form factor, then improve upon it with the next release. Which means something that was already great just gets better.

If you have an iPhone 4, gnash your teeth and wait. If you don't, this is a buy. :D

Air Di Bumi Berasal Dari Komet ?

Mungkin sebagian besar orang tidak akan peduli dengan asal muasal air yang ada di bumi. Karena memang pandangan umum kebanyakan orang adalah bahwa air di bumi merupakan hasil dari proses kimiawi senyawa - senyawa yang ada di atmosfir bumi selama jutaan tahun proses pembentukan bumi. Namun, beberapa Ilmuwan menemukan hal yang menarik dari hasil penelitian mereka yang terbaru.

Sekian banyak air yang terdapat di sebagian besar permukaan bumi, menurut penelitian terbaru, dimungkinkan dari komet yang berasal planet Neptunus.

Air di komet disebut ,103P/Hartley 2 , secara kimia sangat mirip dengan air yang di Bumi. Pernyataan ini berdasarkan hasil sebuah studi internasional yang dipimpin oleh Paul Hartogh di Max-Planck-Institut fur Sonnensystemforschung yang diterbitkan di Nature. 103P/Hartley 2 diyakini berasal dari sabuk Kuiper di luar orbit Neptunus.

"Hasil penelitian kami menunjukkan bahwa komet ... bisa memainkan peran utama dalam membawa sejumlah air ke awal pembentukan Bumi," kata Dariusz Lis, pseorang ahli fisika di California Institute of Technology di Pasadena.

Sebagian besar Bumi sangat mirip dengan komposisi meteorit yang disebut chondrites enstatite, yang menunjukkan bahwa itu juga dimulai dari kondisi permukaan yang sangat kering.
Para ilmuwan berpikir asteroid dan komet mungkin kemudian menabrak Bumi, mengangkut air dalam prosesnya.

Desperate survivors of a powerful earthquake in eastern Turkey dug into the rubble with their bare hands Sunday, trying to reach those trapped and injured. The quake collapsed dozens of buildings and killed at least 138 people, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, though the death toll was expected to rise.

Erdogan said 93 people died in the city of Van and 45 in the nearby town of Ercis, but at the very least, that tally seemed to exclude a child reported dead in the neighbouring province of Bitlis, while hundreds more people remained unaccounted for.

State-run TRT television reported inmates escaped from a prison in the region soon after the quake hit.

People were still trapped under rubble overnight, Erdogan said. More than 350 survivors sustained injuries.

Several aftershocks were reported late Sunday, including a 6.0 magnitude temblor that struck six kilometres southeast of Van.

Officials in the mountainous eastern region, one of the country's poorest, were among those fearing the earthquake's toll will be much higher.

The Reuters news agency quoted a local crisis centre saying that nearly 600 have been injured and another 400 have been reported missing.

About 45 buildings, including a student dormitory, collapsed in the most powerful quake to hit this part of Turkey in at least a decade, Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay said.

The earthquake struck eastern Van province, close to the Iranian border, at 1:41 p.m. local time, Turkey's National Earthquake Monitoring Centre said. The centre reported the quake's magnitude as 6.6, while the United States Geological Survey said it measured 7.2.

Atalay said 25 to 30 buildings collapsed in Ercis, near the Iranian border on Lake Van, and about 10 in the city of Van to the south. Video from Ercis, home to about 80,000 people, showed panic-stricken residents running through the streets in clouds of dust.

The Turkey earthquake, one of the most severe in the country since 1999, was centered just outside of the provincial capital of Van (map), near Turkey's border with Iran. The quake was followed by multiple aftershocks, including one that registered as a magnitude 6.0, according to CNN.

The disaster has so far seen a death toll of almost 300 people, and the number continues to climb. Tens of thousands of people are also homeless due to the quake, and rescue workers are setting up tents and providing supplies such as blankets and heaters to help people survive outside in the mountainous region's near freezing temperatures. (See aerial pictures of the aftermath of last year's Haiti earthquake.)

"It is a very urgent situation," Hakki Erskoy, a disaster manager for the Turkish Red Crescent, told the U.K.'s Guardian newspaper. "Right now, we are facing a race against time to provide shelter for people."

We hope all of their suffer will gone soon. I can't give them anything, but at least I pray for them.
