A new illustrated saga, coming soon to the YouNeek app.

]]> Before the YouNiverse began, there was a family of gods. One brother became the Prince of Light. The other became the Prince of Rage.

Meet The Divine Ones: An Illustrated Saga, a new story coming soon to the YouNeek app. It’s told by Oris, son of Atala, the First Father. He tells how the gods who once guarded humanity broke apart, and how that split led to the Divine Wars.

It’s also a new way to read. An illustrated saga is built for your phone. It pairs painted art, sketches, inks and comic panels from across the YouNeek YouNiverse with brand-new prose, narrated by Oris. Some of this art you may have seen before. It has never been brought together like this.

Quick facts:

  • Season 1 has six chapters. Chapter 1, Before the World Was Afraid, is coming soon.
  • It’s for YouNeek app subscribers.
  • It’s inspired by the story of Cain and Abel from the Bible.
  • The team: created and written by Roye Okupe. The art is by Toyin “Morby” Ajetunmobi, Godwin Akpan and Sunkanmi Akinboye.

If you love stories about Zeus, Thor, Odin, Anansi and Shango, this one is right up your alley.

]]> Twin sisters, built in a lab and raised as weapons by a black ops program. They have never met. Their next mission: kill each other.

That’s Eagle Aim, a brand-new original graphic novel from creator Roye Okupe, with art by Sunkanmi Akinboye (WindMaker, Malika). It’s an action thriller, and it’s coming soon to the YouNeek app.

A few things to know:

  • It’s black and white, on purpose. The only color is red, and it’s saved for blood.
  • It’s part of the YouNeek YouNiverse. It takes place right before E.X.O.: The Legend of Wale Williams, Vol. 1. You don’t need to have read anything else first.
  • It was inspired by a real place. Igbo-Ora, in southwestern Nigeria, has one of the highest twin birth rates in the world.
  • It’s for mature readers.

You can read the first two pages right now, for free.

Want to know the day it launches? Sign up on the Eagle Aim page and we’ll email you.

Synopsis

Set tens of thousands of years ago, The Asiri is an epic science fantasy story about an ancient advanced West African civilization (inspired by the Akan/Ashanti people) of space explorers that once colonized Mars. Enhanced by an inner power called “Inkra,” the Asiri are able to create, control and manipulate tech in ways never seen before. The most exemplary of these powers is that of THE ASCENDED—a select few Asiri who can morph into giant beings, each equipped with unique and otherworldly powers.

However, the Asiri see their golden age come to a devastating halt after the invasion of THE AGELESS— sentient automaton sentries from deep space who share a mysterious and troubling connection with The Asiri. Now, a once-thriving civilization is thrust into chaos as loyalty, a revered tenet of Asiri culture, very quickly becomes a liability.
