One of most notable industrial bands from Russia is Necro Stellar that
has done music almost now for two decades. I got interested for this
artist(s) around 2006-2007 when I heard their song Only Moon.
Their earliest style is electro industrial but latest
songs are more rock influenced like their track Spider that
has some nice rock guitar backing.
There´s some good imagery and nostalgia of longing for old and better times
without capitalism.
Head of the band Yuri is also a head of his own school of
magic and witchcraft called SPIRALNIX which is dedicated into study of
modern psychology and inner psychic powers of man.

Shadows of The Empire is a new imprint of Dutch Drum and Bass group Black Sun Empire.
Their style is very much of their own and both instantly familiar and very different but still with some clever drum and breaks programming with dark atmospheres with deep basslines.

Early Documentary about sampling

Sampling is a creative way of stealing and recording sounds and transforming them into something completely different. There is a hybrid style of music production with real and computer generated sounds or all with samples from analog source such as vinyl to digital without any computer generated instruments included. However it is more like a golden rule of a sample alchemist to use both analog and digital sources and mix them into new music loops. Hip Hop producers all time favorite must be Akai MPC series.
There is same kind of stuff everywhere in creative industry no matter what area be it movies, media or fashion.
Most blatant sampling in pop art was those soap cans by Andy Warhol. So boring subject could be transformed into something more colorful and eye catching.
In music sampling started to popularise as a technique during 80´s when you had access to more processing power with 16bit computers such as Atari Stfm 1024 or Commodore Amiga.

There are also few terms in sampling such as:
- sampling: to record a digital sound - usually from a vinyl record
- loop: piece of sing sound that can continuously copied repeated again
- microsampling: to sample a very very short duration of sound or noise that it becomes very unclear that where hell it has been originally taken from.
- Cut: is a very short piece of sound from a longer part of drum rhythm or another percussive beat.

Excerpt from the lyrics from track 3 "Giorgio by Moroder" on the latest Daft Punk album Random Access Memories.

So basically on this track Giorgio Moroder tells about the history and beginning of the future sound that started the era of futuristic disco music.
He had a consept in his head that needed to be solved in studio by using click sound as a recorded metronome sound to be used as a sync for all tracks. ------

I would partially sleep in the car because I didn't want to drive home and that helped me for about almost two years to survive. In the beginning, I wanted to do an album with the sounds of the 50s, the sounds of the 60s, of the 70s, and then have a sound of the future.

I know the synthesizer, "Why don't I use the synthesizer?", which is the sound of the future. And I didn't have any idea what to do but I knew I needed a click so we put a click on the 24 track which was then synced to the moog modular. I knew that it could be a sound of the future but I didn't realize how much impact it would be. Listen to album in iTunes

Some new interesting tunes on Tricky´s new album False Idols. False Idols is a name for his new album but also a name for his new label. For a long time after his album Maxinquaye Tricky goes back again to his musical roots in his latest musical piece.

Accompanied with real recorded drum beats, guitars and electronic drum cuts there´s also some nice painted blue harmony by cellos and violins.

There´s some really good vocals in this album featuring by Francesca Belmonte, Fifi Rong, Nneka and Peter Silberman of The Antlers.

I just received a copyright case e-mail from Soundcloud claiming that my own music may have a copyright issue. It might be also that when I registered artistname Digital Beat was already reserved by someone and I am using digitalbeat666.

I will propably make a petition that someone from Mexico is using my original artistname and my own songs having a copyright issue. Some of songs are already released many years ago in iTunes. If the people at soundcloud would only have time to check my releases on my label page.

It´s not really an issue if they just delete my songs because I already pay for reverbnation song storage.

There was a petition where my issue about flagging original content was also mentioned. The original music content can be flagged too but I believe my case was just a mistake. Unfortunately I am not another naive guy who just makes music and does not understand anything about anything else. Big online outlets just want to eradicate original music from their site and monetize everything in the long run. Other issue is propably legal pressure in usa with ACTA and new copyright laws.

Of course artists want to have rights for their own art just like anybody else. I think these laws like ACTA has already been decided with close doors by only those that are in power with most money, lawmen and business linked with big labels such as Warner Music or major stockphoto and music outlets like Getty Images Music. Still I hope the real and original royalty music sites like Shockwave Sound will give more expertise and knowledge than any big outlets that just wants to rip artists and take most of the sync licencing money into their own pockets.

Artistic freedom or death?

There are some controversial artists that use fascism symbolism to piss out people. One of such "black art"(ists) or western (occult) musicians are Boyd Rice and Marilyn Manson.

In fact both have been dabbling with the Church of Satan in it´s best days in 90´s. I think the whole subculture and satanism as a religion in america was just a reactionary movement of that time against dominant and conservative christian values. This is like a teenage angst against parents on a smaller scale.

There are still people who will resist and try to censorship original art and music that is not mainstream. Personally I think artist should be able to express art from his point of view not what government or dominant religion of the state tells him to do. Art must always fight against political correctness.

This can be seen with young people who directly adapt the same values as their parents without rebeling at all. Latest western cultural trend is propably hipsters that are sunken into consumer culture and follow fashion trends and shopping but worship only superficial things like new iPads, fake glasses and new sneakers.

A true artist can never be in one dimension like a consumer (sheep) so perhaps he has to take influences from fascist and dictators spiced with popular culture. This is just what Marilyn Manson does. Sheep among Wolves but this time other way around.

There is a lot of disinformation about Goth subculture in the Internet. Original goth ideology has absolutely nothing to do with sinister criminal activity. There are original goth bands such as The Cure and Depeche Mode which are the forefathers of this music genre.

Blatant subculture hate sites If you want to see another (conservative) view of fascism in subculture then you should check out Who Makes the Nazis blog . It has lot of sinister and even biased information about goth culture.

There´s also even much more worse christian goth hate websites such as God hates Goths where school massacres were incorrectly and blatantly pointed at Goth scene. There´s really something wrong in the country where religion is used as a weapon against common social problems of kids.

Rumblefish - very unclear about music copyright

When I first heard this issue about Rumblefish from my royalty free music distributor Shockwave Sound couple of years ago. At the time in 2010 it appeared AudioMicro / GoDigital started to add "fingerprint" and started sending music to GoDigital Media Group which then claimed a new ownership and/or administrative rights to the original music. There is no copyright transfer if you send any music for sale. It´s your music and it is never owned by the music distributor.

Such sites that sell royalty music with ridiculously low price will kill the market and will make the producers of royalty free music artists soon another spoon fed poor beggars. There must be a clear division between consumer music and professional music. First one which is called "consumer music" does not have to be expensive but affordable where professional music should have clearly higher price tag because it´s been used in mass market of mechanical items such as DVDs or corporate presentations.

But what´s the problem?

The real problem arises when your "fingerprinted" (copyright stolen) music is uploaded and used in Youtube.
The article says that some user had uploaded his track and then had a claim that he does not have the copyright anymore because it´s owned by Rumblefish. So for example artist named John Boydston, from the band Daddy A Go Go had released a song on a cd and then uploaded the same track in a music video in Youtube. Later artist got a message from YouTube saying that music in that video "may have content that is owned or licensed by rumblefish.
I think the artist should read FAQ very clearly because it appears that one gives all music exclusively to Rumblefish when opting in via CDBABY. CD Baby FAQ:

You are also granting an exclusive license for Rumblefish to manage Content ID controls (and similar controls) on YouTube and other so-called “User-Generated-Content” Networks,

A few years back, we wrote about the company Rumblefish claiming copyright on public domain works on YouTube and getting them taken down. Recently, the company got a lot of attention for claiming copyright on someone's video because it had some birds chirping in the background, and a very mistaken Rumblefish process not only believed it owned the birdsongs, but then an employee doubled down and refused to back down when challenged on this. The company did eventually admit a big mistake after this received a ton of publicity -- but many of us were still worried about the process that allowed Rumblefish to make such a bogus claim in the first place.

I rarely write about anything new artists in the finnish scene because I try to concentrate on my own things too much. If you liked Miami Vice, old video games, old science fiction then you got to check out this music project. I just spotted this nice music project called Starforce from the Klubitus.org forums. Their sound is 80´s retro soundtrack and reminds a genre called space synth. video:
