Continuing from yesterdays post about the foibles of connecting 3rd party services together I thought I would give you a preview of the sign up page itself. Sticking to the sites interface paradigms we've added tabs to the page allowing instant access to account creation or connection. How the website feels and functions is extremely important to us so if you have any really good design ideas let us know.

We've been back to work on the website this weekend, after moving to London and long IT supply set backs and it's been a big one!

We've been developing YouChooze from the start to integrate into the services you already use. The most important part of this is enabling you to login through an existing account, so you don't have to provide or remember another username and password. Putting together the different standards and APIs used into one website is an enormously confusing task but thanks to RPX we have been able to do this whilst keeping some hair on our heads.

When returning or visiting YouChooze for the first time you will be able to choose whether to sign up or login directly or through a 3rd party. We've developed applications for Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo and Windows Live to synch your accounts securely with our website.

Many new websites employ a technique known as Asynchronous Javascript to retrieve data and update a piece of content behind the scenes without leaving or refreshing the current page. YouChooze is doing nothing crazy by using the method (often categorised as 'Web 2.0') but we hope our end users will appreciate the extra speed and usability. We have also taken extra care in making the website functional even where support for this technology is not always available - such as at work in an old Internet browser (http://bit.ly/E7sDf) or on some mobile devices - by building every feature without Asynchronous Javascript first.

So whenever you see the loading bar at the bottom of the YouChooze page you know the site is working away behind the scenes so you don't have to wait!

We've been developing YouChooze with your other networks and social media in mind. In your account options we have created a section where you are able to choose which bookmarking and sharing websites you wish to promote question on. These simple links will be displayed on each question you view allowing quick access to spread or remember the page.
