Amber Guyger, a former Dallas Police officer, is on trial for the 2018 fatal shooting of Botham Jean, an unarmed black neighbor in his own apartment. The prosecution claims the crime occurred after being distracted by an intimate phone call with her partner and lover. Guyger said she confused his apartment for her own and thought he was an intruder.

An 18-year-old said she was attacked at knifepoint then she said she made it up.

Background:

She reported being raped by a man who bound and gagged her. Confronted with inconsistencies in her account, she thought it might have been a dream, and then said she made it up. She was charged with filing a false report and was offered a plea deal. No suspects were arrested, or questioned. She just wanted it to be over so she took the deal.

What makes Bulger important is what the government did for him. If the FBI had not made Whitey its favorite mobster, broken the rules and rigged the game to his benefit, Bulger would never have reached as high as he did. More likely, he would have become another small-time casualty of gang warfare fought in the streets of South Boston.
