Gleaners

If you are at all interested or involved in mercy ministries that include feeding people, you will really want to check out the Ontario Christian Gleaners.

They run their factory with, if my memory serves correctly, only one paid staff member. All the other workers are volunteers.
What do they do?
They take in donated surplus agricultural products from Ontario farms and they clean and chop and process them and then have them dried in huge dehydration machines. Then the fruits and/or veggies are packaged and shipped to places that have high hunger needs. The foods they provide are for example, such things as
dried apples pieces, or dried soup mixes which are used for excellent nutritional soup bases in the nation of choice.
I am very impressed with this organization. If you or someone you know may be interested in finding out more about this organization, they do have dinners twice a year. For more information please check out their website.

A big welcome to the blog toTaiwan and the Phillipines!

One of the absolute coolest inventions of modern man is the ability to freeze things for future use. In fact it was all over the news this past week or two that a "prehistoric" flower was grown in a laboratory after it's seeds were found in a frozen state for supposedly thousands of years. Growing things is not a hit or miss science any more. Mankind's knowledge, as confirmed by biblical prophecy, has truly increased.

Hence the creation of the gigantic frozen seed vault in Norway in 2008, (not too far from the north pole) which contains umpteen number of food crop seeds. In case of global catastrophe mankind would be able to restart it's food chain by replanting seeds for its main food sources.

Some of the funding for this seed vault has been paid for by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. How intriguing.

Are we letting new ideas in? Are we trudging on the same neural pathways by only accepting what we've been forced to believe, or are we allowing God's Spirit to breathe new life into our brains?
Are we having some adventures with God? Or do we mistakenly think that the christian life means we aren't allowed to have any fun?
God is playful. God is the best fun. He knows how to have a great big belly laugh or a subtle chuckle.
Christianity is not about grinning and bearing it, but about trusting God for the best times and the best life.

We have all had to humble ourselves to come to that point where we realized how desperately we need a Saviour.
Then, when we sense how much Jesus loves us and welcomes us, we realize we are not facing a harsh nor a cruel master, but rather a
Holy Friend Forever, who laid down His life for us, to make us part of His family. Don't be afraid. Jesus is not condemning you. In fact it is Jesus who has paid the price in full for you.
His gift, of his broken body and shed blood on the cross of Calvary, paid in full for all the mistakes and sin we have committed.
Jesus is waiting. His arms are stretched wide open. Run to Him.
Run to Him.
He will not turn you away.

Reading....listening

Big ole welcome to Slovakia and Turkey! Take your time and browse the blog.
What do you like to read? do you read ebooks? do you listen to audio books on your ipods or MP3 or 4 players? Do you get audio books on CD for your vehicles? Do you turn your house into an Audio classroom to continue studying your field of choice?

I guess there is sooo much information nowadays, that the pressure is not "what to study", but rather,
"what not to study". There has been an explosion of knowledge, and more specifically, the availability of that knowledge by the common man or woman. Whole new industries and fields of study have arisen in order to control, filter and sort the massive knowledge that is now available for us.

The internet is still relatively unfiltered. I don't know how long that will remain. Perhaps there is too much "free" information available. Perhaps the powers that be will want to make much of that knowledge available only in a "pay to download" format.

Knowledge is powerful......almost too powerful for many of us. Let's pray that we will allow God's Spirit to help us retain dominion over it.

You, yes you, are God's great gift, the crown of His creation, sent to earth to bless. You bless me.
Your presence on this blog means a lot to me. You have a profound significance in and amongst the Body of Christ.
You are not just taking up space, a lean mean food processing machine.....
You are unique and timely, set aside for a special purpose that God knows and will permit you to discover.
It takes time to discover His will for our lives. It takes perseverence. It takes courage, guts, charisma, faith, and trust.

Know that you are here at this moment in time because God said _______(fill in your name) is here to stay!
Don't give doubt a chair in your heart.
You were destined for this life, right here right now. Carve it, mold it and shape it according to the goals you have set and prayed through. Do you have your list of goals handy? Feel free to share some of them in the comment section. Be brave, my forthright friends, knowing that God has good will towards you.

Jesus is right now sitting at the right hand of the Father interceding for your welfare. You will not fail. You will succeed and overcome.......with patience, confidence and kindness towards yourself and others.

I love the part that explains that God is pondering our paths. How wonderful. We are not alone on this planet. Our lives are being studied by the Lord.
He is not only watching us, but taking time to think about us, about our lives, about our situations both victorious and challenging.
No matter what you are experiencing today, know that Jesus sees you. He hears you even if you don't have the faith today to believe that He does.

Withhold Not Good

Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

Sometimes, we have forgotten the latter part of this verse.....
"when it is in the power of thine hand to do it".
Permit me to explain.
Have you ever felt pressure to do something for someone when you didn't have what they needed? Has someone asked you for money or a donation and you didn't have it to give to them?
This verse talks about that. We can only give whatever we already have. We can not give money that we don't have. We should not feel obligated to give what we do not own. Even if we own something, we should not feel obligated to give it to someone or a ministry, unless God has made it clear to us by His holy Spirit that He is directing us to give away or "sow" a certain item into
someone else's life or ministry.
I have literally heard preachers on TV talk about using a credit card to give a tithe or offering. Therefore they were promoting the acquiring of debt under the guise of obedience in tithing and offering.

How frightening! I highly disagree. I don't believe anyone should ever give one penny to any church or ministry unless that money is debt free money, free and clear.
The bible talks about owing no man anything except to love. Therefore we are not loving our fellow Christians, if we are encouraging them to go into debt. Period.
Dear God, bless us with wisdom in the ways of your Word, and protect us Lord, from wolves and deceitful men and women who would twist Your good words to serve their own purposes. amen.

Sometimes we gotta take a leap. A leap of trust.....a leap of Confidence. Whatever it takes to move you forward towards your goals and dreams. Use your dreams to make your list of goals. Put these goals in writing. Through your prayers you will come to see if any of your list of goals needs tweaking or pruning.
It has been proven in studies that those who actually write their goals down are much much more likely to accomplish them , than those who just keep their goals inside themselves.

There is something tangible about having a list of goals. This list is for you to look at and read aloud and pray through as often as makes sense to you. You don't have to show the list to anyone, except if you want to.
If you aren't heading towards your goals, what are you heading toward? Are you following someone else's goals? Are you allowing your friends or coworkers to form your destiny? If that's what you want, that's perfectly fine, but don't be disappointed if in 20 years you find that your life illustrates someone else's choices instead of your own.

I believe that God's Holy Spirit lives inside of every Christian. The Holy Spirit has the desire to bless you and bring about many good things to happen to you, through you, and around you. The Holy Spirit inside of you is filled with compassion, skill, great advice and a constant stream of holy motivation. The Holy Spirit does not bring forth selfishness or pride, but rather the fruits of the Holy Spirit such as kindness, meekness, patience, joy, love and compassion. When we walk with the Holy Spirit we become capable of forgiving and doing kind things for those who aren't nice. When we walk with the Holy Spirit, our free will starts to blossom and bloom. We start living for Christ instead of the pressures of the world.

It is my prayer that I will continue to hear and perceive God's Word both in the written word of God and in the experiences of life around me. God is always speaking. I want to be listening more often. amen.

Ground Flax Seed and Peppermint Oil

In case any readers are looking for ways to improve digestion there are two natural remedies that aren't too expensive.
One is just to take whole flax seeds and grind them up in your favourite grinder or blender and then just add one big tablespoon to your favourite cold drink, whether that be water, juice, or iced tea.

Another suggestion mentioned by a medical doctor is the use of peppermint oil supplements. They are available in soft capsules at most pharmacies or health food stores. There is literally a cooling effect that you can feel happening when you take peppermint oil. The mint cools down the system.

Permission to Focus

Have you given yourself permission to focus on one thing? How much time of uninterrupted concentration have you permitted yourself in order to move forward toward your goals?

It has come to my attention that the society in which I live seems to allow only certain kind of people the time they need to focus. Pastors are given "sabbaticals", and professors are given time off to develop the research they are currently working on, while they are still paid a continuous salary.

If we want to allow ourselves and other christians to develop and put consistent effort to accomplish some great goals, we need to , as a Christian Body, develop the ability to "carry" people spiritually and financially during their periods of growth and development.

We can't be cheap about it. We have to be willing, as a Christian educated society, to give people room to grow without having to worry about how the bills are going to be paid.
I have been studying the condition of Cancer research in Canada. Did you know that so many scientists and medical inventors spent a great portion of their time just trying to raise funds?
They are not spending their time in the laboratory or deep consistent thought, but rather scrapping together more applications for grant proposals in order to be able to survive while they find a cure for cancer.

We need to be leaders in this area as the Christian Mentors of society. It used to be true that the biggest christian churches were the "carriers" of the best Ivy League universities in Canada, the USA and England. How have we lost our place of relevance and power? How have we lost that place of influence and leadership? We can get it back. We must.
