What is soy wax?

The base of soy wax is soybeans. After the soybeans are harvested and cleaned, they are cracked open and rolled into flakes. Our first new product is our adorable wick dipper featured on our home page.  Wick dippers eliminate the smoke from blowing out a candle by allowing you to easily dip the wick in the wax pool to extinguish your candle!  Pretty neat, right?!?!

We plan to introduce quite a few new items in 2018 and hope you all will visit our website often to shop for them.  We are planning to introduce several new fragrances, and discontinue some less popular ones, this year.  Stylish wax warmers, that we have been researching for months to ensure we offer the best possible products to our customers, will be offered soon. We are also considering expanding from our classic line of candles and candle products to offering premium and novelty lines of products.  Emails and social media posts will go out regularly to announce each new product.

Last year was a tough one for many retailers, but Comfort Candle Company is greatly optimistic about 2018! We are committed to continuing to offer great products at great prices on our website, at our manufacturing facility in Fredericksburg, Texas, and through our ever-expanding network of retailers.

The article also mentions that there is very little time between when our candles are made and when they are shipped. They are truly fresh, and we want people to know and smell the difference that makes in scented candles just like in many products. The fresher, the better.

Comfort Candle Company definitely delivers that! The review also said it was apparent that we use very high quality oils, and our wax melts don’t have the generic feel that a lot of wax melts have. WOW…great to hear confirmation that we make wonderful wax melts in addition to jar candles!

So we suggest you think of scents like music!

In a living room, you’d usually want soft background music. A subtle floral is the scent equivalent to that. We have Lily Gardenia, Tuberose, and Bluebonnet that would work great in a living room. Florals are many times thought of as more feminine so a more gender neutral, pleasant and very popular scent is our Havana.  It has notes of Bergamot and Patchouli, which many people may not recognize by name or smell.  Bergamot (shown above left) is a small, citrus fruit which yields a highly fragrant essential oil with citrus, spice and floral notes.  Patchouli (shown above right) is an herb closely related to mint, sage, and lavender. Patchouli oil has been used for centuries and is believed by many to have anti-depression and inflammation soothing properties.

For a party where you’d turn on lively music, you would want a happy, social fragrance that gets noticed, like Havana, New Divine, or Hill Country Home.  For the kitchen or dining room, something that’s a little bit mouthwatering, evoking scents of apple, fresh pear, or thyme, works well.  Our Apple Strudel, Pedernales Peach, and Pineapple et Sage all fit that description.  We would avoid floral scents in the kitchen or dining room as they can get in the way of food aromas.  For the bathroom, scents of grapefruit in our Utopia, or a fresh clean scent like our Comfort or Rain, can be helpful in replacing any not-so-pleasant odors in this room.

1. Start your routine early

You can’t expect to go to bed around 2am and survive hearing your alarm blaring at 6:45am. So try to set a regular schedule of going to bed at a reasonable hour and waking up early. This is way better, and healthier, than having to start your day with 10 cups of coffee.

2. Make a to-do list

Create a list of everything you need to buy and what you need to do. You’ll feel more accomplished and can battle an enemy worse than bullies…procrastination.

3. Get ready the night before

Some of us can probably waste a good hour in the morning trying to find an outfit to wear and get all the stuff we need for our day together. Instead, pick your outfit and pack your bags the night before. This will save you a lot more time in the morning, so that you can sleep more or even have a second breakfast. #winning

4. Seriously…. Eat. Your. Breakfast.

Eat it! Everyday. It’s what will give you the energy and focus you need to make it through the day. Remember, your brain needs fuel just like your car.

5. Visualize or Map out your schedule

Check your schedule and then try to picture how long it would take to go from class to class or from home to campus. If you have time, even do a trial run. Especially if you go to a big school, this will prevent you from getting lost or accidentally walking into the wrong class and making up some awkward excuse.

6. Stay on your teachers’ good side

I’m not saying sit in the front and always bring them a gift, although Comfort Candle gift box candles do make just about the perfect teacher gift, but try to make a good impression.  Don’t skip class, try your very hardest to hand in your work on time and don’t show up late. This way, they will respect you, and will be more likely to help you understand the material better and give you a much-needed extension on that paper you just couldn’t finish on time.

7. Make friends

Keep your old friends but make an effort to make new ones as well.  Join a new club or discover a smart new study partner whose knowledge may prove invaluable! Friends are what make the school experience so special, so make sure you don’t miss out!

Just remember that your time at school or university really is the best time of your life; everyone can attest that no matter how much you say you hate it during your time there, you’ll always miss it when it’s over.

It reminds us of books and we LOVE to read!  We admit this gave us an excuse to promote a sale on our wonderful leather scented products, which is one of our most popular fragrances with men.  National Book Lovers Day on August 9th also gave us an excuse to talk about how much we just love to read and how important it is for lifelong learning and adventure.  Even if you can’t travel, taking an adventure through reading can still be amazing.

We love a good autobiography or science fiction book, and we know there are occasions that just call for a romance or romantic adventure novel!  One of our owners’ all-time favorite book series is the Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon.  The first book, aptly called Outlander, was originally published in 1991 with the subsequent books 2 through 8 following after that.  One of our owners has read all 8 of the main Outlander books and she is reading them again….they are that good!  Of course there is the TV series Outlander now on STARZ in the U.S., which is must see TV in her household…LOL!!

One of our owners even went last month to Scotland to tour some of the places from the Outlander TV show and in real life that she has always wanted to see.  Having another job as an oilfield consultant allows her to travel frequently, so a side trip to Scotland from London was a “no-brainer” for her.  The bonus for you readers is to see one of her favorite photos. The photo featured above is of Inverlochy Castle, one of Scotland’s famous castles, built around 1270.  It’s not a setting for Outlander but is breathtaking nonetheless. She says Scotland is incredibly beautiful and the people are super nice.  You are guaranteed to have an amazing time if you enjoy the outdoors and reading about and seeing historic places.
