When you adopt a pet, it is very necessary to take care of it. After some period, our pet becomes our family member.It is not a cat or a dog anymore.... It has its own identity. Well like a family it always gives love and also takes love, so its our responsibility to love it, nurture it and take care of it. But sometimes it becomes sick or doesn't listen to us, then we start worrying, we don't understand what to do? Here are some few handy tips for new pet lovers or caretakers.

A: Your Pet
1. We often adopt a pet when it is small, so it takes time to adjust to its new surrounding...It may not eat or drink initially.... please keep patience till your pet is comfortable with you.
2. Don't allow children to pick up your little pet they may hold it very tightly which can damage your pet physically.
3. Train your pet do its potty or pee in toilet, you can keep a litter box for cat. In litter box add little mud and paper and change it regularly. And for dogs, you should walk them out at specific timing. Keep newspaper in a specific corner for puppies.
4. Play a lot with them, don't scold them unnecessarily... when you love them, they will love you back but if you hate them, they will hate you back!!! When they have done lot of exercise and playing they will eat fine and remain healthy.

B: Food
1. Keep a healthy diet for your pet. Avoid giving it a human diet i.e no oily, no sweet, no spicy....
2. Give them their food, many varieties are available in market. With that food, you can give them boiled veggies or chicken. Its good to take concern of a vet for your pet diet because diet differs with the species. It is well and good if your pet is a vegetarian.
3. Keep the food timing specific.In cold seasons they may eat more while in summer they prefer light diet.So you should change your pet's diet accordingly....
4.When they do a good thing or they learn a new thing, reward them with their favorite food.
5. It will be better if you buy a bone or chew stick for your dog, it will be beneficial for you if you go out for short time leaving your dog alone at home.
6. Avoid giving eggs yolk in summers it will shed your pet's hair..
7. For cats who go out for long time, their favorite cat food keeps them home. They come back to you if show them their food.(My experience...)

C: Health
1. Always keep your pet clean..... it is very essential... if your pet is clean and ticks free then it will be more happy.
2. Groom your pet. Once in a day comb your pets hair.. it will reduce their hair fall or remove dirt from their skin.Always clean their skin with a comb before bathing them. Check their nails and cut the tip regularly...
3. If your pet is not eating food or drinking water, don't force them. Try giving them grass or any leaves, if they are eating that, then they have stomach problem. Consult the vet or try giving them acidity syrup.Always give them children medicine in emergency or its better go medicines made for them.....
4. Sterilization of your pet especially females is better after certain age.It will help your pet to stay healthy for long time.
5. You can give them injections or tablets for getting rid of the ticks and mites. Consult your vet for the same.
6. In winter give them something soft and thick cloth where they can sit or sleep.
7. Take special care for old dogs or cats, give them easily digestible food, make sure they are more relaxed and free from any disorders. Never neglect or throw them out because they have grown old.
8. If your pet is injured, then clean that part and apply turmeric powder to that area till you show it to the vet.
